Bad/rude service. Good food Found this place on Yelp and has pretty good reviews so my girlfriend and I decided to try this place out. Upon entering we were not greeted by any sever instead was given this awful stare before being given our table. After getting our table we were IMMEDIATELY kick out from our table by older man who was one of the servers and moved us somewhere else because a party of 7 arrived shortly after we did. The food was good. But... this review isn't not about the food, it's about SERVICE. One of servers was extremely rude to us. I politely said "excuse me" and he had the audacity to say "huh" to us. As a customer this was extremely rude. Not to mention we were never checked on to see if we needed anything. As for the bill. The same server barley spoke to us and just type our total and waited. I have work in the food industry as a sever and chef for 5+ years and I know when service is bad and this is a prime example of bad/rude service. I don't care how Shitty (excuse my language) your day is, but if your coming to work don't bring your negative attitude to work. That could potentially make customers feels uncomfortable. The food is just like their sister restaurant on Oakdale. The food was good, but chicken tasted like it was processed. I almost thought it was soy chicken. Other Vietnamese places I've gone to served chicken breast or grilled chicken. These were sliced pieces with some type of marinate. The egg foo young was tasty! Their pearl iced tea had hard, chewy boba. The place was clean and nicely painted. We love Saigon One and have eating there for years. The food is always so good and always consistent. I would like to try more items from their menu, but we always end up getting our favorites, the Vegetable Chow Mein and the Vegetable Fried Rice. My husband loves their Spicy Combination Chicken (Kung Pao) and their Broccoli Chicken. They are so nice to substitute tofu for me for the meat for all the dishes that I love. I want to start with the positives here so let's get to it: The food is delicious. I always order Pho and it is great. Has the perfect amount of meat, noodles, and broth. The restaurant is good size and in a good area with lots of parking. Now, I had tried this place before and I did not come back for a long time because of one thing. THE SERVICE! I came back recently twice hoping that each time the service would be slightly better but I was wrong. I don't know what it will take for this restaurant to realize that their customer service is horrible. It is very rude, pushy, and unprofessional. The most recent time I went we were rushed to sit at our table, rushed to order drinks, rushed to look at the menu, rushed to order, rushed to eat, rushed to pay, and just rushed to GET OUT! I wish I could rate this place less than 1 star just based on my first experience here and the service provided at this so called restaurant. I ordered something off of the menu that was not very descriptive and thought it would come out as a dish that I have had many times at other restaurants, but when my plate came out it was something that I did not expect. I asked the waiter what it was that I received and he proceeded to grab a menu and shove it in my face showing me what I "wanted" and SHOULD HAVE ordered. I asked him if I could order something else on the menu and rather than taking the dish back and allowing me to get what I actually had in mind (like ALL other normal restaurants), he decided to tell me I was in the wrong for ordering the wrong dish. At this point, I was over the fact that I received the wrong dish and that he was obviously not going to change it for me so I said it was fine. When everyone finished their meals (I definitely did not, since I didn't want to eat chips with chicken and vegetables) he came to take our plates away, took one look at my nearly full plate, pointed at it and LAUGHED. I was so baffled and angry at his disrespectful behavior that I paid and left as quickly as I could. Having lived in the South Bay for many years, I was lucky to be exposed to various types of food; Vietnamese, Italian, Chinese, Japanese... I have to say that Pho and dim sum we're my favorites! This little place is pretty well hidden, not overly fancy inside or outside, but their food is good. They get pretty busy at lunch, but I didn't have a long wait. The food here is decent, but the service is horrible. When I walked in to eat with my brother, there were only 3 tables with clients and no one acknowledged we walked in until 5 minutes later. Overall, it's an OK fix for pho when I'm around the area. I took my friend with me too and one of her favorite appetizers is "canh ga chien nuoc mam"--which is fried chicken [glazed] in fish sauce. When we received our order, it came out with a small bowl on the side with watered down fish sauce. Maybe glazing it in fish sauce would have been a little too...foreign/exotic for the demographics here in this community. I can see why they made the safe bet to resort to serving it like that. When I ordered my pho ga, I asked if there were any "mam gung" I can have on the side to dip with my chicken. It's traditionally serve with pho ga because the sauce significantly compliments the flavor and this dish in itself. They did not have that as well. Again, I can see why they don't serve that because of the demographics here. The service was good, then again, I'm an easy going person so whether the server wants to chat it up or not, I'll still be happy regardless so as long as I get my food. When the Vietnamese lady in the back brought out the hot tea for us, I asked her if she had any "mam gung" available for the pho ga and she politely told us the only fish sauce was available is the one they normally serve (which is somewhat watered down)--i only asked twice because I initially ordered in Vietnamese (thinking that our server was Vietnamese, lol) and thought maybe some of the things I was requesting was lost in translation. My heart will always remain true to San Jose when it comes to pho. To me, Saigon One is just something here that's convenient and has some decent flavors to the area when I am feeling lazy to drive back home to San Jose. read more

We ordered 6 dishes for pick-up. They were quick and reasonably priced. That is the good. The bad was everything was super bland. The best thing was the BBQ pork fried rice and even that was only at 3 stars. I truly was hoping it would be good because my favorite place continues to get more expensive.
