There was pretty good variety and some dishes I don't usually see offered at typical buffets like salmon skin, salmon tartare and dragon fruit. Food quality was what you'd expect, not great but also not bad. The sushi was just okay, I would go for more of the Chinese dishes offered which they had a lot of including dimsum and various soups. We love going to Sakura for their AYCE buffet. However the pandemic has kind of ruined all normal dining. I was excited to find out they recently reopened. My husband and I have been missing sushi terribly. Their menu is limited but we ordered take based off their DoorDash/UberEats menu (you can use the the apps for delivery but we preferred pick up). Everything we got was smartly packed - hot items together and cold together. Everything is so good at the buffet but now everything is made to order and extra delicious and fresh. We enjoyed our sushi and my kids inhaled their chicken lo mein, edamame and gyoza. Pick up protocol is great and makes you feel safe. You call in, pay with credit card over phone, call when you arrive and go to the door where they bring you your order. Review Came here on Christmas Eve after calling the restaurant to confirm they had something special since it was all day dinner pricing. They confirmed so and said there's even lobster and duck to celebrate the occasion. Been here for dinner before and there were less items than the regular dinner nights. There was no duck so they straight up lied and as for the lobster, they did not refill it the whole time I was there. The other items were warm and they did not refill any of the seafood and "exclusive protein" items at all, not even the sushi. I first stumbled on this place when I was looking for some lunch take out and accidently thought this place was Sarku Japan!! My face was priceless as I walked in and was like oh wow this is not definitely not Sarku Japan lol Thankfully, they offered lunch take out and you also had the option of adding sushi for an additional two dollars. You get a container that you can fill with as much food as you like and the only stipulation was that it had to close. They did not weigh it and I thought this was a good deal. Sakura offers your typical Asian Buffet dishes like crab legs, fried rice, various soups and of course sushi! You know its fresh when they are rolling sushi on the spot so I was really happy I came here. The décor is really nice and since then, I have returned with co-workers and they also loved the freshness and variety of dishes this place offers. I've been so starving that by the time I remember to take pictures of the food, it's already gone! But you won't be disappointed by eating at this establishment so check it out :) read more

They have a variety of foods and some very interesting options as well. They have a good assortment of sushi. The sushi was what you would expect from a buffet in that it was ok but no real standouts. They had sashimi in a cup and I'm not sure what kind it was but it was horrible. Stick to the tuna and salmon sashimi if they have it. Overall, this fills a craving for lots of options and sushi and a decent price point. read more

Their sushi quality is pretty good! Not exactly the FRESHEST but cut well and they do NOT over pack the sushi rice. 3. Their roll selections are not the average joe sushi roll options! 4. Pretty good service, never had a bad waiter or waitress here. They do not hover but are great at refilling my water and clearing my plates 5. There are three criteria I look for that makes for a good buffet; freshness, presentation and variety and Sakura has it all. This is only my second time here. The first time we came for lunch and last night we came here for dinner on a cold, rainy night. Hands down, they have some of the freshest sushi for a buffet in this area. It was a packed restaurant tonight, they did a great job in keeping the sushi bar full. We always start off with some sushi and sashimi. My family and I all love their sashimi bowls which were served with some ponzu sauce. Very light and delectable. Then we will make our way to the hot food. Lots of choose from. Here are some of the items that I think they do well in. I was so excited to see that they were serving one of my favorite hot soups, fish maw. Add a bit of vinegar and you're good to go. I also love all their hot dessert soups, snow fungus, taro w/coconut milk and red bean soup. Lately I have not enjoyed red bean soup from other places because it's too sweet and grainy. Here they make it perfect. OMG, I wanted to drink the whole pot! They have a great selection of seafood items. If you love lobster, try to make your way there first. The tray is always empty because everybody loves lobster, including me. Once they refill it, it's gone in minutes. Service was on point tonight. The servers were good at taking our plates away. 3.5 stars because: It's a good quality buffet with offerings that rotate and keep things fresh. It's not 4 stars completely but it is better than a 3. This is my new go to place when I'm in the mood for a buffet (which come on, I am a pig, so I frequently am). It's in the middle range of prices for what it is. Lunch is a better deal but then you don't get the more expensive stuff that comes out at Dinner (common). The decore and seating area is spacious and modern and clean. Great marks there. The staff is also prompt, friendly and cleans dishes on time. More good marks. The food offering rotates and it's not always the same, though there are many things that do stay constant. It's pretty good quality for a buffet honestly. It's better than many that I've been to, even for the places where you order AYCE from a paper. It's not going to be the best sushi you've eaten, but you will never get that from a buffet anyway. They have put out things that I thought were on the more expensive side and made my meal even more worth it. For example they've had sauteed lobster, steamed crab legs, oysters, clams and dungeness. All of these tasted pretty good too! I was very surprised. All in all, I enjoy coming here and so far recommend it to anyone who wants a buffet meal with decent quality sushi. read more

