Had a craving for sushi on a Sunday. So decided to come here since Tokyo Sushi was closed. I ordered the miso soup. It was warm, not hot, but still satisfying. Ordered the gyoza for an appetizer. They came out nice, fresh and crispy on the outsidr, meaty on the inside. Perfect. Ordered the Amy roll, and the I-80 roll, since they were half off today. The rolls were.presented.nicr.on the plates. Just the right amount of rice, meat, and sauce. I've read other reviews of this place and was apprehensive on stopping, but I'm glad we did. My boyfriend ordered the Sakura #2 roll, and was pleased. The service was friendly and prompt. Half price on the tools today, spent $40 on four rolls, two soups, and appetizers! Not a bad deal! we used to eat here 3-5 plus times a week as i was trying to get in clean protein as i was bodybuilding. i would order sashimi saki (salmon) and my wife would get teriyaki chicken and i would wipe off teriyaki and help her eat it. i would also order rolls that were not deep fried like sakura special and more. the ability to provide customers with consistent good food is very much a problem with sakura sushi. i called today once i got home with our food since it's only to go orders. i literally live right off waterman less than 1 mile away. so i was home and eating within minutes of picking my food up. i had previously eaten at sakura sushi twice this week before adding today's third time. we ordered almost $70.00 worth of food. the only item that was edible and actually good was the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura. the teriyaki chicken went right in the garbage as it was horrible. the sashimi saki was very smelly and did not have that good flavor that one expects from just plain salmon. my sakura special smelt like smelly old fish and was definitely not up to the same standards as the previous two times t'just this week alone. i wanted to call before making my review to see what their reaction to me being a loyal customer and noticed that the food tonight was not up to standards. the guy who answered the phone said i talk to much and the saki fresh, he said he doesn't understand what i'm talking about food good. i tried to explain i was a loyal customer and i know what sakura sushi normally tasted like. he did not think my complaint or me be a loyal customer ment anything to him. i will never ever go back to spend any of our hard earned money with sakura sushi. they did not even ask how can we make this right. he just again said saki fresh. also my wife called it in as i left the house. i went to the bank and safeway then walked from the furthest parking spot across from round table pizza. once i got to sakura sushi and paid i then waited 15 plus minutes as they did not start making our order until i paid. i only went to the bank and safeway to kill time as they said 15 minutes. it took me about 17 minutes at bank and safeway so i figured perfect timing once i arrived at sakura sushi. nope not perfect timing. i had my hands/arms full of items so i had to stand and wait more than 15 minutes even though i was told just 5 minutes. i would have given zero stars and i will never go back to sakura sushi. read more

I saw this place on the way to my acupuncture appointment and we decided to have lunch here after. So We ordered the Bento Box lunch combo for $12.95 (weekday price)for 2 items. I picked the salmon teriyaki and mixed tempura. I have never been disappointed in a bento box plate combo. The portion was way too small. The salmon was small and skinny.. The mix tempura included a shrimp (but hardly tasted the shrimp, again because very small sized shrimp but more of the batter), a broccoli, an onion ring, a zucchini and a yam. The yam was still hard!!! That lunch plate was NOT WORTH IT AT ALL! Been to many Japanese restaurants and this is the worst. I should have yelped it first before coming here because while eating I've read a lot of not so good reviews. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS restaurant at all!!! At first I was not going to write a review as disgusted as I was but I think you all need to know why I won't even step foot in that place again. I went for lunch with two of my co-workers. The waitress came to our table right away, asked us what we wanted to drink so we told her. Then she came back with our drinks and immediately took our order. Two of us ordered the "all you can eat" lunch. After ten minutes the waitress came with our orders. We liked everything we ordered. The second time around it took the waitress forever to come ask us what else we wanted to order. My co-workers finally had to go back to work. They were pissed that the waitress was so slow and they didn't get enough food for an "all you can eat". I had more time to waste so I sat there and observed for about 10 minutes. I watched the chefs go out to the side of the restaurant to have a smoke. After about 5 minutes they walked back in the restaurant only to see them not ever wash their hands. They just went back to their posts. When I walked up to the register to pay, I watched the other chef at the sushi bar touching food, talking to a customer. All of a sudden he scratches the back of his ear and then continued to touch the food without washing his hands. Really? I will never step foot in that restaurant again. My stomach felt so queasy after I saw that move. No thanks I went back to work and immediately called my co-worker to let them know what I saw. They just lost 3 customers. read more

