    Enjoyed my dinner at Saffys but I think the most memorable part was the Azorean wine which is hard to come by in LA and always delicious. The skewers certainly were good too, my favorite was the Iberian pork and veal kebab. The chicken shishlik was probably my second favorite followed by the lamb and beef shishlik which were I thought just ok. Same with the marinated olives, which were a nice snack before the main meal. I was actually pretty impressed with the gem salad though it was not very large to share among a group. The hummus ful came with delicious bread that I liked too. Mushrooms were good but I recently had killer mushrooms elsewhere so these just paled in comparison All in all none of the food was bad but I certainly will not be battening down the hatches to come here again soon. Not to mention our servers weren't particularly the most friendly despite our exorbitant bill

    The latest spot from the Bestia and Bavel team. Visited for a birthday and the energy was great, though it didn't quite hit the same highs as their other spots. * Hummus & Onion and Endive: The absolute highlights. Flavors were on point. * The Catch: Overall, the seasoning was way too aggressive. The salt/spice level was so intense it was actually a bit hard to finish the meal. * Wine Pairing: A crisp glass of white wine is a must--it was the only thing saving me from the heavy, over-seasoned dishes. Service was decent. Professional enough, but nothing extraordinary. Verdict: A bit of a letdown. Visually stunning and definitely has the "cool" factor but they need to dial back the salt.

    Parking is challenging but street parking and valet are two best option. Street parking down the street helps but be on the luck permit signs. Love the outdoor space and indoor mix. Though I feel inside was a bit cramped. We wanted to order some special items but they were out of it so we have to keep the items basic : gem salad,lobster skewers and beef kebabs. All are insatiable ! Will return for the items once more.

    Came here to catch up with a friend and had a lovely Sunday evening dinner here on the patio. The items we ordered: Peruvian scallop crudo - fresh and packs a punch of heat Hummus tahini - creamy and well done, perfect to dip with the toast Gem Salad - fresh and well dressed for a perfect bite each time Beets - the eggplant puree this was served in was superb Saffy's Dish Kebab - unique and a huge portion, the meat was tender and juicy and served with very flavorful yogurt and rice Try the cocktails too, the Bee's Knees and my favorite the Mango Lassi, were very refreshing. Would love to come back sometime and try a few of the other items.

    I really liked this spot. Went on a Saturday night around 7:30 and it was really crowded but they managed to get us seated. The food everyone was ordering looked super good. We started with the hummus tahini with their house bread which was pretty tasty as a starter. Then we shared the dish kabob which came with yogurt and turmeric rice. Also very good. I loved the onions and tomatoes in it and we poured the meat juice over the rice with yogurt and then squeezed the line over it. Chefs kiss . Ambiance was lively and social. Would go back to try the pomegranate lamb! They ran out when we tried to order as it's pretty popular.

    I love both Saffy's and Bestia. I hadn't been to Saffy's in a year or more and I remember it being very good. This time we came for brunch (mid Feb.) and it was as I remember it, but dinner is definitely more so my vibe. For brunch, we ordered the lamb pita (my favorite, eat it while it's hot), shakshuka, warm pita and hummus, and whichever salad was newly added to the menu. Everything was delicious, but the pita was my favorite. Very satisfying with the pickles! Parking in the area sucks, there's valet AT DINNER time, and the restaurant closes at 2pm if you're coming for lunch. Service was polite, but unfortunately we had to leave as they were re-opening for dinner. All in all, come for dinner and try some delicious Middle Eastern food.

