Wow is this place is good. No one knows it's tucked in behind the redmond way QFC, but I think they will eventually. I love the intimate feel of the place. It's a favorite date spot for me and my wife. Also, when you go try the oft overlooked soup... that's what hooked us the first time. Additionally, get some desert and anything in paillard form. Presentation is nice and the waitstaff is exceptionally friendly. Great spot when you want some quiet conversation away from the kiddies and great food at a reasonable price. From the moment our waiter said "butternut squash soup," I was in heaven. The trip skyward started a little bit earlier. I arrived earlier than my date and was seated beside a window overlooking the street. There were only a handful of other folks there (7PM on Thursday), but everyone was thoughtfully placed at least a table away from the next group. Very nice! Did I mention butternut squash soup? It was wonderful. Slightly sweet, warm and so comforting on a cold night. He had filet and they substituted another sauce at his request. I had pork tenderloin. Both were really nicely done. And though I can normally eat like a pig (shut up, Matt), I ended up having to take home half my dinner. Because I had to leave room for dessert. And I was really glad I did! We shared their chocolate decadence with raspberry sauce. Nice tangy and rich sauce, smooth and creamy chocolate. I've only been here once, so my 5 star may be a little premature. But I'll tell ya, I went here last night, and it was fantastic! The place is quite nice. Good light, furnishings, etc. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. It's moderately expensive; my friend and I had an appetizer and two entrees, no alcohol, and the bill was around $60. Based on the food and service, I didn't think it was excessive. We shared a spice shrimp tower which was just... excellent. Delicious... and not quite like anything I've had before. I had the pork chop which was great; a huge pork chop with this basil sauce stuff with potatos and perfectly prefpared vegetables. I don't want to understate this: that was the most perfectly prepared pork chop I think I have ever had. My friend got the meditaranian pasta which, I'm sad to say, she wasn't thrilled with.. BUT.. I'm not blaming this on the food because right after she ordered, she tells me she doesn't really like pasta. I'm not qualified to judge her meal, because I dislike sun-dried tomato things in general; but I can say that the pasta was cooked just right and her meal LOOKED good. My only negative comment would be that their menu is pretty small. But I'd rather see a small menu done well than an 8 page menu of questionable quality. Straight to the point: Good: Not bad Sausage and Fettuccine Linguine... awfully rich. Very polite and attentive. (of course, we were the only ones in the restaurant) Bad: Parking at lunch sucks. Where is everybody? I was the only one eating here. My recommendation: Go for dinner. Menu for lunch isn't very large and wasn't that impressive. Finally made it here! Living so close to this place but always kept missing it for some reason. Made it here on a Friday evening, and just beat the dinner rush. We got lucky with a table by the window which was amazing. The bread at the start wasn't too bad, and the butter was smooth. I wouldn't pay for it though. We got the halibut special and their chicken bart stuffed with goat cheese and spinach. The dishes were pretty huge with a side of mashed potatoes and beans. The chicken was topped with mushrooms in marsala sauce and was amazing. I was struggling to finish it all. The fish was again a pretty solid chunk and I am glad it was since it cost $34. We didn't have any drinks and the total including tip was about $76. Pretty good dinner date! Not someplace I would go every other week but definitely once in a while. One of my favorite 'special' places to go. The style is described as Rustic Italian and it's everything you might expect and more. This is no Olive Garden by the way (and so much better for that!) - the dishes are individual and wonderful. From the 'Best Tomato soup in the world' (their words and who am I to argue) to the shared dessert sampler (I recommend!) and not forgetting the wonderful choice of entrees (my personal favorite is Veal Medalions - not everyone's choice I know but so delicious). The ambience is good too - gentle music playing - attentive but not pushy waiters, and I love that they have a note on the menu asking you to turn off your cellphones! This place works for a casual dinner or something more formal. Ideal for a romantic dinner for two or a big family party. Amazingly, you can turn up and likely get a table without booking (they don't take bookings except for big parties) - that's why this place feels like a best kept secret. It's wonderful food and well worth a trip. I estimate $100 for good dinner for two with wine, but you'll feel it was worth it. read more

