I've always enjoyed having a salad from SaladWorks, but today's visit might have ended that. I was told that my order includes 2 scoops of dressing. I asked for one to be mixed in and the second on the side, just in case I needed it. To my surprise, I was charged $1.49 for the second scoop of dressing--despite it being included in the price already. That's absolutely absurd. $20 for a salad is already pushing it, but to nickel-and-dime customers over dressing is unacceptable. Definitely not worth it. This saladworks just just mediocre at best. Honestly, when the salads are made correctly, it's a very enjoyable experience. But depending on who is making your salad, it could range anywhere from bountiful and overflowing to just a pile of leaves basically. I always ask for double the protein and more often than not I'm getting chicken crumbs from the bottom of the container...less than what one serving would be. I always get the dressing on the side because they literally drown your salad...it's soup at that point. i think it's a little pricey as well. Decent lunch spot every once in a while but I wouldn't make it a habit to go here. read more

It's nice to know that things change, over time. The things that I noticed and felt were efficient last time, have been corrected. And how! At this last visit, the counter staff was superb and did a great job. Everything was rung up correctly, and tying that in with the wonderful Saladworks app, we did very, very well. I love the selection of salads that are on the set menu, and the ability to create your own salad. My only regret, is that additional items such as a few chickpeas or a few string beans are now almost a dollar a piece. Personally, I think that that's rather excessive for what amounts to vegetables. Additional sources of protein, such as shrimp or chicken are about a dollar and a half. That means that you could start with a basic salad and end up spending quite a bit, to customize your dish of greens. For a chain salad establishment, this Saladworks does a very good job. In terms of salad, the diner is greeted with several pre-designed options, but they can also craft their own platter with up to 5 "free" ingredients. Any additional topping ranges from $0.75-$1.25. A whole wheat or white roll is served as a balancing accompaniment. On my last visit, I made my own salad of mixed field greens, black olives, sun-dried tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and granny smith apples. I did enjoy my meal, but something about fast food salad just grosses me out. The topping options are minimal, and the prices are slightly higher than they should be. Have to tell you, Saladworks is a welcome addition to the "healthy" fast food concept. I usually have lunch there once or twice a week and their salads never disappoint. Granted, it's a much higher price point than say McDonald's or even Chipotle, but in my book, it's well worth it. A salad with chicken, a bunch of other fresh ingredients and a drink runs just over $11. I usually opt for the Thai Chicken because it's not only good, it has fewest calories of anything else they offer. I like that calorie count is listed. As for the staff, they're friendly and helpful, always willing to suggest a dressing or anything based on your personal preference. All and all, I think Saladworks is a winner in the fast food game, offering delicious choices at fair prices that are far less gastronomically dangerous than their more pedestrian competition. It is amazing how bad this sort of thing can turn out. And the parent company provides training to franchisees? In what, can opener operation? Ok, the place was clean. Because apparently noone eats there. The food is canned slop dressed up with some fresh lettuce, etc. And really expensive for what you get....not a good value. This is Saladworks, not the French Laundry. You are paying $8 for a huge chopped salad with your choice of fixings, not $400 prix fixe. So I asked myself this: did you get a nice fresh salad with romaine lettuce, pasta spirals, grilled chicken, olives, chickpeas, bacon bits, and a zesty Italian vinaigrette? Yes. Was it huge? Yes. Did it come with a crusty hot roll? Yes, but I didn't eat it and brought it home to my husband because I hate wasting food. Was I glad I went? Yes. Was it, by Yelp's own designation, "A-OK"? Yes. 3.5 stars First of all, I love Sweetgreen. Yes, it is kinda pricey (~$15 for a salad), but I actually get 1.5 meals out of an order so it's not that bad! Unfortunately there aren't any locations by my home or office. I hoped Saladworks would be a nice substitute I ordered the farmhouse salad with avocado, except they forgot the avocado (which is a shame because I think it would've been a great addition to the salad). The portions are definitely smaller than Sweetgreen--I was able to finish the my entire order