Absolutely amazing customer service from our server! It was our first time here, and he made sure to explain everything thoroughly. All the food was incredible and the inside of the restaurant is brand new and so clean I think for the quality of food and amount of food that you can have it's actually a great value!

Celebrated a birthday here and everyone enjoyed their AYCE $23 lunch. Honestly, there's only so much you can eat, so we focused on the meat and fresh vegetables. As for the appetizers, the Karaage and Japchae were good, but I would pass on the gyoza. The fish and seafood weren't as fresh as I would have like, hence the docked star. Other than that, there was a wide selection to choose from the fresh food bar. Seating for 6 in a booth is somewhat awkward in that when a person wanted to get up to get something you either have to ask everyone to get up out of their seat or ask the person at the end of the booth to get it for you. I asked the staff if Shabuya does anything special for the birthday person, but they do not.

I came into Shabuya around 6:29 PM and overall had a really good experience, definitely leaning toward 4 stars. When we first got there, there were quite a few people waiting, but the process was smooth. We checked in with the hostess, joined the waitlist through our phone, and got a text when our table was ready. The wait honestly wasn't bad at all. I did ask if the bar was open seating since there were only two people sitting there, but they let me know it wasn't because they had been slammed all day and the bartender had just come back from break. I get it, it just would've been nice as an option. Let me tell you... I got their "adult Capri Sun" (a strawberry lychee slushy) and it was SO good. Like dangerously good lol. Food-wise, I actually loved the curry rice and karaage more than the hot pot itself, didn't expect that! The salad bar had plenty of options, and there were a lot of seafood choices too if you're into that. The only thing that felt a little limited was the thin meats since you can only choose up to eight at a time and it was a controlled item to order as the server stopped by. Nevertheless, they looked like premium ribbons of meat. Service was great. Our server was attentive, and once we placed orders, the food came out really fast. The vibe of the restaurant is super nice too, very sleek, clean, and modern. I love an all-black aesthetic, it just looks put together. My only real issue was the bathroom, two stalls had toilet paper placed in the corner by the toilet, which just didn't feel hygienic. Also, the hostess/manager (she was wearing a white blouse) ran after us to let us know we couldn't take our Capri Suns to go lol. I mean... I get it, rules are rules, but it did catch me off guard. Overall, I really did enjoy my experience and would come back! Just a few small things that could be improved.

Party of 1, I always request the bar. I absolutely love that you get your own little burner, and service is fast (being that its just you and the bartender)

Lunch time! My first time lunching at this location was last summer, and sadly I neglected to post a review. Thankfully, I visited for lunch today and decided to defy procrastination by posting a review at the earliest convenience. 1. Yes, there's parking! The restaurant has their own lot, which is more spacious than I expected (I believe this was formerly Outback Steakhouse). 2. Yes, per posted signage above the entrance, they do serve lunch everyday. Per the menu, lunch hours are Monday thru Friday, Open (11am per Yelp) to 3:00pm; excludes Holidays, Sat, and Sun (as per the menu). Lunch pricing is $22.99/person. 3. Yes, there is time limit. Lunching time = 90 minutes. Our server informed us that he would provide notification when the time limit was near. 4. Yes, diners will choose their broth first (we chose original), and are allowed 8 meats and 3 appetizers at a time. Aside from these choices, diners can help themselves to the many offerings/choices at the salad bar. These include banchan, vegetables, fish options, and sauces. There is a drink menu (a bar is located just off of the entrance) available which includes soda and alcohol. 5. Yes, we ordered mostly chicken for our meats, but also chose to try the pork belly and beef toro. As the meats are thinly sliced, they cooked quickly and easily in the hot broth. The vegetable choices at the salad bar included cabbage, broccoli, and mushrooms. We tried the gyoza and chicken karaage from the appetizer menu.....decent but small portions. 6. Yes, we felt 90 minutes was sufficient for us; we started to get full as the 1 hour mark approached. 7. Yes, service was very satisfactory. Our server explained the process of ordering and self-service clearly, and checked on us periodically throughout the meal. I appreciated that he came over with broth and water refills readily. Very good service. BOTTOM LINE A decent hot pot AYCE in Kapolei. I thought the lunch pricing was very reasonable for what's included. Recommended. Lastly, I'm glad I had the opportunity to post this review today.

