Mother's Day Dining Experience ​To the Management Team, ​I am writing to share my recent experience at your establishment this past Mother's Day. As a long-time fan of your restaurant, this was one of my favorite places to dine; however, my experience during this visit was deeply disappointing due to a lack of communication and poor service standards. ​My primary concerns are as follows: ​Limited Menu Communication: Upon arriving, I was disappointed to find a restricted holiday menu that did not include the dishes I had specifically come for. While I understand the need for a limited menu on busy holidays, this should have been communicated to guests waiting outside. Waiting an hour to be seated only to realize the items I craved were unavailable was a significant letdown. ​Inattentive Service: Despite the restaurant not appearing to be at full capacity, the service was lacking. My father's meal arrived significantly later than the rest of the table's, and basic needs--such as coffee refills for my mother and water for the table--were never addressed. No one checked in to see if we were satisfied with our meal at any point. ​Gratuity Policy: Regarding the 18% gratuity for parties of six or more, I completely respect the policy in principle. However, when the service does not meet basic expectations, being told I must pay a specific dollar amount--in this case, $40--feels intrusive. I am someone who genuinely enjoys leaving generous tips in cash to reward good service; being forced to pay a set amount for a subpar experience felt less like a gratuity and more like an unjustified surcharge. ​I believe your establishment is capable of much better. I hope you take this feedback into account to ensure future holiday guests receive the transparency and quality of service that originally made me a loyal customer. read more

This is a very cute restaurant for breakfast/brunch! We came to try it on a Wednesday lunch. We ordered steak and eggs, the steak was not good, very rough. I wish they charge more but give a better quality steak. But the way they flavored the steak was very good!! Then we ordered the smoked salmon benny, very delicious! Loved everything about this dish! I would come back for this! We also ordered their signature dessert, Dutch baby, it tasted exactly like bread pudding. It was good but not what I imagined how it would taste. Let me start with the coffee and hazelnut latte, amazing. We were seated quickly, which was nice, but then it took about 10-15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Servers kept walking past our table without checking in and honestly looked kind of lost or wandering around aimlessly. Luckily they keep water pitchers on the tables already filled, which now makes perfect sense considering how long it takes to get service. Smart move on their part. I ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon, and my husband ordered the chorizo skillet. The coffees and my food came out quickly, but his never did. Instead, we watched an older server walk around the restaurant with his skillet and bacon, stopping at multiple tables asking if it belonged to them. Twice she set it down at other tables before being told it wasn't theirs. The third time, she finally brought it to us. That seems like it should be a health issue, what if someone else had stuck their fingers in it not knowing. By then, my husband didn't even want it anymore because it had already been sitting in front of other people. To their credit, they remade it, but then we waited another 15 minutes for his food while I had already finished eating. We actually watched another couple sitting next to us get so frustrated because their order was completely forgotten. After waiting forever with no food and barely any acknowledgment, they eventually just got up and left. I recently visited Sage for the first time and was really looking forward to trying it. The space itself is very cute and has a nice, welcoming vibe, which made me excited to dine there. Unfortunately, my experience with the food didn't quite match that first impression. I ordered the steak and eggs (medium rare, over-easy eggs, and fruit instead of potatoes). When my plate arrived, the food was cold, and the fruit was placed right next to the steak. Because the steak was medium rare, the juices--along with some of the blood--ended up soaking into the fruit, which made it very unappetizing. I sent the plate back to be warmed up, but when it returned, the eggs were fully cooked instead of over easy, and the steak was closer to medium-well. The steak itself also lacked seasoning, and there wasn't any salt available on the table to adjust it. I understand that off days can happen, and maybe this was just one of them, but I was definitely disappointed since I had been looking forward to the experience. I would suggest separating fruit from hot proteins--especially when serving steaks that are rare or medium rare, where the juices and blood can easily soak into the fruit. My family and I of 8 came on Saturday at 11AM. Although it was a bit of a wait (perhaps around 30-40 minutes), the food made it worth it. It was my first time having chilaquiles and it was so good 10/10 I would order it again. I also got a brown sugar latte and that was very delicious as well with the right amount of sweetness for me. I also got their cookie butter French toast which was good but too sweet for me I couldn't eat much but it's great for those who have a sweet tooth. The servers were sweet and very quick. 5 stars for the service, we got to sit down quickly at prime time Saturday morning and good generous size of coffee. I've been here multiple times. Disappointed at this time when my boy ordered Egg and Steak, the steak wasn't fresh but also smelly. I just didn't want to deal with it, we didn't complain. FYI, I don't recommend the steak here. Pulled pork egg Benedict is good, it's been our favorites. Ice coffee is more watery down (don't recommend) but the latte is the BEST. The ambiance is too compact for the capacity. The food here was delicious! I ordered a simple breakfast plate with a side of pancakes and orange juice. Even though it was a basic order it was super filling. The orange juice tasted fresh, everything was well-seasoned, and the pancakes were especially good. Service was overall good. I wasn't checked on as often as some of the larger tables, but since I was dining alone and it was a busy morning, I completely understand. The wait time was a bit longer than I expected, but again, it was pretty packed so I'm taking that into consideration. Prices felt fair for the quality and portions, which I definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd recommend this place! I'll be coming back with my boyfriend next time and trying it again. Curious to see how my next experience compares to the first. read more

