It's like stepping back to the 70's knowing you're going to have one wild of a time.... We stopped in for a quick wander after the pier. Location is amazing as it's literally right across the street from the fame Malibu pier on PCH. Right when you walk in, depending on which entrance. The whole vibe was amazing and it's a VIBE. The cool kids crew... You're greeted right straight to the bar area which obviously cocktails and they have food. We didn't have neither as it was just a quick walk through to see what this place was all about. It's an open feel but broken down to different sections. Start with the main bar area, there's the stage area, different sitting area, a back lounge room as well as the open air back patio. Not only that, there's the retail area with loads of things to choose from. The retail staff were all amazing and very friendly. Not sure what the schedule is like for the stage area. I've always driven by this place and glanced at it from the other side of the road but never stepped in until my family came to visit, and boy was I missing out. When we first walked in we didn't quite know if we were in the right place because all do the seats are couch style lounge seating, which is very unique and I loved it. NOW, MY FACTUAL EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN REMOVED TWICE BY THIS SHADY OUTFIT, YELP, WITH THE INCREDIBLE AUDACITY TO DECLARE THAT MY EXPERIENCE DIDN'T HAPPEN! I played my songs for the crowds on Thursday nights on open mic night, once a month, for about half a year, to a cheering audience. Always, every month, we were asked not to take a long time setting up. It dawned on me to ask the man in charge if it would be a good idea to put my guitar amplifier up on the stage to save time. He happily granted permission. As I did, one of the two sound men, roughly 18 years old, came up to me and acted out of sorts, and I didn't understand why, so I explained I was just trying to do my part to help. After waiting all night, I was called to the stage, only to find that part of my equipment that the sound guy had seen me hide behind my amp was gone. I played the first song without the special effects I brought, which were stolen. For my next and last number, I put on my $3,000 Rickenbacker guitar and discovered someone had pulled the strings out of their grooves and detuned it. My entire show was essentially ruined. I take care of a disabled woman around the clock all month, and this show was my only entertainment. I looked forward to the whole month. I have a friend in the music industry who has worked with the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, among countless others, and recently told me I was yet his favorite songwriter. The audience agreed. Even the extremely rude barmaid completely changed after my show, smiling and telling me I understand music. How nice it was to perform. After my show, the soundman came up, and I told him what had happened. It seemed to me showed me anger for bringing the amp up there. I got down from the stage and acted just a slight bit miffed, then it seemed to me, the second soundman told me off too! My reaction didn't come anywhere near the nastiness of those two soundmen. I was not happy, and was yet polite, and my voice was low, and showed mild disturbance, while it seemed to me they were malicious and rotten. It was in the face of this that I showed any displeasure at all. I mentioned to both of them that the MC will be looking at the closed-circuit video to see exactly what happened; that it looked to me like they had done it, as no one the whole night went next to my equipment. I was banned from ever coming back to play for not liking my equipment being stolen, and my incredibly expensive guitar being vandalized. My impression from this first experience with the staff at Aviator Nation Dreamland is that they are unsound working together. It seems to me that the staff used mischief and said there was nothing on the video. That, of course, is impossible. I searched every inch of the stage for my equipment, but there was nothing. Staff later said the soundmen found it on the stage. It seems to me that no more evidence is needed that the sound men were the perps, and a boss is covering for them. Pretty obvious to me. A company is no more moral than its owner. I don't know how involved that owner is. It seems to me that this is a purely criminal act of juvenile delinquents of all ages upon a supportive, well-meaning person. Wow. It seems to me they basically are more important than God to themselves. I wrote a heartfelt letter to the staff and the two soundmen, pretending to be wrong and have cooler heads, and was told just now that my kind letters of reconciliation were a horrible experience for the entire staff. It seems to me these are not at all nice people. I would advise not going there. It seems to me that it makes you feel dirty being there once you know who is operating the venue. It's hard to make a music venue feel different but this place really got it right. A surfwear shop, a restaurant, a bar, a music venue and a view of the Pacific Ocean? Yep. I had the pleasure of catching a Slenderbodies show and the cool 70s aesthetic was a perfect backdrop for the sultry sexy music that Slenderbodies makes. The venue is open but small, which makes for an Uber intimate setting that feels more like hanging out at a cool house party. Everyone in attendance and the staff was super chill which also made for a great concert experience. The food was also delicious which honestly wasn't something I was expecting from a clothing store/bar/music venue; needless to say, I was thoroughly pleased. We showed up when the doors opened and that made it really easy to grab one of the cool lounging sofas nearby while we waited for the show to start, once the show did start we made our way up to the stage area that offered plenty of great viewing. There's a DJ before the set which again makes waiting a lot more fun than your standard concert venue. I hope to catch another great show at Dreamland, highly recommend. read more