    It's so weird to eat somewhere when everything tastes amazing, except the thing you really wanted. It's an unusual experience emotionally haha. Anyway what I loved was that you had your choice of free water in the forms of still or sparkling. You get your own dispenser you can use. Next, let's talk about the Arabic breakfast. The salad was made well and the dressing felt quite balanced. The brioche had everything you would want in a brioche and the seeds gave it a nice touch. This was made extremely well. The clotted cream with wildflower honey, you could tell the ingredients were of the highest quality. The feeling you get when you eat this is of top tier ingredients and it just is quite satisfying. I love how the olives were marinated as well. In the shakshuka, you could tell they source dark yolk eggs, because the eggs have so much flavor. Where it all fell short for me though was the shakshuka itself. I love shakshuka. But not this one. When the entire Arabic breakfast came out, the first thing I asked was if I ordered the shakshuka individually, if it would be bigger or the same size. They said it would be the same size, which was disappointing, because this is the smallest shakshuka I have ever seen. Next, instead of being piping hot like a fresh shakshuka made in its own cocotte like how other places do it, the shakshuka was quite lukewarm. It wasn't nearly as satisfying as other shakshukas I have had. While the shakshuka had flavor, it lacked the boldness I would've expected from such a dish, which left me disappointed. But everything else was amazing, which makes the experience really weird. Like you have everything you can rave about, but sometimes you can't, so I don't know. The service is cool. You order at the counter and someone brings your food out. The ambiance is chill and outdoors or indoors with big tables. It's a neat spot. If I come back, I'm definitely going to order something else instead, because this isn't really a shakshuka spot to me...

    I enjoy Saffy's and know I'll get a good meal whenever I come here. My 2 friends and I met a reservation and were seated quickly. The server recommend recommended that we get 3 to 4 appetizers and entrées to share. We ended up getting five appetizers and one entrée to share and thought it was more than enough food. We ended up actually packing them and taking it to go. (honestly if I can do everything over again, I would've taken out the entrée, which consisted of two kebabs). What we got: Appetizers - gem salad: not only is the salad really pretty but it's very tasty. It's super easy to share because it's like a little lettuce cups so it's easily divisible. - Green falafel: also a very easy dish to share since all the falafel comes individually. It comes on top sauce, which was all a great flavor combination. The falafel was nicely flavored and had a good texture. - hummus ful: incredibly creamy hummus. I love the bread that it came with. The hard boiled egg was also a great combo w the hummus bread! We ended up having to get more bread in order to eat the rest of the hummus! - shrimp and vegetable tempura: this came in three big pieces of shrimp and vegetable tempura. It didn't come separately like shrimp versus veggies. Rather it came all combined together, which made it very easy to divide and conquer between the three of us. Nice creamy sauce it came with. - roasted mushroom: this appetizer was also very tasty. It comes with a runny egg in the middle that you're supposed to pull towards the mushrooms. It's a good dish, but without something to sop it up, it was kind of runny. You need either bread or rice or something with it. Entree - 2 skewers: Chicken: this came in 2 big pieces/chunks which was a tad awkward for sharing between 3 people but the chicken itself was good and juicy. Beef kebab: this is like a ground beef kebab so it was easy to break apart and had a good amount of spices in it. Overall, a lovely time and always a solid meal. I'd recommend to any of my friends! :) My only hyper specific quirk was that I had some cork pieces in my wine and I had informed the server about it. The server came back with wine in a cup that I assume was the same (since it had lip marks on it?). I guess my one suggestion(?) would be that I would've appreciated a new glass and the wine being poured in front of me bc it sent my mind spiraling whether the cup was mine or a different cup, whether i was given the same wine w just the cork pieces removed (and if so... how did they remove it?), or if they tossed the wine and just refilled my glass. lol! It's so insignificant but it still lingered in my mind through dinner and even on the drive home. I recognize it's such a dumb thing to be hung up on and I'm sure it's the latter scenario (new wine in same glass), but yeah... dunno why it stuck with me. Maybe it's an appearances thing for peace of mind? (This is def more about my personal quirks than the restaurant!) This 100% doesn't change my feelings about this place at all! I still love Saffy's, have been here before, and fully intend to come back again! Lastly~ parking: $13 valet, metered street parking, or free parking 2 blocks down. Beware of permitted parking on residential side streets.

