Our foursome played here several times in the past , nice course. I understand due to Covid that things have to be adjusted . They're charging extra to make up revenue loss for the stretching out of tee times..... 75 percent of the players we're using carts , very lucrative. the waits were ridiculous. We had the second tee time so the front 9 was fine...... but the back 9 , forget about it . We walked up to the tenth tee to find two other groups in front of us, when you add the one tee time that went out in front of us , that's quite a wait . We had no problem paying the extra money ....if they in fact were limiting the amount of golfers , but they jammed people in . Left a very bad taste in our mouths. Just a money grab.... Tyler, all I can comment on is for the time we were there. Aside from our foursome , the ONLY other people we saw walking , were the group directly put in front of us at the turn. Two men with what I'm assuming were their young sons . I play almost every day. The past two weeks I've played Reedy, Topsfield ,Peabody Meadow,Wenham CC, Rowley CC, Mount Hood, and Stoneham Oaks....and Sagamore. Sagamore is the ONLY place to add a surcharge to their greens fees....and the only place there was a backup. read more

Nice track but can get crowded even on weekdays. Greens in pretty good shape considering most players seem to forget to repair spike and ball marks. Sandwiches are good value at $4.50 and burgers were fresh on grill. $51 for 18 with cart pretty reasonable but be prepared for 4.5+ hr round. read more

Been playing at Sagamore for 20 plus years. Kept gravitating back there (after checking out every other golf course in the area), because the staff across the board are great, the course is picturesque and a lot of fun to play and the grounds crew work hard to keep the course in good shape - and even redesigned a few greens and fairways that look great. The complaints about slow play exist at every course but the staff did something about it a few years ago and spread out the tee times making things run very smoothly 99% of the time. It's a classic New England golf course that has been around since 1929. Highly recommended! read more

I love this course. The only complaint would be the pace of play. It's extremely frustrating waiting 10 minutes on every tee box. More often than not it'll be backed up on the second hole tee box. Despite the bad pace of play, the conditions are pretty good and it has relatively affordable prices. The starter seems to be a little out of it, and rangers are non existent, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. read more

I've been a regular at Sagamore for the last several years, playing at least once or twice a week. The course is usually in pretty good shape and most of the staff are very friendly. I'm a business owner as well, so I know how changeling it is to operate right now during this pandemic. However, why would a golf course engage in price gouging their loyal customers during this difficult time. I get the seasonal aspect of the business, but no other golf courses in the area have hiked their prices $20 to $25 to walk 18 during the week. Very poor business move in my opinion! read more

I was excited to see that golf opened up again but was disappointed in the course. Instead of inserting something in the hole to keep the ball from going to bottom of cup they elected to just raise the cups above level of playing surface. I know with Covid 19 there are some restrictions but not being able to hole the ball was sad. The rate was $65 walking on a Friday morning which I thought was a little steep. read more

Well, now I know why no one was at Reedy Meadows in Lynnfield last week. It's because they were golfing HERE! This is now my favorite local public course. 1) It's very well maintained. Excellent tees and fairways and rough and greens. The greens were recently airrated when I was there, which sucks - BUT - still FAR better than what I've come across at other places. 2) The clubhouse has a BAR! And a nice place, at that! Nice guys work there, and I'd love to hang out there and talk shop with them sometime. 3) A good deal: After 3:00, it's $26 and play all you want! I also love the signs at each tee with a little map of the hole you're about to play. Nice touch. - Word of warning - it's generally quite crowded and play can be slow. Expect over 2 and a half hours to play 9 holes. The guys I played with said morning play is fine - but in the afternoon it can reallllly slow up. - Still - a beautiful course with little road noise. My main gripe was a friggin ice cream truck kept driving around the area for over 2 hours! Drove me NUTS!!!! BUT STILL - a beautiful course. It was challenging and sometimes INSANE (greens hidden behind traps and hills) - but still in great shape and a great area. I recommend it. read more

