Had an absolutely memorable meal at Sainte George. The ambiance is beautiful, every detail, the stemware, flatware, furniture, very high end feeling but not "stuffy". The one thing that was annoying was how LOW the green sofas are in comparison to the table. They were a good 5 inches lower than a standard chair, which then made eating uncomfortable as the top of the table was at collarbone. Regardless, the entire staff here was amazing, the hostess "Red" was a delight and our incredible server, Jake, who was so attentive and patient with our large party. I had the French onion soup (best I've ever had) and French Country salad (delicious) followed by the chocolate lava cake for dessert (wanted to love it but it was burnt). We made reservations on open table for 8pm but showed up around 7:15 and they went ahead and sat us at our table outside. Beautiful view of the fort and all the nights-of-lights trolleys going by. Visited opening night in the pouring rain. We didn't expect the calm organization and great food on their first night because well, that's unheard of...until now. Our only regret was that we couldn't enjoy the balcony due to the rain. My other regret is not getting pics of all the delicious food. We started with the Frites a d then we moved on to soups. My husband and I tried the mushroom and our friends tried the French onion. We shared a taste and I must say they were both delicious and nothing'standard' about them. My dish was the chicken. It was very good. I heard no complaints as the others are their meals. We had the cookie and cream dessert and it was very good and capped off our meal nicely. What a breakfast! That is all I can say to describe this wonderful venue. What a gem and what a gem. To begin, I had the lobster corndog, and this was such a great appetizer to begin with. The lobster was fresh and succulent and was well matched to the outer dough of the corndog. After that I had the traditional breakfast with bacon and eggs, and it was literally to die for. Fluffy well-done eggs and bacon that was so thick and tasty and much closer to pork belly. With that great breakfast and able to overlook St. Augustine and the beaches, it was a sight to behold and made for such an outstanding meal. This restaurant has a very small menu. When you have such a small selection, I feel like everything should be fantastic. We ordered the charcuterie board which had a great selection of Gouda and cheddar cheeses, goat cheese, prosciutto and dried cherries. I ordered the berries and pancetta salad which was good. My husband ordered the filet medium, which came rare and with overcooked fries. Who serves fries with steak? They did have Louis Martini wine which is our go-to. Our waiter only showed up a couple times. Our drinks ran out, once food delivered.. definitely needed salt. Had to go get from bar since waiter was nowhere around. My family and I visited St. Augustine for the day, and as a vegetarian browsing menus in person, we took quite a long walk. I, as a principle, refuse to pay $12 for a house salad when it is the only vegetarian option on the menu. However, when we stumbled upon this place, I found multiple options that worked for even the omnivores I call my family members. We went for lunch, so we, obviously, had the lunch menu, and each of our items seemed to please everyone at the table. I had a portobella mushroom sandwich, and I will say it was slightly bland and a little soggy (I wish it had been warm!), but overall it was a decent choice. What puts the review at 4 stars is the service. We had a very attentive waiter named Charles who helped us out this afternoon. Service was quick (granted, we were there around 3pm), and the staff was super friendly. Charles even noticed my mother guessing what cocktail he was making at the bar and took the time and care to explain what he made to her. Overall, we had a great experience! read more

I made reservations for my husband's birthday dinner the first night of our trip to St. Augustine after reading such great reviews. I'd requested outdoor seating, but we were sat at a table inside once we arrived. Although it was nice inside, I think dining outside on the terrace would have really set the ambiance that we were looking for. The server was great, very attentive and polite. We ordered the burrata cheese app, and it was delicious, just too small of a portion. My husband ordered the ahi tuna, which he liked, there just wasn't enough of it. I ordered the miso salmon, and it was good. We shared a wedge salad, and that was delicious. We enjoyed a bottle of recommended Pinot Grigio, and overall it was a good experience. I would like to try it again and dine outside next time for a better experience. read more

