I found this place on Yelp while trying to find a Chinese restaurant for Lunar New Year that was also near Shadow Puppet Brewing (happened to be their stout night). I wouldn't have noticed this place otherwise since it's kind of tucked away. TBH, I was a little skeptical since they offer both Chinese and Vietnamese food. I'm so glad I went because we've found our new go-to restaurant for Chinese food. I've been disappointed by a lot of the other Chinese restaurants in Livermore. While I like Uncle Yu's style of Chinese food, we usually just go there for special occasions due to the price. The owner here was so warm and friendly. She even suggested we move to another table so we'd have more space for all of the food we ordered. The prices here are also very reasonable. Maybe I caught them on an off day. Maybe I just am used to better pho, or at least pho from the bay where there is a larger Asian community. Ordered a seafood pho to go. Broth was very light. Needed seasoning since the broth and seafood was almost flavorless? Probably prepackaged frozen seafood. I did not finish it. There was a large amount of different seafood choices provided however. the food is really good and the amazing customer service compliments the menu. I have tried this place three times and went the first time, because my aunt swore by it. The owner remembers her returning customers and that's a great feeling when dining at local restaurants. Found Sai's on my quest for decent lunch food at the far side of the moon otherwise known as the foothills of the Altimont. This time around was Sai's and I've sorely been missing some good Asian (not Chinese) food. The place is just off of 580 on First Street tucked away in a developing strip mall area behind Chevron. The food is catered more toward an American palate, the sauce had no hint of fish sauce or chili and was more on the bland side. Yet portions were large and food was very fresh. I decided not to go with the Pho given the wide selection of Chinese dishes on the menu and because the waitress wasn't familiar with the Vietnamese dishes. When I asked for her recommendations, she gave only Chinese options - no Beuno! Instead, I opted for the Bun and got the BBQ Pork with Imperial rolls. For a warm & muggy day it was really refreshing and hit the spot. The BBQ Pork was sliced thin like little ribbons which went well with the noodles and romaine lettuce. Later, Spoke with the owner and she said next time to let her know and she'll add chili and more fish sauce for me, now that's service! Fried rice is not worth the order. Just mush with soy sauce. Salt and pepper pork doesn't have salt, nor pepper. ‍ super plain. Add salt and pepper! Tasted like flour and vegetable oil. This location is absolutely nothing like the Sai's located in the financial district of San Francisco. The owner calls me Ameee ~ HAHAHA with her cooking skills, she can call me anything she wants. This place has such a wide variety of delicious Asian Foods. It's hard to try them all. I do have a few "go to" favorites, however one is the salt and pepper fish. Made with season salt, pepper, jalapeno and green onions ~ Great stuff! Next is her basil chicken. It's made with ground chicken allowing the flavors to seep into the chicken much faster. This dish has a lil kick to it too. The spring rolls are fairly harty in size and filled with yummy goodness (shrimp, bbq beef, chicken or pork slices and it's fixin'. Your choice.). OMG ~ getting myself hungry! We decided to try this restaurant after seeing a post on Nextdoor about business suffering during the shelter in place. Several people vouched for the quality and deliciousness of this restaurant. First of all, don't trust those people, this restaurant isn't suffering because of shelter in place- it's suffering because it is not good. I should have known better when I looked over the menu and it wasn't Vietnamese, it was more like what you would see at a buffet labeled, "Asian..." We tried several dishes, and out of all of them I might order one again. Might. But probably not. I don't want to see any businesses fail, but if things are slow for these folks right now, the down time would be a perfect opportunity to rethink their entire menu. I'm sad it took me so long to find this place. I've eaten here twice now and will come back again soon. The Salt and Pepper Fish is outstanding. We had it both times. The fish pieces are battered with a very well-seasoned batter and perfectly deep fried so that they are cooked through yet still moist. They are then topped with minced jalapeños and cilantro. The serving size is generous to say the least. We've also had the Singapore Rice Noodles--very nicely spiced with a good curry flavor and the Mongolian Beef. The Mongolian Beef was very tender and had a delicious smoky flavor that was unexpected. Service was good, but there weren't many tables filled. I had lived in this neighborhood for years and recently stumbled upon this restaurant when I had a craving for Chinese food. Their menu reflects a good selection of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food. My partner and I recently switched to a pescatarian diet so we ordered a ton of tofu dishes. We ordered the Salt and Pepper Bean Curd (A+++), Fried Crab Cheese Puffs (Very good, just like a crab Rangoon but a different shape), Home Bean Curd (ok but not as good as the other dishes), Crispy Egg Noodles with Tofu and Prawns (the deep fried ramen noodles were amazing and so was the sauce and tofu and prawns), Mixed Vegetable with Tofu & Curry Sauce (by far our favorite dish). A week later we had another craving and ordered the Mixed Vegetable with Tofu & Curry Sauce, Pan Fried Chinese Broccoli (love that they slice up the broccoli so it is much easier to eat), Salt and Pepper Bean Curd, and Fried Crab Cheese Puffs with two orders of white rice. This combination is a keeper and will end up being our go to dishes for this restaurant. If you are not a vegetarian you have to try the Salt and Pepper Squid or the Salt and Pepper Fish or anything that has "Salt and Pepper" in the title because it is just delicious. It is usually deep fried with chopped jalapenos mixed in. We will continue to order from Sai's T Restaurant because the dishes listed above are so good and their prices are reasonable and they give you decent portions. I had hope this would be my default setting for take out asian food, since it offers Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai style cooking, has a cozy setting and a very friendly hostess. However my dreams were dashed after tasting the food. Sai's is on par with all the other 2 and 3 star Chinese American style places in town. Perhaps I should have stuck with the vietnamese style menu items. We ordered hot sour soup, imperial rolls, combo chowmein, king pau chicken and mongolian beef. The cost was $49 and portions were ok, but a bit less than at other places. We had about 1 serving in left overs after our meal ( two of us). The hot sour soup was lean and not overly cornstarched. It had plenty of tofu and egg in it, but not much else. The forward flavor was vinegar. The chowmein was oily and the same brown sauce covered the beef and kung Pau. Veggies were a bit sparse in relation to the meat. Taste is ok, but not worth th ed money. I'm starting to think maybe for ho hum I may as well go to panda. Bottom line is we wont be back. read more

One of the most authentic food place in Livermore with lot of love and simplicity . It's a family owned place which not only has a good food but an amazing customer service . The chef takes care of your palette with so much of variation in the flavors . Not all the places can manage the consistency like Sai's T . It my go to place since last 7 yrs , they were able to deliver the same level even during the pandemic . I really wish they can get some more business coz they are in a shy away complex next to the Spring Town Gas Station .
