I LOVED THIS PLACE. My friends and I came here during Devour Indy and we had the best experience. Our waitress was AWESOME. So friendly, informative, and generous (she gave us extra dessert). She took our orders when we were ready and answered any questions we had. They had a great Devour menu to choose from. The food was phenomenal and were HUGE portions. There were 3 of us and we did 2 devour options - single and for two. We shared our appetizers which was spinach and artichoke dip and poutine. For entrees, I ordered a chicken dish that came with some kind of delicious mashed potato and brussel sprouts. My friends ordered noodle dishes. For dessert, we had strawberry shortcake and some kind of blackberry coffee cake with ice cream.....SO. GOOD. I can't rave enough about this place. Our waitress gave us individual pieces of coffeecake to take home for free, which was so nice of her! Decided to visit and old favorite for the first to I've in months and we were not disappointed! Most restaurants in the area have been very busy lately with crazy long wait tiMes, so arriving at Sahm's and being seated immediately was a great start to the evening. For an appetizer, we had the Shrimp Ciggars. The flavor was ok but somewhat bland and had too much cream cheese in the stuffing. I'll try something else next time. My husband was being nostalgic and enjoyed rhe Beef Manhattan. He was verY happy with the flavor and portion size (the half serving is huge!) I decided to try the weekly special; Sea Bass. It was coatedd in a red pepper hummus and topped with feta cheese. The sides were Brussel sprouts and rice. An absolutely delicious dish. Perfect flavors, great quality fish and a generous portion. We've been enjoying the food, drinks and service, atmosphere here for so many years! We keep coming back for more and are NEVER disappointed. And we equally enjoy the same treats at the Flying Horse Pub as well. Be sure especially to try the mushroom caps, cranberry salad, spinach melt and of course, their famous coffee cake. However, I'm recently reminded how truly delicious the Grilled Salmon is! I savored every last bite of the Greek addition of capers, feta, Kalamatta olives and artichoke hearts. Oh so good. I had never been to a Sahms before and I was so pleasantly surprised! I had always heard good things and it's clear why Sahms has been around for so long. First, they serve a slice of coffee cake with every salad order. What's not to love? I had a taco salad which was very tasty and a perfect size lunch portion. (And subsequently put me on a taco salad kick--nothing has matched this one yet!)The coffee cake was also excellent. It's what makes me want to come back! We sat in the bar area which saved us a bit of a wait which was nice. It was very dark, at least in that portion of the restaurant--one of those blinding moments stepping outside into a sunny day after lunch. We have been eating here several times a month for a few years now. 90% of the time I have gotten their ribs. Some of the best ribs anywhere especially for a non-bbq place. We walked in as usual a few weeks ago and they had taken them off the menu. But they told us that they would be having them occasionally on the monthly specials. We were totally upset about them taking them off. So they had them listed this week as a special and we both ordered them. They come out covered in a mustard sauce instead of their normal bbq sauce. Sahm's is a class act. The server we had at our visit was awesome. She checked, checked, and checked on use. She wasn't a bother just a great hostess. Now for the food. The tenderloin was out of this world and I am picky when it comes to my tenderloins. Onion rings were great. Not sure what my wife's was called. She said the chicken was tender and very good. My review is mostly based on the service. I went here with a party of over 20 people. Not sure of the exact number of people, it's all a blur, I was so tired! Everyone here was really nice, my server was a really attentive, sweet young lady. She provided me and my party with everything we needed and asked for. I appreciate her customer service. The food I had was ok, the shrimp tacos were good. They could have used more shrimp and less toppings (green stuff) but they were still really good. Everything else was just ok to me. I went here for devour and it was pretty tasty! The service was okay but I'd give it a pass because again it was devour and they were very busy. The ambiance isn't really too much of anything just normal restaurant vibes. The spinach dip had good flavor but my favorite was the coffee cake dessert! While in Fishers, my wife wanted something traditional for lunch, not anything new and adventurous like I might try. So, nothing says traditional in the area like Sahm's! We pulled into their shared lot in the shopping plaza just south of 116th on the east side of the street. There is a hostess stand which you wait