I really enjoyed Sake. Their food was good and the restaurant is spacious. I like how they serve ramen, udon, sushi, and rice dishes--lots of variety. I tried the Sake Special Roll and Tonkoutsu Ramen. They both were great. Broth had good flavor and the sushi was fresh. The chili oil for the ramen has a very good spicy kick. They have a wide range of alcoholic drinks with some fun flavors on the sake side like hint of banana, honeydew, peach, lychee, etc. I want to come back and try the Japanese curry. read more

We had the Plum Sampler, Ika Shoyu, Shishito Pepper, Sunomono Plain salad, Gyoza, Baked Green Mussels , Poke Martini, Yakitori, Tonkotsu, Beef Sukiyaki, Aloha Sushi, Zebra Sushi, Nabeyaki Udon, Teriyaki Salmon, Filet Mignon, Katsu Chicken, Curry Rice, Dragon Roll, Samurai, Caterpillar sushi, Firecracker. I went to Sake for lunch. It was the first time there. I like ramen and spice, so I ordered the Tantanmen. It was excellent! Large portion, couldn't finish it, and took the rest home. We found this place looking for an alternative to the trendy, overpriced, and overrated sushi places we typically go to in Salt Lake City. So happy we did. This place is a gem, with outstanding quality and attention to details, all at a reasonable price. The service was exceptional too. I did not try the ramen, but I strongly recommend the sushi / sashimi, which is possibly the best I have ever had. I have been going to Sake Restaurant for almost two years now. Usually about once a month, and I have never had a disappointing meal or received poor service. When ever I go they make me feel like I am their favorite customer, because they are always so kind and attentive. I really did think for a while that I was their favorite, but soon noticed that they treat all of their customers with the same courtesy and quality service that I always receive. Their sushi and ramen meals are some of the best in the valley. Though the restaurant is in a standard strip mall setting, when you enter, the decor and seating makes you feel you are in a fancy restaurant in the big city; however, you receive the friendliness of a small town diner. Sake is a favorite for our extended family as well. For the past two years my wife and I have taken our kids and grand-kids (20 + people) to Sake Restaurant for our annual Christmas Eve celebration and they really treated the whole family with great service. From an old retired guy like me down to our two year old great grand-daughter. One of the hidden gems in the Sandy, Ut area. Go and enjoy a wonderful meal at Sake Restaurant. Really bad experience when we were there.The food was really good to be honest, but the lady took double of our orders even we asked her so many time that we just want 8 shooters and she still put it down for 16 shooters. This was our first time to dine in this place. Surprisingly we enjoyed all the food that we ordered on that night. When we walked inside the restaurant, the hostess/ server/ maybe a manager too greeted us right away, we also had a chance to meet our favorite sushi chef who used to work for the other sushi restaurant who we didn't see for a long time and now with faith, we met him once again at this place and after our chit chat conversation and placed our order, we'd known that every piece of sushi that made by him were 100% perfection in our opinion. Service was awesome too, the lady who was a hostess/ server/ maybe manager was super friendly and nice. She did very good job by checking us all the time even though she was not our service. :)) She brought out our food, then she cleaned up the empty places and had a friendly conversation with us too. I have now been to Sake Restaurant twice and had an amazing experience both times. The atmosphere inside is beautiful and the sushi they serve is so delicious! My favorite was the Volcano roll because of the seared scallops on top - yum! They have a friendly staff, too. I can't wait to be back soon. They also have a large parking lot right in front, so it is easy to find a spot close to the restaurant. read more

I went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't crowded so we were seated immediately by a really friendly host/waitress. The restaurant itself was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Our orders were taken and the appetizers came out within minutes which was very surprising to me. The mussel shooters came out first and they were absolutely delicious. The spoons were rather large but it was cute. The hamachi carpaccio and takoyaki came out a few minutes later. Both were very tasty. The rolls followed shortly after. I got the daisy roll and was not very impressed. Something felt off about the salmon in this roll (which is why I'm deducting one star from the review), but the salmon on the other roll tasted and felt normal. Overall, the service was exceptional and the food was tasty. I'm planning on coming back to try the udon and ramen! read more

It's pretty close to home, trying it out the first time. Sushi rolls (Tuna) taste good. Udon looks great but I think the soup is on the salty side instead of the sweet side. The the Ramen I had was really good but he noodles are not the type that would soak up the soup. The curry Ramen soup is actually really good. This is a nice little gem right in our neighborhood! We drive by this restaurant a lot, and we finally decided to try it. I was really in the mood for Asian fusion, and my husband just wanted some Ramen. After remembering this place, we decided to give it a try! We got here at 5o'clock on a Thursday and we were the first people in the door. We were seated right away, and had the best service that lasted the rest of the night. I ordered the beef sukiyaki, my husband ordered the tantanmen, we threw In a Marz roll for fun, then we added bottle of sake and it was a party! Best gyoza I've ever had, spicy and crispy, which to me is perfection. The staff is friendly and checked on us periodically through dinner. The restaurant itself is spotless! We loved the ambience of the sushi bar, and the music was spot on. Our meals were hot and full of flavor. My only regret is that we didn't come here sooner! This place is solidly middling on all fronts. Made a reservation but the table wasn't ready when we got to the restaurant so we had to wait and then got a table that was a little small for the group. The waitress was nice though. The jalapeno poppers, gyoza and shishito pepper appetizers were all pretty good. We may have made a mistake not ordering rolls. We saw some rolls at other tables and they looked really good. Most of us ordered ramen, which was just ok. Way too many noodles and the broth was not as flavorful as we are used to. First off the ambiance and service were on par, it's a nice place, and that's where the story kind of ends for me. They have Karatumba saki on the menu u, which happens to be a favorite of mine, and the local sushi restaurant I go to in Los Angeles where I'm from, no longer serves it. I ordered Albacore sashimi, with yellowtail belly nigiri, escolar nigiri, and salmon belly nigiri. My son ordered squid nigiri and octopus nigiri with udon, my wife and father in law ordered sukiyaki. The menu says 8 pieces of sashimi, I only received two pieces of albacore sashimi, and in reality it was good I only received two pieces. First it was seared, which is usually a sign of not being fresh, and of course this albacore was seared, dry, and tasted fishy, and served without ponzu. The rice on the nigiri was cold. Sushi rice should be served at room temperature or warm, and thrown away after 4 hours. Not only was it cold, but it lacked that sweet vinegar flavor sushi rice has. The only good sushi nigiri I had there was the escolar, everything else I had including the spicy spicy tuna hand roll were subpar, and not fresh. The good was the sukiyaki was good, and so was the udon. My son's octopus nigiri was still frozen and he didn't eat it. If you eat sushi, and I don't mean rolls, as a roll is not real sushi, I would tell you to pass, but for the two cooked meals we had I would say it's good to go. Again the saki list is good too, if you've never had karatumba, you should give it a shot. So with a limited sushi menu, I can't give this anymore than three stars. Call me a sushi snob if you want, but when you're accustomed to getting the best, you'll understand what bad sushi is. read more

If you are wondering about trying this place TRY IT. This was probably my favorite sushi and ramen in Utah so far! The wait staff were friendly and very helpful. The green tea was on point as well as the Sake and Orion beer! The veggie Ramen was delicious and the broth was just right. On top of that the appetizer of the day Jalapeño poppers were unbelievably delicious. And of course the sushi was on par. My favorite roll this night was the Samurai! Highly recommend it.
