There were empty tables when we were quoted a 25-minute wait. After 30 minutes I walked over to the hostess (she was sitting at the bar folding napkins) and pointed out that we had been waiting longer than she said and asked if we could be seated at one of the empty tables. She rolled her eyes, huffed and moved to the hostess stand. She grabbed our menus and led us to the table without saying a word. Once we were seated the experience got better. It's probably about time I reviewed this place - we come here almost once a week for happy hour, mostly on Thursdays. I love the spicy shrimp, salmon, tuna, and crab rolls. Husband likes the chicken and shrimp hibachi. Super affordable happy hour if you always have a sushi craving like I do. Our toddler also likes sushi and she's been eating here since she was a baby. She likes the sweet potato tempura roll. It's nice to have super affordable rolls so you don't worry about it when a piece lands on the floor. Service is good and the atmosphere is comfortable. Sake is cheap and honestly tastes like it...but it is what it is! We get it every time anyway. Give this place a shot for a casual dinner, it's a reliable option. read more

She immediately helps him with his to go order and then continues on with her FaceTime call flexing and squatting in front of her phone camera, obviously flirting with some guy. Absolute worst customer service. Walked in on a Wednesday at 2:10. The lady says they are closed. I find that very hard to believe when the door says 3pm. Online says 3pm. She says we are full. Everytime I have walked in with myself and my child we just so happened to get turned away. Before the reason was because I was not getting 2 entrees aka spending enough money because we shared a plate. Now this. I am over this place. I have tried to give them multiple chances bc the food is pretty decent compared to other places in the other area but this is absurd. On the dine in, not hibachi side. We had one check. The absentee waitress who we continuously had to flag down to get basic things like silver wear. We had to put our used dishes on the table beside us, we had to get our own silver wear cause she never did. Waitress Had the audacity to say the $20 was because 90% of the time "you people no tip" who is you people? Cause I tip and I tip well, unless the service is crap. Then you get what you earned. Then the story was we have to tip the server and the cook, not my problem. But there isn't a auto gratuity policy listed anywhere. Not on menu no where. Then when I tell her we are not paying a $20 tip when there is not any policy stating such; documenting that they have a auto-gratuity policy. The waitress says the manager says he will take it off if we tip. Baby u got the right one. Because you ARE going to take it off and I will tip for the service we got . And I did. But how you going to do that with the only black table on that side of the restaurant. Do not spend your money here. If they tried this tonight they have probably done this before and bn doing it to anyone who they think won't tip (meaning POC)! Who leaves a $20 tip on less than $150 after taxes.... After terrible service. If you want me to tip well, give me the same service you gave the non-POC that got all your attention tonight, who u bent over backwards for. Our soup was spicy hot, like they put wasabi in it. Then The waitress literally brought our appetizers out with our food and everything was cold. So no I'm not tipping you $20. If you are a fan of hibachi and theatrics, then you probably understand that a Japanese steakhouse is one of the best places to go on your birthday. Luckily, a group of friends and I went to Sakura for our birthday celebrations and had an absolute BLAST. There were eight of us, and luckily that was exactly how many people could fit at our table. I was a little hesitant at first that our chef would not be enthusiastic, but I'd like to think that my school-girl-excited enthusiasm really brought out the entertainer in him. I got sake squirted in my mouth, the flames were giant, and the volcano was wicked smoking. I clapped each time, even though I've seen the show dozens of times. Our chef was right on and our food was prepared just right. Prices were pretty standard for the fare and I thought the quality of the food was pretty good. I ordered the shrimp hibachi and my partner ordered the chicken and steak. Both were very good. The only disappointing thing we got was a philadephia roll as an appetizer, which was just all right. The portions of food were quite large, especially the veggies and rice. I had quite a lot of leftovers. Service was good, but our waitress did get a little flustered with the drink orders. And FYI, if you have a larger party, they will not seat you until the entire party is there. Luckily, you can always wait at the bar and drink a bottle of sake or three. The gyoza was the only good food item I had here. The hibachi was very bland. I strongly believe good hibachi doesn't need extra sauce. As soon as I tasted the rice I knew I would have to use a lot of soy sauce if I wanted any flavor. As I've mentioned in another review, I had never seen hibachi chefs push the rice into a large rectangle and divide it until I came to Greenville. This just burns the rice on the bottom while they portion it out. Every good hibachi place I've had just eyeballs it. Not worth the money at all. I won't be coming back. Decided to hit there for a early Sat dinner and had barely a wait. We sat at the hibachi table with 2 other groups. The early bird special was very affordable with the choice of 2 (steak, shrimp, or chicken) so we each ordered that. First they brought the soup which was light... as expected. Nothing special, nothing bad. The salad was next which was basically a bowl of nasty iceberg lettuce, a few carrots, and then a glob of dressing. The dressing was good but the salad tasted funky. I took only 1 bite. Then the chef came to warm up the grill. One of the groups at our table were ignoring him when he was simply trying to confirm their order, let alone when he was tossing eggs around. Don't think he liked it too much. The food was cooked well but the chef took a hint from the ignoring and was pretty quiet the whole time. Was certainly not what I was expecting. I don't blame him for ignoring the one group but the other two were responsive and he should have carried on with us. My biggest complaint was the noise/crowd factor. The hibachi tables are squeezed into small rooms, separated by a curtain. But 4 tables in one tiny room was way too much to handle. Picked this joint for a friends birthday. When we arrived we were greeted with a 20 minute wait when tables were open. We then were served beverages but had to wait for a chef for around 40 minutes. One of the chefs at the other table was being a stick in the mud and party pooper due to his sinical stares at us. I am giving four stars more for the service than the food. This is a very friendly place that accomodated 15 of us with ease. The service was organized, fast and friendly. The hibachi chefs were funny and entertaining. Everyone enjoyed the sushi appetizers and had no complaints. The hibachi entrees, everything from steak to shrimp to chicken, although cooked in front of us and kept warm and juicy appearing, was actually a bit overcooked and somewhat dry. This is likely due to the very hot flat top and the fact that different items take longer to cook than others, but still worth $12.99 for a two item entree when you arrive before 6 p.m. Overall, a very nice evening and I would try again. read more

