Family Pack - 10 fish and chips
    Sarah V.

Came here for the fish & chips and left a happy camper. I've been on the hunt for a F&C place after my beloved go-to Dublin Fish & Chips closed years ago. We ordered the Family Pack - 10 fish & chips. Plus a large side of Cole slaw. We dined in and the food came out quickly. The fish was cooked to perfection - batter was crispy and golden, the fish flavorful and flaky. Not greasy at all. There were no soggy spots bustin through the breading either. I don't understand it but I'm lovin it. There's no shortage of sauces in squeeze bottles - tartar, ranch, cocktail, ketchup. Pro move. Plus malt vinegar. The coleslaw is thinly shaved and delicious - served chilled, not too over sweet or vinegar-y. Just right. The seating area in front was clean and I didn't leave smelling of fried food. The staff was friendly and helpful. Although we arrived 30 minutes before closing, they did not rush us out which is so appreciated. Enjoyed it so much I couldn't stop to take any pics after the food arrived. Can't wait to go again!

Found this by accident and what a treat! Both food and service were great! Will definitely be back!

Omg this place is so cute and friendly! My roommate recommended me to try this place so I went with her! Huge portions of fish and just enough fries and unlimited sauces. The Owner was really nice and hes chinese! The place is small but its really nicely decorated. They bring the food right to your table which is really nice. Not too pricey at all 15 dollars for two fish and chips. I would love to come here more if I didn't live so far away. I went during lunch time on a Friday and there aren't that many seats.

    Scott's #7 item

We each had the Scott's #7 item (one piece of fried fish and fries). Cooked to order, obviously, so it took a few mins. Delicious! The battering on the fish was light and crispy, and wasn't greasy. The fries were the double-fried kind, so they were extra crunchy. The cole slaw we also got was very good. Cute place, but only 6 tables. Friendly service. A must-go to place!

Me and my coworkers were discussing fish and chips so we hopped on Yelp hoping to find a good promising place for delicious fish and chips. Louise's did not disappoint! Our office is located in Pleasanton although we did DoorDash it because they are in Livermore the food still arrived pretty fresh and pretty hot. I got the big combo, well because I'm a big guy, and it had a little bit of everything because I wanted to sample a little bit of everything they had to offer. I also ordered the mushrooms which were chefs kiss!

What an amazing little Fish and Chips place with a slight asian twist (I will come back to why I say that below). Family operated, no fuss, clean, completely affordable place. We got 3 piece fish and chips, two additional fried fish and fried zuchini. This was enough food for 2 adults and one child. They nicely separated portioned our order for three of us and provided extra chips so that it would be enough for all of us. Order comes with Ranch, tartar sauce and ketchup. Ranch and tartar sauce was fresh and provided in clean, squeezable bottles. Not stingy like most businesses where condiments are provided in tiny unreachable plastic cups. None of that here! You can squeeze on as much condiments as you want. Now lets talk about why I said "slight" Asian twist - the game is in the batter. Batter is well seasoned, light, airy, crispy. Much better than traditional californian dense fish and chips batter (Dont get me wrong, I love that too). But with this you really get to taste the fresh fish and not feel too heavy or greasy afterwards. The fish has these light flowery petals on the side which provides extra cruch in every bite. Ingenuity! This is a hybrid between british and asian fish and chips using best of both worlds. This fish wont get soggy, oily or dry out inside even if you take it home and reheat in air fryer or 400 F oven. Chips were well seasoned, not too salty, crispy, in sufficient portion, very very lightly battered. Fellow yelpers - I request you to go and support his local, family owned business...

I seen Louise's one day when I was at the auto parts store next door. I had it in my mind to go one day. Well, what really drove me was the reviews of others when I looked it up on Yelp. This place is a gem! If you enjoy fish n chips this place is what you've been looking for! The best I've had in years! The fish is fresh. The batter is delicious and crunchy at every bite. The service is excellent, friendly business owners. The establishment is extremely clean! We had to the fish n chip prawn combo, and we got chicken strips for one of the kids. Next time I come in I would like to try the coleslaw! Looks like it's made from fresh ingredients. Yum!

Cod fish and chips. Excellent. Hot and fresh. Great price. Enjoyed it so much and will be back.

Louise's Fish & Chips Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Louise's Fish & Chips

Do they use beer in the batter for the fish and chips?

