Newer to the Midtown area as a couple of months ago! I made reservations given that it's new and I wasn't sure how busy it would be, especially with it being a holiday weekend. We made reservations for 1:00 pm but it did seem like we would have been okay if we didn't make them. Menus and water were brought over very quickly. Two members of our party ordered cocktails which did take some time to come out, but they were delicious! Food came out in a great amount time and everything looked amazing! I ordered the burger and subbed the duck fat fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the addition of the fried egg was so good! I liked dipping the burger in the egg yolk. The bun had the restaurant name kind of branded into the bun which was a cool touch! The fries were so good! Kind of crunchy and the garlic aioli was phenomenal! Our waitress Bianca was very attentive and very nice. We asked for a straw for one of the cocktails and she brought it back, holding it with a napkin which I really appreciated! The interior is really pretty and super fun for a girls brunch or a sweet date night. They have front and back patio seating which I would love to try when it's not so hot. Never been to the Tahoe location but was excited to hear about the new Reno location. The space has really transformed into a beautiful restaurant. We ordered the ahi tuna, biscuits, and pork belly. The pork belly was excellent with the flavor of strawberry to complement the richness. Tuna was good with the wonton chips. Wish we were able to order a third biscuit for our party of 3 as only 2 come in an order. For entrees we split the short rib and duck confit spaghetti. Both dishes were rich but flavorful. We also got a side of duck fat fries, delicious! Dessert we got the brûlée cheesecake which was the perfect finish to the meal. Service was a bit slow but overall we had a good dinner. read more

The staff's integrity is questionable--to put it diplomatically--and they're not service-oriented. Whoever owns this establishment needs to completely rethink their front-end staff, except for the blonde, more mature and wise waitress--she's probably the most genuine and sober/stable. I was excited to try this place because it seemed like a great last-minute choice during an impromptu family vacation, but unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by the service. Our waitress (blonde, thin, accent -- possibly Russian) was initially attentive, but once our food arrived, we were essentially abandoned. We ended up ordering espresso martinis through a service assistant and Irish whiskeys directly from the bar because we could no longer locate our server. When I expressed concerns about the level of service, a manager eventually came over to address the complaint. However, the interaction felt extremely unprofessional. He appeared visibly impaired and struggled to even take notes about the issue, asking us for pen and paper before attempting to write on a crumpled children's menu. Afterward, several staff members appeared to be discussing our table while pointing in our direction instead of focusing on guests. When I addressed this directly, I was told that I had "made the manager cry." The entire interaction became unnecessarily confrontational and uncomfortable. As for the food, I ordered the vegan dish and found it under-seasoned with flavors that felt incomplete and unbalanced. One of my girlfriends and I came here on a Friday night for dinner. We did not have reservations and for two people at a table, it was about a 45 min wait. However, we just put our phone numbers down and they were able to text us when the table was ready. I would say this is a great spot if you want to try new foods and unique combinations you have never tried before. The menu for dinner is a little pricey, but it's a great option for date night! We tried their featured limoncello cocktail which we both loved for how warm the weather was. We shared the butter board. Why don't more places have a butter board? Fantastic idea. I ordered the short rib it and it was cooked to perfection. I honestly would come back to this restaurant just to eat this again. My girlfriend got the duck pasta and we were a little disappointed. We recently had dinner here and were excited to try a new spot in Reno. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to book a table just a few hours ahead on a weekend, which was a nice start to the evening. The cocktail I ordered was pre-batched, so the sweetness couldn't really be adjusted without changing the integrity of the drink. That seems to be a growing trend around Reno lately with batched cocktails. House Made Organic Sage & Cheddar Biscuits were absolutely amazing, easily one of the highlights of the meal. Beet & Strawberry Salad was refreshing and light, though the candied walnuts that normally come with it were accidentally left off and had to be brought out separately after we mentioned it. Basil Pesto Conchiglie Pasta was a bit underwhelming. It lacked the bold pesto flavor I were expecting and the balsamic glaze on top was an interesting