Unhappy with most recent visit. Host and manager wouldn't seat us until after happy hour ended although there was empty seating available. Server took a long time to come over for drink order then disappeared for over 15 minutes before coming back with drinks Wife and I ordered hibachi and she also ordered a sushi roll which never appeared even though others at the table got their sushi. When asking the server about it, he replied "yeah the chef is really busy" but both sushi chefs could be seen leaning and talking to each other. When going out for my friends birthday we made reservations for 730. Arriving at 720 like any good group would, was when it all started. We sat there until 8 o'clock which is when we got seated down at the table. Then thirty minutes later we were asked what we wanted to drink and eat. You know when you're reading a book and half way through you're thinking "I could finish this book because I don't have anything else to read, or I would be ok with no finishing it and finding something different. " That's how Sakura is. Everything about this place is middle of the road. Let me start off by saying that this was the first time that my fiancé and I have ever been there. We bought a Groupon for it and decided to use it as our date night. When we arrived, there was no one at the podium. When the hostess approached, she simply said "2". We were seated in the front room and were given some menus. We chatted for awhile and then our server came to get our drink orders. Both ladies were just kind of there. Neither were unfriendly, but neither were friendly. It was like they could go either way, it didn't matter to them if we were there or not. We ordered Sushi and Hibachi and split both. Again, the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It's definitely nothing to write to Momma about. There's definitely better Sushi and Hibachi within minutes. Side note - There was a little girl playing behind the bar and running back and forth in between the bar and the kitchen. read more

Chef was entertaining and very engaged with each of us that sat around the hibachi grill. The food was excellent and definitely five star. The disappointing thing about our experience was that our drinks were always empty we could not get the waiter to keep them refilled , the salad and sushi came out after the hibachi was complete,and there were only 15-20 patrons in the restaurant at the time. I will give it another try because the food was so good, just hoping the wait staff is more attentive next time. read more

The lunch menu was just what we wanted. It's not as much money as the dinner, but not as much food either. However, plenty of food to say the least. The price was great. The taste and freshness was great as well. There's only a few problems. It was kinda cold in the dinning area for some reason. We let the cook know but he didn't seem to care. The cook was really kinda lack luster in that he was just going through the motions and really not putting effort into the show. He mumbled with the jokes and such and seemed to be just on automatic. The service wasn't anything to bragg about too. We had to ask for more pink sause and had bowls in the way while we ate our main course. These are the only things preventing a 5th star.
