I thought the meat pies were going to need ketchup, and I was disappointed when I didn't see any hot sauce- especially in a community where hot sauce is life! I was so wrong! The food was delicious and I didn't even use a drop of ketchup and I did not miss the hot sauce! The guava cake was the perfect texture and flavor, the sausage rolls melted in our mouths, and don't get me started on that yummy thick koko samoa! Omg! If I were rich and were immune to weight gain, I'd eat here constantly. First time. I am a fan of Polynesian food as I played for a Samoan volleyball team way back when I could jump. Ordered for the family. Got one of each meat pie (Chicken, Mince, Steak), and a slices of their cakes. Guava, Strawberry and Tuxedo. Chicken was decent like a chicken pot pie you can hold. Mince was very good, and the steak was the best of the 3. Good crust and nice flavors. I sampled all cakes and they were all solid. I thought the strawberry was the best of them. I will be back, and I plan on trying the meat plates. If you are in Midvale 72nd and state. Stop in. It's very very quick the meat pies are pre-made and reheated. read more

Tried a variety of things: strawberry lamington- moist and delicious, kekepua'a- was expecting a red char siu type filling but it was a savory brown type, good but would like a little more intense flavor, maybe more salt in the bun, also the steamed bun was denser than I'm used to, I loved that they were individually wrapped and hot, sausage roll- delicious & served hot, the sausage itself was enormous, fruit tart- teenagers loved these, custard tart- really yummy thick custard, the bottom crust couldn't be cut with a plastic knife it was so thick, koko Samoa bundt cake- rich and moist with a distinct Koko Samoa flavor (by the way they also sell Koko Samoa cones/ blocks but I haven't tried that yet since I have tons at home), curry pie- out of this world, flaky and perfectly seasoned, pineapple pie- really good, keep in mind that that is a Polynesian dessert as are most of these and they taste like upgraded versions of the recipes we grew up with. They aren't American desserts and so you might be surprised if you are expecting them to taste like something you know. They're unique by well loved by Polynesians. I wish I took a picture of our food from the day we ate there ! After arriving in Utah from Seattle, my kids who have eaten there before suggested we go there to eat. I wasn't really feeling it because we can get poly food in Washington also. Long story short ... so glad we did go here. My kids all got the plate lunch while I opted for the fish & sausage & chips! Oh my heavens .... did the memories of growing up in American Samoa & going over to Samoa for temple trips come rushing back ! The sausage & chips is something I've always loved ! Thank you Sagato Bakery ! Another plus was service was EXCELLENT & it was their birthday week so we all got free slices of cake & that cake was DELICIOUS! Will definitely recommend!! I've been a fan of the Sagato baked goods since the days they sold them at local Polynesian festivals and followed them to every location they have been in, so I'm happy that they finally have their own bakery. My favorites are the breakfast pie with bacon, egg and cheese, the sausage rolls, the potato topped mincemeat pies, the panipopo, the Nutella/strawberry cream buns, and the newest addition to the menu, the strawberry lamingtons. read more

We are so happy we have the reviews from Yelp to help us find places like this! We tried the chicken and steak pot pies and were not disappointed. They had a great clean tasting chicken pot pie, and a savory, hearty steak pie. The chicken was my favorite. My husband said that really his favorite is the one he's eating at that moment, but if he had to choose it would be the steak. I'm always saying that the crust makes the pie, and they definitely have a great crust! The strawberry shortcake tasted pretty good and was perfect to share as well. We LOVE Sagato Bakery! The food is consistently amazing, the staff is sweet and provides great customer service. We don't live too close, but we still go out of our way to get their pastries over places that are closer to us. It's worth it. Easily our favorite restaurant in Utah. My family is from Australia but we've never been able to find the food we love here in the states, until now. The meat pies, fish and chips, and sausage rolls are exactly like what you would get in Aus or NZ. Everyone should go here at least once. read more

My husband is a native New Zealander and was so thrilled to find out there was a place to get pies! He had the potato topped mince and cheese pie and was in heaven. The meat to crust ratio was perfect. I had fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also shared a cream filled doughnut and a koko Samoa cake, delicious! I really like their fish and chips but they need to give up online ordering because they apparently never look at it until you get there. Ordered and paid 45 minutes before I went to pick it up got there and the girl looks at her monitor , walks in the back and tells me they didn't make it and couldn't make it because now they were out of fish. No apology!!! This is not the first time this has happened! A previous time I waited 30 minutes for them to make the fish and then found out they had only made 1/2 the order and sat another 20 minutes for them to make the second plate. ONLY ONCE has my order been ready. Tonight the girl told me they were really busy and that is why they missed my order. Really! The place had 4 people there. We try to support the Polynesian business but these guys have no customer service. When this place opened I was excited to see a Polynesian owned bakery open up, so I had to go by and get a try. its in a strip mall in midvale and in a decent location. the place is simply designed and I like it they have a beautiful hand painted mural up and it really makes it feel authentic. the pastries are fresh and fair priced and I was excited to see the lunch menu they have as well offering meat plates with rice and Mac salad. Best meat pies since New Zealand. I was blown away, their meat pies are awesome. The potato topper one and of course the sausage rolls were both to die for. Went in today and the meat pies are awesome. We got the buy 5 get 1 free. All steak. They also do a house made sausage roll, we got one and wish we had gotten a few more. These guys are Samoan so just like in the islands the desserts are not to sweet. The place looks very nice and clean. We will be back for sure. And the take Venmo, awesome. read more