I am a CFO of a restaurant company and have been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. That is to say I have had my share of difficult days in the business and am generally more forgiving than most in restaurant experiences. If I could give zero stars, I would. I am giving one star for the opportunity to share how incredibly horrendous this experience was for our family. Two weeks prior, we called the restaurant to make a reservation for four at 8:30 pm (earliest available) for Christmas Eve dinner. Reservation was confirmed via text. We arrived at 8:15pm. I went to find the hostess to check in, as we had never been to this place before. I informed the hostess we had arrived for our 8:30 reservation. She told me she could not seat us until 8:30. I replied I was just checking in. She said go outside, we will call you. I asked how she would do that if she did not know our name. She placed her palm in the air facing me and reiterated that she would call us. Okay. I go back outside with my family and we stand near but not crowding the door. Several other families were crowding the door to the point it was difficult to open. 30 minutes go by and we have not been called. They were calling people with 9pm reservations at that point (by this time, we were conversing with other families outside the restaurant) My husband went to ask about our table, it turns out they lost our reservation and we were not on the list. A situation easily avoided if she had looked for our name when I checked in! The hostess then proceeded to seat us in a crowded unmade table in the corner of the bar. We were seated at 9:10pm. It took the server another 10 minutes to greet us. Ordered wine from the menu. Server had no idea if restaurant had it or not. Why would it be on the menu and the staff doesn't know if it is actually carried? It was not. Ordered a different glass and another 10 minutes later what I received was not what I ordered. I did not say anything, I was quite mad at this point. We were not aware of the modified menu when we made the reservation. Disappointing. Ordered two appetizers, one being the 'cornucopia of bread'. We paid $16 for 1 piece of corn bread, 1 piece of sourdough and three small rounds of pita. Unacceptable. Our meals took another 20 minutes to arrive and were cold (ham) and inedible (prime rib). During our time there, we witnessed quite a few angry folks likely with similar stories to ours. The hostess was yelling at a guest at some point and the manager was screaming up the stairs at other guests. The final insult was hurled when we received the bill. The restaurant management chose to include a 20% gratuity and a 1.5% kitchen appreciation charge on our bill for a party of 4. It is no wonder everything was just crap, servers knew they were getting paid regardless of the level of service and quality of food provided. I will never go back to this restaurant and suggest you find another place to go if you expect to have an enjoyable dining experience. read more

We were contacted less than 24 hours before our reservation notifying us of a 400% price increase with a set menu. I was disturbed by the extreme price gouging when it was too late to book a table elsewhere. Stumbled upon this restaurant as soon as we got into Saint Augustine and realized after a 2 hour drive we needed to eat. With my daughter and need restaurant that has some gluten free options this menu worked for her and the waitress was very helpful in making suggestions. We didn't have a reservation and it was Saturday at 11:30 but got seated immediately upstairs. The restaurant was crowded already so feel lucky we got a seat. There is outside seating upstairs with a view of Castillo de San Marcos Monument which is right across the street. The food was amazing and service was pretty quick. Just wanted something lighter to hold us until dinner we went with some appetizers which served perfectly as lunch because of portion size. I had the lobster corndog and for my daughter the beef sliders on lettuce, both were delicious. First time eating a lobster corndog for me and I will be thinking about that after I am long gone from this Florida vacation. If you like lobster, you gotta try them. Definitely recommending this restaurant and if the weather permits I would sit outside to take in the view. read more

We came to enjoy the rich history of St. Augustine with out of town guests. Moved to Ormond Beach last August and this had been on our list of things to experience in Florida. This restaurant and our waiter Doug had us at hello and recommended the cast iron cornbread and the best seat on the second floor watching all the tourist action. Yummy! All of us enjoyed lunch - me the romaine caesar with grilled shrimp, my hubby the shortrib grilled cheese and incredible tomato soup (whipped ricotta dollop made it!). Highly recommend! read more

