Their salads are much better. Note: I ordered online ahead of time and picked up. It's a salad bar but the guy behind the counter serves it up for you. The large is only a dollar more than the small salad ($8 vs $7) so I got the large, even though I knew I didn't think I could finish it. My salad began with a bed of spinach and included sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, bean sprouts, and blue cheese topped with sun-dried tomato dressing. I paild a little extra for herbed seafood (shrimp, salmon, and imitation crab). A cup of excellent tomato basil soup was Flavorful and creamy. And the salad was very tasty. I am not an Austinite - but every chance I get to visit Austin I love to eat here. Love all of the the fresh options to choose from. Vegetables are beautiful, additions and protein choices are outstanding - dressings are the best I've ever had. My first visit I had a wonderful lady that gave me a lot of suggestions, which was great. Made me feel a lot more confident and at ease when I returned again. When you walk in and look at the huge selection of things to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming the first time - so I really, really appreciated her sensing my uncertainty and stepping right up to help without me asking. I normally come here quite a bit, since its a good and healthy option when you are in a hurry. So as usual I placed my order to-go online and went to pick it up at 8:15pm. When I arrived the order wasn't ready, and I was told they had just hit a rush, but they are sending my order to be made right now. No big deal at that moment, so I took a sit next to the cashier section. As soon as I sat down a few more people came to the restaurant to place their order (I counted about 10 in total) as I saw each and every one of them get their orders prepared and cashed out, and mine was no where to be seen. There were a total of 4 people working the line and the register, and all the people that were coming in to place their orders were getting theirs done, except for mine. As 8:40pm came, another to-go-order-customer came by and theirs wasn't ready either, because they were still helping out the new customers that were coming through the door. I understand rush happens, however, they shouldn't have told me to please wait and that they were sending my order to be made "right away" when they could have just told me to stand in line, so they could make my food. This really made me feel like placing an order online is a second class customer experience. Like I mentioned earlier they could have just told me to stand in line while they made the order instead of setting me aside, and helping all the customers that came after me, even though my order should have been ready by 8:15pm. As 8:45pm came around, we cancelled the order and left. Please have a better system in place when rush happens, and online orders are backed up. Just have us stand in line, it's really not a big deal, instead of telling us the order is about to be made when in reality it wasn't. read more

Went in today to get 2 salads for my husband and I at 3:30pm. It is now 6:30 and we both are super sick. It's the only thing we have eaten today. I started feeling a little nauseated after I ate my salad but thought it was because I hadn't eaten anything prior. But then my husband started feeling the same way. I own a business and refer a lot of my clients here because I think it's great salads... even though my client said last week she had gotten food poisoning from salata. I told her maybe it's just something you didn't agree with. But after today I understand. I called the manager just to let her know "Chloe" and she was very rude and told me there is nothing she can do about it. And was saying I'm the only complaining customer. First off you should acknowledge me calling and telling you how I feel and then say you will check into it. Not disregard what I'm saying and be an asshole. I absolutely love this place. A place where you can make your own salad and put however much stuff you want in it? Count me in!! I'm one of those people who actually likes salads. But not any salad. There has to be something exciting about it: delicious veggies, lots of good flavors, cilantro seasoned chicken, something unusual and different. Here you walk down a buffet line and tell them exactly what you want on your salad. You can add as many items as you want (adding more in some cases raise your overall price). Walked in today greeted and was greeted by a gentleman who assisted at first then Brizeida begin helping shortly after. Wasn't crowded nor a long wait of people after myself just one person. She overtalks you and rushes you down the line and before I could even get out my words she has left onto the next I had to tell her to come back 2x during checkout not friendly at all very rushed no just simple friendliness have a good dat nothing! She literally threw my fork and cup on the counter where she also left my bowl and walked off ! I couldn't even ask for a to go box because she was gone !! I had to wait patiently for the first gentleman to return even though she saw me there waiting obviously needing one more item. Just poor customer service experience today from her all around. This is my favorite salad in town. The chipotle ranch is tangy and delicious. I recommend getting a to go container. I still had plenty left to finish later. The decor is upscale lubys and the ordering process is like super veggie chiptole. I prefer it to a salad bar...having pros serve keeps it more sanitary. read more

