I don't know what kind of magic they are working behind the scenes, but their cheese pizza is hands-down the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. Whenever I come home to visit, stopping by isn't just an option--it is an absolute requirement. Even though I'm usually only home for about four days at a time, I end up eating there at least twice every single trip. It might sound like a lot, but once you taste it, you completely understand. We were greeted by John the owner he was very friendly and it's a bonus that the owner takes time to talk to new guests. They were four of us. One ordered the Reuben which got great marks. One ordered the fried clams which also got great marks. My son ordered the lobster roll which was lobster salad, not big pieces of fresh lobster but probably from a can. He enjoyed it anyway. I got the surf and turf and the steak tips were overdone and tough. The four shrimp I believe were already breaded frozen not fresh. Our waitress Amanda was very efficient and friendly without buzzing over the table. We also had nachos and stuffed potato skins and the bill for four was only 260. We ordered two take out pizzas last night. Cheese and Linguica. Linguica pizza had No meat that I could see, or taste. The pizza tasted weird because of the cheese used I assume. My husband also didn't like the taste of his cheese pizza. Said it tasted weird. We each ate a slice of our pizza, unfortunately we through the pizzas away. They over seasoned and overloaded breadcrumbs on the seafood trio was horrible. Newbury sauce a bit lemony for my liking but glad I got it to coat the breadcrumbs. Seafood was cooked good. Back for a second time at The Cabin. I didn't realize we'd need a rez for the dining room and no tables were available, so got seated at the bar right away. Colin M was our server/bartender and super attentive, quick-witted--very impressive! My friend had the chicken supreme. My baked haddock prepared with Newburg sauce was delicious. We visited on a Saturday afternoon dinning room wasn't over pack so that was a nice start. We had the appetizer sampler was really good, the chicken tenders were perfect, oh an the cheese pull on the mozzarella stick epic, fried pickles were ok. For entries we split an Old Furnace pizza thats a buffalo chicken with bacon an blue cheese crumble. That is my favorite pizza ever an we had bourbon glazed tips also amazing. Our waitress was so nice an bubbly an absolutely ontop of everything seemed like she knew what we needed before we did lol. I believe her name was Rachel. It's February and freezing, with nothing planned we decided to go out to lunch somewhere not close to home. Found good reviews on The Cabin. It's not ritzy, very casual, pub type food. We have been going to the Cabin for years now and have always left there full. Unfortunately Saturday May 2nd that changed. I ordered the Fisherman's Feast as I have done many times in the past, Always huge, but not this time. I got 2 small clams, 2 shrimp, 5 small scallops and a small piece of fish. For $40 for the plate this was very disappointing and unsatisfying. I left there still hungry. This is a hometown feel, comfort food place that has incredible service. If you have any gluten allergy this is a must stop. The owner personally came over and introduced himself, he's been gluten free for years and takes pride in his craft and care of food prep. Our waitress was friendly too. Food was average-great, but gluten free options and service will have us back soon. Fried seafood heaven! My husband and I were in the area and stopped in for lunch after hearing good things... We sat at the bar and ordered the fried captain's combo with whole belly clams and scallops. The portion size was generous and perfect to split between two people. Everything was fried to perfection in a lovely light batter. It also came with a surprise piece of cornbread which I was not expecting but loved! The Cabin was our choice of venue and rustic home style decor with a senior clientele in tow gave me the feel of home comfort. I have to say The food here is excellent.......if you want to suffer the environment, some of the wait staff are nice but for the most part they treat you like they do not want you there and are burdened by your existence. I've never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant . It is a shame because the food is almost worth the discomfort but after I tried to get lunch there with my family and were treated as how I would treat a nuisance by the sweaty looking host we left and wont be coming back. Stopped into the cabin for dinner this Tuesday or so I thought. My wife and I pulled into the parking lot and thought oh wow! Looks like there's no wait tonight. We stepped into the front door and looked over to the bar which is usually full. Tonight it was completely empty. We picked a couple seats on the corner. This is when we realized why it was empty. We sat there and watched the entire staff just go about their business. Not once did any one of them bring us a menu, ask us if we needed anything or just look our way. One person even walked over began to make a drink and completely ignored us. At this point I'm pissed. I've been frequenting this place the better part of 25 years on and off. I looked over at my wife and said" let's go! " we hopped off our stools at the empty bar after ten minutes and walked out. This is the third bad experience I've had in the cabin in the past two years. I'm done. My advice to management. Get your heads out of the sand. There are far better restaurants in the area and people are starting to realize that bad service is not worth the wait. Good luck. See around or at another establishment. My family visited The Cabin for the first time recently. A party of six that arrived about a half hour before closing. I was already nervous :-) We were seated immediately and a few seconds later a gentleman named John came to our table and explained his philosophy on the importance of "quality gluten free food" John is the owner/ chef of The Cabin and put us all at ease- the last bit of info is that one member of my party of six has Celiacs disease and becomes extremely ill if exposed to gluten. The menu is loaded with gluten free options from cocktails, to appetizers, entrees, and even many desserts! Everyone ordered something different and everything was excellent!! We had seafood,( clam chowder) shrimp and garlic pizza, a Celiacs safe pepperoni , pepper and onion pizza, steak tips, a quesadilla and chicken sandwich. Everything was steaming hot, and arrived all together - nobody had to wait for their dinner. Amanda was great! The main dining room was full and bustling but one would think we were her only table. For dessert we did the gluten free Mississippi Mud ice cream sundae, caramel sundae, and flourless chocolate cake. So good! All in all I'd say due to the fact that we chose to try The Cabin we ended up having a memorable night. We will absolutely be back again soon. Great first impression. Hostess was very nice and our waitress , Raquel was super friendly. Started off with the Buffalo Tenders and they were tasty. I ordered the Steak Tips and they were delicious. Got a salad with them and it was much better than I was expecting from a side salad. Cold lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots...very good except the Italian dressing needed a little bit more zing to it. There were 2( possibly mgmt) up front and didn't offer any water etc... We left after 15 min.
