It's been a very long second since I've been to this cafe, for some reason I just remember it being a bit better than what it was this last time. I used to get the cilantro lime salad and even recall it being one of my favorite salads, so much so that I took a picture of it back in the day so I could remember what it was so I could get it again etc. this last time I went I got the salad, it was fine but it wasn't remotely as good as I remember it to be. I added asparagus and for some reason it came out to about $25 for the salad which seemed a bit high for what it was. The service is still great, ambiance felt like it was getting a little shaggy, not sure if it's just the years of the building but it had a somewhat almost unkept vibe going on with a couple crooked tables. The Nordstrom Cafe Bistro is such a great, hidden gem within the Nordstrom store at Fashion Place mall. I am unsure if this is how it always functions, but we ordered our food first then were presented with our receipt and could sit anywhere within the restaurant. Of course, we chose one of the tables by the window because it has such a beautiful view of the Wasatch mountains! Upon sitting down, you will be met by a server who will take your receipt from you, then bring you any drinks you ordered up at the counter. The menu is fairly small, but I can tell you that every option is worth the price! We were asked if we wanted to start with the rolls and butter, and of course, I would never say no to that! The butter it was paired with almost reminded me of Boursin cheese; it had some chives mixed in and it had some type of cheese mixed in that made it so delicious! We also indulged in some early afternoon mimosas; I got the Lavender mimosa and my husband got a regular mimosa with orange juice. Always fun to have nice pre-shopping beverage! As far as food goes, my husband ordered the French Dip with the regular Bistro fries and the Kalamata Olive aioli on the side, and I ordered the Roasted Chicken & Goat Cheese Panini with the Truffle Fries and Garlic Aioli on the side. My husband really enjoyed his French Dip, and especially if you are a fun of Kalamata olives, he would highly suggest trying that aioli! As someone who is hit or miss with enjoying Goat Cheese, I can't recommend enough that you try this Roasted Chicken & Goat Cheese Panini. The sandwich had a balsamic glaze on it that paired so well and really brought the flavors all together with the goat cheese and the crisp bite of the arugula. Additionally, the truffle fries were not too overpowering with the truffle and the garlic aioli was perfect seasoned! I have loved Nordstrom Cafe for many years and this Cafe Bistro version is not even close to the same. Not sure why they downgraded the restaurant while still having the same basic menu. I ordered my favorite bistro club, now called the turkey avocado club and was disappointed that they omitted the green beans - arguably the best part of the bistro club. Luckily the fries are the same and the purple aioli they serve with them was still available in all its salty glory. The service was on point! Quickly refilled drinks and anything else we needed. So while you order and pay when you walk in, a fast casual vibe, the servers were on top of it the entire time we were there. Dear Nordstrom, please bring back the Nordstrom Cafe and save us from the stressors of Christmas shopping with those fresh and crisp green beans paired with crispy bacon and perfectly toasted bread. This is the cutest little bistro with an elegant ambience. You honestly would never know it's inside a department store. The setup is a little different here. You order and pay at the counter, then wait while a server brings you your drinks and food. It has all the lovely bits of fine dining without having to wait a long time for your check. Since you've already paid, you can simply leave whenever (unless you need a box for your leftovers). The menu here is quite nice, with lots of options that sound delicious. I've always loved Nordstrom, but the quality and service have really slipped. I ordered one salad and two kids' meals ($60!) --all disappointing. The famous Nordstrom kids' grilled cheese, once a simple classic, was barely toasted on different bread (sourdough) with hardly any cheese. The mac and cheese was thin and watery, more like noodles in broth. I tried calling to speak with a manager -- got disconnected twice, sent to voicemail twice, then sent to online customer support (who obviously couldn't help), then finally reached someone. I came here for the first time for lunch on a Friday. I'd been to Nordstrom ebar before for coffee, but had no idea there are dining options. We arrived shortly after opening and there was a small line that moved pretty quickly. You order before being seated, but it still felt like a more upscale dining experience ambiance. I went with the green goddess salad and added chicken. It includes farro, quinoa, hard cooked egg, organic baby spinach, avocado, pickled red onion, cucumber, turmeric daikon, and herb salad. I loved everything about it, especially the turmeric daikon. The fries were perfect. Very crisp and fresh, well-seasoned and maybe had some lemon on them? Holy smokes. So, I knew that there was a restaurant upstairs at Nordstrom, but I always thought it was too expensive to dine at. A friend of mine who worked at Nordstrom asked if I wanted to try it and I said yes! So glad