Shrimp & broccoli with steamed rice.

Great restaurant hidden in the 5th St. Arcade. I didn't realize it has been downtown for 10 years now. But, that sounds about right. No matter what I get from their menu, it is constantly good, & I have tried pretty much everything outside the sushi. Today, I tried something new - their shrimp & broccoli. They had to make it fresh since it wasn't on their regular daily set-up. But, it was quick & right. (I requested no carrots.) Highly recommend to anyone who wants a quick bite downtown at lunchtime.

Good food, they're not shady with their portion sizes either. The staff laughs and talks with you and makes sure your order is correct. There is a wait when you order sushi or California rolls. But it's totally worth it. It's always made fresh every day and you can see them cut the avocado, and which I've had bad at other locations but never this one. You can tell they take pride in their food/job. I eat here for lunch maybe 2 times a week and it's always sushi/California roll. It's my go to light lunch.

First of all, the place is beautiful. You will want to stand and stare a minute when you first arrive, from the cherry blossoms overhead to the gorgeous art painted on the walls. We were welcomed immediately and seated quickly. Our waitress was attentive and efficient, again this was no small task with a bit group at a very busy time. She made great recommendations and we started with several appetizers for the table: Crab rangoon Mozzarella stick, Goyza, and crunchy rice with avocado. They were all good and cooked to perfection, but the Crab Rangoon Mozzarella sticks were show stoppers. This is fun fusion at its finest, and everyone agreed we could have just lived on those. We had to put in sushi orders early as there was a bit of a backup with the kitchen, but our server did a great job of keeping us informed about the timing and made all the entrees work out so people getting hot dishes got them at the same time as people who ordered cold dishes. I had the sora roll which is another great fashion dish with a simple tempura shrimp and avocado roll upscaled by adding thin slices of wagyu beef, spicy mayo and dark sweet soy. I loved the combo. My wife had the peking duck and said it was fantastic with a good bit of flavor and a hint of kick, cooked to perfection so it didn't get dry. My son had the mushroom risotto which he said was very flavorful, and carried a bit of asian spiciness. Other people at the table had sushi, the katsu chicken, and the crab fried rice. No one was disappointed! Finally my wife and I split the smoked creme brûlée and all I can say is, you should save room for dessert because this was a fantastic spin on a classic! The only thing I would note is that it's not a quiet restaurant. Do not expect to have a hushed or private conversation here, but even with the big group I could still hear everyone, so it's not like it's ear splitting or anything. Honestly, every part of this experience impressed me and I would love to go back next time I'm in town.

While I felt bad for her I also was starving! I didn't even get an order for food in until an hour plus after I was sat and didn't get the food until an hour after that, it was a big yikes The management did give me a gift card but I honestly would rather they just staffed better. the sushi- really disappointed, especially after all the great reputation. the pricing- quite high, especially for the amount of sushi received. OVERALL I guess I will be back to use my gift card, probably on takeout, for the crab Rangoon mozzarella sticks

Sushi En is pretty casual, so you don't have to worry about being under dressed, which is a nice option for places in this area. In addition, the prices are very reasonable. Given their location, they could easily charge more, so I really appreciate the fact that they don't. My go-to is the California combo, a traditional Cali roll, a spicy Cali roll, plus soup or salad. If I am really hungry, I'll order one California roll plus a Chicken Hibachi Bowl. If you are more adventurous when it comes to your meals, go with the Drunken Tiger roll. Their edamame is also very good. I typically make reservations, but anytime I'm there, people always seem to be walking in and getting seated without a long wait. Sushi En is my favorite spot in this area. You will not be disappointed!

We went ahead and took it, and it was just one big table upstairs. Nothing was setup, so we had the grab plates and menus ourselves on a table next to us. We then proceeded to wait for 20+ with nobody taking our order or getting water. Within that time, another party sat down at the community table, and left without ordering (presumably bc the wait was too long). I ended up going downstairs to ask someone to get our order. While I was waiting for someone, another party also seemed to be looking to be seated and couldn't find the hostess. They ended up getting seated at our community table, and also left before eating. We finally were able to place our orders, I got the salmon poke bowl and tried the calamari, fried soft shell crab, and bulgolgi. The fried soft shell crab was a bit too oily for my taste, the calamari was fine. When I got my poke, they had forgot sauce and I had to downstairs again to ask for it. There was a bit too much lettuce for my taste, and it seems like they reuse a lot of vegetables. For example, the lettuce (which I've never had in poke) is the same lettuce in the house salad, even though it was a the size was hard to eat in my poke. The bulgogi dish had the same raw carrots as a side that was in the house salad as well.. like they couldn't even cook the carrots lol. Towards the end the place cleared out a bit and service was better, but by that time, we were pretty much done with our meal. The lady we were talking to was very sweet and I could tell she was overwhelmed and apologetic towards us, but if you're too busy, I think it would be better to just not accept more tables. Not worth the wait for the food, but I understand why the service the way it was, especially bc they looked understaffed as well.

Where else can you get all-you-can-eat sashimi, sushi rolls, hibachi, and other appetizers for under 30 bucks? I went here for dinner, and for $28.99, I got a whole lot of sashimi, sushi rolls, hibachi scallops, shumai, strawberry ice cream, etc. Everything was delicious. The sashimi tasted great, and the sushi rolls were filling, though thankfully, Kintaro doesn't go too heavy on the rice. I thought the hibachi scallops were better than a lot of non-AYCE hibachi restaurants. They were tender and flavorful, and if I wasn't absolutely stuffed from the sashimi and sushi, I would have gotten another order of scallops. Like always, the service was great, and the staff was friendly. Our server frequently checked up on us and refilled our waters. So glad that you can still get a reasonably priced, delicious, and beyond filling meal here, even during these times of economic uncertainty.

Everything tasted fine, so we just assumed it was a communication issue. So we came back, this time it had a quarter of the menu and the quality took a sharp dive. Pretty amazing since it had been less than a week. Most of the menu was missing, our waiter seemed clueless, nice but clueless. I've never been to a hotpot that didn't have quail eggs all day. All the grill meat came out frozen, the cuts were thin and bad. The green peppers tasted like the blade that cut them, dry and metallic. I don't know that was way too wild a swing in quality we won't be back. We can't win with hotpot in Ohio it seems, for how much hotpot is in the US, I expect better than this. Kpot is still the worst but this last time at Kintaro is up there. Guess I'm looking for another hotpot place. It was clean and organized, the floor is in bad shape in the dining area but other than that it didn't feel dirty or unkempt.