Wow! Sakura has really upped their game and seem to have corrected all of the flaws I pointed out in my last review! Improvements: - Almost all the food was labeled. - The wasabi was served with a knife instead of tongs. Thank God. - The waitress refilled our tea cups instead of brining new cups. - The food improved by 1000%! Not sure if the wider selection of sushi, authentic Asian food, and desserts was due to improvements in the restaurant itself or because I came on a weekend instead of a weekday. Last time I complained about a lack of diversity in the sushi options. Now they have every complicated roll you can think of (Pink Lady, Crunch Roll, Dragon Roll, etc) that were very good. In an attempt to be different, the boring rolls (e.g. California) were made with sticky black rice. The most unique roll was the bagel roll, which had cream cheese filling. Regarding the hot food line, gone were the chicken tenders and General Tso's chicken. The only Americanised dishes were chicken with broccoli and French fries. In their place were a wide selection of spicy Szechuan dishes (the Szechuan shrimp is to die for) and many dim-sum-esque dishes like shumai. Sakura seems to have gotten the memo about the desserts typically offered at sushi buffets. They now have two fridges of puddings and cheesecakes, as well as a quaint selection of fruit and cakes. My favorite was the carrot cake, which seemed to have a hint of ginger. Complaints: The string beans were extremely undercooked, almost raw. The crab legs tasted fishy as if it had been sitting out for a while. Saturday lunch price is only a few dollars more expensive than the weekday lunch price ($17 as opposed to $15). I assumed that Sunday would be the same, but Sunday lunch and dinner are the same price, instead I had to pay whopping $25 pp. If I had known it would have been this expensive, I would have just gone to sushi palace. read more

Update 2024: Sakura has been on a decline of food quality (undercooked shumai, stale desserts, poorly prepared eggplant, green beans, plantains, & others were all halfway cooked on today's visit alone!). Trays of popular dishes were left empty for 20 minutes or longer. Hostess was unwelcoming to say the least and table service was equally apathetic. Overall I think the management has failed to maintain their previously acceptable standards. Perfect example is the toilet in the women's restroom which has been broken and sealed shut with tape for over a year (believe me, I kept track wondering if they would ever renovate the rundown restrooms!). So, the consensus of opinions in our group of 4 which has been eating here repeatedly is that we're on the hunt for a better experience than what Sakura is presently offering. Fact of the matter is that this buffet does not do anything good, which is absolutely fine. There are buffets at certain price points with certain qualities to meet certain needs of certain people. This place had a rude hostess who did not appear friendly at all. Must have been cracking under the pressure of the grand opening. It's a sushi buffet, but I've never seen as much diversified use of fake crab meat, which is a staple in American sushi to achieve low costs. They put all kinds of sauces to hide the inferior quality of the sushi. The picture shows the area where the actual sushi (with salmon, tuna, etc.) was placed, and it was always empty.. Not because it was so good, but because they only had two guys dedicated to meeting the demand of a 150+ people room. The hot foods were also mediocre. For this, they have the audacity to charge $24 per person. That is like charging $13 for a California Roll. If you are looking for a sushi place, just go to sushi palace and pay less. If you're looking for American chinese hot food, there are a bunch of $12 buffets that do a similar job, or just go to panda express. read more

