I really love that they offer individual hot pots, so everyone gets their own pot and can choose their own broth. They also have a nice selection of appetizers, and the self-serve bar was such a fun touch! You can create your own sauce and choose from a variety of toppings to customize your hot pot exactly how you like it. Overall, we had a great experience and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. That alone was frustrating, but what really shocked me was overhearing a manager insulting their own employee. Completely unprofessional and honestly embarrassing to witness. Lunch with a party of six on a Tuesday afternoon. First time coming here. A very pleasant experience. The place is relatively new, having replaced the old Outback Steakhouse. Space is wide open, uncluttered, with tables and lots of booths. They even have a bar where singles have dine. Nice ambiance, very chill and relaxing. Good music, and not too loud. Server was polite and friendly. Huge "salad bar" with uncooked veggies, noodles, and condiments for your soup. Just tell your server what broth you want, what appetizers you want, and select your meats. Only $22.95 pp for lunch. We had a reservation and despite having a lot of empty seats, they said they couldn't seat us because the server was not ready. We waited about 15 mins before being seated. Also, was kind of hard getting our servers attention at times and they were very strict on the time limit despite the restaurant being empty. There's a lot to like about this place. I wanted to come here because it's just like Broth in Cerritos CA and I really enjoy that place. The meats are very good and I am so glad that you can order 12 meats at a time. Another thing I like is that the pieces of beef are substantial. Some places, you get slices of beef that are the size of a half dollar, but here they are nicely sized. The selection of broths and vegetables are decent as well, but the buffet could have been a bit cleaner. Shabuya's second location in Kapolei is such a win for those of us who live on the west side! So convenient and just as good as the original. Wait time wasn't long at all, and there are plenty of tables inside, making it great for groups. My go to is always the spicy miso broth. Super tasty with great flavor and the perfect level of spice without being overwhelming. The meats are high quality and come in good portions, which makes the experience even better. The buffet bar is the same setup as the first location, with a wide variety of noodles, vegetables, additional meats and seafood, plus tons of sauces to customize your meal. So many options to choose from. I really enjoy their fish ball and raw eggs that I can cook with the ramen! I wouldn't skip the original fried chicken. It's so good we had to order more than five bowls of them! Crispy, flavorful sauce, and totally addictive. Service was fast and the servers were very attentive throughout our meal. Great experience! Server was consistently checking up on us and ensuring we had all our meats and water refilled. Food was fresh, but I do have one complaint. Maybe they should have an arrow for direction to go when grabbing food from the noodle/seafood/vegetable bar. Finally decided to try Shibuya after driving past it for over two months. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how loud it was. It made it hard to hear the server's instructions or even ask for things. Our waiter also kept forgetting items we requested. We ordered drinks, and even though the restaurant wasn't busy, it still took about 10 minutes to get them. The meat was okay, but it was sliced incredibly thin--so thin you could practically see through it. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't anything special. The biggest issue, though, was how they charged for kids. My daughter is 10 years old. After we had already finished eating, they asked her to stand next to a height marker to determine whether she qualified for the kids' price. Because she's tall for her age, they charged her the full adult price. That just doesn't make sense to me. If your policy is based on age, say 10 and under or 12 and under, that's fair. But using height? Some kids are naturally tall, and others are short. My daughter is only about 80 pounds--she's still very much a kid. Charging a child an adult price because of their height feels like a cheap way to squeeze out a few extra dollars. I don't blame the staff. I blame the management and the owners. If you don't empower your employees to make good decisions and set clear standards, the customer experience is never going to rise above mediocre. As someone who's worked in the food industry and has been a manager, I know it starts at the top and trickles down. Overall, the food was decent, but nothing memorable. Between the loud atmosphere, inconsistent service, and the way they handled the kids' pricing, I don't see myself coming back. I'm not sure if this is a locally owned business or a large