I have had good experiences purchasing from Saint Laurent in the past. Our first time at this store however was awful. On the lower level we had some extremely helpful and kind staff, but going up to purchase the item we were looking for we were met with an extremely rude and reluctant associate who brought out products with dirt and marks on it that we scrapped off in front of them. Though I enjoy the brand I can not say I would recommend this location. They also like to make comments on the size you ask to try. read more

My husband and I stopped by Saint Laurent on Friday afternoon to look at some wallets. Full disclosure, we had already purchased a wallet from LV but I was open to seeing their collection and making a purchase if I found something I liked better. We were greeted by Cooper, who was pleasant at first - but in a span of 10 minutes was quite possibly the rudest person I've ever interacted with. He offered us some water as we were browsing, which was nice and very appreciated. After we walked around for a bit, we went back to him to ask if we could see some of their wallets. We followed him towards the front of the store where his attitude suddenly changed. I asked if the wallet I liked came in a different color and he goes "let me guess... you a want a beige? This ain't my first rodeo" excuse me??? I laughed him off but he continued to make snarky comments as I browsed through the wallets. Later on, I asked him about the size of a purse they had on display, he rolled his eyes and goes "it comes in this size and that size *pointing to another version on the wall* what else do you want to know". We seemed like an inconvenience to him and he failed to answer my question and continued to give us his dumbass attitude so we decided to leave and walked upstairs to browse other items. Looking through other reviews, seems like he's been employed here for some time and has a history of rude behavior except obviously to people who are going to spend money. I went to this location on July 19th, and I had the greatest experience. My boyfriend and I came in after I finished work ( I looked pretty gross) to pick out a bag for my birthday. We first stopped by the Louis Vutton store to check out what they had, but their customer service left a bad taste in my mouth so we left and came to YSL instead. And I am so glad we did. We were immediately greeted by Gloria, and she proceeded to help us the rest of our time in the store. My boyfriend asked for the different types of red bags they had because none of them were currently on display, and Gloria went above and beyond to showcase the bags. She also offered us champagne to celebrate my birthday. She made me feel so welcomed in the store, and was very kind, and did not push me to buy a more expensive bag. She was so helpful, and really listened to what I wanted. I ended up buying my first YSL bag with ease, and I will definitely be returning to this store to buy any future YSL goods. I visited this location because I was looking to see the color pale pink in person. The African American tall big gentleman who was servicing me would say "yes mam", "ofc", and "yup" but his snappy attitude was still saying I would like you to leave as soon as you are done. If there was a line I would perhaps understand his behavior but there was not a soul on the line and I personally never had such an unwelcoming experience at any location, especially at 5th ave. When I asked to be shown the color he first said there was none to show. When I realized there was none since I was interested in a case holder and wallet I asked him to show me those. He just opened the lowest drawer, left it open, and just walked away. Did he expect me to crouch down and dig through the drawer? I was in a short skirt and this also isn't the way to service a client. In the drawer, I saw the pale pink color I wanted to see. I verbalized it and there he explained he doesn't know any of the colors by name on the website but by its code number and thus he isn't aware of what color that is. I actually was interested in both the cardholder and wallet truly but because of his behavior, I was deterred from making the purchase at this location and instead walked over to Dior. When I told him I would be walking over to Dior that's when suddenly his attitude changed. Why am I not surprised. The only interest he had was where I had purchased my YSL embossed shoulder bag from and that I was over-stretching it. I mean why else do you think I was looking for a new wallet and cardholder? This is strictly for the men's selection. I'm sorry, but what I used to love about Dior has now made its way to Saint Laurent with Hedi and I am going to have to switch allegiance. I feel bad but I think I'll get over it soon. I used to walk in here pre-Hedi and turn right back around and leave - it was just not my thing. Now even the store associates finally acknowledge that the menswear is much better and they are finally making money in the category. And they have even gone so far as to expand the floor space for menswear. Ask for Donald - he will set you straight and help rescue you from your dorkiness. On a side note, I have never seen any of the attitude that some have talked about for this place - and it's not like I dress up to go shopping, quite the opposite in fact... I have been to the Soho location as well and I think I prefer this one as the selection here seems more practical/wearable. read more

Truly beautiful store. The aesthetic theme inside the store is unabashedly transparent and it's definitely an experience. I visited the store to try on Wyatts. The first person that greeted me was friendly and gave me directions to the upper level, but was on the way to help another customer. Upon arriving at the upper level using an elevator, I was helped by an Asian worker who really embraced hedi slimane's ideals of looking like a rockstar with long hair and skinny jeans. It was awesome to see even the store reps were oozing with the brand's aesthetics. Anyhow, he was very attentive to my needs and offered other products to try on. I got my first YSL bag from this location a couple weeks ago. The staff here are super nice (pleasantly surprised) and welcoming to me and everyone that walked in. They didn't discriminate or judge you based on what you wore, treated everyone the same. I came here a second time today to pick up my bag that needed to be repaired due to some discoloration (was my fault lol). Stephanie, was very helpful throughout the process and would provide updates via calls. Hopefully in the future when I make lots of money, I can shop here more often lol. read more

