    BLTA WITH FRIES
    Nancy V.

The whole vibe at the J has totally changed from when it was The Sands and this was Mel's Cafe. This is now their "Coffee Shop". It has a bit of the retro feel to it and was a nice place for lunch with a friend. I ordered the BLTA with a side of fries. I just had water to drink but there were multiple offerings from boozy to soft drinks and other non-alcoholic choices. Our server was attentive and checked on us throughout. The meals took awhile to get to us (I think their kitchen probably covers more than just Hanna's Table) but it was worth the wait. My BLTA was just as I liked it - crisp bacon, large slices of tomato, creamy avocado and lettuce leaves. A perfect classic with a touch of hipster add-on. Would I drive out of my way to eat here? Probably not, but since it is about 2 blocks from home it would be worth a return visit,

I frequent Hanna's Table often, and I was so excited to see the new drink menu that I decided to branch out and try something different. I absolutely loved the White Linen -- and that's saying a lot because I'm usually not much of a gin drinker. Tonight I also tried the Blueberry Lemon Drop. I tend to like more of a tart citrus flavor, so it wasn't exactly the tartness I expected at first; however, once I ate the blueberry garnish and took another sip, it completely changed the drink for me and tasted much better. I also tried two of their specials -- the Salmon with Alfredo sauce and the Tenderloin sliders. Again, Alfredo normally isn't my thing, but the Salmon was cooked beautifully and the sauce was very enjoyable, especially since they accommodated my request for a lighter amount. Since I couldn't decide between dishes, I ordered the tenderloin sliders to-go as well... and they were delicious too! Our server Miguel was new and did a really good job. You could tell he was just a little nervous, but he was attentive, kind, and handled himself well. Everyone starts somewhere, and I wanted him to know he's doing a great job and will only continue getting better with experience. Another solid visit overall. It was also nice seeing GM Drew working the restaurant floor as usual. You can absolutely see his management style reflected in the atmosphere and service -- the restaurant was busy, yet the team handled everything smoothly. And of course, Chef continues making consistently delicious meals. Definitely looking forward to coming back again soon!

My mom husband and I walked here from our hotel in search of a decently priced breakfast spot. Hanna's Table was very cutely decorated with a nice friendly feel to it. The service was good nothing special, and the food was pretty good. I ordered a protein power bowl, my mom ordered chicken and waffles, and husband ordered a fried rice kimichi with egg.

Grabbed lunch with friends. Easy to get a table for lunch for four of us. Full bar and nice wine list. Some craft beers are available. Portions large enough for some of us to get leftovers. Just off the casino floor which allows smoking. You can't smell it towards the back of the room.

Best Monte Cristo sandwich in Reno! If you haven't had one it's a must try! Weird and delicious! Everything else is good here! Don't know why this place isn't packed?

I procrastinated reviewing this restaurant because I don't like leaving negative reviews but here goes. Pros: the restaurant is spacious and easily accommodate large parties. The menu has a variety of dishes and it was really delicious and well-prepared. The bus-persons and food runners were great: friendly and attentive. Cons: the cashier, our waitress and the manager lack initiative. Our server disappeared at the end of the meal; meanwhile, we had a starring contest with the cashier who I guess couldn't leave her station to drop off the check or ring us up, so we had to walk-up to the hostess to ask for the check, to which we were directed to the manager who then dropped off a copy of the receipt after about 20 minutes but didn't bother ringing it up. Instead, she strolled out to the casino floor with another woman and had a long, languid conversation. After about an hour, we flagged her back down and told her we were ready to pay the bill, she then directed us to the bar where the cashier was. So in summary: food was good, some of the service was good but overall service could use some improvement.

    My fave salmon-farro plate!

This is the diner at the J Casino where Mel's used to be. I have learned to prepare for a little wait so plan on about 15-30 before your food comes. Freshly made food, not fast food. My fave is the crispy topped salmon, cheesy farro, blistered tomatoes and asparagus one can eat to the stem meal. I love it. They have a featured lasagna special that came with a lot of meat sauce within the noodle layers. The cheesy bread sticks that came with it tasted freshly baked and was quite addicting. Kudos for the outstanding bread sticks! Friendly service and hostess. They have a bar area to eat at, too. They are on Open Table.

Tried this for the first time. Did not disappoint. We came in after 4. Was not too busy. Out waitress was very helpful in our choices. I really enjoyed a dining experience where you could have a decent conversation without yelling. Very relaxing vibe. The food was an easy 8 out of 10. The dessert was a 10 out of 10 Will be back to try breakfast next time.

