One of the worst tres leches I have tried. Each culture does it differently which is understandable however this one fell flat. No flavor or sweetness that jumps out. It tastes like box yellow cake with whole milk poured on top. No aromatic flavors. $8 for the tiniest piece as well. The place is super pretty. Looks very clean inside.

A friend of mine brought baklava from this bakery to a dinner party at my house yesterday. I consider myself a baklava snob, having tasted some of the best while gallivanting through Istanbul Turkey. Pistachio baklava is literally my weakness, so when I put the pistachio rolled baklava in my mouth, you can only imagine the surprise, shock and utter delight I felt all at once. The filling was fresh, exterior pastry was crispy, buttery, soaked with syrup in every layer, yet still holding its shape. This is some of the best baklava I've had outside of Istanbul, and that is high praise. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, you have to stop by here and get a few pieces especially of the pistachio rolled pastry, that thing is a work of art.

The service is horrid. It could possibly be because I only ordered 2 pieces of baklava for myself. The lady behind the counter was nasty; the way she spoke and facial expression. Not only did I noticed her attitude, but also my partner. It was extremely noticeable. The baklava wasn't even that crispy at the bottom. It was old baklava. Overall, the food sucks and same for her attitude.

Best baklava in the area, even worth traveling from the other boroughs for. It is so flaky, sweet, made fresh and delicious. The baklava is by the pound. Most of the options are pistachio, some are walnut. Happy they opened up the other half of the cafe. Great meeting spot to catch up with friends. I have not tried their other bakery items or cakes but will definitely return! Located on Kings Highway, a very busy neighborhood. Street parking or take the b/q train to the Kings Highway stop.

Came by in the afternoon for a quick snack after going for a walk around the area - place was quite spacious and accommodating of my baby as he napped in the stroller next to our table. Having never really tried a Turkish bakery before, I had no idea what most of the offerings were and the lady behind the counter was nice and patient enough to give me quick descriptions of the pastries they had. I ordered two savory breads but wasn't too impressed by the very scant amount of cheese and meat filling. The lentil soup was delicious, hearty and spiced. Their famous baklava was great - tried a few of their varieties, enjoyed the rich pistachio flavor; definitely very sweet so it was perfect for sharing before it got too cloying.

I've driven past Safir so many times and didn't have the time to stop. I made a beautiful eggplant dip for a friend and thought some pita or Turkish flatbread would be great with it. Well they wouldn't sell me the two packages of bread left because it wasn't baked this morning. They don't bake bread Sunday morning but they had simit! I've made simit and I think it's better than a bagel. Light, crisp and covered in sesame seeds. The baklava...on another level! They all look absolutely beautiful! I bought a small sampling of different ones, walnut, pistachio, not overly heavy on the syrup or too sweet. They are heavenly Baklava is one of my favorite sweet pastry to have and I will be going back for more. Store is spotless by the way and lovely people at the counter. American coffee is on the side and you make it yourself but they do have a coffee machine for something special and Turkish tea. You have to come, they also have savory pastries which I will order next time.

I was craving for Turkish baked goods so I visited here last weekend. As soon as I enter I could tell this place was good. Very clean, nicely decorated, happy customers and workers. The girl who helped me was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I like to try baklava from many stores and compare. This place Baklava is pretty good. Very distinctive than other Turkish bakeries. It has after taste of butter and something tastes like condensed milk(?), maybe great for a couple or a few piece. Then it becomes too sweet to me. So i could not eat whole a lot but perfect for a few pieces. The bread there are very delicious. I have been looking for my favorite Turkish bakery and So far this place beats many places for it. Chocolate croissant is super delicious. Nice dark chocolate but not bitter, and perfectly flaky outside. I never had that good one ever. The spinach and cheese pastries are great, too. Its usually very strong taste from other Turkish Bakeries but one from here has less strong but still has good flavor. Even my sons who usually hates those bread enjoy it for the first time. Overall it is a super nice bakery!

Soggy baklava, zero crisp. Tasteless. I bought 3 kinds of baklava from Safir Bakery and unfortunately all were soft and super soggy. I expect my baklava to be flaky and crispy. Also there was no taste. I don't recommend it. What a waste of money! Never again!

