California Roll (left) spicy tuna roll (right)

I've been here a bunch of times prior to them becoming an AYCE. We had reservations for the AYCE dinner at 6pm on a Monday. Seemed like the perfect time, the restaurant was pretty empty when we got there but started filling up not too much after. The place is nice and bright without the teppanyaki tables. They still offer the menu but no longer cook in front of you. Our server was great, providing just the right amount of service! My table felt like the sushi we order was just ok. Of the 5 we ordered, the lobster delight roll was the better of the 5. The menu says the California and Philadelphia rolls are cooked but they arrived at our table like regular raw rolls. We did enjoy the all non-sushi items we ordered like the hibachi scallops, shumai, fried oysters, shrimp and vegetable tempura and chicken wings. We probably wouldn't do the premium again, the quality wasn't worth the price.

A little frustrated getting reservation and calling them. Staff at Aulani recommended them. Used Google maps to locate, the phone number is incorrect but address is. I went to web site to make reservation but only allowed spot for 5 so I made that. Tried to call multiple times over two days but not their fault. Ambiance This location is next to Foodland. It is colorful and very clean. Service Xu our server very attentive made some recommendations. The staff wear black uniforms I like that. Rate 5 Beer Iced cold beer served in chilled glass. Yes. Rate 5 Salmon Belly Osaka Roll Chef specialty. Spicy salmon, seared salmon belly with 'special sauce' it was special. Rate 5 Chicken Bento Box It was ok. Rate 3.5 I will return.

I've been to this location a handful of times but recently just went after they took away the tepenyaki style menu. They still offer the hibachi menu they just don't cook it in front of you anymore. The prices are great for the portions. They have combos where you can select your proteins. The seafood sizzling platter was fantastic omg. Drooling. We will try the AYCE sushi next time.

12 small pieces of Hamachi. 1 order = 2 pieces

Do yourself a favor.... READ ALL THE REVIEWS before coming here. And do not order the Premium menu as they take 10 - 15 minutes to slices 12 pieces of fish. We came in because of the "good reviews" we made the mistake of not reading ALL the reviews. I now know why this place is under 4 stars. It took 15 minutes to get our 6 orders of Hamachi. It's 2 pieces per order and all 12 pieces would be the size of a Big piece in a quality Japanese Bar/Restaurant. I'm not kidding. Pieces were slightly bigger than a quarter/25 cent piece. On average it took 10 to 15 minutes to get the Hamachi. Sushi for other tables did seem to come out quicker. My recommendation is to not upgrade to the Premium $20 more per person as it felt like they were discouraging us from getting the Hamachi. Server even told us that our 4th order of Hamachi might take longer because it's still frozen. I told her that I'd eat it frozen at this point and I seem to have shocked her. I guess she thought the reasoning of frozen would buy the sushi chefs the 15 minutes they needed to slice 12 small pieces of Hamachi. Staff did seem embarrassed to work there and stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've never left a AYCE buffet after 90 minutes and still be hungry. We would literally wait 10 - 15 minutes just to eat Hamachi for 1 minute. Then pass them our empty plate only to wait another 10 - 15 minutes for 12 more small pieces of Hamachi.

We went the day after Vday and it was a little busy! Had to wait about 20-25 minutes, which wasn't too bad. However the wait was getting longer as more people were starting to show up around 6pm. Had a wonderful server, Alexzandra, who was extremely friendly and attentive! The food was delicious and the dining experience was great!

Fresh sushi, friendly service, and consistently good food are exactly why we keep coming back to Sakura Sushi & Hibachi. We've visited Sakura Sushi & Hibachi several times, and the hospitality and quality have always kept us returning. On this visit we stopped in for a light lunch and ordered the Sakura Boat, which is the smaller of the sushi boats they offer but still more than enough for two people. The presentation was great and the seafood tasted fresh and clean. Pricing is about what you'd expect from a sushi and hibachi restaurant, but the flavor and quality of the fish make it worth it. For my daughter, we ordered the Hibachi Chicken plate with fried rice. She usually just eats a little bit of her meals, but this time she finished the entire plate--which says a lot about how good it was. The chicken was flavorful and the fried rice was cooked perfectly. Service throughout the meal was friendly, attentive, and very prompt, and our food came out quickly. Between the fresh seafood, flavorful dishes, and welcoming service, it's easy to see why this is a place we keep returning to. Great food, great service, and another solid dining experience at Sakura Sushi & Hibachi. We'll definitely be back again soon.