choice that didn't quite work for us. Citrus Brined Bone-In Niman Ranch Pork Chop, on the other hand, was delicious and full of flavor. The spaetzle paired especially well with the dish. We also ordered the Hand-Cut Duck Fat Fried Steak Fries, which were great with the truffle aioli. That said, a handful of the fries were over-fried or included dark/sprouted potato end pieces that weren't particularly enjoyable to eat. Parking ended up being easy enough, we found a spot just around the corner since there wasn't much available directly by the restaurant. Overall, we would come back for the food. Unfortunately, the service fell short of the experience we were hoping for. Once the entrees were delivered, our server never checked back in. Dessert menus were handed out without any interaction and when the check was returned there wasn't even a simple thank you or have a great evening. Enjoyed trying Sage Leaf after recommendations from a few friends! Did not disappoint at all. 3 out of 4 at our table had the burger, one with the duck confit fries and one had a pecan salad. We went on a Sunday which they offered half off bottle wine that they also have a house Sommelier! Ask for them, he recommended a bottle within our price range that we all would like and it complemented our meal. The entire renovation from Laughing Planet is unrecognizable but ambience is low light, intimate and modern. My first experience here- lovely I walked in at brunch hour with my 3 year old and was a little nervous that it wasn't going to be a kid friendly place (because it's so classy and all the business people were there for lunch)... but they offered a high chair, crayons, and a coloring page. Those little things matter. Nice crayons too not the cheap ones. My friend recommended the vegan hash- it was absolutely delicious!! I'll be back for that because I can't stop thinking about it. Love it when a great restaurant locates to a spot that is walking distance from home. I think the new location on the north end of mid-town is perfect. It is hidden away on Tahoe Street - a little bend in the road between Forest and Virginia. There is parking available with a few designated spots in front of the entrance. Upon entering, we were greeted and shown to a booth. The only down side is it is pretty noisy and it was quite busy on a Thursday night. Being against the wall helped a bit. The service was excellent. Bianca was attentive and checked in on our satisfaction. The bus boy was diligent about filling our water and removing our plates. My husband ordered the Prime NY Steak with fries. I had the Pesto Conchiglie Pasta. Our companions had the Red Wine Braised Bone-in Beef Short Rib (tried a bite it was melt-in your-mouth tender) and The Burger - deemed really good! We ordered desserts to share - Dark Chocolate Marquise Mousse Cake and Brûléed Cheesecake. Definitely worth a return visit. I came back for Brunch on Easter Sunday. Luckily, we arrived before the rush, but when we were leaving there were several parties waiting for a table. They were really busy, but the service did not suffer, everything was great! It was a beautiful morning, so we sat outside on the Patio. It was very nice, but I did miss the Music playing on the background from last time (it's one of the things I loved my first time here). I had the Buttermilk Banana Pancakes. They reminded me of Banana Bread, but very much the texture of perfectly light and fluffy pancakes. The toppings were also yummy, especially the Maple Peanut Butter Syrup. My daughter had the Strawberry Pancakes (not pictured). It was an Easter Special and not on the regular menu, but she absolutely loved them. I had Sage Leaf bookmarked on my Yelp account for about a week, really eager to try out the new location on Tahoe Street after learning about the owner's success in Incline Village. Where the previously operated Laughing Planet was located on Tahoe St, Sage Leaf is an elevated New American restaurant featuring outside patio, table and bar seating. We arrived on Sunday at 11am and while it was busy, we were able to be seated quickly near the entrance from the bar to the patio. We started off with a round of cocktails, the Bloody Mary is garnished with the typical celery stick, and green olive, but also with a lime wedge and a piece of their house made candied thick cut bacon - YUM. I noticed they make a lot of items in house - whether it's the fruit juices for your Mimosas or hot sauces on the table. I had the Bacon Tacos, and my partner had the Biscuits and Gravy. The bacon at this restaurant is amazing, thick cut similar to pork belly and buttery soft. I have never had anything like it. The tacos themselves are bigger than I anticipated, two floor tortillas that they fill up well. I tried a bite from the Biscuits and Gravy - which I am not typically a fan of, however Sage Leaf house made sage & cheddar biscuits were incredibly fluffy and soft, pairing so well with the smoked gouda gravy. My partner was envious of my bacon tacos that he ordered a side of bacon to compensate haha, it is seriously that good! I have a