I did because this place is so classy, yet casual. You order your food at the register. Their menu is super small, and can change every once in awhile. After you order, you choose your seat and a waitress/waiter comes to check in on you. It feels fancy and there's such a great view of the mountains. My go-to is the KID'S menu salmon. Yes, I said it, KID'S MENU! It's filling, and it comes with a drink and side of fruit. Their kid's menu portion is filling and large enough to share around the table. They also give you cute little chocolate sticks at the end of your meal with your check. Dined in this cute cafe yesterday for lunch and we had excellent service by our waitress! She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The only issue we encountered was that most of the menu was unavailable unfortunately. Many of the appetizers we tried to order were out as well as the chefs pizza and decadent chocolate chip cookies. The food we did order was excellent though! The burrata and cauliflower appetizers were phenomenal. The beyond burger was pretty good and the fries with rosemary were amazing! For dessert you have to try the bread pudding and put your order in when your meals come as it takes 10-15 minutes to come out! Upon entering the Hostess acted as if we were bothering her. My friend and I had stopped by for lunch and to have a relaxing time to catch up. The Bistro was bare despite it being prime lunch time. I know you're thinking a café inside Nordstrom is kind of weird. I did the first time a friend suggested it. There just didn't seem to be any way it could actually be good, but I was wrong! I've been here several times, and I feel like I'm always craving it. First off, they have some seriously amazing fries. Shoe string and crispy and they serve it with olive aioli (I know, weird again) that is just fabulous. I usually order the fries along with a salad, and have never been disappointed. I've had nicoise, kale and apple, and the berry and fig salad. All delicious, but one thing to note is that the berry salad has this vanilla dressing and the whole thing is seriously sweet. It works, however it's like dessert, but in salad form! Speaking of dessert it's fabulous here. My friends are always going on about the bread pudding. The menu is fairly small, but I honestly think anything you got here would be good. They also always have a few specials. You order when you first walk in, and then you sit wherever you want and they bring you your food. I've always received it very quickly, and the servers are nice. When you're finished they bring you these little mint chocolate straw things that are fabulous. Sometimes I ask for a few extra, and they are happy to oblige. This isn't the most amazing restaurant ever, but it is BY FAR your best option if you are dining in the mall, and honestly, it's pretty dang delicious compared to most of the other options in the immediate area. The waitstaff made us feel like they were appalled that we ordered drinks at the front but had previously ordered take out from there (which i tipped on). The food is great at Cafe Bistro but Pablo really bumps the service over the top. He always performs top notch service and thinks ahead to what his customers may need without being asked. Very rare in this location and industry. Today my wife had her favorite French dip and I got to try the blackened halibut tacos. Great tacos! Very fresh and the flavors were what you expect from the bistro, awesome. My only regret is not having another taco or two they were so good. So came in one day for the bread pudding and left with a bad service experience and mentioned it here on a previous review. pretty much in summary they told us we can sit anywhere and so we sat in the back and waited 15 minutes before we had to ask the busser if anyone could help us. After the I wrote my review the manager reached out to me and personally asked me to come back for a second chance. the second chance- first off I want to say how much I appreciate the manager for personally apologizing and reaching out to me to make it up. Not a lot of places will do this period. They really take great service seriously and they definitely showed that. The side salad is delicious and dressed simply. French Dip (warm roast beef, sharp white cheddar cheese, toasted parmesan baguette, au jus): while the meat was a bit on the lukewarm side, the hot au jus was able to make up for the 'heat deficiency', and the combo of flavors from the parm baguette, the beef/white cheddar, and au jus was divine. The fries were also tasty. The only tip I have is don't worry about tipping at the beginning of the meal (it's like fast casual where you pay up front), they can run your card at the end of the meal if you wish to tip, or you can tip with cash, if you feel so inclined. We had the that's waitress today. There were probably six tables needed, within five minutes of sitting down they already had our hot tomato soup brought to the table, and drinks just as we ordered them... Most people forget the extra ice but this girl was totally on top of it. The Asian chicken sesame salad is always incredible... Craving a salad? Think Nordstorm Cafe! Actually there's so much more than salads on the cafe's menu, but there are multiple salads to choose from (including chicken, shrimp, salmon and more), and they are all so amazing, why try anything else? The strangest part of Nordstom Cafe, besides