at to be seated and then you are escorted to either a table or booth. The interior is quite dark for a restaurant, but I guess they see themselves as a pub, so that is to be expected. The interior also seems a bit dated. The fabrics on some of the benches were fading. Though clean, it just seems to need a bit of life added to the dining room. That somewhat shows since the average age of the customers was 50+. It just doesn't have the 'wow' factor that appeals to younger customers. We placed our orders and noticed that our server was quite busy. He never stopped moving from table to table. My wife ordered the Chili Cheese Dog. It came with some really tasty fries. Our table's supply of ketchup was empty, so she needed to use one from another table since our waiter didn't deliver the food to our table and didn't get back for awhile. My wife thought the sandwich was fine, but the hot dog was rather average. Nothing special about it. I ordered from the lunch special and got the 1/2 salad and soup option. I went with the Chicken Velvet which was really good. Lots of veggies and some shredded chicken. (Note that a clam chowder was originally brought out and I had to send it back.) I also got the Balsamic Strawberry Fields salad. Nice bite sized pieces of lettuce and other ingredients and topped with strips of grilled chicken. Not sure why everything else was served bite sized and the chicken wasn't. But before I ate it, I couldn't see any dressing. I expect balsamic dressing to have a dark color. There was very little shine to the greens. So I mentioned it and the second waiter removed it and brought out another. I could see a dressing was on this one, but it didn't have the dark colored balsamic either. I was tired of sending things back and ate it. It was still good, but whatever dressing it was, it lacked the deep savory/acidic taste of balsamic vinegar which is a shame since that usually pairs with fresh strawberries quite well. And the chicken was completely overcooked. Good grilled flavor, but dry. We were able to get our check and that payment process went smoothly and quickly. Let's be honest, Sahms has been around forever, and we always come back bc it's the food that is delicious. Usually there's rarely a hostess at the front and you have to wait forever to get seated, but today, she was there and sat us right away. My father and I have been talking about their breaded mushrooms for 2 weeks and I couldn't take it anymore so we had to come. Service is ehhhh, you can feel rushed bc after 5 minutes of receiving your entree, they usually drop your bill. We have to wait and request for our drinks to be refilled, and I'm sure our server disappeared for a smoke break or two, BUT we still LOVE coming to Sahms. I ordered the mushrooms, the turkey spinach sandwich w alfalfa sprouts, my son had a cheeseburger but of course, he didn't eat any of it, not that anything was wrong w it. He opted to eat all MY MUSHROOMS instead. The chef came out and checked on us and told me how to make them, but theyll never taste like Sahms. My family and I have been eating at this restaurant since we moved to Fishers in 1986, back when there was just the one Sahm's at its original location on the corner of 116th Street and Allisonville Road, which is sadly now a CVS. The main reason I appreciate and like Sahm's still is the main reason I liked and appreciated it back then. The food is always good, it's always consistent, they do enough new stuff with specials and changes to the menu to keep it lively, and the atmosphere is always what you'd want it to be, no matter who you're there with. I've been there on a date when I was in high school. I went with my family every Sunday after church while I was in middle school. I went a couple years ago by myself on an afternoon to just be alone and think. And I went a couple weeks ago to celebrate my mother's 75th birthday. I had Malibu Melt this last time, and it was great. Sliced turkey breast, sliced avocados, Roma tomatoes, bacon, Muenster cheese, Dijon mustard on homemade toasted white bread, hold the alfalfa sprouts. It wasn't my favorite loaded potato skins of yesteryear, but it was great. I've also had the Clint Eastwood, a manly burger with bacon and stuff on it. Also great. My dad had the chicken fettuccini, which looked terrific. And next time I go I'd like to try the Fried Dynamite Shrimp Tacos. They have your basic American food stuff, like meatloaf and lots of salads and other things for easily offended taste buds. And they have some off-the-beaten track stuff. I hope this place stays open for another generation. I need to dedicate myself to eating there more often. So it is said, so shall it be done. read more