    As a fan of Bestia and Bavel, I had similar expectations for Saffy's, which is the 3rd restaurant from its owners. It's been a highly recommended foodie destination for some time now, but that didn't stop it from being packed with a lively, buzzy crowd on a Friday evening. My husband I ordered the following: - Hummus Ful (3.5/5): This was the most highly recommended appetizer, so I wanted to see what the hummus was all about. It came with a soft, jammy egg that we broke up into the hummus, along with two thick slices of challah bread. It's different from the typical pita bread that tends to accompany hummus, and while it was soft and fluffy, I didn't find anything notable about this dish. - Peruvian Scallop Crudo (5/5): Each small bite packed a bright punch of flavor that was both citrusy and spicy. The scallops were so tender and refreshing; I could've eaten another five plates of this if I had no self control. - Beef & Lamb Kebab (3.5/5): The beef was tender and flavorful, where you could taste the char from the open fire grill it was just cooked in. Enjoyable, but not especially distinctive. Comparable dishes can be found at half the price in many Middle Eastern spots around LA. My husband ordered the lamb kebab and had similar sentiments. - Red Snapper Tagine (3.5/5): I had never had tagine before so I was most excited for this dish. The presentation when it was served was impressive, but the flavors, again were nothing notable. The sauce was thin and watery and fish was also a bit overcooked and not tender. - Pluot Cobbler (3.5/5) - I love stone fruit and had been eyeing this dessert but it just wasn't all that memorable. The sweet cheese biscuit was a bit too strong in the cheese flavor and wasn't a great complement to the sweet and tangy pluots. Our server provided decent service, but towards the end of our meal when things got busier, we didn't hear from him much as much. The service reminded me of my last experience at Bavel, where the same thing happened when the restaurant filled up. While I'm glad we finally tried Saffy's to see what the hype was all about, it felt like more like you're paying more for the vibes. I can see how this restaurant can be fun to visit for a night on the town, but in terms of Middle Eastern food, I'd probably stick to the Glendale area instead.

    Came here for a girls' dinner and were really excited since this is the team behind Bestia and Bavel (both favorites of ours). Saffy's did not disappoint. Even on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was full, bustling, and buzzing with energy. The crowd was definitely trendy, which added to the fun vibe. Parking-wise, there is valet, but I was able to find street parking without too much trouble. Heads up: they won't seat you until your full party is present. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's table, which was a great experience to see the kitchen at work. Starters: * Peruvian scallops - super refreshing with the citrus amba, though it definitely has a little kick * Roasted celery root - WOW. I had no idea celery root could taste that good! Main Dish: * Saffy's Dish Kebab - we snagged the last one and it was mind-blowingly good. So tender and flavorful. My only wish is that it was served on a metal plate so it stayed warmer, as the meat cooled down fairly quickly. * Red snapper Tagine - Delicious and nicely cooked. Dessert sealed the deal -- the banana cake with swirl soft serve was fantastic and the perfect way to end the meal. We ended up being some of the last people in the restaurant. They never rushed us, though we could tell they were starting to clean up, so we wrapped things up on our own. Service throughout the night was friendly and attentive, with staff checking in just the right amount. One thing to note: there is a 4% Healthy LA surcharge to support staff health and medical benefits. Overall, a great dinner and absolutely worth checking out if you love Bestia and Bavel.

    If you've got cool thick glasses and great hair you are in! The vibe is cool. The drinks are creative and refreshing. The hummus and thick cut seed crusted brioche type bread is other worldly. The pickled vegetables were crisp with a delightful brightness - the blocks of cheese were chalky and unpleasant. The falafel is out of this world - hot, not too large, elevated. The charred celery root is reminiscent of sunchokes - savory and satisfying. The kebabs came on swords like the needle of Aria Stark. The chicken was moist and flavorful but not special. The tres leches was saturated and lush; the praline soft serve was pedestrian and needed a crunch to elevate it. Overall, epic meal with minor room for improvement.

