B2 - Grilled Pork Sandwich / Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng
    Leslie F.

The pho was excellent. The bahn mi was a little dry and not well balanced. Didn't seem to have enough meat, although everything was well seasoned. The quick and courteous counter ordering was easy. There's also a little international market with fantastic finds!! Very large open area. But it seems like it can't decide what it is. There were several people there enjoying pho and there was loud Asian language music playing. Disappointing that their to go for soup doesn't seal. I opened a bag of broth when I got home. First time for that. In a very crowded Sacramento Vietnamese scene, this felt a little skippable. Bummer.

I come here for their consistently good bánh mì sandwiches. The prices are reasonable, and they also offer a variety of other Vietnamese dishes. The service is always friendly, and the restaurant itself is clean and welcoming. I enjoy stopping by whenever I'm craving a sandwich but don't want to drive all the way down south for one.

Quality/Quantity - Visiting your Ikea and wanting a light lunch. So we decided to split a Chicken Banh Mi - Overall, the sandwich was good. Good proportions with meat, veggies, and bread. A good solid sandwich, but then again we are light eaters. I look forward to trying your other menu items. Ambiance - Decent size local business. Even has some asian groceries for sale; see pictures. More than enough table seating, looks like half your customers order to-go. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm. Plenty of mall parking. Clean unisex restroom. Service - Counter service. Price - $9ish; reasonable prices. I'm outdating myself, but I still remember the days when GOOD large Banh Mi sandwiches were only $1.50; okay, I am going back 25 years... Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2019.

So so good!! I love their pho and its like the perfect ratio of meat to noodles!! I've only been here twice and the first time i ordered a rare steak pho and then the second time i ordered the vegetarian pho. Both were delicious. It was made pretty quickly too. I probably waited for only ~5 minutes. Definitely coming back here again!

Craving pho and popped in after seeing it on our way home. Didn't know this was here but excited there's something in Natomas since Saigon Alley isn't open. Solid 4! Casual eatery style seating situated alongside a grocery style market. (There's only one aisle though) You order at the counter and there's a great variety of options. 4.5/5 Beef pho - great flavor and good portion size 4/5 Spring roll 3.5/5 Grilled Pork with rice (the meat was a bit dry. Next time I'll try the vermicelli. 3/5 Unicorn boba (Thai tea + Taro) 4/5 Pork Banh mi - bread was delicious The pho and banh mi were the best. We will definitely be back!

Came here for the first time, the staff were so nice and sweet. I liked that it was a restaurant/store so you can shop around while waiting for the food. The inside was very clean! We got the Saigon special sandwich, chicken curry soup and well as lobster balls. The food was amazing!! Very fresh and tasted home made. We're definitely coming back!

Chicken Banh mi B-3 the only thing I order here- it is super tasty and a good price!

This rating is just for the Bahn Mi sandwiches. This is my favorite Bahn mi spot and the price is incredible for such a large sandwich! Their warm spread and flavorful chicken make them the best around.

The food does not taste the same, very bland. I remember it being very flavorful. The eggrolls are really small now also, the portion size is really small now put more effort into your food again.

Only grabbed a couple bahn mi to go. A very generously sized and stuffed sandwich. That bread is the perfect sandwich loaf!

pho is expensive for what you get.

Beef pho was not good. You only get 2-3 pieces of the meat. Broth was very bland, watered down and was predominately smelled clove. No greetings, when entered or left. There was no service. Ambiance is cafeteria self serve, I had to serve my own plates. Food was not good, service wasn't existent, and definitely did not have a "restaurant" quality, yet the cost and portions of the pho was reflective of nicer restaurant. Try the rice plate or bahn mi. Pho was really bad.

    Ketta H.

The stag was nice treated me when I came in and was polite the whole time I ordered the grilled pork spring rolls and the grilled chicken and a Thai tea. Let me say the flavor of the pork was delicious. I love that they don't fill it with a whole lot of lettuce. I do wish that the they had carrots and not cucumber in it, but overall it was delicious and the sauce omg yes especially if you add chili sauce to it makes it 100000. The Thai tea was good as well a little sweet but delicious definitely will be coming back

Food was tasty. I ordered two additional egg rolls & an iced coffee, all good. Service was fast and friendly. Beat the afternoon rush, so it was quiet inside the restaurant. I like the fact that they have a common grocery items.

Ask the Community - Saigon Corner

Do the vegetarian rice and vermicelli plates have vegan sauces (no fish sauce)? Thanks.

Most likely fish sauce. But you can ask and see what they say? Without fish sauce…

Does they have a catering/large tray of chicken/takeout for party menu?

You should call them and ask.

Do they have tofu bahn mi like the little Vietnam spots?

Yes their veggie banh mi had tofu and mushrooms in it. So delicious!!

Do they have high chairs for babies?

Yes, there are multiple high chairs available.