I ordered an omelette with french fries on the side for pick-up, I didn't check the inside of my bag because I had to rush out. While the omelette was fine, I ended up paying $9 for these french fries which didn't even fill the whole container. It is a ridiculous price and portion for something so basic...

I was in the neighbourhood picking up dinner after visiting the beach, and I thought Hey, why not pick up some of my favourite tea. I ask the folks in the restaurant and they sent me over to the bakery. When I arrived, they were on their A game. Their social distancing plan and sanitizing table was great. I was able to get in feel comfortable browsing the baked goods without being crowded by other people. The cashier was super nice and ended up getting my tea with a ladder. I'm so glad I got it! The staff here are quite friendly. When I first came here, they didn't have a lot of choices on the menu. But I think they're planning on expanding it slowly since the last time I went there, the menu seemed to have a bit more to offer. Their eclairs and bread are my favorite, especially when I want to indulge myself a little after a Sunday morning run. Pair it with the Turkish tea and you're good to go. Just be sure not to add any sugar or milk in it though, since the rich and slightly bitter drink is perfect with the sweets they sell there. Go ahead and try their breakfast breads! They hear it up for you and it's extremely delicious! Seating is a bit limited though since it is a small quaint cafe. Bring a few friends over and have a chat with breakfast. Very quiet and relaxing for those who like to enjoy a bit of solitude once in a while. read more

Very quite place. This place my favorite place, because I like sweets. I can't imagine my life without baklava Safir bakery makes one of the best baklava. This place near to my college And everyday I am buying 2 pieces and enjoing to eat them on the break)) Taste as good as they look. They have to much kind of baklavas. Very disappointed , Sunday 08/09 I went to buy Turkish desserts after ordering desserts, the worker from this place went to the back and grab desserts from the back I asked her if they fresh she assure me that they are, after getting home I tried and they were hard like a rocks looks like they've been there for a month.So I came today to the store to replace the order first I was refused of exchange second I got yelled by the worker.She was very rude and unprofessional, she told me go and fun myself.There was no sociAl distance in that store was crowded.I would never advice anyone to go to that store AGAIN.IF I COULD I WOULD HAVE GIVE THEM 0!!!! read more

I usually go to the one on kings highway but decided to give this location a try since the one on kings highway is always out of stuff. Came to this Avenue u location on Sunday (19th May). The lady behind the counter was really rude. An old man pointed to the milk pudding & asked her what it was & she said "it's nothing". Are you serious? What you don't wanna sell it to him? I told her to give me two pieces of each of the desserts & she got mad at me because SHE THOUGHT I said half a pound. How is it my fault that you can't differentiate between half a pound & two pieces??? Also she overcharged me! Never coming to this location again. I'll just stick to the one on kings highway. read more

A nice bakery to enjoy a Turkish breakfast. Because they are the guys who bake many of the Turkish goodies that you find for sale at other stores, theirs are always fresh! Service is friendly and the coffee is good. I like that they cut the borek into pieces when serving it to you. read more

One of the best, freshest, most amazing bakeries in the area. Thankfully they don't carry the same boring, trite, predictable goods as most of the surrounding area. A little something for everyone The only issue it can be a little pricey for certain things. read more

Came here during my lunch break. Read some reviews before making my purchase. My spouse likes baklava, so decided to give it a try. $4 for 4 pieces of sweets, seems average. Although, Istanbul on Bay Parkway have bigger slices. Overall, the taste of the pastry is really sweet as expected. Wouldn't mind going back to try different types of pastries. read more

I stopped by here on a hazy Saturday afternoon. There's plenty of seating and the cashier was extremely nice and very patient with me when I asked her many questions about the desserts. I had the baklava and Turkish coffee. The baklava was delightfully tender and sweet. The coffee was brewed fresh and was an excellent afternoon pick-me-up. I'll definitely be back. The only negative comment I have is that the ventilation is poor. Hopefully they'll have the AC up and running around summer time. read more

I told my husband to grab food and pastries from this place because we had his Albanian family coming over for the first time, and I must say that the food and pastries were soooo delicious -- such a huge hit! I was never a BIG fan of Turkish food or desserts, but I am now (or at least from this place). I strongly recommend going here and trying their stuff. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is the real deal, folks. As another review points out, there are only a handful of places in NYC at this echelon, including Güllüoğlu, that execute Turkish pastries this well. In fact, this may be the best of them. I haven't been disappointed by anything I've gotten there and have especially liked their revani, semolina cookies, and of course the baklava (try the one with coconuts and milk pudding). read more