for lunch. But each salad comes with a warm piece of bread and who doesn't appreciate a warm piece of bread?? (Sweetgreen just gives a slice of bread that FYI is not warm. And sometimes they don't even offer it so if you don't know to ask you don't get it) Another note is there was barely any chicken in it, just a few pieces here and there. Besides that I really liked the farmhouse. But I like salad in general so idk if my opinion is that helpful. Customer service is...there. The manager actually called the office later in the day to ask how the food was and if we had any problems with delivery. Told him about the missing avocado and he apologized but didn't do anything else to rectify it All in all, this place is a great healthy alternative to the typical lunch places we frequent at. Ok here's the deal, most of the people I've talked to that have gone to any Saladworks eatery either don't like or say it's just alright. I, on the other hand really enjoy it. Saladworks 'works' as a chain because when it comes to salad it fits a need for takeout greens. People don't want to sit down at a restaurant and wait forever for a great salad and they also don't want one at the local Wendy's or McDonald's. So this is great for a healthier pickup option. The prices are not cheap which is a major reason why there isn't a ton of business flowing through there but don't listen to the negative reviews saying the food is of poor quality because it isn't. The salads are fresh and they provide a multitude of additives. You can choose from a variety of already made salads or you can make your own. If you go around lunch time I've seen a bunch of people there with a line. There are also plenty of seats and booths if you want to bring a friend and sit. For a takeout salad this is one of the best I've ever had. In a world filled with fatty, sugary, cholesterol ridden fast food chains Saladworks emerges as one of the very few but healthier options. But like all healthy options these days it comes at a price. I'm putting a 1 out of 4 dollar sign rating because it is under $10 a person if you just get a salad, with a drink it can go around $10. Saladworks is great for a healthy alternative when your schedule doesn't permit you to cook up a dinner at home. They give you plenty of options so you can make your salad to your liking. True - they do tempt you with some delicious, fattening options like the various salad dressings, as well as cheese and bacon (yum and yum!). They actually have a really tasty low-cal ranch dressing and it totally does the trick without being completely overindulgent. This being said - the one criticism I have are the toppings portions size. I understand that they are controlling certain aspects - and I know that the door isn't always revolving. I can completely respect the need to run the business and make money. But... for instance... cucumbers. Now I know that at ShopRite I can buy them 3 for $1.99. I also know once they are sliced - they really aren't going to last into the next day without drying out a bit. So when I walk in there at 7:30 at night and they are counting out the number of slices they place on my salad.... this irks me a bit. It irks me because 1 - this is an inexpensive topping to be putting on my salad 2 - I really don't want to think that they are re-using some of this stuff the next day when it has been sitting out 24 hours prior. I wouldn't stop going there because of this. But as a frequent customer - I would prefer them being a bit more generous. Also - a customer care card or some kind of frequent flier bonus would be much appreciated. read more

Then had brown lettuce and all of the toppings were gone. Locked the doors while i was still inside. Never mixed my salad. And told me i. Couldnt get bread cause there was none left. They got the location, time, and salads wrong. Wrong kind of tomatoes, wrong delivery man, doesnt listen to instructions. Needs to up their game. I ordered from the twice before & not only did they mix up the orders, but the delivery man was late by over an hour & his excuse was "I thought I delivered it here" We start eating, and everything seem fine until we notice 2 pieces of hair in our salad. We call up the place and the lady at the phone calls us a liar and hangs up in our face. And we have previously ordered before & found an actual dead bug in our salad. I have been to many salad works in the area and really love the salads. However, the one on rt 23 in Wayne NJ is disgraceful. I have no problem paying $12 for a good and plentiful salad. This location is awful. They give you a minimal amount of the 5 toppings and when asking for more (a few more tortilla strips) they then charge extra. It's a shame bc there are not too many salad places and I will not being going back to this one. The management should be embarrassed. read more
