I usually only post reviews for 5 star experiences. However this place was so bad I had to give a review. We went to dinner on a Sat night (6:30) and the music was like a night club. Hard to have a nice "dining" experience with beats pumping at a high level. They also had the TV on and the weather channel was showing bug bites! We asked if they would change it but they ignored us. As we were waiting for our entree to come out (about 30 mins), they cranked this ridiculous bday song to celebrate someone's birthday. It was so obnoxious. We then decided to get the rest of our food to go. Service also sucked as we sat with empty app dishes and empty glasses for at least 15 mins. Food was average. read more

It's been awhile since I've been completely blown away by a dining experience but this was definitely one of them. The front people were courteous and sat us down at our reservation time. Let us know that it may be a 15-20 minute wait for a cook because they were short staffed, I appreciated the honesty. The chef was HILARIOUS, really knew how to work the crowd. Since it was my husband and mine 6 year anniversary we decided to take the kids out with us on our dinner and a movie date. Our hibachi guys was very accommodating. He met all of my 3 year old son's demands and went out of his way to make it an enjoyable. The hibachi was very good, the sushi however was not impressive. I'm so upset at the customer service and rudeness of the staff. First, they gave my husband the wrong order which he checked once he got to the car. When he brought it back in the cashier was rude when he told her it was the wrong order. He asked for his money back and the slip to show the credit. When he came home finally with our order that was still not correct. I called and the staff member was rude and actually asked me if I knew how to order. I drove back to pick up my order and said I wanted a refund for the meal I didn't order she asked if I brought it. Um my husband brought it home could have done something to it and they wanted it back? I could not believe the rudeness and unprofessional staff and service. As out of towner Long Island sushi snobs, we are tough to please. Having said that, this place was quite a pleasant surprise. We stayed at the adjacent Marriott hotel, and decided to walk here for dinner. Menu is not kid friendly, so plan accordingly. The Miso soup is huge, hot, tasty, and a great value. The California Roll was perfect, they include cucumber like it should be included, could not have been better. Shrimp tempura roll was also very good. Incredible roll was a perfect 10, great value, huge, tasty, nice presentation. They charge $2.50 for a pot of green tea which is tacky for a Japanese restaurant. The green tea could have tasted better, but it wasn't "bad". The water was filtered, good, and came with lemon wedge. The Thom yum goong soup was an expensive $8.00, but worth it. It was hot, the broth was excellent, and it was loaded with shrimp, scallops, mussels, zucchini, etc. We were stuffed and had no room for dessert. Overall, thumbs up. We visited this restaurant last summer with a family friend and his five year old son. We dined in the hibachi section and had a great time. We returned this evening with his grandparents, sat in the main restaurant, and had a less than satisfying experience. We arrived at 9:30 for dinner; closing time is 11:00. Shortly after we sat down one of the staffers came to our table and wanted to remove the candle. Things went downhill from there. The martinis were so salty they were barely drinkable. The food ranged from average to poor. The chicken in the teriyaki chicken appeared to have been steamed and placed upon a thin teriyaki sauce. To make matters worse our waiter appeared three times to ask how things were going and to clear every dish as soon as it was empty. Then he stood there watching us eat, all the while assuring us that there was "no hurry." At that point I lost it and asked him to not come back until we signaled that we were done. The music in the background was unnecessarily loud and bore no relationship to Japanese culture. Some bad rap and terrible tango music! Note to owner. You need to make your guests feel welcome and enjoy their meal at their own pace, especially when they arrive 90 minutes before closing. If you want to stay in business with mediocre food, you need to provide superlative service. Unfortunately you didn't. read more