I came here with a friend before Christmas to see the Christmas lights on a Wednesday night, i Made a reservation on open table. We were actually one of the last tables of the night. After talking to the waiter we ordered, I had asked which dish was better the scallops or tuna, I'm not sure what he said but I ordered the scallops. my friend and I both ordered a salad to start which was really good, he ordered the chicken for his dinner. When our dishes came I was surprised to see the tuna dish that they brought for me. I told the server that's not what I ordered, but actually decided to just to eat it anyways. and my side of vegetables werent there. I guess the waiter forgot to put it in because after we finished our meals it came. Good thing anyways cause they were inedible, incredibly salty and hard. It's make me sad to see restaurants mess up vegetables. There no apologies or discount offered, or dessert or something. For that nice of restaurant that type of service was inexcusable. The saving grace was the tuna, it was with sliced beets, and raw ahi tuna it was the best tuna I've had ever, and I order it a lot. I would go back just for that dish. It was in the appetizers part of menu, so it was a small portion but with the salad and bread they provided it was a perfect sized dinner. The chicken entree was huge and came with lentils and the Same inedible vegetables. The atmosphere is nice too. read more

I need to leave this review because on Christmas Eve we had an experience here that left an absolutely sour taste in our mouth, and I certainly won't be returning. We had two tables reserved Christmas Eve for a party of 14. For the meal itself -- listen the food is perfectly adequate, although the first steaks they brought out were over cooked to well done and they needed to do them again. The reason for the one star review is that after the meal, I asked the waitress if they had any Courvoisier, an after-dinner cognac. She replied, "We don't, the only cognac we have is Louis the thirteenth." Thinking they were comparable because that, to me, was implied in her response, I said "Okay sure." Courvoisier is anywhere between $10 and $25 per glass at any given restaurant. Louis XIII, as I learned when the bill arrived, is something they charge $500 for per glass. That's 2 ounces of liquid for $500. It was completely unacceptable that they believed I would magically know they had just fraudulently upsold me by a factor of FIFTY TIMES the price of the original drink about which I inquired. When I brought this up with the waitress, she said nothing, and neither did the manager. As a group, we were already spending near $1000 for 14 for Christmas Dinner. At best, this was a sleazy business tactic, at worst it was downright fraud and it added $500 to a bill and they absolutely should have known better. We left what should have been a nice Christmas dinner experience feeling as if we had been conned by this establishment, because we *were* conned by this establishment. I highly recommend avoiding it, if you are in the area, try The Drunken Horse or the Michelin-quality steakhouse up the street. Anywhere else honestly. I know I'm never going back. read more

This restaurant took our New Years Eve reservations at beginning of December. When we arrived we were informed that the owner decided to do a pre-fix menu at last minute and didn't notify those that had already made reservations. needless to say we were very annoyed as this was now $165 pp and we were 3. They offered another pre-fix menu of a salad and entree for $65 pp. At that point we had no where else to go. The service was poor, food fair. Poor customer service and management to do this to existing reservations without informing of last minute change. We will not return. read more

We went here for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. Didn't know of anyone who tried this place before and it was a total Google and Yelp search why we picked this place to celebrate this special occasion. The place was very quaint, good view when seated outside their veranda on the second floor, overlooking the Castillo de San Marcos and the river. We were initially seated outside and we were excited about the view but the excitement quickly faded and we requested to be seated inside due to an unpleasant smell which could be coming from a dumpster (?) and warm air intermittently blowing from somewhere. Was totally impressed by the list of their entrees. We started with their appetizer and tried the cheese charcuterie and it was really good! We went ahead and ordered our food (photos in this review) and all came out really good EXCEPT for my filet mignon, which was a total disappointment! I ordered for medium and the steak came out medium well. This for me was unacceptable. If you paid for a $44 plate, you expect nothing less. I brought this to the attention of our server, who blatantly asked me, "what do you want me to do?" I don't want to ruin the night and be in a bad mood, this is our special day. So I politely said (with a smile) "it's okay, just wanted to let you know" and told her I am not happy about it. In her effort to make things right, they made a 20% discount on the steak, which is about $8.80 off our check. For an upscale dining experience such as this, you would just expect everything to be spot on for the amount of money you are spending. read more
