For years, I've driven past this food truck without realizing what I was missing! I finally tried it for the first time in January, and I've already been back three times since. My go-to order is the Halal chicken over rice and a side of falafel. The chicken over rice comes with perfectly seasoned chicken, bell peppers, and onions, served on a bed of basmati rice with a salad mix, two pieces of pita bread, and both red and white sauce. The portions are generous, and the price is very reasonable. As for the falafel, it's some of the best I've had in Winston-Salem. It's light, flavorful, and not greasy just the perfect balance. You can order from the truck directly, call ahead, or even use Uber Eats. Personally, I like calling ahead, and the owner is always super friendly! I'll definitely be returning again and again.

Though I'd passed this colorful food truck a number of times, this was my first visit. It is now located in a lot at 815 Waughtown Street, and has operated in this area for over 5 years! I ordered the Lamb Gyro and a rice bowl with Chicken and Lamb. The food was ready in about 10 minutes, and there was a massive amount of food - easily 5 pounds of food for about $17 - if you can find more for that money, take it! The gyro was loaded, really loaded, with delicious, tender cubes of lamb, with plenty of grilled onions, lettuce and some green pepper, all wrapped in a large, very flavorful pita, smothered in the outstanding house made white sauce - always seen it called Halal Cart WhiteSauce, may have another name. This gyro is different from the Greek version, but is a great sandwich in it on right - and rivals similar street food found in Manhattan - the first place I ever encountered this type food! The Chicken and Lamb Rice Bowl was also very large, with big amounts of lamb and chicken resting of very tasty rice. There are wedges of pita, slices of cucumber, and shredded lettuce - the house white sauce goes really well with it all, including the " salad"! I would suggest ordering additional pita for this dish. Just like the Gyro this dish rivals the NYC street food version found all over Manhattan. As mentioned above the lamb is very tasty, and the chicken was as well, and it bears the characteristic red color coming from a dusting of a tandoori or Kashmiri type pepper mix. I would suggest mixing a portion of the two sauces together for the meat - outstanding flavor combo. This is another ethnic gem that I hope Winston will continue to support - I certainly intend to do my part, often! Ambiance - 0 Food - 5 Service - 5 Value - 5

This is one of the best places in all of Winston. Made fresh, but pretty fast. So flavorful. Very filling. I got a lamb gyro. I wanted some rice as well, so also got falafel over rice. I have leftovers for days! Not mad about it! Hamad is very friendly. His food is amazing.

First time to try this food truck and it didn't disappointed my taste buds. The owner chef is so accommodating and really nice in sharing his roots and how he started his food truck business in 2018. Yes he's five years in this location and I've been driving passing his food truck for five years because he opens @ 11AM 'till 9PM. After reading so many reviews from Google I finally decided to try this food truck of Halal Foods. Ordered 3 different gyros chicken, lamb and kebabs. And yes all foods that I've ordered are simply amazingly delicious Definitely going back to try more of their menus. Thanks Sir Hamad! #awesomefoods

This is probably the 6th time I've been and the food is always delicious. My sons both love the food just as much as I do. Good service, great food, always hot and fresh. Get the Gyros, they are

    Chapli Kebab - chicken patties

Chapli? Seekh? Chana? Tikka? While there might be some unfamiliar names, there are photos on the truck to help guide you along. Chana is a chickpea dish, but I was most confused by the two kababs, Chapli and Seekh. Both are made from chicken, and I tried the Seekh on my last visit, a long ground chicken mixture, skewered and cooked. It has excellent flavor, which I actually prefer over the lamb and the tikka chicken. So tonight I decided to try the Chapli Kabab. These are large, flat, chicken patties, probably 5-6 ounces each, and they give you two of them on top of a bed of rice and salad, plus the delicious white sauce and hot sauce. The Chapli itself has a little more flavor and spice than the Seekh Kabob. It was really good, and with the two sauces poured on top, it makes a great spicy and creamy mixture that will make your nose run and your eyes water. These are cooked to order and so worth the $9.99 price tag.

Craving something Mediterranean, something international and authentic. Shish House popped up on my radar and I stopped in for an early weekday lunch. They have the usual and traditional Mediterranean dishes, but I wanted something different today. Went with some authentic Yemeni food. I ordered the Fahsah Lehm. This is a Saltah (traditional Yemeni stew) with melt in your mouth lamb that came out piping hot and bubbling in a clay bowl (see vid). You can feel, hear, smell and taste the authenticity in this dish. Spices and flavors flowing all over. It comes out with an amazing garlic sauce and a Yemeni style green sauce, almost like a salsa. And if that wasn't enough, you get the biggest clay oven bread (a Yemeni Malawah) you have ever seen. Words don't do it justice, see pics for details. This is honestly the perfect edible shovel. Tear some off, scoop up some bubbling lamb and spices, then drag it through the garlic and green sauce. Get messy...flavor the authenticity this dish explodes with. One of the best international experiences which transports you somewhere else. And it's just a small unassuming spot in the international corridor on Market St by Super G Mart. ***PLACES LIKE THIS DEFINE MY LOVE FOR FOOD, AND WHAT MORE FOOD CAN DO THAN JUST SATIATE HUNGER. The menu is not too complicated. I ordered the chicken Sambosa. I think I would prefer if it was a vegetable Sambosa. I also ordered the lamb shawarma. It wasn't bad. I tasted my friend's hummus and tabbouleh. Both were good. The service was just ok. Our waitress dropped our drinks and food off and left us alone. The food wasn't bad. I think I would come again if I'm in the area. The mint lemonade was delicious. There isn't much to the decor or ambiance.

Where else can you get a salad with pasta salad, piyaz, and grape leaves in it? Talk about so many Mediterranean flavors in one bowl! Our server was great; she was very attentive, checking in on us and refilling our waters when needed. Our food came out quickly, and it was fresh and delicious. My spouse ordered the Duram Adana, which was full of flavor, and was definitely spicy. Our only critique was that it came with a bag of chips, though you can get a different side for an upcharge. We shared the Mixed Appetizer plate, which came with hummus, baba ganoush, piyaz, grape leaves, and fresh pita. The baba ganoush was beautifully smoky, and the pita was pillow-y soft. Whether you're looking for a quick lunch spot, or a cute place for date night, be sure to check out Sumela for a great, local place.

I began working for myself around that time and don't eat out much anymore but I do occasionally still make it in when I meet friends or family for lunch. I've noticed a more prominent social media presence lately and in those posts Turkish pizza, pide, was featured. I'm in! We started our dinner with an order of falafel. It's one of my favorite dishes and I make it at home occasionally. My husband ordered the Adana Kebab and I of course just had to try the pide. The choices were only beef or spinach so spinach it was, since we had beef with the other entree. We almost always eat half and switch plates, so we can try several things and this was no exception. As always the adana was delicious, I just love the seasonings in the meat. The tabouleh was very different than I remembered though, consisting of way more greens than much of anything else so the flavor just wasn't the best for me. The pide was yummy, simple and flavorful, a perfect size for a lunch portion in my opinion. Filling but you wouldn't be stuffed. The staff were very attentive and as always, the owner made a few rounds in the dining room. It's great to see a local business standing the test of time and still cranking out good eats!
