This is banh mi done right. Heaping servings of cold cuts the butter mayo is spot on and the paté is perfect. I'm a transplant from LA and having tasted banh mi up here when I moved made me hate my life that I have to stay in norcal without proper banh mi. This is a life saver. Most banh mi I've had up here has dense bread that's too big, too bready, and too hard. The baguettes I've had up here are way too similar to sourdough bread. the bread here has the right size and balances the right amount of crisp and density. Just like how a baguette should be. I came about half an hour to closing so the bread was a bit stale but the quality was still present The meats are loaded on there. I had the house special and I love headcheese. I was very happy after taking a bite and getting that gratuitous amount of crunch. The eggrolls are great too. Other Vietnamese places pad their eggrolls with taro or some other starchy veg. The eggrolls at this place was traditional and had the flavor profile I missed so much from LA. The saddest thing? It doesn't come with ngouc mam. I know they have the sauce as they have noodle and rice dishes. They just don't hand the sauce out alone with egg rolls. The flavor of the eggroll they make is specifically made for ngouc mam and I was sad that they were willing to have people taste it with sweet and sour sauce and sweet chili sauce. Can't blame them as people up here very weridly like sweet and sour sauce with everything. If you like eggrolls buy these and pair with nouc mam green leaf lettuce and pickled radish and you'll be swimming in authentic Vietnamese goodness. This is a legit Vietnamese place. I like that the flavor is silimar to what can be found in Socal. Other customers recommended the Saigon special (B1) and pork chai siu (B7). Although west el Camino isn't my neighborhood, I'll be back to try the other banh mi and pho. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese sandwiches and was super excited to try this place out. Tonight I had the combination cold cut sandwich as well as the steamed pork sandwich. Without having to take off the wrapper I could already tell that the proportions were going to be disappointing. There just weren't enough ingredients inside it. Once you take off the wrapper you'll see what looks like a French loaf with a slit through its side and a few sprigs of cilantro sticking out. I'm used to eating banh mi's so stuffed that there's no doubt that you're getting a good meal. To be honest, I saw the photos on yelp and already had an idea that I might not be content with one sandwich. The ingredients weren't bad, just sparse. The pate wasn't the flavorful, peppery, and creamy stuff I've had on other sandwiches before. It gives me the impression that it was probably scooped out from a can and not made in-house. The butter/mayo spread was good, but sparse as well. The loaf itself was a bit chewy, giving me the impression that it wasn't very fresh. Toasting the bread before hand would've improved the texture significantly. Since the banh mi is the center point of the menu I expect MUCH more in terms of quality and flavor. It wasn't a terrible sandwich, just a bit less than average. I'd rather make the drive out to south sac than eat here again, but if you've got to get a quick fix here in Natomas then this might hold you over for a short while. I would have to admit that this is one of the most critical reviews that I have ever left, but only because I believe that there is a possibility of improvement. read more

Get the B2 Grilled Pork Bahn Mi! Absolutely delicious! The service is fast I always take it to go and never have to wait long. Don't forget to ask for it to be cut in half if you like your sandwich cut like me lol. I want to try those pork or skewers over rice dishes but everytime I go there I end up going with my favorite the grilled pork bahn mi sandwich since I know it will never disappoint haha. They not only sell bahn mi's but also milk teas and rice plates and fried snacks such as French fries and fish balls. They also have some items you can buy as well. It would have been better to have a 6 inch baguette that is filled with chicken and condiments. In the entire sandwich there was only 1/2 cup of chicken. Vietnamese food in Natomas has been disappointing compared to South Sac. A friend recommended this place which I tried to go to for dinner several times, but they close at 6! Really wish they were open longer. Happened to be running errands nearby and ordered lunch to -go. I ordered the bun Bo hue , "no blood or pork feet please". SC: "we don't add that. We're Americanized" thank goodness! Finally! The authentic places that do include blood & pork feet, never substitute regular beef when they omit the stuff you don't want. So you pay full price and get less protein. Broth was tasty and kudos for keeping the lemongrass flavor. Not really spicy though and I don't miss the shrimp,paste at all. Bonus points for packaging broth so that it's leakproof! Another basic that many Asian restaurants fail at. Korean bbq plate - was pleasantly surprised to see it came with a fried egg too. Good portions for what they charge $13 Meat could have been cooked longer to render/sear the fat on the ribs. But definitely more meat than some of my previous go-to places. Grilled pork bank mi - $6.99 more expensive than South Sac and not a lot of meat BUT well worth saving the gas & time to drive ( and long lines). The French bread was very fresh and not crunchy like South sac ( sometimes). The meat was lean & not riddled with fat like the mystery meat at Houng Lan (sorry fans). Overall, not bad for $35 3 meals. I'll be back, hopefully with other foodies so I can sample more food at once. read more