The restaurant is in a really cool old Victorian house, and the staff were super friendly. The interior was clean and looked like a nice place to dine in, but I ended up taking my order to go. I ordered the #19 with turkey, prosciutto, avocado, and swiss on a dutch crunch roll. The bread had just gone into the oven, so we had to wait about 10 minutes, but I can't complain because it was baked fresh to order. Overall, I thought the sandwich was very good, but honestly not quite as amazing as people online had made it out to be. It was definitely good, but I don't know if I'd be dying to go back when I think Ike's, Mr. Pickle's, Corti Bros, and maybe even Nugget or Sprouts make more interesting sandwiches. To me, those places use slightly higher quality ingredients as well, though maybe I just didn't order the best sandwich here. Overall, it was a good sandwich and a good experience. My expectations were probably just a little too high. I wouldn't be dying to come back but also wouldn't say no if someone wanted to go there for lunch.

It was light and tasted like some kind of delicious wheat if no one told me I'd not known it was gluten free. The turkey filling was more generous in the gluten free sandwich than the boxed full sandwich, not sure why that is. The salad was delicious, the oil based dressing was tart but had some kind of sweetness added that really brought out the umami flavor. The chocochip cookie was soft, sweet, and crumbled but still moist and a little bit chewy, totally hit the spot for the end of the meal. All in all, delicious deli sandwiches and sides from Tony's. Due to a terribly inconvenient Amtrak cancellation, the water I packed ran out and my breakfast became a distant memory. I decided to order the garlic pesto turkey sandwich along with a painful bottle of water (For some reason Amtrak has no working water fountains) and small signature mac & cheese for sustenance. My order number was called quickly--too quickly. Staff forgot my mac & cheese, and after a gentle reminder I was presented with a truly small steaming cup. The claim is that the side dish is made with a blend of three cheeses and a touch of spice, but it tastes flat, like melted cheddar cheese mixed with too much milk. My cheese craving was fulfilled, and that would be all Sourdough's signature mac & cheese is good for. It's mediocre. As for the sandwich, what I received wasn't pesto. While I was mentally recalculating my schedule, I noticed what I'm eating should have basil. Peering into what I was chewing, the sandwich was predominantly orange from a sauce I don't recognize and yellow from the mustard. My pesto sandwich wasn't green. No matter, mistakes were made and I'll just save the food for tomorrow. I didn't feel like getting the attention of the employee glued to her phone, crouched out of view behind the counter. I meant to take a picture of my sandwich for this review, but a man kept staring at my bag. He tried asking if he could see my sandwich a few times in broken English. I asked "Do you want my sandwich?" He looked sheepish and said no, no. I asked him again, more firmly. "Well, don't have to. Don't have to have whole sandwich," he said. "You could give half. If you want. Very hungry." I gave my sandwich wordlessly. He gave a quick thank you, unwrapped the package and wolfed down my mediocre leftovers. Again, perhaps I should have fasted, saving a precious $22.50 and bought only water--but at least one man was fed and satisfied.

For starters, Ike's has its own way of doing things: plain mayo is not their thing. Only way to get plain mayo on a sandwich is to get lucky that there's a smidgen still left in a jar in the fridge after they prepare their house spread. They mix GARLIC and gawd knows what else for spices to make their Ike's sauce, so allergies beware. They offer plain mustard, but not plain mayo? For seconds, the sandwich bread is not up to the challenge of holding together the mountain of fillings inside. Pics prove my point. I want to eat a sandwich with my hands, not a plastic fork (or a shovel). And I don't want to wear it, not in public. Proportions, people! One size does not fit all. Now, in fairness, the meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato were fresh, chilled, and flavorful. However, IMHO $2.00+ to add equivalent of half an avocado is robbery when a whole avocado is $1 in the market. Fortunately I arrived when there wasn't another person in the store so I was able order up a plain ham and cheese sub with L, T, and A. The counter person was patient as I attempted to navigate the menu board. I communicated my wish for a simple sandwich and it arrived, albeit ridiculously overstuffed and above my budget expectations. Props for kindness and understanding. My first visit to any shop is always testing how well they do basics. So far, I'm not an Ike's fan. I'm no newcomer to sub sandwiches. At 82, and being a Massachusetts native, I've been a sub girl for at least 75 years, ever since I could wrap my fingers around the perfect sub roll. A business should not be used as a middleman in someone's personal relationship, and employees certainly shouldn't be participating in that dynamic. What's disappointing is that the establishment had an opportunity to simply remain professional and neutral, but instead chose to entertain what was essentially a personal request. If I had behaved inappropriately, I should have been addressed directly. If there was a genuine safety concern, that should have been communicated through appropriate channels. Neither happened. Being a regular customer does not make someone entitled to determine who else gets to enjoy the establishment, and accommodating that kind of behavior sets an incredibly immature precedent.