They have opened new spot on Kings Hwy and E18th street. Since it is new decided to check it out. Bought some pastry and cake, pastries are not sweet at all. Same goes to the cake. Disappointed for buying untasty and not sweet things. Not going ever back. They have some people inside sitting and pretending they are ordering sweets - now I see that they are friends and relatives making this place to look busy and attracting customers. read more

When here yesterday. Napoleon and eclar cream was so hurrable that we had to put everything in a garbage. Two girls that worked over there we answering every question like they doing you a favor. The bottom line it was a waste of money and time. Worth bakery in a area. read more

Lady who works there in the morning is always rude and gives attitude. I ignored her until today, when she even refused to sell me a small tray of "baklava". I asked her why is that so, she replied back by saying you have to order it two days in advance. WHAT??? It was my favorite place to go to almost every day, but after having an impolite conversation with staff I will not even bother myself to think about this place. Sad because I loved going there for a morning coffee and a nice treat. PS: Teach your staff for some good manners!!! read more

Worst experience yesterday Monday May 27th. I rushed from Taci's Beyti after iftar to make it here before it closed since I travel from Long Island all the way to brooklyn for Turkish food. I got here 8:50(still 10 minutes before closing) and the lady behind the register threw a huge attitude, sigh of frustration at me for coming. She yelled we are closed while throwing her hands up. Never seen such horrible customer service especially since there was a whole 10 minutes before closing. I left empty handed and frustrated at her behavior. Will not be returning and suggest anyone who values customer service to not go here. read more

Had a really good experience. The girl there was really sweet explaining the different types of baklava. Took a couple home. There really good. I'm used to the Syrian and Lebanese version which are usually a little sweeter. But she gave me a heads up before hand that the Turkish ones would be slightly less sweet. Really liked the OG Baklava :))) read more

The Baklava here is great! Was in the neighborhood today and wanted some Baklava. I prefer pistachio Baklava and the last time I had really excellent Baklava was in the Middle East. The Baklava here is among the best I've ever had. Delicious flavor and not overly sweet. The person in the bakery was very friendly and asked how I wanted them packaged and if I needed any plastic utensils. Excellent food and excellent, friendly service. Can't ask for anything else. Will definitely come here again when I'm nearby. Wish I lived closer. read more

I have been to this place many times. I tried their cakes, baklava, and other desserts. The cake with pistachio is one of my favorite. The place is like bakery-cafe. When you eat in there, they serve the Turkish tea with traditional tea cup and it is amazing for me. I love their pastries too. I recently got a lot of baklava ( big triangle shape one called "havuc dilimi" in Turkish) from them. And the taste was very close to original baklava that I ate in Gaziantep(Turkey) which is also my hometown so trust me I know what I am talking about ;) . There are a lot of places that sell baklava but this place has one of the best baklava in New York. You should also try traditional Turkish bagel called "Simit". The cashiers who work there are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit them soon. read more

Very good place for Turkish deserts. It's also a cafe with few tables inside, though I've never stayed there. Not a huge selection, but good enough for me. And, they have one of the best Napoleon cakes I've ever tried. read more

Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the new location of Safir Bakery on Avenue U, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. My visit was somewhat spontaneous--I just happened to be in the area and decided to stop by--but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in a while. I ordered the Safir Deluxe Breakfast Plate, and wow, it was nothing short of incredible. The plate was loaded with an assortment of premium cheeses, each one more flavorful than the last. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the presentation was just as impressive as the taste. To complement the meal, I had a cup of traditional Turkish tea, which was the perfect accompaniment--rich, aromatic, and soothing. Everything about the meal was exceptional, from the freshness of the ingredients to the careful preparation. The atmosphere of the bakery was warm and inviting, making the experience even more enjoyable. I can't recommend Safir Bakery enough. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit--it's definitely going to become a regular spot for me. Just saw a video on Instagram where the server actually recorded a patron (face exposed) and attempts to embarrass the patron by saying his date was sad because the person wanted to split the bill with her. Regardless of what your beliefs are about paying, no way should workers be Internet headhunting their patrons. read more
