For years, I've driven past this food truck without realizing what I was missing! I finally tried it for the first time in January, and I've already been back three times since. My go-to order is the Halal chicken over rice and a side of falafel. The chicken over rice comes with perfectly seasoned chicken, bell peppers, and onions, served on a bed of basmati rice with a salad mix, two pieces of pita bread, and both red and white sauce. The portions are generous, and the price is very reasonable. As for the falafel, it's some of the best I've had in Winston-Salem. It's light, flavorful, and not greasy just the perfect balance. You can order from the truck directly, call ahead, or even use Uber Eats. Personally, I like calling ahead, and the owner is always super friendly! I'll definitely be returning again and again.

Though I'd passed this colorful food truck a number of times, this was my first visit. It is now located in a lot at 815 Waughtown Street, and has operated in this area for over 5 years! I ordered the Lamb Gyro and a rice bowl with Chicken and Lamb. The food was ready in about 10 minutes, and there was a massive amount of food - easily 5 pounds of food for about $17 - if you can find more for that money, take it! The gyro was loaded, really loaded, with delicious, tender cubes of lamb, with plenty of grilled onions, lettuce and some green pepper, all wrapped in a large, very flavorful pita, smothered in the outstanding house made white sauce - always seen it called Halal Cart WhiteSauce, may have another name. This gyro is different from the Greek version, but is a great sandwich in it on right - and rivals similar street food found in Manhattan - the first place I ever encountered this type food! The Chicken and Lamb Rice Bowl was also very large, with big amounts of lamb and chicken resting of very tasty rice. There are wedges of pita, slices of cucumber, and shredded lettuce - the house white sauce goes really well with it all, including the " salad"! I would suggest ordering additional pita for this dish. Just like the Gyro this dish rivals the NYC street food version found all over Manhattan. As mentioned above the lamb is very tasty, and the chicken was as well, and it bears the characteristic red color coming from a dusting of a tandoori or Kashmiri type pepper mix. I would suggest mixing a portion of the two sauces together for the meat - outstanding flavor combo. This is another ethnic gem that I hope Winston will continue to support - I certainly intend to do my part, often! Ambiance - 0 Food - 5 Service - 5 Value - 5

This is one of the best places in all of Winston. Made fresh, but pretty fast. So flavorful. Very filling. I got a lamb gyro. I wanted some rice as well, so also got falafel over rice. I have leftovers for days! Not mad about it! Hamad is very friendly. His food is amazing.

First time to try this food truck and it didn't disappointed my taste buds. The owner chef is so accommodating and really nice in sharing his roots and how he started his food truck business in 2018. Yes he's five years in this location and I've been driving passing his food truck for five years because he opens @ 11AM 'till 9PM. After reading so many reviews from Google I finally decided to try this food truck of Halal Foods. Ordered 3 different gyros chicken, lamb and kebabs. And yes all foods that I've ordered are simply amazingly delicious Definitely going back to try more of their menus. Thanks Sir Hamad! #awesomefoods

    Chapli Kebab - chicken patties

Chapli? Seekh? Chana? Tikka? While there might be some unfamiliar names, there are photos on the truck to help guide you along. Chana is a chickpea dish, but I was most confused by the two kababs, Chapli and Seekh. Both are made from chicken, and I tried the Seekh on my last visit, a long ground chicken mixture, skewered and cooked. It has excellent flavor, which I actually prefer over the lamb and the tikka chicken. So tonight I decided to try the Chapli Kabab. These are large, flat, chicken patties, probably 5-6 ounces each, and they give you two of them on top of a bed of rice and salad, plus the delicious white sauce and hot sauce. The Chapli itself has a little more flavor and spice than the Seekh Kabob. It was really good, and with the two sauces poured on top, it makes a great spicy and creamy mixture that will make your nose run and your eyes water. These are cooked to order and so worth the $9.99 price tag.