Charming and tasty!!! Greeted immediately upon entry, plenty of street parking, well lit by natural light. I really value a restaurant committed to making a few dishes really well and this is one of those restaurants. Not sure if its still true but I read that the owner/executive chef prepares every order! Pros: Intimate, clean dining room, delicious halibut steak special which included perfectly prepared vegetables (al dente), a light grape tomato broth and mashed potatoes. I was very pleased that the dinner sides were not an overthought. Also great to see they had a gluten free menu. Cons: Staff were very polite but once all the tables were occupied it was difficult to get their attention for additional drinks, the check etc. Notes: Didn't require a reservation for a Monday night. I would give this place a 3 1/2 stars. We wanted to go here from the reviews I read. I ordered the "Wife's favorite" ($14) It is a simple sauteed shitake, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes with a tomato cream sauce over pasta. The first 5 bites were great, but it is one of those dishes you can easily get sick of because of the heaviness from the cream. I thought it was a tiny bit salty--there was nothing else to balance out the flavor. I would of liked something refreshing or crisp on the side. My boyfriend ordered a medium done steak ($28), however it came out very well done. There was no problem to take the steak back, but of course the new one was a little under medium. I guess that is expected... My in-law ordered the night's special ($29): Halibut with a tomato sauce..she seemed satisfied. I also thought the server was overly attentive on the water...I would take 2 sips and there he was refilling again... Simply Devine! I come from italian heritage and the homemade gnocchi here is the second best I've ever had next to the one I had in Italy. The service is absolutely wonderful, our server was very kind and helpful (and funny!) We've had dinner here a handful of times with friends, and it's always a special experience. The waitstaff is very friendly and charming, and the ambiance is just right. It would be a great place for a group of friends, family, or for a date. My husband and I love the Bruschetta appetizer, and the chef is phenomenal. I've had the cioppino and the pork, and they were both of a quality that is hard to find at other restaurants. Also, you can bring in a bottle of wine for a small corkage fee. I've been working in Redmond for almost 5-years and didn't realize how many great Italians places make there homes here. This place is actually a few blocks away from Tropea, another one of my favorite restaurants to dine on great pasta and other tasty Italian treats. Anyways, this place is great and a must try! Everything is nice a fresh, especially their free bread! It's hot, nice and crispy on the outside and creamy soft on the inside. It's a great way to start your meal and also to help you slurp that extra sauce off your place. If there bread is this good, imagine what their paid entrees are like. Yes, they are awesome! I enjoyed the Homemade Gnocci, Cioppino, and Wife's Favorite. Amazing restaurant. The pastas our group offered were delicious, and the desserts were to die for. Be sure to try the chocolate mousse dessert or the chef's walnut cake. The fool could not have been better, and our waiter Sergi had the delightful aura of traditional Italian waiters- a gentleman to the max and at all times passionate about helping us choose our food. It was almost nostalgic, I wish there were more restaurants and waiters like him! Very cozy restaurant, only a 5 min wait to be seated on a Friday night. Great food, less than ideal service. I've been to this restaurant many times and had wonderful experience with a server who is on their website. Yesterday I was there for lunch with my girlfriend and had one of the worst experience I've had at any restaurant. The server was obviously having a lousy time serving us, got our orders mixed up, won't say a word when bringing the food to the table. At the end of the meal while we were having coffee, she came over to our table 4 times to see if we've paid - she was nowhere to be found when we wanted to place the order! There were numerous empty tables around us and we didn't understand why she'd want to rush us out - at 1pm on a weekday. We realised that we've been treated this way and we were alone, as far as we could see, as she was extremely friendly to an elderly couple next to us, who seemed to be regulars at the restaurant. For their price range, I won't tolerate this level of service. I used to recommend this restaurant to all out of towners but that has come to an end. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. They have super good food. I've only had it take out, and each time, it was without fail, AMAZING. I love the Gorgonzola Pear Ravioli, it's absolutely divine! Also, great to dip their amazing fresh bread in the sauce. I've also had the Lemon Herb Chicken - delish; the Angel Prawns pasta dish - delish; caprese salad - delish, but really it's your standard caprese. As for their desserts, the Bailey's Walnut Cake is SOOOOOOO good. I was with someone who ordered it, otherwise I never would have thought to, and WOW I was so glad they did because I would've continued to miss out on one of the best desserts ever. There are two reasons I'm going to give this place 4 stars instead of 5: 1) I've never had the "dine-in" experience, so I can't give a full review on that front; 2) I do think it can get pricey pretty quick (the pear gorg ravioli and the lemon herb chicken dishes I mentioned above are $17 ish each, and that's on the somewhat cheaper end) However, the flavors wont' disappoint! read more

