I grew up eating here, so I like the flavor of most of the foods they serve, especially the beef brocolli and cake noodle, most times I'm ordering both. However, it is an old Chinese food take out place, sooooo it's not the cleanest looking, I must add. The owners have been the same since they opened I think back in the late 80's or early 90's, friendly n familiar. If u r in Waianae and at the mall, it's an ok place to order some take out. Worst meal of my life. The fried chicken tasted like they used the old oil from the duck to deep fry it in. The chicken was dry and stringy. The coating was not like regular fried chicken, it looked like pancake batter. Also the macaroni salad was sour. like it was a week old. Just bad. Then the fries tasted the same. I'm still burping up the smell. There was some dirty brooms and Dust pan that was covered in disgusting gross grease , hair and God knows what. this whole meal costed 21$ . I just gave the food to a homeless woman at the beach. Hopefully she ate it. but I honestly question if she tossed it. I wouldn't blame her. The service wasn't bad. They were nice. Hui On Fast foods is a GEM in Waianae! I wish Hui On moved to town... It may be to much to ask for. & how did I have the honor to find this place? Here is the story behind it all- I was so lucky to be invited to a few parties that was hosted by a friend's sister, she ordered food from Hui On. & everytime she orders the orange chicken, everyone loves it! This orange chicken is the only dish that is quick to disappear, So I asked her about this place.. & off we travel to Waianae just for the orange chicken! everyone thinks Im crazy traveling to Waianae from town for orange chicken.. but its totally worth it.. but now if I have an outing for Kapolei, I'll ask my hubby to make a stop for orange chicken. or when we stay out in Ko'olina, we will stop by Hui On. The prices are very reasonable, orange chicken is very tender, not to tangy, as to Pandas and other places. It just melts in your mouth goodness & you can't have just one piece! I always get the 3 item combo with all orange chicken and another 3 item combo with the other choices with chow fun. I love their chow fun also!! These 2 plates is enough to feed the fam. Hui On Fast Foods is a small Chinese takeout joint with at least six four seater tables for the customers. The food establishment is located at the Waianae Mall Shopping Center. I was invited by my neighbors to join them for lunch one day. I accepted the lunch invitation. Since it was Chinese takeout...I opted to choose chow mein, beef broccoli, and chicken mushroom for my lunch. The chow mein was on the dry side. The broccoli was overcooked. The mushrooms was just right. I had to use the gravy from the beef broccoli and chicken mushroom for the chow mein. The Chinese restaurant offers Coke product drinks as well as water. Hui On Fast Foods been around many years. Besides the Chinese takeout...the restaurant also has a steamer machine that holds the char siu bao (pork manapua) and shu mai (pork hash). One day I will take Judy's advice and order the orange chicken. Hopefully my next visit to Hui On Fast Foods will be a better one. 121/200 read more

Hui On Fast Food. (2 stars). The lady that works the front counter now (who I assume is the owner's wife) is completely rude and condescending!! I walked in and asked for a take out menu since I always ordered off the menu up until the last time I went there a few months ago... The lady says sarcastically, " You see the menu up on the wall?? That is the only menu we have!!" I said ok so no catering menu or take out menu? She says, "I told you no more! What you want to order?" I said I'm not entirely sure as the menu had much more on it. She says, "If you don't know what you want to order then don't order." What the hell does that mean?? I ended up just getting a plate lunch for the BF but I refuse to eat here anymore. Ever since the video of someone finding a rat at this establishment and the owner's having to downsize their staff this place has gone downhill! It's too bad because the owner/cook is very nice but his wife is a rude woman!! Food here is average but the chicken and string beans I ordered for the BF were super soggy and mushy!! That is why I changed my rating to 2 stars. While the service was horrible it was due to the lack of quality in their food that I decided to downgrade my rating. Side note it was quite obvious that when the owner/cook came out to bring more food the lady immediately became "friendly". So sad to see such fake people!! I also asked for the lady to add an item (egg fu yong) to the plate lunch. She packs it in a big box and then tells me it is $9!!?? I said I just wanted to add the item not order a whole damn box?? Their food can be made fresh, even if you look at the choices and see that they're cold. All you have to do is ask for a fresh choice and they'll make it for you - if you have the time to wait. I've been coming here since i was little and he always hooks it up. my favorite from here is their mahi plate, fried noodles, chow fun, battered shrimp, broccoli, green beans, etc... i love a lot of what they have to offer. Esp their calamari rings (which you have to special order). Prices are affordable and you get a generous serving! Love most of their workers. What the hell happened here,,, this used to be my favorite chinese fast food place,, like all the typical items in fast food chinese places but was always very good tasting. Went today and figured i was in trouble when i saw the chow fun, but being famished i ordered it anyway hoping for the best, along with s/s pork and crispy gau gee. Man the food was disappointing to be kind, the chow fun was weird,,,, kinda like mashed potatoes and with no taste, i ended up eating only a little and throwing the rest out, within 5 minutes of leaving my stomache started doing flip flops, I felt better after burping the alphabet (a~z twice) but the gasious emissions needed serious venting, like head out the window venting, I feel better now after 3 hours,,, think i'll make a smoothie read more

For a fast food style joint this place is really good. They've been around for a long time and for good reason. I don't think there's anything that i've tried that I didn't like. Their portions are decent as are their prices and the dishes are full of flavor. HUGE menu too! There's the inside menu AND all the other item choices that they post up on the windows. My kids like the manapua and pork hash because there's a lot of filling (not mostly dough) and it's really tasty. Their rice cake and tea cookies are good here too. read more

As the only regarding Chinese restaurant in Waianae Mall(since Waianae Chop Suey closed some time ago), the food here is really good, considering it's fast food style. They have your usual menu(beef broccoli,chow funn,char siu,etc..), but they also have other items like new york steak,teri chicken, and oxtail soup. The prices are resonable too, with a 3 item plate costing $8.59. They also make and sell manapua,pork hash, and rice cakes, but you got to go early for these as they sell out rather quickly. The food here is reminiscient of Patty's chinese kitchen(when they were still around), which is a great thing. Great food, great prices, and generous portions. read more

I really hate to post this and debated whether I should or not. Their food is very tasty, I enjoy their sweet sour pork and lemon chicken. However I visited on a Friday evening and after ordering my freshly made plate as well as a plate from the counter choices I noticed baby roaches crawling around. My husband told me to cancel my order but I didn't have the heart to do that! It really sucks that a good tasting restaurant would have these health concern factors. Lately I've been working in Waianae often, so I've been coming here about once a week to eat their Lemon Chicken (and I normally don't eat lemon chicken). This was a random stop for me but I was highly impressed with the quality of the food and the quantity. While the outside and inside of this place is less to be desired I will say that they offer up a lot on the menu from chinese dim sum to plate lunches. And he probably made it but the other guy that looks as young hes got the talents and the skills you guys probably dont order the shrimp with new york steak its so much better then blaze and steaks. The shrimp tastes so good perfected with garlic and butter and the steak tender not dry at all and beyond heaven he makes a chicken salad too if you ask fresh greens and the chicken has taste not like the white chicken you get from other salads and he includes wonton strips in there.