Salad and miso soup that comes with meal

Called ahead to make a reservation for 3 but they told me to just walk in. To my surprise, the restaurant was empty at 4:30pm on a weekend. At 5:30pm it wasn't even crowded. The Sakura VIP dinner for Two is worth the price for the amount of food. It comes with two plates and each person gets a miso soup and salad. Didn't care for the miso soup and salad- nothing special. Everything else was flavorful. The service was quick and attentive. The restaurant was clean. The food is not cooked in front of you! I thought it was going to be but I didn't do my research ahead of time.

This location no longer has hibachi cooktop tables! We made a reservation for 7 and we were surprised when we walked in as it was so quiet, and it was just regular dining tables. We chanced it anyways and quickly discovered the food had also changed - the noodles and rice were different and not as flavorful. The steak and shrimp were still good, but it just didn't hit the same. On the positive side the food came out really fast and the service was good. I would only come back here for their sushi menu if I ever returned.

Worst place to spend a penny for food. After being charged with kids meal $20, and she couldnt finish her food, weighed it to get charged additional $35? Like this is crazy for a meal you wish you will enjoy with family. Skye does not give or handle a good customer service. Looking at the meal - and wanting to try it to recommend to other people - NEVER! Will not RECOMMEND AND WILL NOT HAVE YOU GUYS SPEND MONEY WITH THEIR AYCE. I brought my friends to celebrate mother's day here but worst decision. Their policy is the unbelievable! Not a reasonable "uneatean" policy... a kid for $20, then weigh uneaten $35 extra charge - most expensive fries for kid! Insane...i On top of it, why do I need to pay service charge for $35 waste fee and tax? Definitely not being thought of for food and bev...

I really do not recommend this place! I went there with my husband today and was absolutely shocked! The sashimi slices on top of the sushi were as thin as paper--it felt like I was just eating plain rice! Furthermore, while they advertise that you can order in batches of three, the wait time between servings was so long that it completely disrupted the flow of our meal. On top of that, before we were even seated, we were instructed to read a notice stating that we would be charged extra if we left any rice behind; consequently, we ended up eating our meal feeling thoroughly put off. If you're looking for an all-you-can-eat sushi spot, I would recommend Kan Sushi in Waikiki instead!

Made reservations for dinner at teppanyaki/hibachi. Arrive to find out the removed all of the teppanyaki/hibachi tables and everything is now cooked in the kitchen so no show at all. What a huge disappointment as our last experience was great. The food is still good but not to correct temperature when brought out to the table. All three of our meals were cold which is not appetizing. Not sure what prompted the removal of the teppanyaki tables but please advertise on your website that you no longer offer that option.

I saw this place on social media. Now we live on Maui but we definitely like sushi and we love going to new sushi spots. So when this popped up we had to check it out. We were not disappointed. They are located in Kapolei at the new shopping center Kamakana Alii. Sakura is located directly across the parking lot from GEN. We made reservations for 8pm since we were coming from Waikiki. When we got there they were still busy with most tables occupied. Our hostess seated us a few minutes after we arrived and then our waiter came over shortly after. We started with a fried oysters and some mussels as well as the jalapeño hamachi. All were very good quality fish and prepared well. We also ordered some Hibachi Calamari as well as more nigiri. Some Hamachi , surf clam , Masago, white tuna , eel. All nigiri all were fresh and excellently prepared. We also had the sweet heart roll, Spider-Man roll, crazy Friday roll also tried some red snapper nigiri. The service was great our sushi came quickly and I like the decor. It was great for a newer business. I want to go back and try some of the other rolls and some of the other nigiri. They also have a premium option that gets you scallops, Lobster roll and sashimi. Definetly worth the price. We did not get a chance to try the drinks next time we will stay closer so we can sample from that menu. I will be back.