This was one of the most pleasant shopping experiences I've had in a while! I was immediately greeted by the whole staff when I walked in. They have an extremely neat and sophisticated setup ... and being that YSL is one of my favorite brands, it goes unsaid that the products are simply perfection. That being said, although the doorman is always sweet & welcoming, the rest of the staff seems kind of miserable (on weekends, at least). No one else greeted us & the group of 3 employees in the elevator completely ignored us; not even a smile. Other clients openly voiced the same concerns. The review loses a star for that. As for our buying experience, Matthew & Victor were the sales reps who assisted us. They provided exceptional customer service. Ever wonder why many of these high end boutiques are funeral quiet and graveyard empty? Yeah? It's because of the STAFF. My trip started when I received a gifted pair of Anja suede YSL pumps from a friend but didn't give me a gift receipt- I'm VERY selective with my items. Upon analyzing the pair, I decided I liked them but the smell of its suede was more on the pungent side so I questioned more of the shoe.. for reference, I have many Anouk Jimmy Choos and CL Iriza, Oscar de la Renta pumps just to name a few similar shoes which materials seem of much better crafting and the suede never smelled so strong (although I know it varies by source and designer) than these Anjas.. I don't really like YSL pumps but randomly do purchase bags from time to time. The soles were much thinner than its competitors, the suede was thinner, pungent but soft, the shoe felt lighter but most questionable of all, the gold Saint Laurent logo on the inner sole seemed "unclean", flaky in print. So I immediately thought maybe these were the display shoe that had been worn? Outlet discount? I took a long train ride from outside the city where I live to THIS Saint Laurent just to take a look and mentally compare the pair I had at home VS the store. I come in, no one greets me but the tall, handsome, blonde security guard seemed sweet and helped me inside. This SA- medium height and build, olive complexion, thick black med length hair combed- back didn't give me a name but I know how these people can be so I immediately got to the point, I want to see the Anja shoe in suede. He doesn't ask me to sit, has a conversation with someone else then comes back a few minutes later. I told him I just wanted to look at a few details. Everything was EXACT to what I saw, from the light weight of them to the strong smelling suede. I told him I buy my YSL bags on their website (for OBVIOUS reasons) and just got Vicky in black patent leather so he must've been annoyed that I was making him work and was probably not purchasing so he stormed off with the box but then I remembered-I forgot to look at the gold Saint Laurent logo. I told him I needed to see once more because I forgot to look at the logo, I pull it up on my photos for personal comparison and told him, "I just want to see if this is normal" NOT ONCE did I ask him to confirm or deny if it was, I didn't ask him not ONE question about the shoes he had in his hand, I was inspecting them myself. His attitude and voice inclined--kinda for "everyone" to hear (security)- and says "If you're asking me if the pair you have are fake, I can't help you! I can get in trouble for answering things like that!" and clutched the box and tried to continue this little speech. I clarified out loud that I DID NOT and AM NOT asking him ANY questions regarding the shoe. I only asked this man to fetch the shoe and told him I forgot to look at one more detail. So I asked him to open the box again, he hesitated, rolled his eyes and hurriedly presented me the shoe.. to my surprise.. the pair he had, had WORSE gold print of the logo than mine! The "SA" letters were less printed than the rest of the logo and the rest was semi-clean but still spotty on the corners of the word. This style does not have an embossed logo, it's strict print that will eventually wear off. I voiced that to him and thanked him for his service. I guess I wanted them to be as beautiful a condition CL gold lettering always is but I guess these shoes are much different. On my way out I could still hear this man making remarks about me to the security guard near by.. but I walked out with my money anyway. Turns out mine are perfectly fine, the gifting person just didn't think that much into it and sent me his original receipt. I don't purchase at boutiques because THIS is the kind of behavior they're on if you don't feed them the commission they're starving for or LOOK like you wouldn't anyway. They're usually judgmental about your appearance without knowing what your bank account looks like.. I was going to pick up the red Vicky YSL bag just because I LOVE that simple style- but nah.. I won't feed people that act like they don't depend off your purchase commission. I may order online again or.. come in and give another employee a chance to make some money in that mortuary. BUY online! Unless you have a ritual SA you love, don't give them your money if you love the brand.. give it straight to the brand.. let them pay these SA that hourly themselves. read more

I've shopped at so many designer stores across the world, and have never felt more myself than in my experience in this store shopping with him. I truly felt like I was shopping with a friend as opposed to someone trying to sell me something. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but he was so patient and helped answer all of my questions. His no fluff bullsh*t and no judgement attitude is what every designer store needs. Came to this Saint Laurent to get a shirt for the hamptons for Labor Day weekend. I have purchased tee shirts here before. Every time I have come here it's always crowded. The staff is always fine. They ask you if you have anything in mind and then when you tell them no. They let you browse. But they stay close. When you actually buy something there right there to assist you to a dressing room or to the register. Every item in the store is what is in season. They do not have anything from last year. It's all current. There are no discounts. Normally I wear Ralph Lauren shirts $30 a piece. The Saint Laurent shirt I bought was $375. That's just for a tee shirt. Even Burberry is more affordable. At $175 a shirt. But like anything you are paying for the brand. I'll prob be back in here at some point. Visible location from the street. I have been here both looking and buying and have received good service regardless. The store is clean and decorated nicely and is usually not too busy so you can browse at your leisure. I was looking for a particular wallet card holder and the color I wanted was out of stock online. I looked up stores in NY as I was going through the locations to find the wallet I wanted in a particular color. I called the store in NY and someone answered immediately. It was a women but I did not catch her name. Anyways after I gave her the item number she put me on hold to go find it. She sent a picture of it to my phone and I said yes that is the one I was looking for. We ended up loosing each other and she called me back as she had my number. After that she sent an email to my email and I paid via invoice. It was a smooth and easy process. I am happy I will be getting the product I wanted in the color I wanted. I had a great experience. Most important thing first: Customer service at this Saint Laurent is superb. The salespeople may not be the cheeriest in the world, but they ultimately serve the customers' needs. I purchased a Saint Laurent bag at a department store in another state, and the hardware broke several months later (because of an unfortunate accident, not because the hardware is inferior). The department store people basically refused to help me due to "liability issues", but the boutique people helped me every step of the way despite the bag not having been purchased there. Needless to say, I will never purchase Saint Laurent products in a department store again. I will only come to this Saint Laurent boutique because that's how good I think they are. read more
