Sushi wasn't bad. I had the Red Volcano roll. Not spicy like it says I'm the food description but still tasty. They give you good portions for the money you spend for food on the hibachi. The miso soup was tasty enough that my 4 year old son liked it. This is a poor man's Benihana, u like the ones I'm used to in Los Angeles. But it's good. Some of the sushi roll options had me scratching my head. They didn't make sense as roll I would want to try. I went to this location with my friends. The waitress was good, she dealt with my crazy friends and how they kept changing their orders. The food was not as good as I have had at other places. The rice was burnt. I still ate it with yum yum sauce, but some of the people at my table did not eat the rice because the rice was super burnt. My steak was fine, but my shrimp was burned as well. This was the third time we've gone to this location. The first two times we all did hibachi and it was good. Tonight, we did sushi and chicken teriyaki. First, the salad was all watery, like a pool of water at the bottom, didn't actually know why that was like that. The sushi tasted funny and the rolls were rolled really sloppy. The chicken was really dry and bland, and the tomyum sauce was also watered down. Now I don't know if it was accidentally poured in but it just seemed like every thing was watered down, literally. The one star is for the soup, it was actually good. Everything was sub par. It's really unfortunate because we liked this place. The sashimi was fresh and thick cut, which was a nice value. There was wasabi tucked underneath however (I did not mind it) that I wish was either mentioned in the menu or the option presented once I ordered. This can ruin the sushi for many people and although it did not overpower this time, I can see some less experienced palates finding it off putting. I used to look forward to eating here on special occasions when I was a kid, now my own children do the same. Food is a bit pricey, but right on par with the rest of the Japanese steakhouses in the area and lightyears better. Last my wife visited the Woodbridge VA location and almost fainted and as a result injured her hand against the chair. She was taken away by an ambulance after asking the manager to dail 911, after requesting for them to call 911 several times. When my friend and I came to pickup the car keys from the manager, we were shocked to see that he had the bill ready for my wife and my daughter's meal and would not give us the keys until we paid. All they ate prior to the medics ariving was a salad!! I was amazed that we were worrying about my daughter and all the manager cared about was "the bill" and that we both were wearing a soccer jersey (no joke, he wanted to make small talk about what we were wearing while my wife is at the hospital). He had the food ready to take home and was sitting on the counter. Our family of four has been regular customers (2-3 times a month) and I am digusted with the customer service. I come here quite often, but only ever for lunch. Dinner almost doubles everything in price. My family almost always eats at the Hibachi grill and 9 times out of 10 our food is perfect. The only complaint we have ever had were the mushrooms were undercooked once. The Filet Mignon is spectacular and is a steal at lunch, the shrimp, and chicken are also quite good. The serving sizes are huge, so you will never leave hungry. I have ordered both the sushi and sashimi platters while at the grill with my family and they have both been good. They are definitely not the best sushi I have ever had, but they are good. The onion soup is always delicious and we suggest getting them over the salad (it is free to switch them out). As far as staff, everyone is always pleasant. Someone mentioned the chef's being quiet, but that is only if you do not speak to them and are more engrossed in your conversation. Otherwise everyone is friendly and more than willing to talk to you about what they are doing or cooking in general. We have always had a great time here. Placed an order through DoorDash asking to call me if there's any issues. 45 mins later, get the call that they cannot make several of my items to reorder. So I removed the items and replaced the order for the rest. 45+ minutes later, got another call telling me that they cannot one of the items. At the end of the day, waited almost two hours and still no food. I understand that things could be limited, but if there's an issue with an order, call as soon as the order is received not 10 minutes before the order should be delivered. read more

This has been by far the best hibachi experience I've had. Our server, John, was absolutely phenomenal. He checked on us frequently and made sure we were always taken care of and that our drinks were never empty. I ordered an off-menu alcoholic beverage, which came out perfect, so props to the bartender. Typical hibachi place. Their wow factor, however, is their chefs. Especially George. He's Honduran, but does a great job with Japanese cuisine. His rice and veggies are always amazing and cooked to perfection. Plus, nobody cooks a filet-mignon like him. Medium well perfection every time. Funny, too. And really great with kids. Other great chefs are Grant, who does amazing tricks and tells the corniest jokes that you just have to laugh at, JJ who's a big teddy bear who's hilarious and makes delicious noodles, Tony who makes for great conversation and isn't stingy with the sauces. But George, or Jorge, is the pick of the lot in my opinion. Good place, great food, even better people. read more