To preface this, we really enjoy the Mililani Sakura we have gone there quite abit, and this was the 2nd time I tried the kapolei one (1st time since renovation). The kapolei location is slightly more expensive than mililani, but prior to the renovation that was okay to me for the convenience if you live west side. But now after the renovation theres no Teppenyaki show, everything is cooked in the back. But its still priced high like your getting a show. Your paying extra for fake flowers on your plates. If you want to go Sakura, go to mililani. I will not be returning to kapolei.

I've been here over 3 maybe 4 times now and always enjoyed my experience here…read more I initially came here 3 days after opening. Although the menu has changed a bit, their food and service has stayed consistent. Service has improved as far as timing of food coming out (as goes with all freshly open restaurants). Their staff has always been superb. Top notch, super friendly, knowledgeable of the menu items and always accommodating. I've asked for their recommendations on certain items and their recommendations have always been a good choice. On today's visit (June 2026) we ordered the Korean soy garlic chicken wings, tuna toast and truffle fries as an appetizer. The wings were perfectly cooked.. juicy on the inside and perfectly seasoned and crispy on the outside. The tuna toast was very very very flavorful. It had a hint of smoke and citrus. Interesting but delightful experience for my taste buds. For our main course my date had chefs choice sushi and I had the pork loin katsu. The sushi was fresh and flavorful... you get 10 pcs so depends on your appetite (I'm a big eater so I would've ordered 3x sushi) he enjoyed the perfect portion (he's a skinny boy). I went for the pork katsu..... I highly recommend the pork loin. Super tender and juicy on the inside and perfectly flaky and crispy on the outside. For dessert we had the sweet potato crème brûlée.... Ok so we ordered this bc it's different.. but I wished I went for something more lighter due to alllll the food we ate. But it was interesting. Delicious concept. But for a dessert.... I would've chosen something more lighter. If you're still hungry after your meal... the sweet potato will top you off. Overall, I enjoy this place.... Nice place on the west side, free parking, great food, superb service and beats driving into town for sure! Oh... we also had a bottle of Dassai 45 sake with your meal. I enjoyed it a lot!

Coworker asked for fries instead of her rice with her pork katsu, and was informed that was not doable, cabbage was offered instead. You're offered tap water for free, still or sparkling for 7 dollars a bottle. Ebi katsu was massive and phenomenal in crunch, texture and freshness. 4 hand rolls need to be bigger or have more filling, because that was very sad for 25+ dollars. Pork katsu was wonderfully cooked, not sure about the grey substance on the cabbage salad though. Not tastefully done and was plopped on the cabbage. Banchan for the table was wonderful and deliciously pickled. Pickled onions, bean sprouts and beans, table of 8- given a portion for maybe 3 people. Miso fish was cooked well I heard. Salad with Gochujang and rice on bottom was weird for even the most adventurous eater. Of course they "ran out of birthday cake" for the birthday girl. Overall, come here for the views, a beeer, play a round of golf, have some select pupu's and call it a day. Not sure if I'd return, but hoping they fix a few things as it really can bring in tourists to this area of the island.

Within about 30 minutes, the place started filling up quickly -- always a good sign. Ordering was smooth and efficient, and our food came out shortly after without feeling rushed. My boyfriend ordered the spicy beef shabu shabu with spinach, mushrooms, and udon. The broth had a really nice kick -- flavorful, warming, and not overwhelmingly spicy. The beef was tender and paired perfectly with the fresh vegetables and chewy udon noodles. I went with the shrimp tempura udon, and it hit the spot. The curry was light yet savory, and the tempura shrimp were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside -- no soggy batter here. The portion sizes were just right: satisfying and comforting without leaving us overly stuffed. Great service, delicious food, efficient timing -- this is definitely a spot we'll be coming back to.