Golfed here on Sunday 6/27/16 and overall had a great time. Was able to get a tee time for two @ 10:44 AM booked two days before, which was pretty surprising given everywhere else was booked. $69 per person with cart, which isn't cheap but it's also not too steep. Given the pace on the weekend, I might recommend walking if it's not too hot... The course is not incredibly challenging, but it's got a little elevation here and there with one water hazard. The greens were well maintained and the tee boxes were generally in good condition. The rest of the course was a little dry due to the extreme drought we've been having but that helped my ball get a good roll a few times :) It took us three hours to golf nine holes due to slow movement in front of us. We didn't have time to finish the back nine so we went into the clubhouse to ask for a rain check and they were completely cool with that. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The staff in the clubhouse and on the course all have a great attitude and deliver great customer service. I commend them on their service! This course is going to be in my rotation from now on. read more

Played here about 5 weeks ago, 9 holes walking. When my credit card was swiped by the male employee in the clubhouse, I asked for my receipt and was told I did not need it for the starter. So I never got a receipt. Later the next day I looked at my credit card charge and saw I was charged for a cart, which I did not use. I called 3 times and left messages for the golf course manager who I believe was named Austin and never heard back from him. So I was charged an extra $15. When my party and I went down to the starter, we were going to tee off at the whites. Evidently, the starter didn't think women should play from the whites, not knowing our skill at all, and he suggested we play from the gold. We waited at every hole. In summary, I was overcharged, my phone call never returned or my credit card refunded for the $15 overcharge. The entire staff with whom we dealt were rude. No surprise that myself nor anyone in my party will ever play there again. read more

The course is in very poor condition. The fairways have many dirt patches and crab grass everywjere. The tee boxes are totally shredded, and greens are terrible. Will not be going back anytime soon. Their are better options for the same price. read more

Played here couple of weeks ago - yes, mid-Feb! - and the weather was warm and the course was in great shape. For "winter golf" condition, both the greens and fairways were maintained superbly - better than most courses in the area. Only two greens were under repair. Layout not the most challenging but still very interesting. Water, drivable par 4, etc. Then why only 3 stars? Dishonest business practice. We did not appreciate the bait and switch tactic they used for green fees. Advertised $22pp for winter golf on website and confirmed the rate during phone booking then charged $30 when we got there and pretended the lower rate never existed. Price gouging! We paid up cos the weather was nice and a friend drove over an hour to get there. Poor service at clubhouse. The clubhouse was old and the staff was not friendly. Constantly yapping away on the walky-talky while customers waited in line. When you don't value your customers' business then they'll just go somewhere else. read more

I cannot believe how poorly run this course is. We went to pay and the two people at the window were incredibly rude. We are paying you $78 for 18 on a course that realistically shouldn't cost more than $50 at peak hours. The least they could do is be polite. Also, I have played there multiple times and not once has the in cart gps ever worked, what a joke. I promise I will never play again. Lastly, if you want a real course go play at the Peabody Meadows. Awesome staff and 100 times better course than crappy Sagamore. read more

After reading all of the negative reviews from 2016-2018 I wanted to give the course a fair review for 2019. I have never personally experienced any of the "rude" customer service other reviewers have mentioned...so no comment on that. They recently revamped their range and added a putting green (converted the old 9th green and built a new one some 80 yards to the right). Both are excellent for warming up before around or just swinging by to practice. Its a short drive from downtown Boston (25-30 min) and the price is on par with the rest of the market. Greens are rolling fast and true (with the exception of a few dead spots on 7). Fairways are in good shape and rough is well managed, but not overgrown. My one complaint about this place is that they have 8 minute tee time gaps on the weekends and only plays par 70 (6 par 3s)...resulting in long rounds with multiple groups on the closing Par 3s (8 and 9 as well as 17 and 18) Later in the season the volume of play might wear the conditions down a bit...but overall a solid course that would benefit from better spaced tee times. read more

Had a 7:40 tee time. Woke up early and drove 20 minutes to this place for the guy in the pro shop to tell me a frost delay is until 9:30. I totally understand frost delays, but put it on your website or dont have tee times that early!!!! We live in Massachusetts and know there is going to be frost in the fall. So annoying!!!!!! Yesterday I had the total displeasure of playing golf at Sagamore. Not only where the tee boxes and greens in horrible condition it was more expensive than other courses on the area that where in far better condition. The tee boxes had a lot of large dirt patches and appeared to have not been mowed for several days. At some it was difficult to even find a descent patch of grass to tee of off. The greens had barren spots with sand actually coming through. The 6th hole in particular was so bad that it actually had more sand on the green than grass. I had not played here in a few years because of the terrible up keep of the course. I thought it might be better now. But to my dismay it is even worse. If someone wants to have a good golfing experience this not the place to go for $71. read more

