While in the area and on the hunt for Sushi today, I came across Lover's Sushi & Hibachi and stopped in for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in it was fairly dimly lit and silent as I was to be the only diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was very friendly and got me seated with a menu at the sushi bar immediately. The menu was fairly baseline with a few signature specialty dishes but all consisting of the same ingredients. I order a Hot tea, the Sashimi lunch special which came with a Miso Soup & side of Rice as well as the Treasure Island appetizer to sample some of their more unique dishes. The Miso Soup was both warm and flavorful. The Treasure Island app was an interesting blend of sweet savory and fat flavors with fresh Mango, Avocado, Tobiko, Ponzu and diced fish's but it was unfortunately all just overtaken by the heavy Mayo and tempura flakes. The Sashimi lunch was presented fairly but the quality of the fish was sub par to say. All of the previous frozen variety and using Izumidai "tilapia" in place of Red Snapper. Overall it certainly was not the greatest Sushi dining experience for me personally and I would pass on the next opportunity to visit. That being said there seems to be very limited Sushi dining opinion this area and it was fairly reasonably priced 2 course lunch. 3.9/10 Very friendly staff, lower quality ingredients. read more

We walked through the door to the cleanest so nicely decorated restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The waitress was extremely professional and the best customer service that I have had in a long time. I had the shrimp tempura box that came with a fresh flavorful salad. California roll, tempura vegetables and fried rice. My nephew had the steak hibachi with fried rice and noodles. I've been here several times with my family. The service is very courteous and the sushi is always fresh. We usually get the Poke bowl and spicy tuna/salmon sushi rolls. We also have gotten the Love Boat, where you get 10 pieces of sushi, 18 pieces of sashimi, and a special roll on a huge wooden boat. It's quite the experience. They also serve wine, beer, and sake. I'm going to start from the beginning. I placed an order for takeout at 7:11pm, they told me 40 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant 40 minutes later(7:51pm) and went to pay for the food. The first issue I faced was that the bill I was paying had prices that did not match the takeout menu that was right in front of me. Meaning that their own takeout menu that they give to customers has inaccurate prices. When I mentioned this to the staff member helping me she told me that I could take pictures of the one menu she had with accurate prices, and that the takeout menu was for reference. I asked her if I could find the accurate prices online- to which she said no. I did not even know this was legal I was so caught off guard and disappointed- while I understand prices are going up for everyone- having accurate prices on your menu is crucial in my opinion. Anyways back to the story, I paid the bill and she told me the food wasn't quite ready yet. Okay fine, I sat down and waited. I waited for about 25 minutes before I finally received the food I ordered. Leaving the restaurant with my food at 8:16. I'm sure you can understand my frustration, it took over an hour for my takeout that I ended up having to pay more than I expected for! I mean the sushi was delicious of course but I will not be going back. If you are ordering from here, or going for dine in. A top favorite place in the area. Wonderful people, small restaurant - be prepared for a wait. I order the poke often - by far best quality, presentation and quantity for the price you can find around the greater Bing area. The ramen is delicious and hits the spot. I've had various sushi items and enjoyed everything I've tried, plus have to reiterate again how top tier the quality and presentation are. The onion soup is cravable. I get it every time. The owner is seriously such a gem. So kind and thoughtful and they both work so hard as it is obviously a family owned operation and small at that. I prefer to support small businesses over larger chains any day and with that, also use common sense that it's a lot of work and requires patience and common kindness for the occasional mistake. I came back for another dinner at Lover's. I'm staying in the Quality Inn near Binghamton University while I'm here for work for the next few weeks. Attached to the Hotel that I stay in, is a Japanese Sushi Restaurant named "Fuji San". I work 12-14 hours a day, sometimes more, 6 days a week, so something as close as Fuji San would be very convienent for me, but I still choose to drive to Endicott for dinner at Lover's instead. It's not just because the food is great, or the prompt service, i drive out of my way because they make me feel like my business is appreciated. It's a good feeling. I leave there happy.
