A couple of counters and seats are looking a little run down but really only adds to the charm. The place has been here since like 1965 - what do you want! But Kathy greeted me as I walked in and was very helpful in her service! What was super cool was how many locals walked in while I was there - and Kathy knew each and every one of them, and what they usually ordered. I was the odd ball but I was made to feel right at home. The food was classic. Homemade, hometown style food. I believe I had a veggie omelette of some sort - sorry, I meant to write this review right after but I'm doing it a week later - which I had the option of toast, biscuit or a pancake on the side. The pastrami sandwich was just okay, and I personally wouldn't get it again. However, the turkey melt is really good. The turkey is freshly sliced, and both the onion rings and sweet potato fries were solid. I've also tried their breakfast on a previous visit. I ordered the spicy omelette with home fries, along with biscuits and gravy. The staff are friendly, and the food is consistent. Plenty of parking is available on street, or in a city lot, but there are several restaurants/bars and other businesses in the immediate area. I met a girlfriend for breakfast here last week. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. I prefer when they use real corned beef rather than canned corned beef. Before I placed my order, I asked the server what they use. She told me that they use canned corned beef, but she said that everyone loves it and she was sure I would too. I went ahead and ordered it. I chose Homefries and a Biscuit with Gravy. Unfortunately, I just didn't care for the corned beef hash and would never order it again. I've been here several times. The service is good. For several years I have been trying there regular breakfasts, you know, pancakes, eggs, bacon sausages, biscuits gravy, even their salads and burgers. This is a place for locals. Recently, a good source mentioned that their menudo with pata was the best he had locally and in a while. He said it was not greasy like many other local spots. In my recent visit, I tried their menudo and even though my source praised it, I was completely disappointed. Yes, the menudo was not greasy, but it was also not flavorful, the pata was not cooked to the point where it is easy to eat, meaning the tendons and meat fall off the bone or easy to remove. It is a bit difficult for me to write this review because my family normally love this place. Unfortunately, today service was horrible and actually ruined our day. Today was the last day before my kids start school and my wife does not get extended lunch breaks during the week. We went in today expecting to have a nice brunch together as a family. However, not enough time to wait for an entire dish to be made while another is getting cold and soggy while waiting. My wife was pretty bummed out and asked us to request for her food to be placed to-go so she can make it back to work on time. She is now eating her chicken and waffles by herself in front of a work desk. Horrible experience. I have a family of 5 and we usually eat her about once a month. The Country Fried Steak & Scrambled Eggs is cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the home potatoes and pancake tasted mediocre. The Country Fried Steak's creamy, peppery gravy is thick and savory. The Country Fried Steak's center is soft, hot, and tender. And the Country Fried Steak's crust is crisp and comforting. Phenomenal!! The Scrambled Eggs are generous and filling. Each bite felt hearty, and the Scrambled Eggs tasted velvety, hot, and buttery. As mentioned prior, the Home Potatoes and Pancake are forgettable. The Home Potatoes were not crisp; rather, these potatoes tasted mushy and squishy. Its outer layer tasted dry. It tasted like leftover potatoes that sat around for too long. Concerning the pancake, its batter tasted slightly bitter. I needed to slather it with butter and syrup to mask the large pancake's off-putting taste. The entire meal arrived quickly. I waited seven minutes and 35 seconds. Regarding service, I enjoyed the efficiency. One main hostess is assigned by the door. She directs you to a seat. Later, another staff member takes your order. Eventually, the staff leaves your paper bill on your table; customers are expected to bring the paper bill to the hostess at the door to pay. Although the food runners don't really check-in on the customer, I felt the hostess' bright and welcoming personality made up for it. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Georgia's Original (Covina). The ambiance is charming and clean. The food is hot, filling, and satisfying. Despite the mediocre potatoes and pancake, I sincerely enjoyed my Country Fried Steak and eggs. Do NOT sleep on this place! Their Chili Verde Omelette was so yum- hit the spot. I got corn tortilla with it and it had a little spunk where my mouth is still tingly. I 100% will come back. The hostess and waitress were both very pleasant and I noticed other waitress smiled at customers as the passed. The hostess seemed to know many of the patrons by name. The hostess, Lisa, greeted us as we walked through the door, offering a table immediately, but we chose the counter. The servers stayed busy with plenty of customers although nearly packed we never saw anyone have to wait at the door since Lisa had them seated nearly instantly. This was my first time at this location Thursday July 9th 2026 we arrived at 9:00 am we were seated by a party of 5 they were extremely loud and obnoxious drinking alcohol. We could hear there conversations about women and there sexual encounters the group was in there late 50's .
