Whenever I would pass by on ming, I would be curious of visiting this restaurant. The place I ate frequently at would be China Palace on California, it was my parents and I favorite place to eat ever since we moved to bakersfield. After my parents visited Sakura, the next morning they recommended me to try it... They had told me that there food was very fresh and on the weekends it tends to be busy. So gave it a try and the food is quite amazing (: everything taste fresh and the place seems to be kept clean. I'm surprised to know that they serve Horchata which is quite refreshing! I've visited probably 100 buffets in my life so far, and this is the best buffet I've ever been to. Don't believe any of the negative reviews. We were seated immediately, staff was super friendly and drinks were refilled quickly. Place is busy non-stop, lots of people coming and going, from all walks of life and all ages/ethnicities. The selection is huge, something for everyone, the quality is great and fresh, and they have plantains. Yes, plantains. And they're cooked perfectly. I ate an entire plate of them. Hubby loves this place only because he can eat enough for 4 and pay for two he also loves sea food and here there's plenty of it. but from my point of every time I eat I always get sick never fails I thought it was just me but then I realized it's the food. I really love buffets of any type! Although it's all you can eat the food did not give me the wow experience I had hoped for. On my visit to this business I had come along with 3 other good friends and we had to wait for the cashier to finish her conversation with a coworker before we were seated down at a table that tilted, this was no big deal since I usually just ask politely if we can switch to another table. I tried plates from each category of food that they had there and I was not really impressed for the amount I had to pay at the end of the day. ATTENTION ‼i've been coming here for years and the food is amazing but lately there's been homeless right in front of the entrance which makes me as a customer uncomfortable. It's extremely unprofessional for this to be allowed , they stand right out front asking for money literally right out front. I understand once or twice but it's almost every day. do the owners not get tired of this? It's making them look extremely bad. At times homeless end up getting plates to go and actually enter with dirty hands and serving themselves. Once i saw them sitting down eating i understand they have rights too but it does make me very uncomfortable having my family there. At times they stand at the main door opening the door for you honestly i feel so unsafe entering you never know they can just hit you and run away while they open the door for you it's unsafe. Today was my first time eating here, me and my boyfriend decided we'd give it a try; we thought it would be great, since it's a Chinese buffet. Well we get there, get seated, have our drinks served and as we are going to "eat" we notice 90% of the food is either finished or there's bits of left overs. That was the first negative thing I can say. Then to top it off, we don't even get refills. Yeah the waiters pass by millions of times but do not offer to refill. I guess I'd say really bad service. Oh and let's not forget the 10% they add to your bill, if you leave food on the plate. Yea I understand food is expensive now a days but really, how pathetic is that? Basically I would have to say my boyfriend paid about $35 just to eat jello and a cookie because literally that was the only thing we "liked" Not satisfied at all. I used to LOVE this place. You many years they had hot crab legs. All you can eat crab legs for a great price. Now they have stopped having hot crab legs. They have chilled crab legs, but cold crab legs suck!!! Now noplace in Bakersfield has all you can eat hot crab legs anymore. I write this review with great sadness. This USED to be a really good chinese buffet when they started out. Ive gone here for years. But now... blech....They have taken most of the higher quality dishes off the buffet.. ie: anything with shrimp... and replaced it with french fries. garlic bread. pizza lower quality items and foods. I went there today for lunch and told my dining party that this would be the last time I came there. yes Ive said that for about a year now as slowly the food went downhill. But today I finally decided yeah..... Im DONE!..Families crowd the placed cause of its .25 per year policy. So there were quite a few families there with children all under the age of 6.... 