I checked out Sahms for dinner with two friends of mine. I was a bad reviewer and forgot photos because I was enjoying their company. I ordered the Rueben with onion rings. I love how many side options they give you here, it's a nice change of pace from fries. I really enjoyed my sandwich and it was enough for two meals. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. I took Mom here for a birthday lunch a few days ago. Sahm's has the same menu for lunch and dinner which is a plus; many others don't. I hadn't been to Sahm's since about 2002 mainly due to location but it was a nice halfway point for us to meet. The Pros: We each had ribs and they didn't disappoint. They were excellent. Maybe a little too much sauce but very tender and meaty. There are several sides to choose from and each entree comes with your choice of two. We each had the dill slaw. Mom had mashed potatoes and I had onion rings. The onion rings were a nice surprise as they were more like onion strings. The Cons: The only real con were the cocktails. I ordered an Old Fashioned and Mom went with a Manhattan. They were both very watery. I should have sent them back. We each had a beer with the Ribs. The breaded pork tenderloin sandwich! I know everyone in Indy has a favorite and I think I found mine! A group of us had lunch there and I ordered the half order breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with fries. The fries were great, hot and just slightly salty. The sandwich was amazing, for a number of reasons. 1. Size - this was the first time I felt like the sandwich was sized for a human. It wasn't bigger than the plate and more than anyone should eat in a day much less in one sitting. I know someone will think this is a bad thing but you can order a "whole" order if you really need a piece the size of a dinner plate. But it's so great that they offer a half size for a reduced price. I dislike wasting food and this order is manageable for me. 2. The flavor was great! The breading had a nice salty, slightly seasoned flavor and the pork was fresh and flavorful. Not too thick it was pounded out nicely which made biting easy. 3. Fresh good looking lettuce. The staff is friendly and the service was good and prompt. He brought refills without people having to ask and he kept all the orders straight (11 people). I didn't have a piece but everyone at the table that ordered salad also got a slice of their coffee cake. It's apparently legendary, very rich and delicious. Have been going here for 30+ years. Last night it was dirty with food on floor and dirty tables. Had the breaded tenderloin which is now 14.00 and was charged an extra .50 cents for onion for the sandwich. Waitress said onion is not on the menu for the tenderloin, just mayo, lettuce and tomato. They have never done this before and was astonished and asked if they charge for other items like ketchup, mustard and pickles.... The answer was no. This was odd and so after dinner asked to talk to manager. But got same answer. Tipped waitress as it was not her fault for the weird policy, but no wonder the place was half full, and we won't be back. read more

I am ecstatic that I randomly decided to eat here for lunch. Swordfish with romesco sauce is a special on their menu right now and it is soooo good! Their Mac n cheese is gooey good and their fried mushrooms are not like the rest and really good! The dipping sauce with the mushrooms is a perfect match. This family friendly restaurant has a great atmosphere and their menu is extensive. I've been to this location a few times and have had great interactions with the employees. Parking is super easy, and everyone you're with will absolutely be able to find something they like. A few of my favorites are the avocado blt and the Caesar salad. I know that sounds lame, but their croutons are insanely good. Today I branched out and got the lunch special which consisted of grilled chicken, asparagus, melted Brie, lettuce and Dijon and it was delicious. Wonderful combination of flavors with a strand mix of items and I was impressed. I've been going to Sahm's for twenty years, since this location was on the other side of Allisonville. Consistent experience, nothing fancy in either the food or service. Just always get what you expect. Here on this trip specifically to scratch the tenderloin itch, and it did not disappoint. Sahm's doesn't serve hubcap-sized cuts, but you end up wasting some of those at other spots. Here it is lightly breaded and flavorful, and pairs nicely with onion rings. No prob getting it just like it should be, pickles, onions, and mayo. Only Miracle Whip would make it better! read more

We visited this one recently while in the area for an appointment, and area I typically avoid because the traffic is just so...frustrating. :) Sahm's is always above average, but I'm not quite sure they ever QUITE reach the stellar point (at least in any of our visits) Breaded tenderloins are fantastic. That's one thing they do VERY well in deed. Everything else (and I've had several dishes from various Sahm's locations) has been above average, yet it just doesn't seem the reach the 5 star range.