I used Salata to cater an office luncheon on both Monday and Tuesday. Two different office locations, two different orders, one to be delivered and one to be picked up. Salata did a fabulous job setting me up for success! I was able to call and place my order over the phone with the guidance and expertise of the catering manager. The website showed my office was outside of the delivery radius, but once I called the store, Salata said they could deliver with no problem! This saved so much time and energy. Absolutely worth the delivery fee and tip! Today I picked up the order and it was ready to go, bagged up, and easy to set up back at the office. We will definitely be using your services again in the future. All of our attendees were pleasantly surprised, leaving our luncheon full and happy! I cannot recommend your services enough! My favorite part is the online ordering option, so you can walk right up to pay and bounce to make the most of your lunch hour. They give you a solid amount of food for the price, and I find it extremely reasonable. The salads are great with fresh ingredients but they are ridiculously overpriced. Today I got a "regular" meaning large salad with two portions of Turkey. The protein is $4 per portion. For a salad and 2 rolls my total was $18.40. The guy at the counter tried justifying. My husband complains every time we come. They might do more business if they weren't so over priced. I was in the mood for something healthy so I searched for a good salad place, other than what Wendy's could offer, and this place popped up! I didn't realize how close they were to where I live and was surprised I didn't know of them otherwise. Ordered a small salad online with their tomato basil soup and picked up about 15 minutes later. When I arrived they hadn't put the soup to go yet so it was freshly packed when I arrived. All of their ingredients were so fresh and tasted wonderful. They definitely were not shy with the toppings I wanted. Such a delicious flavor to their soup as well. I highly recommend getting bread along to go with to dip into the soup :) They gave me a free drink to go, which I thought was super great customer service as they knew it was my first time. Ok but like how do you turn down a meal under $10? This salad bar is my favorite place ever!!! You get to pick and choose as much as you want and it falls under $10 (unless you add protein, that's a diff story. It's additional $$ btw) but everything here is so fresh that the lettuce actually has crunch and isn't yellowed or brown like most salad bars. Great place for a healthy lunch. it's pretty teeny tiny looking from the outside but surprisingly spacious inside with a fair number of booths and tables (and 4-5 tables out front with lime green umbrellas). but don't let that fool you because on any given weekday there will be a line to get some of these tasty fixins, so plan ahead. we did a late lunch mid week - still had a line but it was totally manageable and moved quickly. the decor is clean and contemporary, accented with that bright green color. i felt healthier just walking in. these guys dish up custom made-to-order salads with virtually every salad ingredient you could imagine (go ahead, name it - it's probably offered at salata). this is done assembly-line style, with at least half a dozen smiling salata employees doing their part and then passing your bowl to the next guy while you walk along issuing orders. you choose your size (their regular ends up being quite huge and so we split one), choose your greens from among the 5-6 they offer (or mix 'em!, they're totally up for letting you express yo'self) and then pile on the goodies. lots of veggies and fruits to choose from, plus several meat options. once your salad (or wrap) is constructed, they dress and toss it as you like. then you have the option of adding one of 3 homemade soups (we went tomato basil and it was delicious), a carb of some sort (rolls, tortillas), or some bottled drinks to your order before you reach the register. you can also opt for fountains drinks (an impressive assortment of iced teas - i went topo chico so did not see what else was over in the fountain area). take your masterpiece and find a table. while it's busy in there, diners also generally move quickly and clear their own tables - so you shouldn't wait long if at all. also, tables are wiped down quickly by staff, though they are left too wet so be prepared that you may have to dry them off with some napkins. we split a regular salad, a bowl of soup, an asiago roll plus a couple of topos. total damage was $18. there were a few upcharges, like $3-$4 for each meat, and $1 for avocado. to me, that's a little pricey for a lunch out (i rarely go out to lunch so maybe my price reference is from the dark ages) and i think i can bring this down a bit as i get more familiar with their offerings - but every bit of the food was super fresh and delicious. one slight weirdness was when the employee who had been cleaning the tables got off shift, went in the bathroom to change, and came out carrying his work shoes and clothing - and had to walk through the restaurant and past all the diners to exit. it was just an odd thing to see as in most places employees use a different exit than the customers. not a big deal, but just odd. anyway, go give them a try. they have the yums. read more

The best I can describe this place is to compare it to a Subway, but instead of sandwiches, you order salads. I love the metal bowls (weird, I know) and unless you're starving, order the small. Once you select your size, you'll make your way down the line, adding ingredients to your salad. There are a lot of choices and several "stations" with a different employee. I made a mixed greens and kale salad with lots of raw veggies, grilled chicken, and avocado slices. Everything is included in the price except the items at the end of the line (chicken, avocado, a couple of other items).