I went here maybe six months ago and the food/service was decent but nothing to get excited about. I didn't really want to return here (strong competition) but I was pressed for time and didn't really have a choice (my wife wanted Japanese). My wife and I ordered the all you can eat and although a bit expensive, I felt the service was outstanding (the food was great as well). The owner? kept bringing more food and making recommendations and I actually had to tell her to stop bringing food which is a good problem to have. I expected them to be cheap but they were actually very accommodating and I felt like a valued customer. Fiji in Vacaville remains a strong competitor for them but I really feel like this business stepped up to the plate (pun intended). Fiji has better variety but this place had better customer service which I really value. I will be returning in the future. read more

Visited with my husband for the first time this evening (Sunday). 3 other tables were occupied and about 4 people waiting for a to-go order it seemed. Female server showed us a table and quickly wiped it down with a wet rag. The whole time we sat there, we felt rushed and uncomfortable. We were offered the AYCE menu but not informed there were 1/2 off rolls at that time also. Typically we can only eat 3-4 rolls between the both of us so AYCE isn't really appealing to us. The server came over 3 times asking "you ready?" Relax lady, it's not like you have a packed restaurant. Anyways, we ordered 3 rolls and before we even had a chance to finish she was asking if we were done or if we wanted dessert. Omg!!! Can you see we're still chewing and still have food at the table. Again, relax! Despite being annoyed, we decided to order one more. Quality was not impressive. We've had better. Service: much to be desired. Glad we didn't chose the AYCE because we left with full bellies, paid 1/2 off regular prices and spent about $32. #winning. Even with the half off rolls, we still won't be returning! read more

We just finish eating dinner and while the waiters were great and the food is okay, the older cashier charged us for a specific meal $2 more. When asked she said we had the wrong menu and that the price is higher. Interesting that the menu we looked again also had the lower price. She did not apologize and did not want to use the published meal price. We had to insist on the publish price. Came for the AYCE lunch buffet and the service was eh. I asked if they could make my rolls with less rice and was told they use a machine, so they couldn't. The spicy tuna hand roll and Sakura special was pretty good, the rest not so much. Probably won't be coming back anytime soon, I will need time to forget how subpar they are. Good AYCE dinner sushi buffet for $21.95. Most of the specialty rolls are not on the AYCE menu, but it does have many basic rolls, a handful of deep fried rolls, and a good slection of nigiri. The rice seemed a little too salty for my taste and I thought they used spicy mayo and eel sauce a little too liberally (e.g. on a basic rainbow roll), but all in all I was happy with the meal and would return again. The restaurant has an AYCE option that is reasonably priced, and the sushi ordered generally comes quickly. It is apparently prepared in advance, most likely on the same day. We finally tried Sakura Sushi last Sunday and loved it. I'm only giving 4 stars because they are a little more on the expensive side. But either way good food is always worth the buy. We were literally the only two cutomers in the building, and it took 10 min before someone dropped off the miso and asked if we were ready to order. My husband and I would come at least once a month for dinner. The all you can eat sushi menu has great choices and we were never disappointed by the quality and taste until this last time we watched the sushi chef walk outside for a cigarette break. While smoking, he picked up some garbage and took it over to the dumpster, finished his cigarette and walked right back behind the counter and continued making sushi. Lived nearby for several months and never tried Kazan but after Sakura took up residence, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a shot. The table we had upon seating was sticky-when I asked if they could wipe it down they grabbed a towel that was covered in grime and used that to, well, make it more sticky. We started off with hot tea, $1 each not complimentary, and it literally tasted like hot water that had no time to steep. I heard the woman who was helping us being complained about by a nearby table for bringing out the incorrect sushi order. She got all of our sushi orders correct, but had to double check after appearing to write down the order. I noticed a couple of workers that really didn't appear to do anything but stand around --they certainly couple speak English. One family asked the girl for kid-chopsticks and she stared blankly until another worker came over to answer the question. This same girl used the questionable grimey-towel to wipe off the tops of soy sauce dispensers, without rinsing it first. As for the meal, I got the chicken teriyaki combo and the boyfriend got the sushi all-you-can-eat. I tried a couple of his Philadelphia and California rolls, while he ordered many others besides those. Very pretty presentation but the salmon in them did not taste right and felt rather warm to the touch. Long story short we both became ill that evening, which I suspect was from food poisoning/bad fish. Just to be safe I threw out my chicken teriyaki leftovers in case the chicken was the culprit. I'm sorry for being a negative Nancy and I've never had the displeasure of writing such a bad review, but I felt like my fellow Yelpians deserved a warning. 50% off means nothing when it still has a high price of $13.95 for the sushi and once it's out of you into the toilet, well that's a $30 meal completely wasted! read more