corporation, but either way, it just didn't have that aloha spirit that makes you want to return. There are plenty of other places with the same concept that offer better service, better presentation, and a better overall experience. I came into Shabuya around 6:29 PM and overall had a really good experience, definitely leaning toward 4 stars. When we first got there, there were quite a few people waiting, but the process was smooth. We checked in with the hostess, joined the waitlist through our phone, and got a text when our table was ready. The wait honestly wasn't bad at all. I did ask if the bar was open seating since there were only two people sitting there, but they let me know it wasn't because they had been slammed all day and the bartender had just come back from break. I get it, it just would've been nice as an option. Let me tell you... I got their "adult Capri Sun" (a strawberry lychee slushy) and it was SO good. Like dangerously good lol. Food-wise, I actually loved the curry rice and karaage more than the hot pot itself, didn't expect that! The salad bar had plenty of options, and there were a lot of seafood choices too if you're into that. The only thing that felt a little limited was the thin meats since you can only choose up to eight at a time and it was a controlled item to order as the server stopped by. Nevertheless, they looked like premium ribbons of meat. Service was great. Our server was attentive, and once we placed orders, the food came out really fast. The vibe of the restaurant is super nice too, very sleek, clean, and modern. I love an all-black aesthetic, it just looks put together. My only real issue was the bathroom, two stalls had toilet paper placed in the corner by the toilet, which just didn't feel hygienic. Lunch time! My first time lunching at this location was last summer, and sadly I neglected to post a review. Thankfully, I visited for lunch today and decided to defy procrastination by posting a review at the earliest convenience. 1. Yes, there's parking! The restaurant has their own lot, which is more spacious than I expected (I believe this was formerly Outback Steakhouse). 2. Yes, per posted signage above the entrance, they do serve lunch everyday. Per the menu, lunch hours are Monday thru Friday, Open (11am per Yelp) to 3:00pm; excludes Holidays, Sat, and Sun (as per the menu). Lunch pricing is $22.99/person. 3. Yes, there is time limit. Lunching time = 90 minutes. Our server informed us that he would provide notification when the time limit was near. 4. Yes, diners will choose their broth first (we chose original), and are allowed 8 meats and 3 appetizers at a time. Aside from these choices, diners can help themselves to the many offerings/choices at the salad bar. These include banchan, vegetables, fish options, and sauces. There is a drink menu (a bar is located just off of the entrance) available which includes soda and alcohol. 5. Yes, we ordered mostly chicken for our meats, but also chose to try the pork belly and beef toro. As the meats are thinly sliced, they cooked quickly and easily in the hot broth. The vegetable choices at the salad bar included cabbage, broccoli, and mushrooms. We tried the gyoza and chicken karaage from the appetizer menu.....decent but small portions. 6. Yes, we felt 90 minutes was sufficient for us; we started to get full as the 1 hour mark approached. 7. Yes, service was very satisfactory. Our server explained the process of ordering and self-service clearly, and checked on us periodically throughout the meal. I appreciated that he came over with broth and water refills readily. Celebrated a birthday here and everyone enjoyed their AYCE $23 lunch. Honestly, there's only so much you can eat, so we focused on the meat and fresh vegetables. As for the appetizers, the Karaage and Japchae were good, but I would pass on the gyoza. The fish and seafood weren't as fresh as I would have like, hence the docked star. Other than that, there was a wide selection to choose from the fresh food bar. Seating for 6 in a booth is somewhat awkward in that when a person wanted to get up to get something you either have to ask everyone to get up out of their seat or ask the person at the end of the booth to get it for you. OMG I LOVE Shabuya. I've been several times and it truly never misses. Our most recent visit was for my husband's birthday lunch and the team made him feel genuinely special from start to finish. Weekday lunch pricing is incredible. For under $25 I left completely full and so happy. It's such a good value for the quality and level of service you get. Service is always on point. Tables are cleared quickly, water is constantly refilled, and the meat comes out fast. I especially love that they never make you feel like a burden for ordering more. Instead they proactively ask what other meats you'd like to try, which really sets this place apart. The vibes are great and the whole experience feels smooth and well run. We leave happy every single