I've gone to the Pearlridge, Kapolei and Ala Moana locations and they've all been pretty good. Last night we went to the Mililani location and food wasn't good. The gyoza wasn't cooked correctly. Instead of frying and steaming it, it tasted and looked like they deep fried it. The result was oily, oily gyoza which were haphazardly thrown on the dish. I should've took a picture of it. We ate it but it was one of the worst gyoza ever for almost $10. I ordered the spicy miso ramen. It wasn't spicy at all, in fact, it was sweet. I think they mixed up spicy vs sweet miso? I've eaten a lot of ramen here and in Japan and I've never tasted anything like it. They should taste their food before serving it. It wasn't good at all. The service was ok, nothing great or outstanding. The place was packed on a Sunday night at 6:00pm so they are doing good. Maybe people don't know that gyoza isn't supposed to be deep fried and that spicy miso broth is not supposed to be sweet? IDK/ It was my husband's first time eating at a Tanaka Ramen and he said it's one and done and he's never eating there again. Guess gotta go to our usual spot in town for decent ramen. After catching a movie in Mililani Town Center, we stumbled into Tanaka Ramen & Izakaya on a cold, rainy night -- and it was exactly the kind of cozy meal we were craving. The space is super spacious and brightly lit, with tons of seating both indoors and outdoors (we opted to stay inside because of the weather). It's in a convenient location right by Five Guys and the movie theater, with ample center parking. As for the food -- everything hit. We ordered: TonTon Ramen (rich, comforting, perfect for the rain) Salmon fried rice (loaded with salmon and so flavorful) Chicken karaage (fried extra crispy with a delicious spicy mayo dip) Katsu curry Chicken karaage bun Portions were generous for the price, and honestly, I would order every single dish again. Super flavorful and satisfying all around. The only reason this isn't a five-star review comes down to service. The team wasn't rude by any means, but after taking our order, there was very little check-in, no recommendations when we asked, and overall the energy felt a bit flat. It didn't ruin the experience, but it did take away from what could've been a standout visit. All in all, great food, great location, and a solid spot for ramen and comfort bites -- especially on a rainy night. With just a bit more warmth in service, this would easily be five stars read more

Can't decide between ramen, rice bowls, or sushi?! Why not have it all! This place has a much bigger menu than the Pearlridge location. There's definitely something for everyone. We mostly come here when we're craving ramen so that's what we get! Tonight, we went with a party of 8 people craving all different things: ramen, curry, sushi, and veggies. I always get the Tanaka Classic Ramen which comes with a soft boiled egg, fried onions, bean sprouts, woodear mushrooms, & chashu. It's so flavorful & rich. The hubby got the Curry Ramen which had a whole tonkatsu filet in it! He loved that it had all the veggies regular curry has. My friends got the Karaage Curry Rice Bowl which was a huge portion. Another friend got tofu & edamame. The edamame was sprinkled with salt for flavor but was too overpowering. We had to pop the soybeans out by hand to avoid too much salt. Lastly, another friend got the flight of 3 hand rolls. They were presented so nicely with the nori being so crisp! You can pick 3/6 options. Service was okay. There were multiple people checking in on us but they mostly just said "you guys doing okay?" I guess they didn't want to bother us too much. We were also the only table seated outside since we had a big party. Lastly, gratuity was automatically added to our check. read more

While ramen options are a little limited in Mililani, I was pleasantly surprised to see this at the Town Center. It's a good spot for either taking the family out or meeting with friends. The service is decent. The menu has quite a bit of offerings, and there should be something for everyone. We arrived right when they opened. The staff were ready for us! service was quick, they kept checking on us. Delicious ramen and the Parmesan was a pleasant surprise to the tastebuds! Made the broth extra creamy and added another delectable flavor. The broth, noodle consistency, pork and ramen egg was AMAZING. Ordered tempura Brussels sprouts - wouldn't order them again. Not really a taste to them - just tasted like fried Brussels sprouts. Felt like maybe there should've been a sauce or something that came with it. It's been super cold in Mililani so we wanted ramen! Didn't want to drive out in the wind and rain so used DoorDash and happy to receive the ramen each in a solid container that kept it hot! I opted for their Tanaka Classic Ramen only $17+ and you can't beat the price for what they give you! Delicious with awesome dashi! Plus usually I get super thirsty but I didn't with theirs! Daughter had the garlic Volcano and great flavor with generous portions. We like that you can request mild to extra spicy too. Tanaka Ramen is my son's favorite place to eat!! So glad they opened a location in Mililani!! We usually go on weekdays so we have no issues finding a table. There's both an indoor and outdoor area but a lot of times it seems they keep outside closed. Also, inside has a couple community tables so be prepared to possibly be sitting with another party at the other end. We love their Tanaka Classic Ramen and the broth is always just right... never too salty and their noodles are cooked perfectly. Another favorite is their tofu and avocado salad, which has a sesame dressing and always taste super fresh and complements the ramen well. For appetizers, we love to get the arabiki sausage which is grilled up and served over bean sprouts. You must dip it in the mustard and it'll taste extra good!! One of my favorite go to spots at Mililani Town Center! Located next to Five Guys Burgers. They have inside and outside seating. Staff is all friendly! I usually get their Tanaka Classic or Garlic Volcano Ramen, but I wanted to try something different. I was interested in their kimchi pork chashu fried rice but the server said it's really spicy so I got scared since my spice tolerance isn't like how it used to be. We've been here a few times now, and while the atmosphere is really nice and modern, the food has felt a little underwhelming for the price. We've tried a good variety from the menu--vegan ramen, Tanaka garlic, Tanaka spicy, fried Brussels sprouts, chicken kawa, and sushi--but each time, it felt like it was missing that extra "wow" factor. During our last visit, the service felt a bit spotty. We were helped at the beginning and end, but in between, we had to flag someone down for things like water refills or extra utensils. We also ordered just broth and noodles for our 6-year-old, who's pretty picky with toppings. We were charged for a full ramen, which we totally understand, but it would've been helpful to know that ahead of time--then we could've asked for the toppings on the side and enjoyed them ourselves. My BFF enjoyed her Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen. I enjoyed my Tanaka Garlic Volcano Ramen. We shared Truffle Fries and Tempura Brussel sprouts. Prices are very reasonable. Service was fast and fantastic. The restaurant wasn't too crowded which was nice. I keep telling myself I'll try other items besides ramen and I'm sure they taste just as delicious, but the ramen is too irresistible to pass up. They were busy as usual, and settled to sit on the bench style table with another family. I got the Tanaka Classic, minus the kikurage. We had dinner here on a weeknight and it was kind of slow, so it was easy to find seating. This is their newest location in Mililani. I've been to their other locations at Ala Moana and Pearlridge. The food has always been good. We got a bowl of Tanaka Tori $15.25, Ika Geso Karaage $8.99 and Karaage Chicken $7.99. Everything was delicious. I love ajitama and the ajitama from Tanaka Ramen is always perfection. They also have some of the best appetizers around. I always gravitate to the fried oysters and ika karaage. Perfect for a casual dinner before a movie, Tanaka Ramen offers small izakaya style dishes, ramens including vegan specials, rice bowls and more. Our group shared the hand-made pork gyoza and I ordered the Tanaka Tori (chicken) ramen. The broth was light and tasty and the thin noodles were perfectly chewy. I really enjoyed it. Next time I won't skip dessert and will have the mochi ice cream and the yuzu cheesecake.