few good and bad things to say about Sage. The atmosphere was very nice, the homemade biscuits for our appetizer were delicious, and the pastrami burger was the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, my chicken sandwich was missing that wow factor and the inside of the bun was burnt. Our brûlée on top of our cheesecake was burnt to a crisp and tasted like charcoal. I was up-charged for my well whiskey in my old fashioned, adding avocado is $4.00, and changing your fries type and cooking oil is an extra $5.00. The bacon tacos are big. You could certainly share this one. A bit chewy to bite through but expected with such a thick cut piece of bacon, they slapped:) The lamb burger was good, not sure if you're able to upgrade the fries to their duck fat steak fries but if so, doooo it! I met my friend for dinner here and we had a lovely time. The renovation of the inside from the prior restaurant was tastefully done. The biscuits were amazing and the jelly that accompanied them was to die for!!! Our entrees were both really good, she got the chicken entree and we both agreed that sometimes that can get overlooked, but she said it was amazing. Back to Sage Leaf to try their dinner menu and it was just as good as brunch! Of course we got the cheddar sage biscuits again and I will get them every visit because they're delicious. For cocktails we had the bubbles and berries and the bees knees-both were wonderful. Dinner was steak bruschetta appetizer (a meal in itself), the short rib dinner and the hamburger. The short ribs were so tender and served with the most delicious sauce. The "Sage Leaf" stamp on the burger bun was so cute and the burger one of the best we've had and I loved the steak bruschetta. The place was full - but there were seats at the bar - we'll take it. Hostess was busy seating others, I asked her if I could just grab two menus and seat ourselves - she was fine with it. And then circled back to point out a few of her favorites on the menu. Nice touch! Mook, the bartender, was super friendly, helpful and informative. He also shared a few (clean) jokes with us for my dad joke collection! We started with a bloody mary and an espresso martini - both were sensational! The we enjoyed the Brisket Hash - really good. The Huevos Rancheros - unconventional and tasty. And the Blueberry French Toast - I would have this every day for breakfast - so good. I love that Reno can have nice things. The restaurant is on the small side and we stopped by on a Saturday around 12:30. That were packed, which I was glad to see. The hostess was very nice and after a few minutes wait, she was able to seat us. There's a beautiful wisteria patio which I will definitely be visiting when the weather warms up. Our server was very prompt and friendly. They kept our water glasses full and the food came out piping hot. We shared an order of duck fat fries, the best I've ever had; crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and oh, so rich, seasoned with Old Bay and served with a creamy, garlicky aioli. I was SO excited to come try the newest restaurant in town. I had searched their menu online and reviewed the food and cocktail offereings prior to visiting and it made me even MORE excited to try the restaurant. They have a popular restaurant in Incline so it was great to be able to try the new location. Well, after my experience....meh. Dont get me wrong the food was good, but it wasnt great and did not meet the expectation that I had. Maybe my expectation was too much? Too big? I dont know but it definitely wasnt met. We sat in the bar area and having perused the cocktail menu online earlier in the day, I had my heart set on the Vieux Carre'. A classic New Orleans cocktail that you dont see too often. So, when the bartender came over to our table to begin orders and I asked for it, she gave me a look like I was speaking Chinese! I was astonished. She asked what it was and I explained that it was on the website's cocktail menu. She explained that they have things on the website that are not accurate for the current menu. STRIKE NUMBER ONE! (This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Restaurant managers please take note...DONT advertise tings on your website if you dont have/serve them!) I asked her if she could make it anyways. She said "no," she "doesnt have the ingredients." I asked her what she didnt have, and she said, "I dont have Benedictine." I pointed up at the top shelf of the bar and said, "I see it right there!" She responded, "oh." Then she said that she "didn't know the ratios." I offered to give her the recipe, which she accepted and went to make the drink. She made it pretty good. Not bad for a first try, but I think the volumes were a little off. We orderd the tuna tartare which was average. A smaller sized portion that came with fried chips for dipping. Diced tuna on a base of avacoado/guacamole and drizled with truffle oil. I asked about the hot pastrami sandwich and she said it gets real good reviews, so I went ahead and ordered it with the Aioli on the side. It comes on a sub bun, looked about the size of a Jimmy Johns sandwich. Nothing fancy, portion was average at best. Plain jane really. And......of course, the aioli was spread all over the bread. I mentioned this to the server and they replied by saying "sorry." Umm, ok? My dining colleague ordered the short ribs. It was a very busy plate when it cam our. Bone-in short ribs over a plate of bleu cheese mashed potatoes and gravy drizzled all over it. She said it was tasty but the potatoes with the bleu cheese were a bit strong and overpowering. Overall, I will probably come back to see if they can be the place that I think they can. But for now my first experieince overall was quite pedestrian. read more