time. My only small wish is that they had enoki mushrooms, but they do have wood ear mushrooms which I love, so it's an easy trade off. Little tip: if you are headed there, get your name on the list as you get closer to the restaurant to decrease your wait time! Upon walking in, you'll see the bar seating, and to the left and right, you'll see tables to eat. They have a patio seating (still enclosed) and indoor seating. In the middle of the left side, they have the veggies, seafood, carbs, and sauce bar. Not going to lie, it is so hard not to fill up on all the stuff they have at the bar- from napa cabbage, baby corn, sweet potato to mussels, fish, squid, and udon, ramen, and low-carb noodles- there's something for everyone! My husband got the spicy miso broth, and I got the tonkatsu broth, and they both didn't disappoint! For our meats, we got all the beef ones, but our favorite was the wagyu. Thin enough so you don't feel like you're just eating a hunk of meat, but still satisfying! Each tray of meat comes with 3-4 slices, so we would get 6 trays at a time, since it does take a little time to cook. I suggest that you put the veggies that take a little longer to cook, such as sweet potato, kombocha squash, and broccoli, to cook first, and then put in the meat once they come out. I normally don't return as soon as I did after poor experience, but my friend insisted on going here for dinner. I am so glad we did! They over exceeded my expectations this time around! Chels was our main server! She really delivered great service and I would like to say she is the epitome of Ho'okipa(hawaiian word for hospitality)! Reason being, she was constantly checking on us, kept that smile going, you never seen struggle on her face. And very approachable! Oh, kudos tho for Irieelovee for checking her section for a little bit, she gave me straws and instantly removed the trash! It's all in the details! Food.... Again, always the best.... This time around, I did try the blue crabs in my broth with Sukiyaki and it did not disappoint! I believe it added more umami in my soup base. Everything came relatively quick! With the exception of soy glazed chicken that took a bit extra time and then I realized others were also missing the chicken. Our server was very apologetic and ensured they were working om it. I would definitely recommend getting that blue crabs or at least two for the broth and meat too! Give some extra time for the fried chicken though! My favorite is still going to be the toro. Going to Shabyu during a work lunch is a no-no as I suffered a kanak attack quickly after! Their lunch special is such a deal which will leave you super full. Make sure you wear a dress or your stretch pants because it's all you can eat! My colleagues and I went during lunch (during the week) for a celebration and it wasn't too busy. We did make reservations so we were quickly seated. I like that you can get pupus and aren't stuck only with the hot pot items. The meat is small kine thin, but it's good since the meat won't get chewy. They have a larger variety of veggies, some seafood and a lot of sauces. Service was great and also really fast! Parking wise, there's a lot and perhaps you could park in the Home Depot area or by Starbucks if you really had to. read more

Check in first upon coming in... will be asked your name and cell phone number (perhaps for future promotions texts?) ... Waited less than one minute (we were there about 11:18am today, Thursday before being seated. We were seated past the salad bar and just there in the partial booth and two seats table facing the kitchen. Our server was Ms. Kaliena, who asked if we were here before, i told her no, my brother said he had one time before... This location opened just a few months back in May, she said. I was so ignorant in my thoughts of what a hotpot place was - specifically this, as my brother said this is more like an updated version of the traditional hotpot places... Each seat has their own cooking burner for their own soups... brother chose sukiyaki, his wife chose traditional miso, and i chose spicy miso broth... there were two more other broths available. She was nice and pleasant to tell us how to do things, what to choose, etc... so we can choose up to 8 trays at a time of meats and 4 appetizers at a time. We chose the pork belly, beef toro, beef blade and natural chicken. We chose chicken karaage, volcano chicken karaage (sauce yes makes it spicy... maybe a 3 out of 5 on heat/spiciness) and some chop chae. Throughout we chose more chicken, including the soy glazed karaage, and I fell in love with ordering more of the volcano chicken karaage. Now before you think we ate so much, please note these came in 'small' bowls that they put in 2 or 3 at the most morsels of karaage. I was so ignorant again of a hot pot place, they saying it was a salad bar.. so i chose things to put for a regular toss salad, but could not find any 'dressings' like French, Thousand Island, etc.. ha ha.! Brother