I don't recommend coming here for all you can eat sushi. Waiters will harrass you if you don't finish you're food. Also I ordered 3 specific rolls and they kept bringing back the wrong rolls. I have mixed feelings about this place. I will start with the good: The service was very good. The servers were quick and checked on me frequently. The food came within a few minutes of ordering. The place was clean and comfortable. The location is good, right off i-80, somewhat near the mall and right across Safeway. The bathroom was clean as well. The food tasted good. Maybe not the best sushi ever (too much salty sauce) but the fish tasted fresh and to me that is the most important aspect of sushi. Overall, for what I paid I got a good meal. Therefore I think they deserve a chance and I am giving them 4 stars. Here is what I didn't like so much: First of all, they advertise with "Now- all you can eat lunch special $13.95". However, as it turns out on weekends they charge $14.95. Not a large difference and fair enough for being a weekend but the correct price should have been stated somewhere or mentioned when I ordered. The "all you can eat" menu has no price noted on it at all and all signs I could see said $13.95 on them. I hope they correct this because right now it is false advertising and a bait and switch and no one likes that. Next issue, when I was ready to order I was told that "all you can eat" means I can order 5 items from the special "all you can eat" menu. That, again, is false advertising and a bait and switch. For me that was enough food but others might want more. Really I understand that they can't make any money if everybody orders a lot but it is wrong to call it all you can eat and then limit it. The rolls I received actually turned out to be half rolls with 4 pieces each, not like the pictures on yelp. There was a couple sitting next to me that also had the "all you can eat lunch special" and for some reason they EACH got full sized rolls. They seemed to know the waiter so they got served much better. Somehow I didn't appreciate being served less for the same price. Again, overall I got a good meal for under 20 Dollars. If you like sushi you should check this place out and decide for yourself. I am just hesitant to recommend this place due to their questionable marketing strategy. I am still giving them 4 stars because I am hopeful that they will correct their advertising and just be honest about what they are offering and consistent with how they treat their customers. read more

Very disgusting restaurant! Poor customer service and spoiled food. I ordered the Sakura #2 roll and the tempura roll took one bite of the Sakura roll and requested they take it back. It taste like the fish was rotten and had a weird smell. The hosts with the wild hair approached my table and asked me "what do you want to do"? I said I will order another tempura roll she said "ok" now when the bill came I seen I was still being charged for the Sakura I asked why and she said "cause you ordered it" I said "it was nasty tho" and she said "oh well" at this point you can only imagine how fucked up she had me so I calmly said "ok" then she continued to say "I didn't order it you did. Everyone else likes it" then I replied "Well have everyone else pay for it then" with that being said I paid for my food and calmly walked out. this restaurant is a piss poor example of the lack of food choices in this city. I was curious as to why the name of this restaurant changed names so quickly. That question was answered very soon after my arrival. I was sat and ignored for 10 minutes. On a positive note the food came very quickly. Upon finishing my meal I had to flag someone down to get my check after three people walked past me and didn't even acknowledge me. I followed the lady to the cashier stand rather than wait at my table, paid and left I will not return. I hope there is zero star. This place is not too far from my place so I decide to give it a try. I walked in there to grab Togo. It was my first time and it will be my last time. I was waiting for the cashier (old man) to finish with the customer in front of me. Once he finish with the guy, I still waiting on line. He was doing something with computer. He asked me if I want to order Togo. I said Yes. He said there is the menu, he pointed to the menu. He asked if I want to big menu. I also said yes. He just pointed to the big menu right beside the cashier's counter. He just wanted me to grab it. The whole time he was looking at the computer. He did not pay attention to me at all. I wish I could give this restaurant 0 stars, today they hosted "saviproductions" event (sushi chef battle) which is a total scam, they are doing false advertisement that that there will be 4 hours of food, in fact you will get 8 pieces of sushi for the whole evening and it will cost you 40 dollars, let alone the quality of the sushi - like in a cheap chinese buffet and the evening will be concluded with a piece of Costco cake.
