I've been coming to Sakura since they first opened in 2008, and they have consistently served, in my opinion, the most delicious and highest quality sushi (and other Japanese food) in the area. Every dish has deep umami flavor and the vegetables are always so fresh. They have many masterfully created sushi rolls, and a great selection of appetizers, too. I've been going to this place for at least 10 years off and on since it opened and it is by far the best sushi restaurant in the greater Binghamton area. Nothing compares to the quality and service of what you get here. Certain other restaurants might have more trendy Asian fusion items on the menu, but if you want Japanese cuisine as it's supposed to be (more traditional style) this place is a knockout. Came to Sakura around 4 o'clock on a Friday for two sushi rolls. I called in an order for 2 rolls; salmon cucumber with brown rice and tuna avocado with brown rice. I was told my order would be ready in 25 minutes and when I showed up the food was ready. The restaurant was completely empty, which can be expected at an odd eating hour like this. The guy who checked me out was very nice, the 2 rolls came to $18 and I thought that was pretty expensive. Not sure if they had lunch deals that I missed because of what time it was, but there are other sushi places in the Binghamton area that have 3 rolls for $9 lunch specials so I was a little surprised having to pay as much as I did. I am from Long Island and I pay less for rolls down there and everything is expensive down there. Anyways, the rolls were brown rice but more so purple rice, which I've seen before. It makes me wonder if the rice is actually brown rice or if it's maybe food coloring. Regardless, the rolls were pretty big and tasted fresh. The fish to rice ratio was a little off, more rice than fish but nevertheless fresh and tasty. The two rolls really filled me up, which I was happy about. I'd come back here but would be curious if they offer lunch specials that come with a soup or salad. If you're looking for fresh and don't mind paying a bit more money I'd recommend coming here. read more

This is our favorite sushi place in the Binghamton area by a mile. It features super fresh fish, perfectly made rolls, friendly staff that remember us, and a relaxed atmosphere. Seriously, if you've tried Ebishura near BU and dislike how loud and crowded it is, go to Sakura. The prices are reflective of the fact that this is a high quality sushi restaurant, but when you compare the per roll price versus Ebishura it's about the same. The quality, however, is much higher. Underrated bonus items - their salad dressing is freakishly good, like a soy/ginger dynamic that works perfectly. Also, they stock Asahi Super Dry Beer, and not many places do. Pairs perfectly with the sushi. They participate in restaurant week, so that's a nice opportunity to try Sakura at a bit of a discount. read more

The seaweed salad, vegetable tempura, and the Kara-age chicken were all delicious! We had the sushi dinner for 2, which was very well executed and tasty. The waitress was expertly attentive and kind. I live in the Buffalo, NY area. We have some very good Sushi establishments. I do have to agree this might be the top 2 as far as sushi places in the Binghamton, NY area. We (the three of us) were a little thrown off by the lack of customers at dinner time. When we arrived (at about 6pm) during the week, we were the only customers in the place. The server was very nice, and very attentive, almost overly attentive. We found they were very helpful and open for suggestions and the sushi chef was more than willing to create things that weren't on the menu which was awesome. I very much so enjoyed the variety of sushi from Raw to deep fried they have something for everyone. As other say every dinner comes with salad and soup. Take it from a guy who grew up eating sushi from all sorts of places both in America and in Asia: Sakura's Sushi is the best in Binghamton. By freshness and taste, it easily beats Kampai, Fuji-San, Sake-Tumi, Man Nam, and Tokyo Sushi Buffet. I've tried the lobster roll, the endicott roll, the japa-wrapa, all the regular rolls, the chicken udon, and ordered boats (huge platter of sushi and sashimi meant to be shared for the table). I've enjoyed most of them as they reminded me of New York City. The chicken udon is the only dish that didn't quite satisfy my palate. As Dan M. mentioned, if Sakura were in New York City or any place with a heavy multicultural community, it would just blend right in and wouldn't be anything special. However, that's not the case in Binghamton. The neighborhood's riddled with restaurants that claim to be authentic sushi when it's really not. Sakura is tucked away in a complex, between a Chinese fast food restaurant and a liquor store. It doesn't even say "Sakura" on the storefront but rather just plain "Sushi." EASILY the best sushi in the southern tier. It is at a great price and always so fresh. I used to think Wegmans and Kampaii were the top choices in the area, but now when i get sushi from those places, I feel the quality does not compare. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel at home. I attended a birthday party/banquet there and they did an amazing job with both the presentation and quality of food and service. Sakura is a small Japanese restaurant adjacent to the Price Chopper in Endicott. Most patrons seem to go for the sushi, but they do have other traditional Japanese noodle dishes, soups, and appetizers. Do not expect much by way of atmosphere at Sakura, it's a bare-bones kind of place. Service is always quick (there usually isn't anyone there). I have always found that they've given us free soup (miso) and salad with a sushi order, and the sushi is reasonably priced, so Sakura is a pretty good value as sushi places go. As for the sushi itself, it's not particularly amazing or well-rolled but it's more than adequate, tasty, and typically well-presented. Order the Volcano Roll and see what I mean! In a larger city, Sakura would blend into the scenery, but for the Triple Cities, it fills the need for a quaint, mid-priced sushi place. read more

The service here is excellent. Very nice staff, efficient and accurate. I ordered a sushi/sashimi lunch special. It came with a salad with sesame dressing and miso soup. It came out to $17 and change which is a little expensive for a lunch for 1, but I have to say it was well worth every penny. They give you a perfect amount of sushi and sashimi along with a California roll, I definitely felt extremely full afterwards. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. The woman on the phone and the one that got me my order (May have been the same lady) was so sweet and courteous. I recommend this place for good sushi and service hands down! To start, let me clarify that this restaurant is in Endicott, not Binghamton. I came here for lunch as I work nearby. Its a small place, hard to notice and very generic on the outside, but clean, cozy and Asian themed on the inside. Had to try it because it's pretty much the only actual sushi restaurant in Endicott (excluding Chinese buffets). Service was great. The woman was very friendly, sat me down promptly, and had my order out in about 5 minutes. They serve Asian beer which is definitely unique. I had the volcano roll, which was good, although it was only a little colder than room temperature. Perhaps it's supposed to be served that way. The roll consisted of about 8 pieces, and as an American who's used to oversized proportions, seemed a bit small. All-in-all, the place was definitely worth it as the prices were solid (for sushi, anyway). I will most definitely be back. read more

I was told Sakura was the best sushi in Binghamton and I must agree, it was very tasty, well presented, very fresh and the service was great. We ordered the combo deluxe for 2 as an appetizer for the group. A huge boat came out with tons of sushit & rolls - green dragon, spicy tuna, rainbow & california, in addition there was loads of sushi and sashimii as well. I've been eating here for about 2 years and Sukura is always consistant in freshness, prompt service and prices. I've tried almost everything on the menu but I keep going back for the Volcano Rolls, miso soup (best in town) and udon dishes. I enjoy their fresh ingredients are and how generous they are when giving free samples to try different things on the menu (that's rare!) It's truly a hidden gem. Some of my friends from Binghamton University recommended Sakura, and I totally satisfied its taste. Fishes and Sushi are very fresh, and the store is very good hygiene.