So consistently delicious! The food menu is something I would experiment on trying a new item every chance I got. The decor is always gorgeous and the music vibes is so relaxing. Service was a tad difficult which can be understandable because theyre constantly busy. But still they did bring our food out very quickly and we were seated right away with our choice of seating. I LOVE THE NEW LOOK! This place made it very special with the actual sage color all around. Brought peace and a sense of enjoyment while eating delicious food. This time around I got to try the pistachio latte ( iced ) I didn't leave a drop behind ! It was delicious. The main dish I get there is the Mediterranean hummus toast , comes with a beat salad . Sage serves such yummy breakfast and food in general! I normally don't like chorizo but it tasted so good in this breakfast burrito. That green sauce they have is to die for!! Also I think they make their tortilla chips fresh in house, it tastes so fresh and tasty. The pulled pork benedict is so flavorful. The pork is very tender and juicy. The potatoes are also so well cooked. We didn't order any drinks but when I looked over at other tables, the cups and mugs looked huge! Will probably try some next time. IF YOU ARE PRESENT DURING THE TOW OR THE HOOK UP OF YOUR VEHICLE AND YOU DEMAND TO PAY THE DROP FEE. THEY NEED TO COMPLY TO CALIFORNIA LAW. I will be sending a demand letter to that tow company since I was present and asked to pay the driver and he refused and still continued with the tow. I should've opened my car and called the police. Met up with my sister here since it was close to her. We both had never been here in the past or heard of this place. When I arrived there was no parking and tons of signs everywhere in this lot and the neighboring lot, stating no parking for Sage Social. Read the reviews again and saw that everyone usually parks on the street. We parked on the street and walked down to the entrance. Parking was a hassle and it sucks because the business next door has tons of parking and no customers. Once inside it's small but cute. I could tell they were going for a garden vibe with the artificial plants hanging from the ceiling. I had the orange juice and the chilaquiles. Both were very good and tasty. Service was fine, but towards the end they forgot about us and didn't refill our waters. Overall it was a cute experience, but the parking is not ideal here and would deter me from visiting unless I found parking in the first 7 minutes. read more

I came here for lunch last week. I was in a meeting in Irwindale and realized I was only 8 minutes away. I've had this place bookmarked on Yelp for a while so decided to pop in before heading home. I arrived around 12:30pm. Originally I thought there were plenty of parking, but when I pulled up I started noticing all the signage and how they're only reserved for certain businesses. Well with that, I left circled around and came back. Then I ended up at the business next door and also noticed the signs, but finally found a spot. I should have read the reviews about the parking situation first as some people mentioned they've gotten or witnessed people getting towed. That's already a giant negative. When I entered the restaurant, I noticed the interior decor which was really nice. It wasn't very busy and about 3 tables sat. I waited a while at the front before someone mentioned I could sit anywhere I wanted. I'm guessing they may have been short staffed as I waited 10+ minutes before someone took my order. I ordered a hot vanilla latte, a side salad, and their Dutch Baby (Dutch pancake). My latte came out pretty fast as did my salad, which was delicious. On the menu, it tells you to allow 15 minutes for preparation. The pitcher of water also had fruit inside which was nice. The Dutch Baby was just okay and I don't think I would order it again. The service improved from there. My total with tip came out to $35.75. Would I return? If I was in the area and there was parking then yes, I would love to try some other items. Walking in, there were a few open tables and it took a few minutes for the girl at the front to seat us. We sat down and it took quite a bit to even get menus, so my friend got up and got menus for us. This was my second visit to Sage and it was just as crowded but just as good! The lot is tiny but therr us plenty of free street parking around. The inside is always crowded so I've always sat on the patio. Our server was nice enough to rush us to get our order in before a large party that was there. Went out with a friend for Brunch Easter Sunday and what a wonderful surprise this place was. Very nice and quaint restaurant. Family owned and run. Every staff member we interracted with were very nice and you could feel they appreciated our business. This place scores a 9/10 in my book when it came to customer service. They have it down. They have an outside patio but we enjoyed the ambiance inside. Music they had playing was a perfect volume. The food was delish! Ordered: latte ...big cup! Nutella crepes..yum! Trio Avocado Toast..the favorite!. Chilaquilles with 2 overeasy eggs and potatoes. Spinach Florentine Eggs Benedict. For both these dishes, the eggs were sadly overcooked. We didn't find much spinach in the benedict and initially thought they.served us someone else's order. The english muffin was quite soggy but overall it still tasted good. Potatoes on both dishes was the bomb. I could just have a whole plate of those and be happy! Only downside was the parking. Tough as many spots were assigned to other businesses in that lot. Came for brunch at SAGE Social Eatery on a Sunday late morning around 11:30am. No wait to dine in outdoors, though the picnic style chairs do not have backings outside if you need that. Chilaquiles ($14.25) + pulled pork ($3): Tortilla chips with sauce, sour cream, pulled pork, thinly sliced red onions and chopped tomatoes. I would have preferred pico as mentioned on the menu but it appears it perhaps was not available hence the onions and tomatoes on the side. Served alongside rosemary potatoes. The potatoes were unique with bits of kale intertwined - something different and was quite delicious. Dutch Baby ($16): Dutch pancake served with whipped cream and fresh fruit. The dutch baby comes out in a little cast iron skillet and takes 15 minutes to prepare. Though this was a signature item, we were disappointed as the pancake was a bit burnt throughout the top and the top half was completely dry. The Dutch Baby is fairly small but between 5 of us, we only ate half. Texture was more bread pudding like than a pancake. Small parking lot shared with 7-11 and a laundromat that has their own reserved spots. Street parking available otherwise. read more