OMG I LOVE Shabuya. I've been several times and it truly never misses. Our most recent visit was for my husband's birthday lunch and the team made him feel genuinely special from start to finish. Weekday lunch pricing is incredible. For under $25 I left completely full and so happy. It's such a good value for the quality and level of service you get. Service is always on point. Tables are cleared quickly, water is constantly refilled, and the meat comes out fast. I especially love that they never make you feel like a burden for ordering more. Instead they proactively ask what other meats you'd like to try, which really sets this place apart. The vibes are great and the whole experience feels smooth and well run. We leave happy every single time. My only small wish is that they had enoki mushrooms, but they do have wood ear mushrooms which I love, so it's an easy trade off. Consistently excellent and one of my go to spots.

There are plenty of parking for this location and definitely less crowded than the one at Ala Moana Center. The selections and menu seemed to be the same. We got the tonkotsu and sukiyaki soup base. Both were great although I preferred the sukiyaki with a raw egg as dipping sauce. Their meat was nice and fresh and they refilled the veggies and seafood stations often. Staff worked fast and worked well together. Orders came out quickly and precisely, and the restaurant was kept clean.

Going to Shabyu during a work lunch is a no-no as I suffered a kanak attack quickly after! Their lunch special is such a deal which will leave you super full. Make sure you wear a dress or your stretch pants because it's all you can eat! My colleagues and I went during lunch (during the week) for a celebration and it wasn't too busy. We did make reservations so we were quickly seated. I like that you can get pupus and aren't stuck only with the hot pot items. The meat is small kine thin, but it's good since the meat won't get chewy. They have a larger variety of veggies, some seafood and a lot of sauces. Service was great and also really fast! Parking wise, there's a lot and perhaps you could park in the Home Depot area or by Starbucks if you really had to.

First off...I would like to say the overall experience was very good. Clean, fast, efficient, & a delicious variety of food. Smoothies were on point too. We were thoroughly enjoying ourselves until our server, Benji, came and closed the window shade at OUR table without even asking. I stared at him wondering why, when he stated that the table in back of me wanted it closed. No sorry. No nothing. We were actually enjoying the rainy day while sippin on some hot soup until that point. TBH, if he just asked me, I would've said "Yes, no problem". So, without sounding dramatic, I immediately lost my appetite after that.

