I will not come back here. The only person who knows what's going on is the only black gentleman I saw working there. The service was so bad. They gave us the wrong dish and then they picked it up after our hands touched the plate and gave it to another table. The spicy Jin ramen had a smell to it. I refused to eat it. The pork smelled like rotten old pork. Oh my goodness. Like I've never wanted to actually call the health dept the pork looked so old. The chashu bun was so sadly mediocre I could have gotten a frozen one from global foods and heated it up at my house and it would have tasted better. Water had no ice, I had to ask for plates and napkins, the potato business was ok, fire dragon roll my son liked. The black guy with the green shirt working there actually said "are yall STILL waiting on your check, my goodness". Then he checked us out at a different register. He clearly looked annoyed. I was really disappointed with my experience at Sushi Jin. I ordered the Scallop Dynamite because the menu indicated it was a cooked item. Since I'm currently pregnant, I intentionally avoided raw seafood and chose this dish believing it would be fully cooked. When I received it, the scallops were only partially cooked. I contacted the restaurant immediately without eating the dish and asked if I could return it for a refund. Instead of acknowledging the issue, I was told that although the roll is baked, "that does not mean every item in there is cooked," and that I should have called ahead to ask about dietary restrictions. I don't think it's reasonable to expect customers to call and verify whether a menu item labeled as cooked is actually fully cooked. If a dish is marketed as cooked or baked, most customers would understandably assume the seafood itself is fully cooked. I even offered to return the untouched food so they could inspect it themselves. Despite that, the only resolution offered was store credit, even though I made it clear I didn't want another order--I simply wanted a refund for a product that wasn't as I reasonably expected. The disappointing part wasn't just the food--it was the customer service. Rather than taking responsibility or showing concern, they repeatedly shifted the responsibility onto the customer. If you're pregnant, immunocompromised, or simply prefer fully cooked seafood, I recommend asking detailed questions before ordering, as "baked" or "cooked" on the menu may not mean what you expect. read more

We came in here a little later than intended and we wanted to order and be done before the closed so I understand the server beeing a little more apprehensive. We asked if it was okay to eat in and they said yes and sat us. While I first server seemed unhappy to be there, another server ended up being very nice and was helpful foe the rest of the service. We ordered the Spicy Jin Ramen, the Russian Roulette Roll, the Shinjuku Murderer Roll, the Osaka Street Roll, The Crispy Shrimp vs Sweet Crab Roll, and the Memory of Geisha Roll. Sushi Jin, you know exactly what I want. Now, bear in mind this is affordable sushi and ramen, but even that has to be done with a level of consideration and they delivered. I'm not looking for anything ground breaking but what I am looking for is does the description adequately match the food, proportion, and portions. Sushi Jin keeps their rice ratio low, which is good because I hate it when sushi is affordable because they bulk it up with rice. It was well seasoned too, even a basic roll has sesame seeds so theres a variety of texture and flavor even for a simple roll! Not all of the attention was on the fish (which was fresh) which is appreciated! Ramen was kind of an impulse order but I'm glad I did because it lasted me 3 meals. The portions were huge and the meat was very generous. Where you might expect a fatty pork belly style char shu is braised pork, which I appreciate because it keeps the overall eating experience light yet still filling. Went for lunch with a friend today. Was the first time for both of us. The sushi was pretty good, although I ended up scraping the sauce off the top of the Ex-Girlfriend roll. They really like putting sauce on stuff. And speaking of putting sauce on stuff, I ordered steamed edamame as a starter and it arrived slathered in sesame oil and topped with sesame seeds. Why?? My friend commented sarcastically, "Oh great, they found a way to make it fattening." To the owner - please just salt the steamed edamame. It doesn't need anything else, and sesame oil is so overpowering. Everything doesn't need sesame seeds either. Chill out with that. My biggest issue, though, was with the service. Our waiter was a low-talker, and he mumbled. Between that and the music, I literally couldn't understand anything he said. My friend had to jump in and tell him he needed to talk louder. He didn't, he just started talking only to her. We met a friend and her daughter for lunch right when Sushi Jin opened at noon. We already had a table waiting for us. I think my friend called ahead. Staff came to serve and wait on us immediately. They were attentive and friendly as well as able to answer all of our questions about the menu. The first thing I noticed was that the floor was slippery. My shoes were slipping and sliding on the floor, but we didn't have to walk far into the restaurant. We sat with our backs to the rest of restaurant and faced the door so I could not appreciate the decor of the restaurant. However, my friend and her daughter commented on the anime figurines on the shelves behind us. So the food was delicious - the chicken teriyaki skewer was perfect. The teriyaki sauce was sweet, but not too sweet. One of the servers brought us an extra cup of teriyaki just in case we needed it. Once we tore into the pieces of chicken, we dipped the chicken into the extra sauce! Perfect!! My daughter reported that the gyoza was amazing! She always tries gyoza any place we go that offers it. We all tried the different sushi pieces. The California roll was as expected. Nothing was a surprise there. The shrimp tempura roll was also good - no surprises. The Boston Roll was good and nothing we'd had before. Shrimp tempura rolls are usually a favorite of mine, so I did wish the Boston roll had tempura shrimp in it instead. I did not try the white tail tuna, as I do not choose raw sushi. Husband and friend said it was good, but the avocado piece in it was too big causing the texture to be mushy. If you're not a fan of hard boiled eggs, ask them not to add it. It is a hearty soup and pretty filling. They also have a variety of sushi to order, to include rolls, nigiri and sashimi styles . If you get the sashimi style (straight raw fish slices) try it with warm sake... it's the best! Edamame and pan fried vs deep fried gyoza are great appetizers. While the food is great, the service is consistently poor. Staff have generally been friendly when we've eaten here, but I think they've been set up for failure by the environment/system at the restaurant. The front staff share tables, with no one person assigned as a server for a table. When this works, I'm sure it works well. The problem is we've never experienced this working on a visit for us. Our most recent experience happened to be the worse thus far. Our table was forgotten multiple times, we didn't receive enough silverware or waters for the table, all three orders had errors and we had to request multiple times for missing items. Once the missing items were delivered, we had other staff come up to ask what our table was missing. We've had issues here or there before, but never so much in one night. We've been coming here regularly for about a year and have noticed that the staff frequently changes. It makes sense that the service would be generally poor as staff isn't able to stay long enough to do well in the role. We were told that the owners keep tips and none of the staff receives them. If true, it's understandable why no one would hang around and work here very long. We've been back despite the poor service because the food truly is so great. That's the only reason I'll maintain 2 stars for this review. The menu is varied, good quality, and the sushi rolls are delicious. However, we'll be taking a break from Sushi Jin for a bit after our recent bad experience. If you're in Stonebridge looking for somewhere to eat, I recommend checking out Dok Khao instead. read more

