Out of all the pho places I have ventured to this year, Saito & Pho II is my favorite. And it's AFFORDABLE. The chili garlic they have here is the best I've had on the island. It's not too spicy and is packed with flavor. I put it on everything. This location in Wai'anae can be pretty busy on the weekend but it's worth the wait, if there is one. Occasionally I come during the week and it is a little calmer. The inside is big and open and has plenty of seating for large families. The service is always good. The food is always consistent and delicious. The broth is my favorite on the westside. Just the right amount of spices. I haven't tried the meat toppings, maybe I will eventually. The tempura veggies is a new fav of mine. The gyoza is stuffed full, perfectly crispy and well flavored. Their spring rolls are crispy light and delicious. Idk man the pho hasn't been up to par here lately. It's been lacking in flavor. Maybe being more generous w/the side veggies & adding some Chinese parsley & green onions to the soup might help. We decided to eat at Saito & Pho II today. I had the oxtail pho. The broth was flavorful. However the oxtail was a bit tough so that was a disappointment. For the price of $20.00, not bad. My sister had the wafu steak which she enjoyed and my son had the miso butterfish. He loved it and ate it all. We also got the chicken wings for our starter. It comes with a sweet chili sauce which was very much needed. The chicken was fried perfectly though so that was a plus. A little salt and pepper would really help. I would suggest that they season the chicken. As for service, it was just okay. I feel that they could be a little more friendly to their customers. So overall, it wasn't the best but it wasn't bad either. read more

6-2-26, ordered wafu steak well done to go. When i got there it was already bagged and when i went to the beach and opened the bag there was no condiments at all. Plus, my steak was VERY rare. Needless to say i wouldn't eat it with my fingers. I ended up taking it home and cooking it further. So much for outdoor dinner and a sunset. Very very disappointed!!! read more