A friend invited me to hear a band he followed. 10 stars for the sound engineer...loud enough to sound like a concert but not to loud you couldn't hear the person next to you. We had a reserved space and our service visited form time to time at about the right intervals. After drinks and almost 2 hours of awesome music, it was time for something to eat. I've driven by the spot on PCH several times... I always wondered what it was cause it's got like this really cool groovy 70s/80s style logo and I was like that looks cool right... Well, I finally got the opportunity to check it out when we were visiting Malibu pier we were supposed to go to Adamson house tour, but it was so far away and dreamland was right across the street and we wanted a cocktail so we went across the street and dreamland does not disappoint. It is the epitome of cool everything I like about music is inside of there. Everything I like about just coolness is inside of there. I heart dreamland Service was amazing. They made us great cocktails I liked my husband's better than mine, but mine wasn't bad. He had a pineapple passionfruit spicy like margarita thing. It was so good and I have like this violet drink, which was delicious. And even more of a success and highlight that we don't have to venture too far from home to visit but we still have these wonderful activities in our backyard. Saw Ozomatli here tonight. Was a fantastic show, but the venue is super cozy and intimate for a performance. We splurged and got a couch on the left of the stage. Gave us plenty of space and a super close view of the band. 5 feet away from the bass player. 10-15 from the singers. Waitstaff are friendly and helpful through the evening. Planning a little better would have let us park across the street instead of valet, but post concert the valet line wasn't too terrible. I have attended various events here as well and they always exceed my expectations. The vibe here is so vintage, California, retro, trippy and I just some comfortable. Feels like you have entered a time machine and you are back in the 1970s or 1960s. It is such a unique venue that you just have to experience for yourself! I have visited at all times throughout the day. The colorful glass windows and the décor provide you with a vibe/day that just cannot be beat! The staff is always amazing, chill and always ready to help provide you with the best day ever. All ages should feel comfortable attending an event or visiting this spot. The store is attached to the venue where the bar/food and live music happens. The music has always been great and I have danced many nights away at this spot! What is great about right now, with the current devastation that has hit Malibu from the wildfires is that you can take the 131 bus from Santa Monica and it will drop you off right at Aviator Nation and it is only a 25 minute ride which helps you avoid the 50 minute detour if you are coming from LA. Please visit! Also the bus is free right now so there is no reason to hesitate. This place attracts a great crowd young and old and the people are always super beautiful, kind and genuine. I have yet to meet one person who wasn't approachable and friendly. I was lucky enough to go to the Fire Benefit Concert that happened a few weeks ago and the lineup of DJs was so great we had sooo much fun dancing. Special shoutout to Diplo of course and Sidepiece as well as Aluna and Poolside who all contributed in making the event incredibly enjoyable and memorable for everyone who attended. Decided to swing by while driving through the area. The vibe here is so chill, Natalie helped us out and was so friendly and she had incredible energy!!! Chef Satchel has an incredible vision of flavor. The breakfast burrito is one of the best I have ever had. Apparently the tortillas are made in house. The salsa verde was delightful! My friend said the grilled cheese and tomato bisque was like comfort food, but better. My wife said the carne asada tacos were yummy and refreshing. Aviator Nation's Dreamland in the super cool beach town of Malibu is like stepping into a time machine to the funky 70s. It's like Elvis Presley and Liberace had a wild party here! The Dreamland crew is nice, but the Aviator Nation clothing store employees are kinda lost in the groovy vibes of the place. The real star here is the mind-blowing lineup of concerts happening every month... for a small fee. It's like a rock 'n' roll explosion! And let's not forget the totally cute guys and girls strutting around like they just stepped out of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog. They really know how to rock that "brand" thing! But the most epic thing about Dreamland is how it can somehow feel like your very own beach house, just a hop and a skip away from the crashing waves nearby. Just get a cocktail or food from Avaitor Nation and then walk over to take a look at the Malibu Pier for a few minutes. It's a great combo of activities.