Never been to a 'hotpot' restaurant before... ever... had preconceived notions that there was one large bowl of soup that may have at the most, split into two, so there would be two broths simmering...Wrong! Anyway, as one person in our party of 3 requires a walker due to a recent medical condition, we parked in 1 of the two handicapped parking stalls fronting this place (the former Outback Steakhouse). Check in first upon coming in... will be asked your name and cell phone number (perhaps for future promotions texts?) ... Waited less than one minute (we were there about 11:18am today, Thursday before being seated. We were seated past the salad bar and just there in the partial booth and two seats table facing the kitchen. Our server was Ms. Kaliena, who asked if we were here before, i told her no, my brother said he had one time before... This location opened just a few months back in May, she said. I was so ignorant in my thoughts of what a hotpot place was - specifically this, as my brother said this is more like an updated version of the traditional hotpot places... Each seat has their own cooking burner for their own soups... brother chose sukiyaki, his wife chose traditional miso, and i chose spicy miso broth... there were two more other broths available. She was nice and pleasant to tell us how to do things, what to choose, etc... so we can choose up to 8 trays at a time of meats and 4 appetizers at a time. We chose the pork belly, beef toro, beef blade and natural chicken. We chose chicken karaage, volcano chicken karaage (sauce yes makes it spicy... maybe a 3 out of 5 on heat/spiciness) and some chop chae. Throughout we chose more chicken, including the soy glazed karaage, and I fell in love with ordering more of the volcano chicken karaage. Now before you think we ate so much, please note these came in 'small' bowls that they put in 2 or 3 at the most morsels of karaage. I was so ignorant again of a hot pot place, they saying it was a salad bar.. so i chose things to put for a regular toss salad, but could not find any 'dressings' like French, Thousand Island, etc.. ha ha.! Brother had to tell me no, those were to put inside your simmering pot of soup. Ahh, the lightbulb turned on all of a sudden! Ohhhh... For $22.99, this place was worth its price for all you can eat until 3pm! Now i tasted brother's sukiyaki broth... good but then the 'sweetness; came at the end... to me, too sweet. didn't try my sister in law's regular miso... but should be like all others... but mine... mine being the 'spicy miso' was very tasty until about later as you sit and it still simmers... having the water escape through being boiled and now the saltiness became SO OBVIOUS... Yes, even with our server, Kaliena giving me more broth... so just be careful and warned... the spicy miso broth will become saltiER and more noticeable as time goes by... it was very obvious... But to be honest, the meats are sliced almost paper thin---no joke... to me, i could NOT differentiate what part of beef or if i was eating the chicken slices... Plus, do not overdo on dunking the meats into the different sauces at the salad bar... they taste GOOD ON ITS OWN... Yes, i would come again... even the other two in my party was thinking of coming here once per month for the $22.99 special! I still would rate it 5 stars, even though two 'cons' if i would call it that... 1) the spicy miso broth would become quite salty as it continues to cook on the burner and the water evaporates, 2) the meats are really sliced thin... and i do mean T-H-I-N. My brother told me there was a 90 minute seating limit... but we took 63 minutes from start to finish and never felt rushed at sitting there... Highly recommended!

    Ask the Community - Shabuya

    Is it vegan friendly?

There are a lot of vegetable choices. Different noodle choices including Spinach noodles. Not to sure if the broths are vegan.

Are the wait times as long as the Ala Moana location?

No, not at all! If you are within 5 miles you are able to put yourself on the waitlist. Don't forget to check-in when you get there! Waited less than 10 mins to be seated. 😊

Is it purely AYCE? If I just wanted to eat nothing but a teriyaki chicken and rice bowl, is that possible? My family can do AYCE but I can't eat too much.

    Yes, it is only AYCE.

    Do they take reservations?

No they do not. Seating is based on FCFS. Through yelp you are able to put your name on the waitlist.

    When will the opening be?

    It's today, May 15 @ 3pm

We started off trying their virgin maitai which was pretty good and not too sweet with their famous pineapple foam on too. Then we got their house made gnocchi which was very soft and complemented well with the spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and pesto sauce. The kalua pork pizza with pineapple was really good and also had the pesto sauce inside that complemented the pork and pineapple well. Finally we got the fresh fish sandwich that tasted pretty decent, nothing amazing. We would've considered the macadamia nut crusted fish instead but didn't really want to spend over $50 on that one entree.

We opted for the lechon style brussels and spicy garlic noodles (this was a snack before our dinner at another establishment). The brussels were an interesting flavor. I would've liked more flavor coming through the overall seasoning of this dish. I was expecting salty, sweet and vinegary, but it missed the mark for me. As for the spicy garlic noodles, this was flavorful, and very rich/buttery. My friend and I split the egg, while the third person in our party opted against it because she didn't care for runny eggs. Perhaps it's a good thing the third person didn't partake in the egg, because as my friend and I were driving to our next destination, we had to make a pit stop to use the restroom, as it seems that something didn't quite sit well with either of our tummies. The 3rd person who didn't eat the egg was completely fine, so not sure if it was the egg or the richness of the dishes. Overall, I would eat here again, though I would try something else on the menu.

The service can be a bit slow when the place is crowded but that's expected. If you haven't already tried this spot, it's definitely a local food fav of mines! Updated with photos of tonight's food.