had to tell me no, those were to put inside your simmering pot of soup. Ahh, the lightbulb turned on all of a sudden! Ohhhh... For $22.99, this place was worth its price for all you can eat until 3pm! Now i tasted brother's sukiyaki broth... good but then the 'sweetness; came at the end... to me, too sweet. didn't try my sister in law's regular miso... but should be like all others... but mine... mine being the 'spicy miso' was very tasty until about later as you sit and it still simmers... having the water escape through being boiled and now the saltiness became SO OBVIOUS... Yes, even with our server, Kaliena giving me more broth... so just be careful and warned... the spicy miso broth will become saltiER and more noticeable as time goes by... it was very obvious... But to be honest, the meats are sliced almost paper thin---no joke... to me, i could NOT differentiate what part of beef or if i was eating the chicken slices... Plus, do not overdo on dunking the meats into the different sauces at the salad bar... they taste GOOD ON ITS OWN... Yes, i would come again... even the other two in my party was thinking of coming here once per month for the $22.99 special! I still would rate it 5 stars, even though two 'cons' if i would call it that... 1) the spicy miso broth would become quite salty as it continues to cook on the burner and the water evaporates, 2) the meats are really sliced thin... and i do mean T-H-I-N. The food was ok, it was in the middle range of I won't write home but would still come. The broths were ok and not one really stood out to me with flavor. One of my go to spots after work since its close to my work place. I usually dine in during their lunch special. Lunch is $22.99 (Monday-Friday) and dinner is $32.99. The place is clean and the booth seats are pretty comfortable. The service is hit or miss depending how busy it is. However, I must say Cory is the BEST server! He genuinely cares and knows what you need before you say anything. I love the varitey of options from meats, seafood, vegetables and sauces. I personally love to mix the spicy miso and tonktosu broth together. The appetizers are pretty good like the japchae and gyoza. They do have a drink menu from beer, cocktails, and soju. The very first thing that hit me at Shabuya Kapolei wasn't the food - it was the dishes. Stinky, dirty dishes. BIG TURN OFF at the start. The veggie bar plates are stored under the buffet counter, right where dusty fans blow directly onto them. Some of those plates were actually DISGUSTING: dusty, wet, stuck together with food debris from the night before, so stink!! I've worked in restaurants, so I can only imagine what the dish pit looked like at the end of the night. Please - change out the soaking water more often or give plates a final rinse and dry before stacking. It's basic, but it matters. The food itself was decent, but honestly the variety and quality don't compare to our go-to spot, Rokaru. The pupu selection was super minimal, and we didn't like being charged dinner prices at lunchtime without getting the full dinner pupu menu. Checking in was another headache. We were second in line before opening, but the iPad system bumped us down to fourth. When staff finally came out after opening, they tried checking in people from the opposite side of where the line had formed - total confusion. Guests literally had to correct the hosts and organize ourselves. If they want a certain check-in order, put up signs and arrows. Don't leave paying customers to figure it out cuz no one appreciates being seated after people who came after you. Overall, the food was okay, but the cleanliness, variety, and organization really dragged the whole experience down. Our server was good tho! This newly opened restaurant has taken over the Outback location in Kapolei, right across from Costco. We're thrilled they opened here, especially since we used to drive all the way to the Ala Moana location just to enjoy their food. Thee restaurant is a great size which includes many tables for dining, a bar area where you can also get seated to eat, and an outside area which I do not recommend. The last time we were seated there, there were many flys and although we were disappointed, out server did offer us a seat at the bar since they were very busy and did not have any other seats available. One feature we love is the Yelp waitlist. It's so convenient to know where you stand in line and avoid the long wait times just to get seated. If you're a hot pot fan, this spot is a must-try. The AYCE dinner is priced at $32.99, which is pretty reasonable considering the variety they offer. The buffet includes a great selection of veggies, noodles, seafood (crab, mussels, clams, shrimp, and fish), fish cakes, kimchee, various sauces, and garnishes. Lunch is slightly cheaper at $29.99, but it doesn't include crab, some noodles, fish cakes, or their premium meats. You order your meats through the server, who will bring you up to 8 items at a time. We especially love the pork belly, and occasionally get the toro and ribeye. This location also has an expanded izakaya menu with options like fried chicken, japchae, takoyaki, gyoza, soybeans, and even curry and rice. The service has been excellent each time we've visited. The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We really enjoy coming here and would definitely recommend it! read more