I am not really sure what spice level they ended up serving me -- they seemed to want to serve me medium, but the spice was completely imperceptible. Definitely not hot as requested. Potentially mild. The food was flavorful, tasty even, but not even a whisper of heat. That was disappointing. To put things in perspective -- I'd say a slice of pepperoni pizza with a few red pepper flakes sprinkled would be spicier. The chana masala was also SUPER oily. I'm not sure if that's normal for them or not -- no matter how many times I stirred it, around 1/4 cup or more of straight oil kept separating out. Beautiful restaurant, clean, quiet, with tasty enough food, but they majorly failed on delivering heat, which is one of the main things I enjoy in Indian food. I am not sure if they typically serve the mildest Indian food on the planet, or if they didn't think I could handle what I ordered, but regardless, I don't see myself choosing to return here.

I wish I could say that it was worth the wait, but my experience here suggested otherwise. Positives first: Noor is both spacious and stylish with plenty of seating in both the bar and dining areas. Sujan proved to be an attentive and courteous server. That said, the buffet was somewhat underwhelming. It was smaller than those I've found elsewhere in the area. While it offered a solid mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, those offerings were the epitome of playing it safe. Only the hakka noodles (not always an Indian buffet staple) and butter chicken (better than average) really stood out. Nothing else, from the tandoori chicken to the daal to the naan, was prepared poorly, but it was fairly forgettable. Granted, buffet food needs to appeal to a wide range of diners with varying levels of spice tolerance, and so I went in not expecting any heat. Take spiciness out of the equation, however, and the flavors still felt subdued. At least the $20 seemed reasonable for what was offered. It's possible that Noor really shines if you order off the regular menu, and so I wouldn't rule out a return here. The next time I want a weekend lunch buffet, however, I think I'll stick to Taaza.

Downstairs with numerous rooms, massive bar, and a whole upstairs for events, birthday parties or work and staff outings. One of the best cocktail, bourbon and overall drink menu we've seen at an Indian restaurant in the area. Huge props to the bartender for making an excellent Oaxacan Old Fashioned. It was so good I had to have 2 ;-) The food was a bit mixed. Amazing samosa and butter chicken. Dipping the naan into the butter chicken and adding some raita on top was a flavor bomb in each and every bite. However, the chicken lollipops were very dry and tough to chew. I can see these being amazingly tasty had they been cooked properly. The chana masala was a bit mixed as well. The chickpeas melt in your mouth with excellent texture, but the dish overall lacked a little flavor. Again, something with a few tiny little tweaks would make it a 5 star dish. A great touch at the end though. The owner came by and asked if we wanted any dessert. We both said we were stuffed and couldn't put down any more food, which we really were. He insisted on bringing us something small. And boy were we pleasantly surprised. He brought over Gulab Jamun (milk powder fried soft balls soaked in honey and cardamom syrup). Man these were tasty! First time we've had them and now we are huge fans. We'd come back just for these.

The meal I selected was Butter Chicken. I only have a few experiences with Indian food, and I knew this was a safe bet, and since it is a very popular Indian dish, I figured this would be a good litmus test for the restaurant. I was very pleased with their selection of groceries; they had many WHOLE-grain spices, which is pretty rare, unless you are going to Whole Foods or some ritzy establishment like that. They had so many herbs and ingredients, it was really lovely to see a small business provide a resource for an underserved community in Winston-Salem. I plan to try the Garlic Naan later, I was to hungry to warm it up with my Butter Chicken. Now, onto the food. Unfortunately, I thought it was a little bland. And a bit pricy for what I got. I just got butter chicken and jasmine rice, and it was $16. I think for that price, the portion size might be a little bigger. The dish had spice, it was not devoid of spices, but it was just fairly bland, compared to my few experiences with Indian food before. With that being said, I will try it again. Perhaps it was an off day, or maybe that's not their signature dish. If I had to pinpoint a problem, maybe there was too much cream in it? I think that is the reason for the "bland" and most certainly not a lack of effort or seasonings. I tasted a nice umami flavor, but it was very faint in the sauce. I will give them another shot, and I will report back, everyone has a bad day occasionally.