He was screaming at us to get in the tee box 15 minutes before our tee time! He was swearing and seething at us because we weren't on the tee ready to hit @ 8:45 when we weren't scheduled until 9! Very nice course. Great condition. Layout leaves a little to be desired. 8,9,17,18 are par threes and kind of tough way to make the turn and finish. Sand needs to be softened up a little. The course is a good driving course if you're accurate. Greens are fast and challenging. The rates for midweek play are very steep though. $57 for 18 holes with a golf cart on a Thursday is steep. I would play here again though. read more

After telling me over the phone they had available tee times, I then called back to book a time. That time was indicative of a four-some; Not a two-some. I then booked a two-some for nine holes and was told "you have to play 18 holes." The short story is, we played 9 holes; The course was a dog track (at best). Never again would I waste my time driving to Lynnfield to play Sagamore when you could play The Meadows in Peabody. read more

Course is mediocre at best. The fact that both nines end with back to back par threes is bad design. The starter did not seem to care what was going on. He looked like he should of been panhandling for change. We teed of 30+ minutes after our booked tee time. It was only 1030 AM. How the course gets that backed up is beyond me. There are no rangers on the course and play is agonizingly slow. All this place cares about is getting your money. $68 for 18 with a cart at this place is just straight robbery. I would not waste the time or money to come play here. Go play the Meadows in Peabody, better course, way better staff and its cheaper! read more

Great short course typically in average to above average condition. The only real problem I have is with the starter. Always gruff, doesn't seem to care about providing any type of service other than to tell you when it's time to tee off. No attempt to exchange pleasantries or evening acknowledge your presence. read more

Had a Sunday morning tee time for a foursome playing 18 with a cart. Our tee time was delayed over 2 hours due to frost conditions. The starter was unpleasant and not very helpful on keeping any of the many golfers waiting proactively informed. I guess the Superintendent was waiting for the sun to get high enough in the sky to begin burning off some of the dew on the greens. I watched many people leave, tired of waiting, and I heard many people cancelling their tee times over the phone. Must have lost a lot of money. Makes no sense to me why Sagamore would not pay a worker a few dollars to get the greens open as soon as possible by whipping them. A 2 hour delay while we wait for the sun to do something a worker could have expedited is not very customer focused or business smart. I have been playing Sagamore for 40+ years and the experience and course conditions have steadily and consistently gone downhill. I used to play over 50 rounds per year there early in the morning and in recent years that has been greatly reduced. These days playing Sagamore is a last resort. There are so many other local courses offering better conditions, a better value and a better overall customer experience. read more

I have golfed at Sagamore for years, Its a nice coure, the staff is great. Probably 70% of the golf I play is at Sagamore. The lats two years, especially this year the rough is WAY too long , The tee boxes , fairways and greens are good . I have hit my ball just off the fairway and could not find it. I golf with different people . some times one of my sons, my grandson , and friends. We have thought about finding another course. I have asked people on the staff I keep getting different answers . I have been told we are waiting for the collage kids to get out of school , I was told it was going to be done,it wasn't, and some other excuses. I would love to hear from some one who makes dissensions. Or we will have to find another place to play read more

I just recently played this course a couple of times. The layout is what it is. A few quirky holes but overall a nice layout. Both times I played there what struck me was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The price is average for public courses in the area. I would definitely recommend this course. read more

went sunday light rain,no problem--paid 65 dollars even though the man behind the desk was on the phone telling somebody they could golf for 45 dollars. strike one--was told there was nobody infront of us all the way arround. got to the 10th hole and there's a group half way down the fairway. talked to the club pro and he said he didn't know where they came from and nobody was sent off the back 9 at all. he goes to talk to them and comes back to tell us to play threw.make a long story short--they we're members of the regular group there--they didn't let us play threw--they confronted us with 4 more of the group when we ended our round in the parking lot--there beer licence should be looked at i think. not the place to be on a rain day or any other day for that matter read more