Visiting Waianae for the weekend, stopped here for dinner on a Sunday night. Most restaurants in Waianae are closed on Sunday, so we found ourselves here. Service was fast and friendly. Food (Pho and Chicken Katsu) were okay. Place is clean and was actually really busy with a steady stream of ppl coming in, mainly for pick-up orders. Saito & Pho II is the closest restaurant to my home, and it's nothing short of amazing! I wish I had more pictures to share because the food is fantastic. My son absolutely loves the teriyaki chicken, while my wife and I specifically go there for the pho--it's delicious! The family atmosphere makes every visit special. This is our family/neighborhood joint and go to for lazy nights we don't want to cook. The food and service are very consistent, which is great. It is a family owned joint with a sister location in Mililani, which is cool. I love their sizzling steak plate with garlic and onions. The cold vermicelli salad is fabulous. The bahn mi is yummy if you get the fish sauce to dip it in (must ask for sauce). My sister always gets the pho and loves it. Their tempura veggies are yummy, as is the calamari. So, this hidden gem tucked away in Waiʻanae which I've eaten at many times before was always good. Haven't been here in a year. My recent experience was just okay and not as I remembered. I ordered Tonkatsu and it's not like I remembered it. The meat had more tendon than meat. It was rubbery and hard. The sashimi (pictured) was stringy AND not cut well. As if the knife wasn't sharpened and all the pieces were still connected. No joke, I lifted the first piece and the rest lifted too. The pieces of romaine lettuce I received with my spring roll order was like the 3rd layer to the inside of the heart. I couldn't even wrap my spring roll, vermicelli noodle and half pickled veggies properly. Then the tempura was overcooked. I had to leave it in the cold tempura sauce to soften it to eat it. And to think I ordered everything, side order so I'd have more of it. I wish I didn't and stuck to a Teishoku/Combo. Couldn't saved some money. I ended up boxing half of it and taking it home. In fact it's still in the fridge. I arrived hungry and left hungry. McDonald's fries and a Coke for the win. And the place was empty... don't think I'll be back for sometime, if even. The place isn't the same as when they first opened. I think new owners. Food taste the same, no difference but the service and place needs to be improved. Found baby roaches inside my miso soup, called them and let them know but they sounded like they really didn't care or fix anything about the situation. I rarely grumble but bugs I cannot stand. First time coming here was a success. I walked in, got greeted, and seated in less than five minutes. I got the menu, looked at it, viola, I ordered their Brisket Pho Large and Fried Spring Roll. It took decent time but still fairly quicker compared to other Vietnamese restaurant I have been. Their large size is smaller than mainland large size, though it was still pretty large for myself. The flavor is there, I loved the pho which will be my go-to pho when I do decide to come back here. The fried spring rolls looked yummy, however, it tasted bland, even the fish sauce did not have the flavor I was looking for. The restaurant is pretty clean, decent, and organized inside, located in Waianae Mall near Tmobile and Bank of Hawaii. This place is recommendable. It's fun to try new restaurants...but it's always super fun to try new and interesting food! I love how talented restaurateurs can reimagine food and mix different cultures and flavors to make 'fusion' cuisine. Isn't life and who we are just a mix and fusion anyway?!? Deep thoughts aside, I wanted to try this restaurant because they have something I have never tried. A pho burrito....yes, a pho burrito. What is a pho burrito? Well imagine a bowl of pho, wrapped up in a tortilla! Inside is brisket, bean sprouts, noodles, culantro/basil, and special sauce. The special sauce is made up of mayonnaise, sriracha, and hoisin. Yes, I know this is a lot to 'wrap' your head around, but it is actually very tasty. At first, I wanted order the burrito, without sriracha and mayo, but then I thought, why not try it first! And I am glad I did. The sauces mixed together well with the ingredients. I don't use sriracha when I eat Vietnamese food, but I understand the appeal. I am not a huge fan of mayonnaise either, but as a 'vehicle' for mixing the sauces with the pho ingredients, it is actually perfect. The burrito was definitely on the spicy side for me, but it was delicious. I will definitely order it again, but without the sriracha. One order of pho burrito comes with two medium sized burritos that are cut in half...so four pieces...enough for lunch or appetizer. We also tried the honey garlic ahi, sashimi, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and miso soup. Everything was just ok...but the sashimi was very fresh. Our least favorite was the tempura. It was on the oily and greasy side. The restaurant is good size, and there are enough tables to social distance. The service was acceptable and there were a decent number of people dining while we were there. I will definitely come back for another pho burrito. I also saw quite a few Japanese dishes that I was interested in, and I also would like to try the pho broth. It was a great experience and I will be back for more! read more

I love Saito's. I've been a regular at their original location (ever since ever) in Ewa when it was just called "Saito's", and it didn't have the Vietnamese food. I'm glad that they are expanding and I was excited to try their Waianae location after a long day at the beach. We ordered the usual Wafu steak, and I got brisket pho. The Wafu steak was delicious as usual although it tasted a little sweeter. The pho was perfect! Very good flavor and everything was fresh. The food also came out very fast. Even the chili garlic sauce for the pho was super fresh and tasty. The service was very good, they always refilled our water and checked on us. They have such a good variety of food I recommend trying them out if you haven't yet! read more

Super easy place to find. It's located in the Waianae shopping center, with loads of parking. This place tends to get pretty busy at night, so I always enjoy coming in during lunch time where it's not too crowded and I can have my space. The service is always great, refilling waters when needed along with giving everything we need before receiving the food. The food is always consistent and amazing. The wait for food is quick, and when you order an appetizer the time till you get your food is always perfect timing. There are plenty of items to chose from on their menu, but I keep to my same three dishes I get every time. They have a bathroom inside the establishment and have plenty of seating. Close to my clinic and it's semi healthy. Pho is good portions great. My fav? The brisket! Another favorite is the lemongrass bahn mi. Filled with yummy chicken or tofu with lots of pickled veggies, cilantro and a aioli stuffed into a French roll! Yum! I love the coffee! So strong it's a great pick me up when I need a boost! Nothing fancy like the other coffee places just great coffee. For those traveling or working in the west side try it.