Beware of this place! They gave my husband a dirty glass (it looked like it had old cheese on it or something!). It was obvious the waitress noticed because she was immediately nervous when my husband asked her about it. Let me start by saying the food here is pretty good. It's not the best, but pretty good! I've ordered the sushi, hibachi steak, filet, scallops and salmon and I have enjoyed them all. The salmon portions are smaller than what I am used to at hibachi restaurants, but that's all. The rice could be better, it mimics American-Chinese fried rice. The times that I've gone, the fried rice has not had enough garlic and it was dry and overcooked. They don't use much butter, which I guess is healthier, but that combined with the overcooking of the rice ends up with dry, mushy rice. The last time that we were there, they used yum-yum sauce in cooking the rice. I don't know if that is new, or I just never noticed before. The service leaves a lot to be desired. They do the usual hibachi chef tricks, but aren't very friendly. When they are, it seems like they pick their favorite customers dining at the grill and are very chummy with them. You can tell which customers are regulars, easily. A couple of visits ago, the hibachi chef kept egging me on to have sake squirted in my mouth. I was having fun and it was date night, so I did. The chef "accidentally" missed my mouth and squirted my cleavage and everyone but my boyfriend and I laughed. The last time that we went, I was recovering from being ill and I also have been trying to drink less alcohol. I kept asking for water because I was beginning to get dizzy from dehydration and probably should have saved the night out for another time. The waitress was attentive and kept the water glasses coming, but the hibachi chef kept insisting that I drink the squirted sake. After several nervous smiles and "no thank yous" he said, "come on just open that big mouth of yours" and began laughing with the other customers (regulars, as he'd made mention to a few times). He then moved on to the next party with the sake squirt. I wanted to disappear. I do have full lips, and although I think they are beautiful, to have that happen after the last visit, really irritated me. I blame myself for not reporting these occurrences to management, but I've been here 10+ times, and the service issues I've encountered have only been in the last 2 visits. We shared a sushi roll. We decided on the "Incredible Roll" and it was exactly that. INCREDIBLE! We had a superb hibachi experience. Jorj had the steak and I had the shrimp. Both to perfection. Our cook was funny and very generous. Our waitress, Yuki, was an absolute doll. Nothing but smiles from beginning to end. She was extremely attentive and always making sure that everything we had was just the way we liked it. We didn't feel rushed at all, and at the same time, when we were ready to go, we weren't left waiting forever for our check. All things that, to me, will definitely have me coming back! I have enjoyed Saga and have dined there several times since it opened for both lunch and dinner. I think the sushi is very fresh. I am giving them 1 star because of the service. I have smiled and have been patient through the new restaurant kinks of being served the wrong food on multiple occasions and having to go find my waiter to get the check after waiting forever at lunch. What finally pushed me to write a review, was my birthday. They ruined my birthday. My husband made reservations for my family and friends of ours with their kids to go their for my birthday. He called the restaurant and asked them what time would be best and they told us 7:30. We got there at 7:20pm and was told it would be about 20 minutes, because they were waiting for a table to finish. An hour later, we were still waiting while we stood in their tiny vestibule being blasted by a sonic heater. At this point we finally decided to leave. We decided this when we saw people we knew, who were getting seated who came in about 30 minutes after us, as a walk-in. Those people happened to time their arrival to get the only bench to wait on inside the actual restaurant. I went in and told them we were leaving. Their response was why. I said because we have been waiting almost an hour for a reservation and now you just went and sat people who have been here 30 minutes. This is my birthday and I am tired of standing in a sauna waiting for a reservation that you clearly couldn't handle. First they told me that this party arrived before us. I told them, not they didn't. We know them and talked to them when they first came in and they asked what the wait was like. Then their response was that they were seating this party of 4 at the same hibachi table that they would be seating us at in just a couple of minutes. OK, that happens at hibachi, but if you have a party that has been standing, waiting almost an hour for a reservation in a tiny overheated space, wouldn't you seat them first before the party that had been waiting 30 minutes on a bench inside the temperature comfortable restaurant? They said they seated them first so that they would not be in the middle of our party. What??? The tables are U shaped and you sit around it. How would they end up in the middle of our party? At this point this is now me, the 2 hostesses and 2 managers. Any restaurant with good service would be apologizing profusely for making a party with a reservation, on someone's birthday, wait an hour and then accidentally seating someone before them. I think it would be time for Saga to say, let us buy you a round of drinks or dessert for all the inconvenience. Nope, nothing at all. We left and went down the street to another restaurant where I ended up with my 9 year old falling asleep in my lap while I was trying to eat dinner. read more

Review for take out rolls: time back to house 15 minutes. I have to stay I wasn't impressed at all. A friend told me here the sushi was great. So after doing errands I swung by to pick up two rolls on a more quiet Wednesday night at 8 pm. The place had some customers but not overly busy. I put in a order for a Rainbow Roll & a Wareham Roll. Bill came to $27. Eek. Wow. Usually went Im busy with errands Ill swing by New Tokyo in Plymouth and get approximately the same order. If you go there during the week it's usually Half off sushi nights so my bill come down to $12-14. Quality: I wasn't impressed. I've tried many sushi place but the Wareham rolls was coated in so much mayo sauce I couldn't taste the salmon. My first though was 'eeeew Wendy burger' due to all the oil & grease. It was soggy. Maybe with all the fast food joints in town the roll was living up to its name? That was a never again. The rainbow roll was lack crispness and flavor. It was kinda soggy. I'm not going back. Decided to try the sushi here just to change things up from where I usually go and I will not come back. Service was incredibly slow considering we were one of three tables in the restaurant. It took ten minutes before a waiter came over to take our drink order. We got the duck roll as an appetizer and there was a very tiny portion of duck.