Ok listen, this ain't Nobu or some high end sushi restaurant. This is a self-service sushi/Japanese/Chinese/Asian/random stuff buffet. It is great for what it is, nothing more. The indoor decor was modern and clean. I still see some remnants of the old Mt. Fuji restaurant (Sakura is better). I remember driving by this place opening weekend and seeing lines of people coming out the door. High expectations, demand vs supply, and opening day kinks must be why initial reviews of these place was so negative. I came weeks after opening day on a Friday afternoon for lunch and this place exceeded my expectations. Breakdown: Japanese sushi: rolls were typical and good. A lot of flavor combinations. The sushi with the fish on top (nigiri style) were ok, not very fresh/flavorful but average to average+. Chinese food: very good selection and taste. The lo mein was better than most chinese takeout joints I've been to! Overall, good value for lunch especially. Bill came out to ~$30 for two adults, no drinks (not including tip). I can see how some people might complain if they paid ~$25/pp for dinner because they may say they can get slightly better sushi at an ayce made to order sushi place BUT Sakura is the only game in town for self-serve ayce. This is huge for people who like to see what they're getting and parents with young children who want the option to move at their own pace (basically run in, grab what you want, stuff your face before your kids start getting antsy, pay and leave). Came here on Christmas for a family dinner. The place was packed. Wait time wasn't too bad. The decor was nice. Overall had a good experience. The variety was good but the flavors were hit or miss. They did use good quality proteins. Downside. Whenever the more pricey dishes would come out, for example sautéed crabs, the guest would take it all right away. If you snoozed you'd loose for sure in this place. Technically this is not the restaurant's fault because they did try to serve some items on small bowls for example, the jumbo salt and pepper shrimp was served individual, so guest would only take 1 bowl at a time but of course that wasn't the case for these hungry guests. What they can do, if your noticing that certain dishes are more popular then others then make more of it. I believe they slowed down the refilling process because those were the more pricier items. Further turned off by the brusqueness of the wait staff who couldn't wait the ten seconds it would have taken my wife to decide what she wanted to drink once we were told it was Pepsi products. And then even more turned off when she didn't come back to the table for five more minutes (and we just got up and went to the buffet). All that being said, the food was surpassingly good. A nice variety of fresh sushi and good Chinese style goods. A lot of non-traditional stuff that most Americans don't eat, and neither would I probably, but nice that it isn't all the typical fare. We went there to celebrate a graduation for a party of 7 on Sunday around 2:15 PM. The hostess met us and was immediately non accommodating. She states we only have table for 6 and not 7. We offered to split up our group at two tables but she immediately said no! We were immediately turned away. I would never refer anyone to this business. Food looked scarce. I went here for lunch on a saturday in Hopes of enjoying it. Well that didnt happen. Lol. They did update it beautifully and its very clean and spacious. The staff were very attentive and quick. As for the food, the salad and sushi bar was extensive. It was okay, mediocre at best. They had a lot of banchan and little salads. The kimchi was horrible it wasnt spicy and tasted like it was mixed with ketchup. Their sushi wasnt that spectacular either. They did label everything which was convenient. As for the hot bar, their wasnt anything worthy of talking about. The food was also luke warm at best. Not even hot. As for taste very bland. They did have a very eclectic variety, but it was all over and not consistent. If you're going to have that many choices at least make them taste edible or delicious. They did have many desserts. They had 2 kinds of cheesecake, little asian cakes and alot of fruit. Dinner they offer individual name brand ice creams. So not worth another check in, very disappointed. I wanted to try this place for a while. My family and I really enjoy sushi and Asian food in general. The sushi was really bad. My kids have been to a few sushi places and absolutely love sushi. None of them liked the sushi at all. I kept trying different ones hoping to find something I liked. No luck. It was just bad. The quality didn't seem good. The hot food wasn't bad. But I don't pay $26.95 for some Chinese food I can get for $15 that can feed two people. The price wouldn't have been an issue if the food was good. There is something great about this place. It is clean and the people are very very nice. My daughter didn't like the food so she didn't eat at all after trying one bite. They did not charge me for her. The servers were nice. Had somewhat a good expectation for Sakura. The outside looks very appealing however, the food here isn't the greatest for what you are paying for ($25 pp) If you are a sushi person, would not recommend coming here. The sushi here is not fresh and had so much saucing and tasted too sweet in my opinion. Other than that, the place is huge and has lots of seating, so don't think there would be a problem if it were to be busy. read more

