Ichigo Daifuku (Strawberry Mochi). I would have posted a whole one but we ate them

Our first time buying from Sakura Soup Company at the CSM farmers market. We bought Ichigo Daifuku (Strawberry Mochi) and it is amazingly delicious . So fresh sweet and i love the blend of mochi, adzuki beans and fresh strawberries I also bought fresh ramen noodles, tonkotsu sauce and marinated pork belly. I will make that soon and post again. If it's anything like the Ichigo Daifuku, it will be delicious. Glad we went to the Farmers market and discovered Sakura Soup Company booth! Please check them out. I think Tomo helped me she was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back for more in the near future.

Got the chicken pho soup base this time from the Outer Sunset farmer's market and I love it! It makes great chicken pho and has that depth of flavor you're looking for in a pho broth. You can taste the chicken and the aromatics. It's so good and makes pho so easy to make!

We heard about their booth at the Concord Farmer's Market. People have been hyping up their fresh strawberry mochi. We found their stand and met with the friendly gentleman. We ended up with 8 total mochi. We also bought two of their ramen soup bases (tonkotsu and black garlic) and a package of their fresh ramen. The mochi was excellent. The soup base and noodles were restaurant quality in flavor and texture. We'll definitely be back for more.

Located at the San Mateo Farmer's Market this place offers concentrated ramen broth on squeeze bottles to take home and make your own broth by adding water. They cost $10 a bottle. Ramen cost $9, and 2 pieces of strawberry mochi is $7. They also sell black garlic to add to your ramen. Good variety, no lines. When I brought it home to try, I found I needed more base than the instructions say to make it more flavorful and also needed much more water. I was expecting a richer flavor instead of that weird packet ramen taste. I literally ended up using almost 1/2 the bottle because there wasn't enough flavor with the 2 tablespoons they suggested. Even though this isn't a dry packet, that's what it tasted like to me. It doesn't taste as good as fresh broth, and it is expensive for what you get, but in a pinch, I guess you can try it out.

The strawberry mochi is bliss inducing. Highly recommend trying. There are two stages in life: life before ichigo daifuku and life after.

Definitely join the Yelp waitlist! It was a good meal. Highly recommend the chicken karaage as an appetizer. Nice batter on the outside and juicy on the inside. I've been wanting to try their dipping ramen, so I got the spicy tsukemen. It really didn't taste spicy to me. Good quantity - the noodles felt endless! Decent sized space! I'd come back again if I was craving dipping noodles.

It packed up real quick. First, the service was great. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. They had their eyes on the dining room at all times. Ready to help. And I noticed a few guys in the kitchen laughing and smiling while working. It made me feel good to see them enjoying themselves in that moment. And of course, the ramen was great. I got the dipping noodles and my hubby got "traditional" . Both were good but I enjoyed dipping mine into that rich broth. *warning - do not wear a white shirt. The calamari was also really good! Had a beer and sake. Will go back and try cocktails next time.

Both times I've come I hadn't had to wait very long and our second time was with a large group including kids. Our server was great in helping us preorder before we could get seated and we only waited 15 minutes. We all ordered the same things: half of us ordered the original aburasoba and the other half ordered the homura aburasoba and the food came out quickly. They kindly gave us little bowls for the kiddos and forks and all the kids loved the noodles and the adults shared a large pitcher of beer. All in all, best aburasoba and one of my favorite spots in San Mateo!

The seating inside is pretty tight so your table is basically an inch from the next one, almost like a communal dining experience. Nikumori Aburasoba ($18.50): Spicy pork, pork slices, green onion, and ajitama. The spicy ground pork was delicious and they were generous with the thin pork slices, though those weren't as good as the ground pork. The ajitama was perfectly jammy. The aburasoba flavors were okay but less flavorful than mazesoba, which I now know I prefer. Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba ($25.50) + Chashu ($1.75) + Spicy Minced Pork ($3.95) + Ajitama ($2.50): Wagyu roast beef, crispy onions, green onions, butter onion sauce, yogurt sauce, and raw egg yolk. The chashu was average but the wagyu roast beef was thin and incredibly tender. The yogurt sauce and raw egg yolk made this one pretty creamy which I actually liked more than the Nikumori. Ume ($1.50): Did not like this at all. Hard pass.

Sometimes, it can get busy and server might take a while with getting our check back but I totally understand. Having 1-2 server out in a packed restaurant can be tough. Crispy rice with spicy tuna was great. I really enjoyed my tonkotsu ramen. The broth was super rich and you can tell it's well made for hours+. Noodles were chewy, pork was tender, additional sauces on the side came the dish extravagant. Truly my to go ramen place that I always recommend everyone to go try!

Many of the pieces were also badly burned, and they were put right on top of the rice. The burnt pieces gave the entire rice a strong ash-like, burnt taste, which made the dish very unpleasant to eat. What made the experience worse was seeing the server sitting at the counter playing on their phone instead of paying attention to the customers or the food. I expected much better from HiroNori. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be coming back.

The classic ramen was comforting and well-balanced, with a rich broth and noodles that had a nice chewy texture. It's a solid, no-frills bowl that delivers on flavor and warmth. The soft shell crab ramen stood out the most. The crab was crispy on the outside and tender inside, adding a unique texture and flavor that paired really well with the broth. It felt more elevated and interesting compared to a standard ramen bowl. The karaage was also crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, making it a great side to share alongside the ramen. Service was friendly and efficient, and the staff kept things moving even when it got busy. The vibe is casual and lively, with a popular local ramen shop feel. It's the kind of place that's great for a comforting meal without being too formal. Overall, a great spot for ramen lovers, especially if you want both classic and more creative options in one visit. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

We ordered a Shugetsu Tsukemen special and a Shugetsu Ramen. They let you add more noodles at no extra charge. We saw the pork slices getting charcoal(?) grilled in the back! For the tsukemen, I opted for hot noodles. They're a bit clingier when hot, but have a great bite to them. The soup is a little on the sour side, but it was delicious. There's little bits of pork and menma in it, and it clung to the noodles well. Definitely recommend the extra egg and pork! The ramen was equally amazing. The broth was light yet hearty. I used to get one Shugetsu Tsukemen Special on my own, but it's been harder and harder for me to finish one by myself. Now, I order a Shugetsu Tsukemen Special with the mega size, get side orders of the chashu pork and marinated egg, and split with my boyfriend (since the Special already comes with pork and egg for one person, the a la carte orders are enough for a second). The broth is super flavorful, smoky, and roasty. Keep in mind the broth does err on the more oily side for the more health-conscious folks, and I wouldn't wear white, as the broth might splash back as you eat! The restaurant doesn't have a flashy storefront and is rather more hidden in the marketplace it's in. Be cautious about leaving valuables in your car. The inside itself is also not too big, so that on top of its popularity is why there might be a wait. I would also recommend coming earlier than typical meal times. While the hype has definitely died down ever since they opened during Covid, it's still pretty popular so I would be prepared to wait. I highly recommend trying out Shugetsu, and definitely recommend coming hungry because the portions are huge! They recently opened another location in Fremont, so East Bay folks get to try this one out there too.