The steak and eggs were good. Our server Cloey was helpful and friendly. The place is clean and spacious with plenty of parking outside.

Recently had a mini staycation at the J and was not disappointed. The service was great at the restaurant, which was very clean and comfortable. The food came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. The eggs benedict weren't the best I've had, but not the worst either. The sauce was a little thick in my opinion, but had decent flavor. The sweet roll was absolutely incredible! The chicken and waffles also had great flavor. My mimosa was a little heavy on the orange juice, but again-not the worst I've ever had. All in all, I would eat here again.

    Monte Cristo Sandwich

This diner is easy to get to from parking. Located right in front, so no need to walk through the Casino portion of the J Resort. Server was attentive. I was excited they have a Monte Cristo on the menu. Sweet, fried, with Swiss cheese, turkey and ham. Don't come across it very much. It met my expectations. Half was enough, so had leftovers. Compared to the one on Cafe Milano (Peppermill) menu, the sandwich is a toss up. Hannah's table had a blueberry based jam for dipping that I liked better (tasted like it was made in house verses others). But I like the presentation of the sandwich at Cafe Milano more. My friends ordered different omelettes and had no complaints. As a local, you get 25% off the bill, so very affordable.

The wife and I decided to try this place for breakfast. The hostess was friendly and our waitress was awesome! The food came out really fast and was really good! Cool laid back place also has outdoor seating if you want to go outside.

Until this 4th of July weekend (250/2026) we had never heard of Archie's. It was recommended to us and we stopped in on Sunday the 5th for lunch on our way out of town. What an amazing choice. I ordered their bacon cheese burger. Guess what? It was GIANT. It was delicious. It was perfect. Comes with fries but I got onion rings. The onion rings were perfect too. Largest order of rings I have ever seen. The burger (1/2 Lb I think!!) had nice thick bacon in every bite, two large and fresh slices of tomato, a big old slab of an onion slice, mayo and lettuce. I can't remember if there were pickles. It was the best burger and onion rings I have eaten in at least ten years, maybe 20. We will be back, EVERY time we are in town from now on. I can't recommend this place enough. Special shout out to David, our server. This guy made no mistakes. Laughed at all my stupid dad jokes, was attentive, patient while my companions changed their minds 36 times, and was friendly too. Was surprised it had a second floor with a small deck and pretty decent views! Big place. Great Happy Hour Deals (half off drinks) and other specials. I haven't eaten breakfast there but the burger I'd put in the top 4 in Reno. It is giant diameter wise but the meat is the same amount of a smaller thicker burger which makes it no too hard to eat. I'd call this a Purist's Burger. Crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, sauce. They went really light on the sauce to the point I didn't think it had any. Fries were excellent too. Price is very reasonable (that's typical near a college.) I've tried Royce, Juicy's, and The Parlor. I'd put Archies below Royce and Parlor but above Juicy's. Two left on my list are Armando & Son's Butcher Shop and of course Beefy's.

She barely let me speak, she interrupted, wasn't answering my actual question about what kind of toaster they used and what grill the bread is heated on, etc because she wanted to repeat the existence of cross contact. Good lord. I was one second away from walking out. She was a really piece of work. She then upped the "nice" factor to call me sweetie the rest of the meal which makes me want to crawl out of my skin. Honestly, I am very flexible, I think this place may be better than my first impression but this server needs to be retrained to LISTEN to the customer and answer questions and not just make it an effort to drive people out. This is a few minutes of her time, and I have to live my entire life like this without treatment until I die, so a little kindness and active listening is really a minimal effort for a few minutes every now and then. 3 stars is generous. Food was ok. Restaurant was clean, but the servers need to learn to interact with humans better with more kindness and better listening skills.

Very well cooked, perfectly tender, and the Calabrian chili oil was perfect for adding some spice. We then ordered entrees, which included the duck duo and a Caesar salad. The Caesar is nothing to write home about. It's fresh and from scratch, but it's just a Caesar. The duck duo came with both duck confit and duck breast. The duck confit was unreal. So tender and so flavorful. The duck breast was a bit tough for my liking, but I really enjoyed the sauce they used on the dish. Most of all, I was shocked by how good the dessert was. We ordered the cast-iron chocolate cake, and it was unbelievable. The sauce that bubbles away in the hot cast iron was spooned onto the rich cake and topped with vanilla ice cream. Nothing better!
