Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, And Scallop Nigiri

We were greeted with smiles and warmth when we checked in for our reservation. Since we were early, we went to the bar and my wife had a Japanese Whiskey Old Fashioned which she said was excellent. We then were seated and Chamberlain was our waiter and guide through the menu and gave great advice on ordering. We started with a ginger salad which they split for me and my wife. It was excellent. We had the Ora King Crudo, perfect salmon. Then we were in for two treats, the Wagyu Gyoza and the Vegetable Tempura. The Gyoza were maybe the best dumplings I have ever had. We then had the Chirazi Roll and the Dragon Roll and finished with assorted Nigiri. The restaurant is beautiful and has the feel and look of a top restaurant in LA or NewYork. Scenes of Japan play on the wall and there are numerous statues. The restaurant is amazing and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Ambience was delicious, warm and inviting... Unfortunately, that was where it stopped. Don't get me wrong. The food was fine but not crazy good as the price would reflect it should have been. Our ticket with tip was over $150 and I could get equal or better from a local sushi restaurant! Service was friendly, but lacked in continuity as we had to turn down several dishes that were not ours throughout the evening... Almost took a couple because our first dish didn't arrive till almost 45 minutes after we were seated. I definitely don't like giving bad reviews, but I'm trying to keep things legitimate because I want this place to be successful. The servers were great, but need better training and the prices should reflect the portions and the quality!

Omg I'm sad it took me so long to get here!! Everything was amazing, food, ambiance, and service!!! We ordered several different items and everything was absolutely delicious!! Literally no notes on anything we got! I appreciate the server walks your though the entire menu. We got the ginger salad and it was shareable and delicious! Also, got the spicy dragon roll and it was wonderful! One of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. Also, got the wagyu croquettes. The only small complaint was portion. Online they showed people getting more. We got three. We also did the garlic steak skewer and it was amazing!! Perfect for celebrating, date night, dinner with friends.

Unassuming when you walk up but an amazing decor from the moment you walk in! Really quite stunning with an amazing installation from Bali on the inside entrance. Great service, attentive but not overkill. The menu has something for everyone. A must have start is the spicy tuna on rice...it comes with four pieces of the tuna mix on top of the rice. It warm and super delish. Had a tempura lobster roll as well. Solid yum factor. Also these medallions of beef. Really cool place with great food. Something for the entire group! Came here again this weekend and soooo yummy!!!!

I think the place was hyped more than it should've been. Went the week of derby on Winsday. Didn't get there too early, they refused to sit us before our reservation time and the place wasn't packed. The host wasn't all that friendly. The drinks were awesome we had a couple as we sat at the bar waiting to be seated. The ramen was to die for. Broth was nice and rich. Definitely delicious. The art in the bar area was great as well. Lighting made it even more awesome.

Fun sushi spot! Love the atmosphere, cool vibe to the space, lively energy. Servers are great, helpful and attentive, and they seem to enjoy being there, which is nice when trying to make the guests feel welcome. The food and drinks are great. Solid selection of sushi and other dishes, and a range of fun and creative cocktails. Absolutely go with friends and share a few dishes! It's a little pricy for the portions--some sushi places I feel like they load you up, and this is not one, but the quality is very much there and worth the trip.

Date night here was great. Restaurant is decorated throughout, including the bathrooms, per the Japanese theme. Service was prompt but food came out slow. The raw items were very fast but the cooked items got a bit behind. Server was kind. Cocktail list was good, we had one each. The food itself was fantastic. Great flavors and textures. Portion sizes were ok. I loved that they had specials- the Wagyu gyoza and the seabass lettuce wraps- delicious. In the end, great food, a good time but overall a but pricey. Could easily get more food for that price or spend less and get more, at other places. Enjoyed the visit.

Since my last review Sake A Gogo has added a regular nigiri menu, fixing my lone complaint. The vibes are still incredible. The service still obviously works incredibly hard. I still think of Sake A Gogo as more of a "high priced Steakhouse" budget-wise than "a go to sushi place" even with excellent nigiri. Some of that is being spoiled with choice in Louisville. But it is the sushi place closest to my home, so I selfishly want it to succeed, because I love walking in and getting a spot at the bar or the sushi bar for a good meal.

