    Guava Cakes by the Slice

I've only been in a couple of times, but that was a few years ago. My friend and I wanted to meet up here for dessert the other week, but unfortunately it closes at 7pm. Although we didn't go last week, I stopped through before going to my dojo for practice this past week. I tried their savory meat pies (steak and cheese) and some guava cake. Everything was yummy! It was the last hour of operation when O got there, so business was a little more quiet, and staff seemed to be ready to head out. It wasn't too loud, since only a few people were in store, including myself. I loved how clean it was, and the gorgeous mural on the wall as well!

10/10 experience here. Awesome staff, delicious food, really chill cafe atmosphere. The fish and chips were literally the best I've had outside of New England or Iceland. The sweets were delicious, as were the pies. The pastry for the pies is light and flaky and the flavors are PERFECT. Don't miss out on coming here

Everything seemed so fresh and delicious!! Nice and clean too. My fav was the guava cake and I never eat it lol It's the best cake I ever had, mind you I'm a red velvet girly hahaha what the heck! We tried all the meat pies and they were all delicious, too hard to choose a fav. If I had to choose maybe butter chicken just because. You can't go wrong with any of the pies. I did try the palusami w/cornbeef, I think I prefer my palusami as is but I still appreciated the uniqueness. Wish they sold palusami here. Koko Samoa Bundt cake & ube cupcake were good. Keke pua'a was good too, so was the portion size. We came as a party of 8 ordered a meat pie and dessert each plus some and left with no leftovers. That was the only sign I needed to know how good this place is. We'll be back to try the fish and chips and to get more guava cake, I think this time we'll just get a whole cake lol I won't fight the feeling. I'll be back. For anyone contemplating this place, go and try them out!!!!! I'm still dreaming of the guava cake oi yah weh!!!!!! Drooooool!

Being that I'm Hawaiian and grew up also eating Samoan and other Polynesian culture foods, I definitely love to try these types of places when I do road trips. My wife found this place from someone else that made a video of it and I knew for sure we had to stop here and try not to spend all our money. The place is very clean and the person behind the counter was very friendly and patient because I was so indecisive because I literally wanted 4 of everything they had lol. I'm never like this but this place had me having a hard time choosing. It's so hard to explain how good everything we got here was because I was in pure food bliss while I ate our goodies. All I know is that as I'm writing this review I can't wait to come back already and probably spend a load of money to bring home stuff as well.

Great tasting Samoan bakery. $7 per pie is a bit expensive but it tasted great! The staff told me the two most authentic Samoan dishes are the pork bun and the Corn beef meat puff pastry. The puff pastry (with corn beef and taro leaves inside) is made well: crispy, but not burnt or too dense or oily. The bun of the pork bun has a unique chewy texture similar to chinese pork bun but have more texture in a good way. The quality of the pork in the pork bun is superb!! I can't attest to the food's authenticity but to a novice it tastes exotic and tasted really good! (Separately I saw numerous Samoans coming in as customers which I guess means the food is authentic!) Glad to expand my palette to try something different. It is a little expensive for me to go everyday, coz I love bargain hunting but would love to go back again!! The staff are friendly. Inside seating are super comfy and the decor is beautiful. This can be a good hangout place for the neighborhood.

Me and my girlfriend came here for a early lunch date, we didn't interact with staff very much but we all were raving about the meat pies. It is a cute and calm environment and if you want to get adventurous and try to

Everytime my family and I are in the SLC, UT (801) area we have to stop by here and get our fix! This is perhaps the closest you'll get to having New Zealand meat pies & sausage rolls. Their service is always top-tier & they serve their food hot, fresh & in timely-fashion! 10 outta 10 everytime! They're meat combo plates, fish & chips, polynesian pastries, & sweets are undefeated as well. So much great variety, you're bound to love something on the menu!

A delicious showcase of their bakery offerings!

Absolutely loved our quick stop at this bakery before catching our flight! The customer service was outstanding. So friendly and helpful even though we were in a rush. The bakery selection was mouthwatering, with so many tempting options to choose from. We ordered the corn beef and palusami pie, and it was seasoned to perfection. The sausage roll was honestly one of the best I've ever tried. It was flaky, flavorful, and just delicious. We also got the steak and cheese meat pie and the curry chicken meat pie. Both were really tasty, though I thought they could use just a tad more seasoning to make them perfect. And I couldn't leave without trying their famous koko Samoa Bundt cake. It was rich moist, and full of unique flavor. The vibe in this bakery was welcoming. We took everything to go so we could make our flight, and I'm happy to say it was still fresh and delicious when we enjoyed it at our gate. Next time we're in Utah, we'll definitely be stopping by again to try the rest of their bakery items, especially more of that delicious koko Samoa cake! Highly recommend for anyone looking for great pastries and warm service. Don't forget to try their drinks . We got to tried their koko Samoa!

My husband brought home guava cake and haupia cake for my birthday. So good! Best guava cake in Utah, I'd say. He said those are their two top sellers, and I get it. Definitely try them if you haven't. Can't wait to go back and try more.

When you're at the laundromat waiting for your bedspread to finish washing, what do you do? Some people scroll social media on their phones, others read a book, but I chose to go in search of a treat. Which is how I found Sagato Bakery nearby. I wasn't sure what to expect, but went inside curiously. I was met with an odd scent-both sweet goodies as well as fish. Strange, but I guess that's to be expected when a place touts themselves as both a bakery and café. I opted not to try the fish and chips, which is what I was smelling, but instead went for the fruit tart. I enjoyed it, although it was a little heavy on the custard. Maybe next time, I'll venture out and try something more savory when I'm back washing laundry again.

My favorite place for fish n chips though the tartar sauce portion was a bit small. The sausages and meat pies are great as well.

I wanted to find a traditional French boulangerie in SLC but did not see one, Zut alors!…read more I know Paris Baguette is a chain and has an Asian twist so we decided to visit on Saturday morning before driving back to Boise. It was early, and it was already busy. TIPs & TRICKs Follow the rules: Get the tray, then the wax paper liner, then use the individual wax papers at the stations to grab what you want. While you're doing that, pay attention to the pricing, because it can add it. To see the plain butter croissants empty already was shocking, but when we told the employee she came back to not only stock it but came to us first and let us pick which ones we wanted off the tray That was very nice The pain du chocolat looked good and were lacking in depth and flakiness of the crunch The Chausson aux Pommes - was really good - They could have used another minute or two in the oven to get that golden brown. They were looking like the pastly white guy at the beach while everyone else had a tan The mochi Dubai Chocolate donut was very good. The total was almost fifty bucks.... I told my wife that we could have about 40 croissants for that price if we were in Paris. C'est la vie! Look for a chain - Its pretty good. I didn't try the coffee but if they ever show up in Boise metro area, I would check them out to see if they match up with SLC.

I think their coffee is decent and they have a lot of options for flavored drinks. It's awesome that you can try a full flight with different flavors, but I'm not sure if the value is fantastic for the price, especially for 4 half sized drinks. I might just order 4 drinks and just bring an extra friend to help me finish them. The shop is clean with a fun design, it has a lot of natural elements with out feeling forced and an awesome mural on the wall. The staff is friendly and fast for sending out orders and happy to help with any questions that you have. They do utilize a kiosk or QR code for ordering, which takes some of the personality out of the transaction, but it goes smoothly over all and gives you extra time to choose. I would defintely come back. Lots of options and a fun environment. Great spot to meet up with friends, have a coffee and something to snack on.