3-4 kids each. While mom and dad pig out. the kids are running all over the restaurant, even coming to our table with their greasy fingers from reaching into the buffet trays and eating food with their hands. Mind you the buffets rule is that children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. HA!...spoke to a our server and pointed out kids eating out of the buffet with their hands. She replied "yah pewents get mad so no say anything.... OMG.... They used to have a fabulous shrimp dish on the buffet... garlic shrimp... guess what I asked about that too... I was told it was to expensive for lunch so now on dinner ...that isnt the only dish gone now either...It was always a treat to go there.. but no longer.. Ive had it with the people with 50 kids and the servers wont say a thing.. and the buses that are herded in that take up the whole restaurant.. cause even if you wanted a piece of garlic bread... the tourists off the bus wipe the place clean in a matter of minutes. Went today and our server was amazing! They usually are anyways, but our server this evening, the man with the glasses who served many other tables near window in booths was just beyond amazing. The food is great as always, but this time I'm here to rave about that amazing server we had this evening. What really "wowed me" is how good the server was to my 2 little ones. He brought them crackers for their crab legs without me asking- thank you. He always kept our glasses full and was just amazing with keeping our table clutter less. We've had this server before and what I love about him is... He collects your plate with the empty shells, but replaces them so you have another to put ur empty shells in. The place was busy as always and the fact that he squeezed time to do that for my kids was very nice. I wish I knew his name, because he is an A+++++++++++ server. This place was alright. It had a nice atmosphere, it was clean, and had a great selection of food! The best part of it was that the prices are awesome! We were a group of 5 adults with 2 kids and our bill was only $72 (without tip of course). The service was great as well! This is the worst restaurant I have ever been in! The first thing I saw as I walked up was Christmas decorations in February (bad sign). The entire restaurant was dirty, like no one even tried. I grabbed my kids some pizza, spaghetti, French fries, and chicken. Neither one of my lil ones would eat any of it! They just said,"mommy I don't like it"! I tried so many different things and couldn't handle eating any of it. My husband ate a couple things but wasn't pleased at all. Came in a Monday night and promptly seated. The first thing I noticed was the smell of urine/dirty diaper. Very off putting, but I sucked it up and perused their food selections and was surprised at the selection they had and because it was pretty busy, the food looked fresh. Food was ok, dessert kind of generic. What really bothered me about this place, besides the urine smell, was that near the end of our dinner the busboy kept reaching over to refill napkins and soy sauce, but not once offered to refill the EMPTY drink thay was right in front of him. We moved the drink closer to him, but no acknowledgement of the empty glass. So we finally asked for the refill and he mumbled something and returneded a few minutes later with the refill. Then when we were paying up at the front, the cashier was on her phone and god forbid she stop in the middle of a text so she finished her text before ringing us up. Wanted Chinese food while in Bakersfield and read reviews on several before deciding on Sakura. We made a great decision- the food was really good! Probably the best Chinese buffet we've been to, plus they had a few other items such as pizza and some Mexican food, which I didn't try. Everything tasted fresh and there was a line of people waiting for the place to open- really packed by the time we left. And only $8.00 for lunch. We want to go back when they have crab legs. The food was gross. Took my wife to lunch because I was told it was good. Walked around the buffet. Nothing looked appetizing at all. So I tried a bite of the rice, a tiny price of their baked chicken, and a price of their honey chicken. All the meat was rubbery and tasted horrible. The rice tasted no better and had a texture like it was yesterday's rice. We visited the restaurant at 2pm and I told the manager I refuse to eat there and that I was not going to pay for the 3 bites of food that I spit out. So the manager said I have to pay them for the time I was in the restaurant because I got a plate of food and took it to my table. Unacceptable. Never going there again. And if anyone asks for a recommendation, I'll tell them to stay as far away from Sakura Buffet as humanly possible. Disgusting food, rude staff. No reason to ever step foot in there. read more

This buffet and food are great and so is the price. For about $12 you have a wide variety of selections from crab legs, mussels, chicken wings, sushi, salmon, and a host of other items. I was on my way to Vegas and decided to try this place and the food and service were well worth it. Why drop $35 at a restaurant when you can have your fill for about $14 (with a drink). My family and I always go to this buffet, because we like it a lot. They have good food and its affordable. But this last time My family and I went I found a used band aid in my chow mein, which I reported to the young lady manager and the only thing she did was to take off my plate off the ticket. But the bad thing was that it killed my appetite. (This Happened Recently). Also another thing is that the Water Melon that they recently cut and took out of the back was hot and I told the manager and she gave me the Bitch face and she didn't even do nothing about the water melon. Eating Hot Water Melon is bad for you, because it causes diarrhea. (This Happened on August 1, 2014). read more