the fact that it's situated inside a Department store, is that you order your food before you're seated. To me this is a bit odd because you stand and read a menu, order and pay all before you are given a table it feels backwards. Oh well. The atmosphere is nice, there's both booths and tables. It's also quiet, so you almost forget you're inside a Nordstrom store and it feels like a regular restaurant. My favorite menu item I've tried is the Warm Asian Chicken Salad. I don't normally like warm salads, but this one seems to hit the sot every time. You get a large grilled chicken breast sliced over a bed of spring greens that is tossed in a light Asian dressing. The mandarin oranges are a nice accompaniment. I've ordered this salad to go a few times, and they do a great job of separating the hot chicken from the greens so as not to wilt the salad before you're ready to eat it. It's a nice touch. The star of the show at Nordstom Cafe is the fresh baked crustinis. They ate complimentary and brought to you before your meal, they are warm and covered in cheese - don't be afraid to ask for more, or extras with your to-go order! The only dessert I've tried at Nordstom Cafe is the bread pudding, and it's wonderful! It's a decent size, definitely big enough for 2 people to share. I would definitely order it again. What?! How did I miss this place all these years? I blame you, Yelpers! Just kidding, this was actually a Yelp find - thank you! I had it bookmarked for a while but kept thinking that it was the cafe right outside Nordstrom, which looks small and overpriced so we didn't give it a chance until we casually met the chef a few weeks ago. My husband and I attended one of the Yelp events (Downtown dine o'round kick off event) and were lucky to meet chef Jeremy, who coincidentally was there covering for another chef for a sister restaurant in Nordstrom downtown. He told us about Cafe Bistro a bit more and that prompted us to reconsider and visit. Surprise surprise - Cafe Bistro is INSIDE Nordstrom on the second floor! It seemed very informal and honestly overpriced because it is inside a Nordstrom. We ordered at the door and then seated ourselves in a booth. Service was good, our drinks came promptly and my daughter got her crayon and coloring book which is always welcomed. The restaurant is very open, and we can see the chefs preparing our food. My mouth started to water as I watched them prepare beautiful dishes, and my expectations started to rise. I ordered the shrimp risotto and my husband ordered a special (something with chicken that looked more beautiful than it sounds by my lame description!). One surprise after another in this magical place... my new Disneyland in Salt Lake City! My entree was TO DIE FOR. I haven't been so blown away by food in such a long time! My husband also loved his dinner. It is true when people say that you eat with your eyes first - the dish presentation was beautiful and impecable! Everything was thought-out and precise. Such an amazing dining experience. What was even better than this is that the atmosphere was still casual, we didn't have to overdress, or leave the kids behind to go to a 5 star restaurant, or pay $25+ for an entree - it was right inside a mall! Wow. Just thinking about it makes me want to go there again. We were pretty full, but we just had to (HAD TO) order dessert. We had the white chocolate bread pudding and surprise! it was ah-mazing too. So beautiful and with the perfect amount of sweet and sour (raspberry sauce). I am in love with this place! Prices appear to be Nordstrom high for a restaurant in a mall, but after dining here I think they are actually just right and maybe underpriced! Our entrees were around $15-$18. This restaurant is located on the second floor of Nordstrom at the Fashion Place mall on the East side of the store. It is called Cafe Bistro. The style of this restaurant is fast casual. It is a great spot for grabbing a quick bit to eat whether you are in a hurry or just want to eat better than the food court. The food court has all the normal fast food chains available and this is a good alternative to that style of food. The food is prepared quickly and from what I can tell all the ingredients are fresh. They offer a nice selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta and specialty entrees. The paninis are very tasty. They have a large stone oven they cook the pizzas in. Despite its quite hidden location it can get busy sometimes and you might have to wait. If the wait is not too long you can shop a little more, come back and easily find a table. Kids will feel just fine eating here. They have a menu online. The service was good and they were friendly. You should be able to have a nice lunch or dinner here and do some shopping. read more

Casual (order at the counter) but elegant (white cloth napkins, great service from a waiter, great ambiance). The Mojo Roasted Pork Sandwich with the warm red mole dipping sauce was divine, as were the fries stacked cleverly in a haystack fashion (there's a reason everyone raves about them and the kalamata olive aioli.) Perfectly crispy and seasoned. The omelette my friend ordered looked great and came with fresh fruit, toast. Nicely sized portions. Wonderful service and ambiance. It's not served at every Nordstrom Cafe Bistro in the country so even if it doesn't come with your meal, order a side of these babies, you won't be sorry you did.