After seeing the positive reviews and feeling a little fomo, my mom and I decided to check them out for a Saturday brunch. I made reservations online and we enjoyed such an amazing brunch today! Everything we had here for dinner was absolutely incredible!!! Four of us shared the shrimp skewers (starter), vegan stir-fry, porkchop, steak, and an order of the duck fat fries. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. We're very excited to get back for brunch or happy hour one of these days. The reason I am only giving 4 stars this time around is due to the long wait time for food/drinks. This ended up being nearly a 2hr meal from start to finish which was fine, but unexpected. It took at least 15 minutes to get waters and order drinks. Another 15 to get drinks and order food, and 45 min later we were still without food and hadn't gotten the opportunity to even order another beverage. Staff was very friendly and I know this place is brand new, so I still have high hopes and this won't deter me from returning. It's where the old Laughing Planet was on Tahoe St. in Midtown. It was FANTASTIC! They did a beautiful remodel (even the bathrooms are beautiful. The food and service was amazing. We sat on the patio because the weather was so beautiful. I had the Carnitas Huevos Rancheros. Probably the best Huevos Rancheros I've had in Reno. I've lived here in Reno for 26 years and if I see Huevos Rancheros on a menu, I have to try them!!! Can't wait to try lunch and dinner there too!!! The menu looks fantastic! A disappointment. First the good: a very attractive space, a menu that sounds great (to me), some excellent cocktails, and very good-looking food. Less good: the execution. One week when I ordered a dish it was oversalted. The next week the same dish was very bland. It was only when I was halfway through that I realized it was bland because they forgot the sauce. The hamburger buns are beautiful looking with their "embossed" logo, but dry and bland, worse than you get at cheaper places. A pasta dish was tasty, but greasy. In general, I felt the food fell short of its aspirations. The servers look very professional, but were not particularly attentive or knowledgeable, and the seaters make guests wait to be seated for no apparent reason (i.e. for an early evening reservation when the entire restaurant is nearly empty). Perhaps the execution will be ironed out. If it is, this is a restaurant I'd be happy to return to. But as it is I don't think I'll be back soon. read more

I hardly ever submit reviews but this Pastrami Sandwich was truly amazing. Best Pastrami that I've ever had and I've been to New York City and Katz Deli! Plus they put it on bakery fresh bread. We came for happy hour and had a great experience. The place has only been open for 3 weeks so those complaining about service, please give them some grace. If you have never worked in the service industry, you will never understand the chaos of opening a restaurant. We ordered the burger and shrimp skewers and duck fat fries. OMG they were delicious. The burger was amazing, juicy, smokey, and it made me use my napkin as any good burger should. The shrimp was plump, juicy, and had a good cajin kick. If you want to talk about the history of the tequilla and top shelf liquors, come find Mark. He is amazing and a good resource if you don't know what you want to drink but can describe what your palette wants. I highly recommend coming here. Delicious and such a good experience! The staff was super accommodating and very friendly. We had a such delicious meal overall. Everything was great. The patio was closed, will have to come back when the weather clears and it opens up, looks super nice! Large bar and a lot of selections. The restaurant set up itself was great! We sat near the bar further away from the main room with bigger dining tables, and it was perfect. I highly recommended checking out this spot! read more

Food was delicious had the Duck Fat fries, they did not disappoint. Also had the Grilled shrimp skewers which were plump, juicy and had a nice Cajun kick. Then split the Niman Ranch burger with my wife. Jucy and delicious, a lot of napkins needed!! The ambiance was laid back and chill, very nice. Service. . .service was great! Got here a little before Happy Hour. Ordered. Top shelf bourbon, reasonably priced and then got to talking with the bartender and got a very informative lesson on Tequila.
