My first memories of Sala Thai were probably over 20 years ago and I was so pleased to see Miss Nancy when we dropped by over the weekend. One of my best friends lived in the northwest part of the city and we frequented Sala Thai and especially loved the Tom Kha soup. There have been major updates to the interior decor since I have been here. They have the place looking really nice and inviting. I have always loved the architecture of the building and would love to know what was here before it was Sala Thai. We decided to get some items to take home with us and ordered the Tom Kha (of course!) with chicken, the Pad Kee Mao with beef and the Crispy Duck. Everything was delicious just like a remember from years ago. We had a nice visit with Nancy and the service was fast and friendly. I look forward to introducing Sala Thai to our kids and grandchild. Excellent Thai restaurant with affordable and authentic combo meals (different every day of the week), and excellent attentive service. They have a nice soup with cracker snack appetizer and their combos include pas Thai, flavored curries, chicken mama and other dishes. The interior dining atmosphere is also relatively spacious and has cool traditional Thai decorations. Went here to also celebrate OCU Law Alum Travis Mendoza passing the patent bar. I can't rate the ambiance for this review since I ordered takeout, but the food was spot-on. I've been sick for a few days and nothing sounded or tasted good to me except Thai cuisine. I ordered Tom Kha with shrimp and green curry with chicken. Both were excellent and perfectly seasoned. The Tom Kha is full of fresh mushrooms, tomato's and other yumminess. 3.5 stars. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. I like the boat noodles more than the Kow Soi. The beef slices were very tender and I like the broth. Our favourite restaurant in OKC They make everything fresh so service usually takes some time. We mostly go here with friends so it's a great time catching up. My favourite are the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup and I usually order a side to go with it, and my partner loves a fried rice and chicken dish. We've also tried some of their teas and have absolutely loved those, too. Very friendly and accommodating staff! The ambience is very homely and warm. We've had a great time here on every visit. What a beautiful haven! The service was excellent. They were very accommodating for a special request I had that was off menu. The owner came out and asked questions about my special order. The decor is gorgeous. At the checkout counter, there is a tiny gift area if you're needing Thai essentials. The food was very delicious. Regarding their spice scale, usually Thai restaurants ask you on a scale of 1-5 your preference of spiciness. I ordered a 2 and it wasn't spicy at all. So you can bump it up if you desire. We had the veggie fresh spring rolls, Pad See Ew - thick stir-fried flat noodles with egg and broccoli in lightly sweetened black soy sauce and special order of Pad Woon Sen - stir-fried glass noodles with veggies. This was a delivery to a hospital room, and I was so excited to get it. After several days of attempting to regain my appetite offered hospital food. hospital food: I could not regain my appetite. First, it arrived hot, and the Thom Kha Kai was healing and delicious. There was, however, not on napkin or any utensils at all. Luckily, I had saved a clean napkin and plastic wear from one of the trays. The spring roll was crispy and good, but did not stand out; the sauce that came with it, I did not understand, like just a sticky sweet syrup with no vinegar or complexity, over sweet. The pad Thai is Sweeter and less complex than I have had; I probably would not order from here again except for that delicious soup. My wife and I used to love coming here. It was one of the first places I ever took her when we started dating and we loved it. We don't live very close so we don't go often these days. We were in the area and decided to go and unfortunately I gotta say it's not at good as it was. The food was over all just kinda bland, not bad just not very good. I'm not complaining about prices because everything has gone up, but I don't expect the quality to go down at the same time, not from mom and pops anyway. Since it's COVID, they're taking the necessary precautions to close their dining rooms... but their to-go / drive up window was still a pleasant experience! Ive had papaya salad in Hawaii and this is the first one on the mainland that has come close to the flavor and taste! It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory... packed with so much flavor! I've eaten at Sala Thai many times and their food is delicious. It's always brought out hot and worth the wait that it usually takes for the food to be done. The decor is really cute and authentic feeling. The only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star review is the service. It's always been hit or miss when I've come in. Our server toke forever to come take our order, even just for drinks. The food always takes quite a bit to come out. After dropping off our food we hardly saw our server again until she dropped the check. Luckily we didn't need anything during our meal. All in all, I do recommend this place for good Thai food when you're in the area though. read more

I recently had a new dish (to me, from there)! Red curry 5/5: Perfect beginning spice level, but you can always add more upon request. The flavor was fantastic. I used to come here when I was a student at OCU back in the day. Food was always good. Came back todat for the first time in over 10 years with my husband and toddler and won't be coming back. We were there for 40 min and our food still hadn't come out. There were a few table but not busy by any means. But because it was taking so long, our toddler started to get wiggly. We entertained him as much as possible, but he is still a toddler and is louder than the typical human. He never ran around or cried. He did laugh. A lot. But apparently the waiter thought that my toddler laughing was too much and came up to us and told us to keep him quiet. I understand if my toddler laughing would have ruined the "ambiance" but this restaurant doesn't have that type of vibe. I'm already nervous that my toddler will throw tantrums when we go out to eat, but I didn't know I had to also be nervous about him laughing. Sad. This location is a bit run down. The building needs a bit of TLC. The staff are all wonderful though! Everyone was incredibly attentive and nice. The sauces for the food are all very flavorful, but the food itself isn't the best in the city. I usually love Thai food specifically for the vegetarian options, however, I didn't think the vegetables were high quality or cooked well. I ended up spooning the sauce from my entree onto white rice and eating that instead. I think this place is best if you just need an option for Thai takeout nearby or are stopping in for lunch. They have really great deals on lunches. It's a smaller selection to pick from than the normal menu, but you can pick two different entrees with a few extras for about $10. The normal prices for dinner aren't that great of a deal for the small portion sizes, so if you're planning to dine in, lunch is the way to go. read more

Our favorite Thai restaurant in OKC! It is really pretty and quiet inside, which you wouldn't really expect from the outside. Location is great - on 23rd street, close to plenty of entertainment, but away from the more crowded areas of downtown. Our group ordered Sa-Tae (the peanut sauce is heavenly), steamed Thai dumplings (amazing sweet, spicy sauce!), and Karee Puffs to start our meal. We each ordered a different entree, and would order them all again - pad see ew, pad Thai, sweet and sour chicken, and yellow curry. I enjoy spicy food and went with 3/5 spice level - ended up adding some chili paste and will go with a 4 next time. Sala Thai also sells jars of some of their sauces to take home! I ate here the first time almost 10 years ago. It has dramatically changed in appearance. The ambiance here is a 10/10. It felt like home and was beautifully designed. When we came It was somewhat busier than expected, and it looked like they may have had 2 servers. The service was very friendly, but I could tell they may have been very busy. As a former server,I completely understand, and they were doing great. I was originally craving curry, but my boyfriend kept talking about how the Beef Panang was supposed to be amazing, and it was his friend's go-to all the time. So, I ordered that to try something new. For $15, I was expecting something that I would have leftovers from, given my experience with other Thai restaurants. What I got was equivalent to a cup of soup with beef. I was done in 5 bites. The sauce was good, the beef was okay. The bread was crisp and had a good flavor. The 3 stars are for the fact that I walked away very hungry. My boyfriend got the crispy trout, and it had a great flavor and a decent portion size. My friends got soup. They had decent portions. The food had a great flavor from what I tried, but my personal meal should have been classified as a starter to be paired with something more substantial. If I go back, I will stick with the curry or pad thai because those portions looked more appropriate for the cost. read more