The vibes are good with live music but the music is LOUD so be prepared you have to talk pretty loud to hear the people at your table. The gluten free menu is available but it is limited. The server was fantastic about answering questions and honestly she was the best part of the meal. I ordered the edamame and shrimp fried rice my mom ordered the Caesar salad. The portions are LARGE plenty for 3-4 people to split let alone two. Caesar salad was standard and good from what my mom told me. Edamame- I probably would not order this again. It was fine, but I didn't love the seasoning blend on it personally there are other things I would be interested in trying. Shrimp fried rice- I was really excited to try this and I was really hoping that it would be excellent and it was OK. The shrimp was cooked well and the fried rice just felt like it needed some more butter and it was lacking some of the things that make fried rice, fried rice like a fried egg so overall not my favorite dish. The gluten-free menu was pretty limited on options for me to try so I would probably go to somewhere else to try and get fried rice in the future.

Also, did I really want a Sonic burger? The answer was an easy no. Did a quick search and found this place which I had no idea existed but now I know they exist in an excellent way. People come here to drink, I'm not a drinker but there was plentynof alcoholic beverages on the back wall for your choice that it could be overwhelming. This is a bar with indoor seating and a World Cup game was on. I think there was outdoor seating but it looked like a different restaurant to me. We ordered dirty fries, a sweet tea, the simple smash, village smash, and sweet tea. I have to admit, I'm overly harsh on burgers but from the first bite, this hit right to me. The dirty fries were good also. We washed down that salt with their mildly sweet sweet tea. That's the only miss for me as I like deep sweet tea thanks to some time spent in Mississippi earlier in life. Their food put themselves on my radar so we will definitely be back as we didn't even scratch the other meats they had on menu.

My buddy and I stopped by here specifically to get their smash burgers, but unfortunately, the…read moregriddle was down, so no entrée items on the right side of the menu (sandwiches, burgers, sausages) were available. Our server informed us that it had been off and on for the past week, but went down since Friday. Not good for only being open for a year. They only had appetizers and salads, along with their bar, which offers a wide range of beers and wine by the glass, along with cocktails. Since we were technically "working", that had to wait for another time. Our server, Erin, was so nice and apologetic, even tho it wasn't her fault. For obvious reasons it was fairly slow, for a normal Sunday lunch crowd. Since we were pressed for time, we ended up just ordering a couple of appetizers; the sausage bites and chicken. They were both tempura style battered, and served with sauce or mustard on the side. The sausage had a slight spice to it, which was nice, and it was served piping hot pot of the fryer. A fork would've been nice, but they were small enough to eat by hand, but be careful, because they're pretty tough to bite thru. The chicken bites were smaller and easier to handle, although they were a bit dry, so the ranch furikake dipping sauce helped. We were out within 20 minutes, so very fast, and I'm hoping the griddle gets repaired soon, so I can try their burgers.

We went on a Saturday, getting to the resort before 4:30 and then up we went with our special key from the front desk. We didn't have to use the key. When we got to the room, it is unassuming as it blends in with other rooms...except not. Followed the instructions on the door and it was so cool we closed the door and video taped it. I think it threw off the people working as they expected patrons. The walk in the hallway threw me off a little but after you walk through the small room...WOW. All I had to say was WOW. Because I had no expectation everything was so exciting. There was a "rooftop bar" feel to the place and the view was so nice. (Although I could do with less tree-view) It would have been nice to have been early enough to get seats at the railing but we didn't know you could get there before 4:30 and there was already a few groups there. Seating is first come first serve so we opted for a high top table tucked in the back that the 4 of us could sit and chat but still enjoy the view. I took a few photos but mostly enjoyed the ambiance and the girl talk. I don't know why I thought there would be light pupus but nope, no food. Just some olives and nuts. I wish I took photos of the drink selection menu because I don't remember what was in my drink. The names of the cocktails were fun though! I enjoyed a "Lifted 'Yota" which was fun and tasty. They also serve mocktails if you don't want to have the alcohol. All in all, I loved the experience we had and my friends and I look forward to coming back. I mean, there's an extensive beverage list and I must try something else!