My family and I arrived during the evening dinner hours and waited patiently to be seated. Although the restaurant has a larger layout, the wait was longer than expected. Since indoor seating wasn't available, we were seated on the outdoor patio. When we arrived at our table, my partner noticed his chair was heavily soiled with pigeon droppings before sitting down. He politely requested a different chair. The female employee assisting us was not wearing a name tag and appeared to be coordinating seating arrangements at the front of the restaurant, which led me to believe she was serving in a supervisory role. Rather than simply replacing the chair, she chose to clean it. My partner thanked her for taking the time to clean it but explained that he would still prefer a different chair because it had been heavily soiled and was still wet. After we had already waited to be seated, my partner remained standing for approximately 11 minutes while we quietly and patiently waited for the issue to be resolved. In our experience, this felt like an unnecessarily long wait for what should have been a simple chair replacement. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple request became an uncomfortable interaction. The employee retrieved a replacement chair from a stack at the back of the patio, forcefully dropped it onto the floor, and stated, "This one is not clean either!" As my partner asked if she could please wipe it down, she walked away. The replacement chair appeared to be heavily dusty, so I wiped it down myself before it was used. The manner in which the chair was handled, together with the comment, drew the attention of nearby guests dining on the patio and made our family feel embarrassed. I also noticed several staff members standing near the patio entrance observing the interaction, but no one stepped in to help resolve what should have been a simple customer service issue. Throughout our meal, birds continued landing on and around the patio tables where guests were eating. I also observed staff members laughing and commenting about the birds rather than addressing the situation. While I understand outdoor seating presents challenges, maintaining a clean dining environment and minimizing food safety concerns should remain a priority. As our family was leaving, there was no acknowledgment or apology regarding the interaction. We left disappointed because the experience overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable family dinner. This review is not intended to single out one employee. Rather, it is intended to provide honest and transparent feedback about the overall guest experience. Based on what I observed, I believed the employee was serving in a supervisory capacity, and I expected the situation to be handled with courtesy, professionalism, and respect. My hope is that management views this feedback as an opportunity to reinforce customer service, cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork so future guests receive the same excellent experience I've consistently enjoyed at the Ala Moana location. read more

I was brought here for lunch for the first time a week ago, and it was really nice here. They had nice staff, good drinks, good food, and I enjoyed the music they played in there. Definitely try the strawberry banana smoothie if you go! Though, I do wish I could've take more advantage of the buffet selection because I kept forgetting it was there lol! read more

As a fan of the Shabuya location at Ala Moana, I was excited to try out the new location in Kapolei. I came here on a Friday night with my family. We joined the waiting list and didn't take long to check in with the hostess and get seated. Your whole party needs to be present before you are seated. There is ample space with a bar area, a private dining section, and a full dining area. For children, they will measure their height to see what the cost will be per child. My two boys were under 40 inches, so it was $10.99 for each of them. The self-serve vegetable, noodle, and seafood bar was conveniently located in the middle of the restaurant for easy access for all diners. There was a bar section where diners could enjoy their hot pot while watching a sports game like football or basketball. Very cool! My family and I went there on a Sunday and it's $32.99 per adult. Drinks not included. All you can eat buffet. You have to make sure you don't eat anything before going here. We left feeling beyond stuffed. Service was fast and friendly. The place was clean, organized and definitely lots of people. read more