I can't believe I've lived in the area my whole life and I've never even heard of this place! What a gem. Great restaurant for a casual or nice night out; the ambiance is such that you could walk in wearing something dressy/sharp or, like I did, straight from work wearing a t-shirt and jeans, and not feel out of place. I went on a Wednesday night, and it was decently full, but not so crowded that we had to wait for a table. The staff in general were very attentive, and both the food and wine were stellar, especially considering the prices! The prices for the entrees and pasta dishes were more akin to something I'd see in the south end, not for the yuppie Redmond area (~not~ that I am complaining, mind). We didn't try any of the desserts this time since we were too stuffed full of amazing pasta, but they looked fantastic. I will definitely be back, even if just to try the walnut cake or their house specialty, chocolate fondue (must order in advance!). Why four stars and not five? The wait time for our main dishes was absolutely atrocious. We were there for two hours, and considering we were seated immediately, ordered within minutes, and had our bread and salads minutes after that, that tells you how long the wait for the food was. I felt a little bad for practically inhaling my pasta, but by the time I got it, I was starving. Yes, we had bread on the table, but why fill up on bread when you're anticipating delicious pasta? I love Italian and decided I wanted something a bit more upscale so gage Sages a try. Went early on a Saturday and other than an extremely loud bachelorette group loved the look and feel. Service was stellar. Waiter didn't rush us and gave us attention without hovering. He was great when my friend wanted a red pasta made into a garlic/olive oil sauce and even made a good suggestion for another change. Food was overall good with a few minor misses (hence the 3 star). I ordered the pork tenderloin. The pork was really flavorful but dry from being overcooked. Veggies served with it were really good, but it was on a bed of something mashed that was a bit flavorless. My friend's pasta was great and really fresh and flavorful. Overall will give them another chance to try some addition items. Could be a romantic place to go on a date or special event. Went 5/2/20 so Covid19 pick-up orders only. Phone in order ahead of time as fine dining takes a bit to make fresh to order. Allowing 1 at a time in for order pick-up. Clean, no qualms going in. My wife and I both ordered the Sages 3 Course for $25. Started with a fresh Ceasar salad, I loved & wife said only way would be better for her is if have anchovies (yuck for me ). She had Mediterranean Pasta that she highly recommends and I had Beef Tortellini that was AMAZING! Perfect amount of pasta to beef (other places I have had it was too much one or other) The sauce on it flavorful garlicky (but not overly) goodness, sopped every bit of it with their bread. For desert she had tiramisu that she loved and I had the chocolate decadence that had a bright fresh raspberry sauce on it, the chocolate was so yummy and rich I almost had to split into 2 servings for me, but didn't because YUM! Highly recommend a visit and when they can safely open up will also make this our new special occasion place to go (since Frankie's is no more) as Sages is wonderful!! What are you waiting for? Fabulous Italian Food! This is a nice, quiet place for lunch in downtown Redmond. I attended a business luncheon here last year and I've been hooked ever since. It's my go-to place anytime I need a break from my office. Finding parking can be a bit of a challenge, so I recommend arriving before noon if you want to find a space close by. Went to eat here a few times when they first opened 12 years ago, when we lived nearby, and it was delicious. Decided to return last night when we happened to be in the area at dinner time, and the food was just as good as ever. Everything on the menu looked good, so it was hard to choose. My pork tenderloins in Marsala sauce with apples was superb. My husband had the salmon in a light lemon sauce, also delicious. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than you might expect, but well worth it. The food is all made fresh and tastes like it, and the dishes have the perfect flavor, simple but rich and satisfying at the same time. The atmosphere is nice, intimate and more quiet, as opposed to so many loud and clanging places that seem to be popular now. Loved it, glad we were able to return after so many years. My wife and I chose Sages because we wanted a nice quiet Italian restaurant in Redmond, and we're glad we did. The restaurant is on a quiet corner that doesn't seem to see a lot of action on weeknights. When we went in, we were greeted by the friendly staff and quickly seated. We ordered pasta, which was cookd just right and tasted delicious. Apparently, the owner/chef Bart cooks everything himself, and it was a truly great culinary experience.