I don't believe they do. They don't advertise beer batter products.

What kind of fish do they use?

Cod. It is so good...don't think you'll be disappointed. And again, the zucchini is amazing!

I have to avoid gluten for medical reasons. The only fish and chips place I've ever found that can accommodate me was one in Maui, but that's a bit far. Is there anywhere near here that offers fish and chips that are gluten-free?

I recommend making a reservation just in case since seating is limited. Some of our favorite bites were the anchovy toast and the seafood chowder. The total bill was over $100 and neither of us were particularly that full, just satiated enough. I don't recommend coming here for a full dinner if you're hungry or have a large party. You can definitely get full, but it will cost you! It's a nice appetizer/happy hour spot as a precursor though. Overall it was a nice experience and we'd stop by again to explore any new menu additions!

You can choose between bar seating or a table--we went with a table. The space is cute, modern, and has a great vibe. One thing I really appreciated is that all the sashimi dishes came pre-seasoned with thoughtful sauces and toppings. We didn't even need soy sauce or ginger--everything was already balanced and flavorful. Oysters (3.5/5) Solid. Fresh and clean, and great value for a dozen. We added "the works" for $3, which came with extra sauces--definitely worth it and added a nice variety of flavors. Uni Toast (4/5) Really good. Served on a crispy ube toast with great presentation. Definitely on the pricier side, but expected for good uni. Worth trying if you're into uni. Tuna Crudo (4.5/5) Really enjoyed this. Flavor was good, but the crispy bread was a highlight for me. Some might think it's too crispy, but I loved the texture. The wagyu juices tied everything together nicely. DIY Handrolls (4/5) Fun concept--comes with mini sheets of seaweed, rice, and hamachi so you can build your own. The fish tasted fresh and high-quality. The only downside is I wish they gave more seaweed. Cured Chirashi Don (4.5/5) The sushi rice was honestly one of the most flavorful I've had--very pronounced vinegar taste (in a good way). The fish was fresh and of high quality. Definitely a standout. Overall, this place leans on the pricier side since it's small plates/tapas style--we ended up ordering around 7-8 dishes to feel full. That said, the flavors are unique and I liked how some of the fish was lightly seared, adding a nice aroma and texture. Service was solid--our server checked in regularly. They also brought out cookies and milk for my birthday, which was a nice touch (not free--$8--but still worth it). Would come back to try more dishes

As our organizer mentioned, they were fully booked that night so do reserve early. Warm earthy tones in the decor made for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and the light jazz ensemble and lovely vocal performances elevated the evening's experience. The ambiance is a strong point. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service. The rest of the staff had hustle. As normal with live music, be prepared to raise your voice and repeat yourself in conversations. Parking is ample, with a short walk, in this Nob Hill Foods shopping center.

We decided to come by on a very hot afternoon for a late lunch around 3 PM. Even at that time, the place was still busy with most of the tables occupied. Fortunately, they have a great cooling system that kept the entire indoor space cold, crisp, and comfortable. The staff is efficient and very friendly, and the overall dining experience was fantastic. Here is what we enjoyed: * Dungeness Crab Meal Bag (New Orleans Style): We ordered the Dungeness crab meal bag and opted for the New Orleans flavor style. The corn, sausage, shrimp, and crab were all remarkably flavorful and tasty. * Steamed Rice Pairing: We got two sides of steamed rice, and pairing the rice with the rich New Orleans spices from the boil bag was an absolute match made in heaven. * Mango Habanero Chicken Wings: We also tried the mango habanero chicken wings, which were cooked to perfection--crispy, spicy, and extremely good. Put on your bibs, get ready to get a little messy, and enjoy some incredible seafood! We definitely recommend Bag O Crab in the Fallon Gateway plaza for a fun family outing, delicious food, and great conversation.

We really enjoy Main St. in Pleasanton and hadn't tried Elia yet so we decided to make a reservation and come here on a Monday evening. This restaurant is gorgeous! We opted to sit outside due to the nice weather. They brought us waters and bread to get started which I appreciated. For drinks, my wife went with the Cab and I chose an old fashioned. Both came out promptly. For appetizer's, keep in mind they're not very large portions and can take a bit to come out. I suggest 1 appetizer will be enough for two people.