Sake A Gogo is definitely a vibe and a great place to start or end your night. The decor inside is very fitting for the sushi bar theme and our server Leslie was great. Food was excellent and tasty. Nothing we tried was bad. We got the waygu crocket, spicy chicken wings, salmon crudo, hamachi roll, wagyu skewers and prime rib negrima. My only negative is the portion size compared to the price. If you are really hungry you'll end up spending $200+ easily. Like I said, I'd go there to start my night with a roll or two and go to the next spot to eat something a little more substantial. But the quality of food is superb and deserves at least one trip.

This restaurant offers a robust menu of traditional Japanese cuisine, appetizers, sushi rolls, sake, and hand crafted cocktails. I received exceptional customer service and the staff were incrediblely knowledgeable of the menu and provided excellent recommendations! The restaurant's ambiance and decor is absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend making reservations prior to partaking and fully take advantage of the valet parking because parking for the venue can be a little tricky and difficult. Overall great experience, I look forward to returning soon.

Everything was amazing from start to finish. Franklin and the team gave us wonderful service. The oysters were fresh and tasty from someone from the gulf coast I've been looking for amazing oysters and seafood. Nice space to celebrate or just enjoy a nice authentic dinner.

Second post .. third visit since it opened and finally the official menu with pricing is up. Shows that the service is still top notch and very welcoming. And the decor is just still breathtaking The private dining Omakase room is still not ready yet .. hopefully some time in June!

I hate to ask, because I know the answer is 'if you have to ask you can't afford it', but where are the prices?

They are still in the process of tweaking the menu so prices are not printed yet. I have been there twice now. The price range from $12 for the cold apps to $32 for the waygu skewers. The tuna sashimi is around $24 and I think the lobster sushi roll…

Some of their booths are open on both sides where someone can exit without forcing someone to get up to let you out. We were seated right away. Our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. I got the lunch special general tso's chicken bento Box. My meal came with soup, vegetable Rolls, and sushi. The miso soup was hot and flavorful. I also enjoyed the crab sushi. It was flavorful and had some spice. My chicken was a little dry. We were sat and immediately told everything would be 15% off today, and if we spent $50 we would get to draw from a price bucket and $100 would allow us to spin a wheel. The restaurant was clean and despite being packed it wasn't loud. I really appreciate the individual lights at each table, these almost 30 year old eyes need to be able to read the menu. Speaking of menu, this menu is extensive. It took us a while to choose but we settled on chicken hibachi, pork belly Ramen, OMG roll and another sushi roll my partner ordered. As we waited for our food, we noticed how cheerful everyone working at this restaurant was. Laughter and smiles filled the air and I couldn't help but join in. I told my partner I've never had such friendly servers. They worked together re filling our waters and bringing out our food. The sushi was delicious, I'm new to sushi so I don't have much to compare it too, but, my partner said it was the best he had ever had. The ramen broth was packed with flavor but, I wasn't fan of the pork belly (too tough for me). The chicken hibachi was good, maybe not the best I've ever had but 4/5 stars. At the end of our meal, we were able to draw from a price bucket, I won a free appetizer for next time. She gave me a pen to take home and said if you sign up for emails you get 20% off your next meal (sounds pretty good to me) I really enjoyed this dinner experience, the staff were so positive and friendly and the food was pretty tasty. It was really nice receiving 15% off our check. I do reccomend this restaurant for anybody who love sushi!

Two waitresses saw my partner water cup was empty & did not refill til asked, annoying!!! The food is very mediocre & honestly have no idea why they get good business, possibly because where they're located but I personally wouldn't go here again! I enjoy jalapeño poppers so when I saw they had a version of it on their menu I was excited to try, my entree came out before the appetizer & that was quite annoying as well since the food took FOR EVERRRRR!!! We weren't given small plates til we asked because we quite literally were sharing the app. The heart attack was nothing worth getting the flavors were bland & the spicy tuna was a suspicious color, I didn't even finish it. The sushi isn't even fresh. We also ordered veggie fried rice which was quite yummy, but you can't really go wrong with that tbh. We originally wanted a chicken & beef fried rice, but the combo fried rice meant chicken, beef, & shrimp & you weren't able to order just 2 of the meats like huh??? They honestly need better a better system for their waitresses, there were 3 people that tended to us & they all sucked at checking up on us!!!! I am making it a 2 since they were friendly & were very busy & all over the place but the food did not make up for it!! Overall, would sadly not recommend to go for oriental food but the decor of the place seems like it would be a nice sit down restaurant.
