We finally tried SALA Thai after hearing good reviews from locals - but the restaurant is in Lakeville so I'm skeptical of any rave reviews for Thai south of the river. The reviews are valid! It is a tiny place in a strip mall (by Cub and Little Caesars) so ambience is not why you come here. The menu had many authentic Thai dishes, including papaya salad, tom kha gai soup, tom yum soup, and lots of curries and noodle dishes along with favorite Thai starters like spring rolls, egg rolls, chicken satay and gyoza. I went with a coconut curry dish, like a Tom Kha Gai with noodles, and husband got the Pad Thai. Service was fast and the spice level was great. We both ordered medium which was a true medium heat. Non spice fans will want to go with mild. My dish came with a side of pickled papaya - bonus!! I am looking forward to trying more dishes! Again note that it is in a strip mall so take out would probably be a great option. They do not have a liquor license but I will be back for the food. read more

We were looking for some variety and to try somewhere different than our usual go-to, so we checked out SALA Thai Kitchen! Located in a strip mall, there was plenty of parking available. The space itself is quaint, and minimally decorated with some generic artwork and tables. It's pretty obvious that this spot is primarily for takeout, but we had great service eating in. We ordered the special egg rolls and fried dumplings! Both were served incredibly hot, which was great, except we had to be a bit patient before diving in. I had the Panang Curry, which was fresh, had a medium heat to it, and included a great serving of chicken and veggies. I wish it was a bit thicker, but that's mostly a personal preference. We will definitely keep this spot on our list for future takeout opportunities! read more

I was recently talking to someone who has only been in the country five years, originally from Thailand, I asked what is the best Thai food restaurant that she has encountered? She said SALA Thai Kitchen in Lakeville. So we had to come here. The first thing my wife says when she gets in the door is that it looks really clean. We had two delicious appetizers, a more traditional Pork egg roll and shrimp rolls. My wife then ordered the Red Curry with shrimp and she said it was delicious. Everything looked fabulous, and the presentations were very appealing. I ordered the Pad Cashew Nut and this was definitely a great choice as well as a dish without the Thai heat. My wife also had a drink referred to as a Thai Pink Drink that she said was the best pink drink she's ever had. Beats a certain other one hands-down! The ambience is casual and friendly and very welcoming. Cherry, the owner and Nana were delightful and made sure we were taken care of all night. I recommend everybody, if you enjoy Thai food, go to SALA, you will not regret the food, service, or experience! read more

I saw a new Thai place opened up near me and I love Thai food so we did takeout a few weeks ago! We ordered 2 entrees and were missing a serving of rice. Made it hard because all of them really needed rice to go with it. They initially didn't offer a partial refund when asked since they forgot the item - but eventually did after an hour or so. The curry did have a great taste but it was a bit watered down and not as thick as I normally like. Can't speak to the ambiance since I wasn't the one who picked up the food. Wanted to absolutely love this place but I think there are a few things they can improve on. Hope to try it again in the future once they have worked out some kinks. read more

Was super surprised to find a Thai place this good on our trip thru the Great White North of MN. The red curry has some real heat when I asked for "Thai Hot". Thai is among our favorite foods. Our go to for many years has been Taste of Thaiyai, but thought we'd check Sala out. The food is amazing, but what really sets them apart is service, attention to plate presentation. Time and care are taken to create a beautiful dish. You can feel their pride. We love Sala! By far our favorite Thai in the area. If you don't like heat select no heat on really any of the dishes. I would typically get a medium at most Thai restaurants but here I usually get mild and still find it a little spicy. We live a mile away and went to SALA for the first time tonight. The food was great! I had the Red Curry with Shrimp. My wife had the Lo Mein with Pork. Everything was very full of flavor and fresh! We loved it! The wait staff are so nice. It's owned by a sweet young couple. If you're in the area definitely stop in. By the time we left, EVERY table was taken! Ambiance was fine. We dined here last night for the first time. They are in the previous location of a former Vietnamese restaurant called Pho Everest. This place has by far the best Thai food south of the river. When we visited last night, we had some of the BEST Thai food I have ever tasted and I have been to Las Vegas and dined at Lotus Thai which has been listed in the New York times. The staff last night was kind, and very, very attentive. Unfortunately they have been having a hard time getting customers to visit. I had their Khao Soi which is a wheat noodle dish served in a curry broth with pickled mustard greens, boiled egg, cilantro and onions and it was as good as any I have ever tasted. We ordered their chicken satay and it was hot, tender and moist, my wife tried their pad thai and it was absolutely delicious and we finished off with mango and sticky rice. I am hoping to get as many people as I can to visit them so they can stay in business. I kid you not, we have a gem of a restaurant in our midst that needs our help and I know we can help them make it. I have also appealed to Tony Cu (if you know who he is and if you don't he's become kind of a local food celebrity that posts videos on TikTok and Youtube) to ask him to stop in and give them a visit. Went there tonight with Daughter. Got there at 7. We got our food before 730. Server was great. Food was delicious. We shared the chicken Pad Thai and some cheese wontons. Everything was good. I am glad to have a Thai restaurant nearby. I know we have Joys Thai and Taste of Thai in Apple Valley. But to have another option nearby is a great thing.