This place has good food and service, but it has to work on it. I enjoyed white tuna nijiri, crab and lobster roll and mushroom ginger soup. I like to sit, relax and catch up on things on my phone while I dine. I received a phone call during my meal and kept getting interrupted by the young server!! How is everything?.. as she looks at my phone. The final annoyance happened as I am literally drinking my soup!!!!!!! WTH. I've been to Sushi Jin at least five times once when they first opened, but the a/c didn't work, and it was unbearably hot, so I didn't return for over a year. Now I've been back three times in the last two months). The food is delicious. I've had the pork Raman, a couple of different types of sushi (burning love, Roll-ex, and Louisiana Hero). On this visit, my sister came (first visit) and my son. My son had ordered the steamed dumplings, which he enjoys, and they are often really good. I called the pork Raman--which I've had before, and it was terrific; this time, it seemed a little under seasoned on the meat but still a tasty broth. I also ordered the burning love (which was good but tasted like a California roll made with inexpensive ingredients and an increased price). The thing that drives this place down is SERVICE! My sister ordered the tempura shirks, which came with some veggies (nice touch), but her chicken Raman was not made. When the server acknowledged our table, we informed her and three other people about our wait (42 mins total--after we told them of the missing food). The server offered to give us something to make up while we waited; we politely refused because mistakes happened, but we did not expect a 42 min wait to put noodles in a to-go container and broth literally. We paid for the meal (still left a tip--because servers still need to make money), but the Service here leaves a lot to be desired! I'll certainly think twice before coming back. read more

Everything was absolutely delicious! The service was...okay. She was nice and took our orders and had our drinks to us in decent time. My only gripe is how new she was and could have been a little too young to be serving alcoholic drinks, I asked some simple questions about the drinks and she wasn't able to answer, also didn't know what was in stock. SAME-DAY UPDATE: I am changing my review from 2 stars to 4 stars because great service is not just when there are issues...but also actions taken when there are issues. And the fact the the owner reached out quickly to take accountability and attempt to rectify the situation (with zero ask for the review to be removed) makes up for this hopefully one-off negative experience. Preface by saying this review is not regarding the food, which we've had before and would rate 3.5 stars. This review is specifically related to the overall service experience on Sunday night which caused us to go elsewhere, which was a shame because our boys wanted japanese ramen and this is the only place in Woodbridge that serves it. Strike 1 - Waited at the host stand for at least 5 minutes before we were acknowledged, even though there were several workers in green Sushi Jin shirts walking back and forth and only a couple tables were occupied. Strike 2 - We were eventually told to seat ourselves but every empty booth we tried had not been cleaned. We sat at the least dirtiest booth and had to flag someone down to clean the table, which was still was not done immediately. Strike 3 - Eventually someone asked if we got menus yet (we did not) and they plopped the menus down on the still yet uncleaned table. All of this would be understandable if they were super busy or short-staffed, but there were more workers there than there were patrons. We ended up going somewhere else because if the service was already subpar before we could even order, chances of a pleasant dining experience were likely slim to none. Not sure if everyone was new but there did not seem to be anyone responsible for front of house, serving, or bussing. If you order from doordash each item is priced up by $4-5 so best to order directly from the restaurant. Food: 4/5 - I thought the gyoza lacked some flavor but l the lobster lasagna was amazing. I thought the Woodbridge roll had a bit too much cream cheese for my taste. I'd definitely come back to try more sushi rolls here. Service: 4/5 - no complaints here. They were very friendly!