This was one of the first times I fell in love with Hibachi cooking. Our chef was very funny and kept the kids occupied long enough for us to enjoy our meal. We have also sat at the sushi bar on more than one occasion. The fish is always fresh and the rolls are tasty. I will warn you that some nights the sushi bar gets backed up with only two chefs.. I have gone here ever since I was a child growing up in the area. This is a popular place for birthdays and holidays for all kinds of people. When you walk in there is a sushi bar and normal seating. Past that, there is the actual Japanese steakhouse classic experience. Honestly, if you go there and not have any special requirements, you will be fine. I am fair, I actually gave Sakura two chances (since there weren't many places to get Japanese food close to my house). I was not impressed either time. If you have never seen Teppanyaki cooking before, then cool round up the family and go for the SHOW but nothing more! I have to be honest though, the cooking show is the run of the mill same old tricks all Teppanyaki places do. So it's really nothing spectacular, unless you've never seen one before. The fried rice, which I believe comes with anything you order, was hard...both times. The sushi smelled fishy. I know this may sound weird since sushi is fish, but it is under no circumstances, to smell fishy! Sakura has since moved to a newer location across the street from their old location, I hope they left their hard rice and fishy sushi behind. read more

This is our local go to sushi place in the Bridge. I love the service and I can easily kill 3 sushi rolls myself! (and a share plate of hibachi with my hubby). I really like the sushi and they always have great specials. I really like that they bring you little cucumber salad apps. I feel like you get a lot for your money here. We usually eat at the sushi bar, but you can order hibachi from there as well. We have never had to wait here once and our server is always extremely friendly (generally the same girl). There's not a lot of sushi options in Woodbridge, but I would pick this as my number 1 here locally. read more

I met my friend here Friday night for a girls night out. I usually stay in Manassas to eat hibachi at my favorite restaurant Akasaka. But she wanted to venture out to Woodbridge and eat here. We waited only about 10 minutes for a table wasn't bad and probably another 10-15 minutes for the table to fill up with other patrons. I ordered some spicy tuna Maki and the shrimp flambé with fried rice. There Yum Yum sauce looked and tasted very different for what I'm used to. I did not like it at all and neither did my friend. The sushi did not look fresh or taste fresh at all. The entrée was OK. It could have used a little more flavor. The show that our chef put one was nice. The chef we had was interesting. He was funny but in a very sarcastic way. Which some at our table didn't appreciate. I'm only giving this place two stars because they are onion soup and their salad was good. Otherwise I do not recommend this place to anyone and I would never go back.I have ate at much better hibachi places than this. Akasaka and Sumo in Manassas and Osaka in Gainesville are just a few MUCH superior hibachi restaurants than this one. read more

I had dinner at Sakura for my birthday this past weekend with my family (party of 6), and I had an amazing time! We didn't have reservations but we were seated promptly. Our hibachi chef was Jake. He kept us laughing and entertained all night. You get a lot of food for your buck and it tastes great (Jake was also mindful of our dietary restrictions/allergies). I regular this place frequently! I get red carpet treatment EVERY SINGLE TIME! The sushi is the best in town! Chef Eric is ALWAYS letting me sample all kids of wonderful dishes. I have been to a couple of different teppanyaki restaurants, and to get the full experience you need to get the right chef. You really need to have someone that really puts on a show. Our chef this time was not the best one that I have ever had but he was pretty good. The food was cooked well and his tricks were pretty good. It looked like leftovers and the sushi I ordered was just slapped together. I spent 53 dollars, completely disappointed by the service. I will never go here again. Tokyo one in lorton is 10x better. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I've been coming here for years! Since they moved locations and everything. I have been a loyal customer and have always had a great experience whether it be dine-in or carry out. Tonight was less than sub-par. I called in to place a carry out order and was greeted promptly by a very bubbly young lady. I ordered my 2 teppanyaki entrees, Teriyaki Chicken, with fried rice and chicken livers, and the filet and chicken with fried rice and shrimp. Then a sushi roll. I was told the wait would be 25 minutes and we said our goodbyes. I showed up at just about the 30 minute mark to pick up my food. I was told to go to the sushi counter. I then asked the gentleman at the sushi counter for my order and he hands me a receipt with only the sushi roll on it. I explained that I had ordered two entrees, he excused himself and returned to tell me that the host must have lost my entree order and I would have to wait. I understand that mistakes happen, and told him I would leave and come back. He was very polite and assured me he would try and rush the order. I left and came back about 15 minutes later. Received my order, asked for some extra sauce and left. As soon as I came home, overly excited for my food, I opened my carry out container to disappointment. My appetizer of chicken livers consisted of 3 pieces of liver, smaller than the size of a quarter. They were bland, and not seasoned the way they are normally. I then moved to my "teriyaki" chicken that was also very under seasoned and completely lacking the so called teriyaki sauce. I followed with a bite of rice that also didn't taste the the standard fried rice I had grown to love with the yum yum sauce and seasoning. Just bland. I then decided to open my boyfriends order to see that his chicken looked the same as mine, and the steak (Surprise!) was also super bland! Needless to say, I have NEVER had these issues before, and it totally bums me out the standards, even for what may have been a rushed order, fell through.