Though I feel like the quality of a buffet differs from time to time, my recent visit to Sakura has been really good. My friends (they came from New York) and I enjoyed a delicious dinner here while the waiters were very attentive. We went near closing time and were worried if some of the food would be out. The lobster was one of the main things that my friends were looking forward to eating. During our visit, the lobster was cleared out. However, after asking the staff for more, they were happy to tell us that they were preparing another batch very soon. All the food tasted great and differed immensely from other buffet areas that I have tried so far. Hopefully, this quality will continue to stick with Sakura, as it is still a new store. read more

Update: been here a few times since Covid since my hubby wants to see if their good again. Covid restrictions are in place still. Most tables are still social distance. Wear gloves and mask while in the restaurant. The food is average. Most of it is overheated or just out in the open too long. I went here on a Sunday night for dinner with my mom. And I'm so glad they've finally replaced the old sushi buffet that use to be here. Sakura is pretty good. The sushi rolls aren't the best in town.. but they have a lot of sashimi to make up for it. I like how there are octopus slices and fish roe with sea urchin topped off. It was pretty fresh and it was my favorite part. They served a lot of other fish, including sea bass. They had a variety of shrimp, oysters, crab, squid and even lobster. I didn't get to try any lobster because it came in high demand and I felt like they didn't refill it as fast as I had hoped. Great new AYCE sushi spot by my house. We went on a Saturday night and were told there was a 20-30 minute wait. We were called in about that time. Decor was truly the best part of the experience. Lots of cool style details. Sushi was good quality for aYCE but there were a lot of rolls with shrimp tempura. Probably my last time visiting Sakura today for lunch. We brought grandma and babysitter for a holiday lunch with the family. Though AYCE buffet is a bit of a waste on our light eating family, the convenience and variety was what we wanted. The food quality is off somehow. Starting with three types of chicken, it was all tough and chewy. Normally sesame chicken is tender, but today I was chewing on it like rubber. The fried rice had corn in it and had an unusual taste. Many of the dishes seem to have an unusual taste. The sushi is made with poor ingredients, thus all of the sauces and trickery (seasoning and spicy sauce ;) The salmon was excellent but in short supply, the plate emptying instantly each time salmon was offered and then 20 minutes before salmon was offered again. Being light eaters, and horrified at how the adjoining tables's eaters were shoveling food, we didn't expect to get a bill with them charging me full price for my 10 year old! I called attention to this, especially because he didn't like the food and only ate two chicken skewers and an ice cream. They took him up to measure him and told me he is 5'. I just measured him and he is a full three quarters of an inch under 5'. I found it very petty and cheap of them to up charge my 10 year old to an adult when he barely ate anything, and them arguing over it his height. I didn't bother to go with them to check, not wanting to be petty like the manager. I just paid, tipped the wait staff, and left not to return. Overall, the variety is great, quality is good with sub-standard ingredients, chicken cooked like rubber, and an off-taste in many dishes. Discount or not, I won't be back. That's the problem with AYCE restaurants. While they probably lost money on the next table, they certainly made it back on us. read more

This was a great value and a fantastic time. The sushi there is very fresh and since the sushi bar is part of the buffet they are always refilling and replacing fresh sushi. I can talk about sushi all day and how the sauce bar on the right had everything from spicy mayo to teriyaki sauce but that would do a injustice to the hot food they serve as well. The seafood selection was pretty good and the fresh oysters were my favorite. I personally loved the chicken and broccoli. Overall I had a very positive experience and plan on coming back!