    Ambiance is good. Nothing to complain, given it's a $$$ scale place. Food was very average, given the high price I paid. Among most of the higher scale Mediterranean /middle eastern places I've been, I'd vote for Rumis kitchen over this at all time. Service was mid - they didn't let me in because Im missing a member from a party - that is such a stupid rule. They also didn't let me order appetizers early and insisted on ordering everything at once. Why is that? The waiter kept rushing us to finish food. I was a bit upset by her attitude. Food was just ok honestly. I expected so much more

    First time at Saffy's and would recommend it to anyone who loves elevated Mediterranean. Compared to the sister restaurant Bavel, Saffy's is a more casual affair but with just as much flavor and attention to ingredients. Would definitely recommend it as a nice date night or group dinner spot. Both the indoor and outdoor seating was really nice and chic. We managed to get an early dinner reservation for Saturday night and saw that as it got later, the more the crowd grew waiting to be seated. Would definitely recommend coming with a reservation, especially during prime time on the weekends. Parking situation echoes other reviews, it's not great. All street parking with certain side streets being permit only in the evening so park with caution. Valet was $13 at the front of the restaurant at the time of this review. Now for the good stuff, the food. Peruvian Scallop Crudo: Amazing, especially if you're a fan of scallops. Super fresh and flavorful. One order comes with four scallops on the half shell. Hummus Ful: Debated between the Ful and the Tahini but the soft boiled egg on the Ful got us. Great texture and rich flavor, a must try. The accompanying Challah bread paired perfectly. Lobster Skewers: Pricey but worth it if you enjoy lobster. Cooked perfectly and had a nice little kick. About the same price as the entrees so I'd recommend it if you're feeling sumptuous. Wood-Fire Shawarma Plate: Lamb and Wagyu Beef, you really can't go wrong. The meat was really tender and rich, the lamb flavor was a little strong so I'd only order if you enjoy lamb, which we did. Skewers - Chicken and Beef Shishlik: Skewers caught us by surprise and ended up being one of our favorite parts of the dinner, especially the chicken. Chicken was cooked skin on which got super crispy and flavorful. The accompanying laffa and tahini sauce were excellent paired with the meat. Waitress warned us it was a bit spicy but we didn't think so at all (we're also used to spice). Banana Cake: Banana flavored desserts are really getting their moment (as they should be). Think of this like a banana bread with frosting and pecans. We'd order this again for sure. Soft serve with Chocolate Shell: Nothing too crazy but it was a refreshing finish to the dinner on a warm evening. The tartness of the mandarin helped balance out the sweetness of the chocolate.

    Moderately noisy.

    Any updates with dog policy for 2024? Are they still allowed at the outdoor patio?

    I saw a lady with 2 dogs on the patio around 8pm so I want to say they are still allowed.

    No it's not

    What on the menu is vegan?

    Not much. You can probably view the menu on line or call them.

    How much is corkage?

    $40 per bottle. Max 2 bottles. Ridiculous.

    The meat is not Halal

    Is there valet?

    Yes, and quite affordable.

    Is it stroller/kid friendly?

    Not really inside (pretty cramped) but maybe outside

    Are dogs allowed on the patio?

    When I went for dinner there was no patio

    What is the parking situation?

    Use the valet. The neighborhood streets (except for meters) are no parking after 6 PM and they ticket like crazy every time I am here. :(

We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!

The bartender was white, and my date and I are both Asian, which is the only reason I could think of for why he might have refused to serve us. Very troubling experience all around. I don't recommend this place.

Indoor and outdoor seating available, Bar Henry is a cool little for in Echo Park serving up tasty cocktails in a friendly, local feeling environment. We tried a few cocktails when we visited. The Butthole Surfer is their version of a pina colada which, while decent, could have been a little more flavor forward. Feel it is premade in batches as I didn't see it made fresh but was brought getting the back, but still decent. The Lucid Dream had the smokiness from the mezcal posted with the mandarin, but then the rosemary comes in and helps add a little balance to the drink. The Swimsuit Edition was more flavor forward, but the passion fruit didn't necessarily pop in the drink for us. And finally was the Snitches Get Stitches, another mezcal drink with mango and horchats. Interesting was my first thought, then you start getting the nuances of the different interested and it's a respectable cocktail.
