Salata is fresh, great seasoning and very filling! I wish there was a location in Rockwall!

As someone with severe allergies, I will never be coming here again. The first time I went to this Salata, I failed to notify them of my allergy since I had thought I just wouldn't choose any nuts topping. But while my salad was being made, the woman grabbed nuts in her glove, threw them out and then proceeded to make my salad. I notified her and they told me next time I come to let them know first thing - I totally understood the mistake on my part. I went today for the second time and followed suit by immediately notifying them of my allergy when ordering. The man making my salad proceeded to be annoyed by the fact he had to change his gloves and then laughed with other people working about the ridiculously of my request. Came here for dinner on a weeknight after hitting the LA Fitness across the hwy up. The place was kind of sloppy with dishes left on tables. You walk up to a line and order a small ($7) or large ($8) salad. You can get unlimited of most toppings and pay extra $3 or $4 depending on what meat you choose. They don't have salad suggestion recipes like snappy salads does and I wish they did. Anyway with the large salad, chicken $3, and artichoke $1 my salad came out to $12 it was huge because I got literally everything on it so I took half to go. Not a bad deal. read more

Salads are built at your style, except you have to keep asking for just a little more, most often! The place has always been clean. The line moves pretty fast! The food always looks clean and fresh. The Katy trail is not far, so after a run, Salata is a fun stop to make! Tennis courts are only a block away. There are also several Yoga & gym places that are close by as well! I love the fact that you can get a number of different items in your salad! Be aware that the more items you get in you salad, the smaller the portions get from the wait staff, in what I have seen! Ug! Be aware of the extras that will be added to your bill at the end. The staff will let you know about the extras most of the time. When you start out building your salad, a person has a choice of types of lettuce or you go for a combination Iceberg, spinach, mixed. I like the old line of adding so many different colors to my salad! Throwing in some protein in towards the end, but do remember, that you might have already thrown proteins in from any of the beans tossed in! I like coming in here to eat before I go grocery shopping! ~ If you eat before grocery shopping, a person tends not to buy as much. ~ Here I get reminders of some healthy options that I might have missed on my list! ~ If I come here, it usually reminds me to go run first, (most of the time). ~ I can kind of see of the different veggies that might be in season. ~ The Salad line gives me different ideas for salads at home. If I wrote this review earlier in the year, it would have been 1 star due to service - there were always workers hovering around the cash register when lines were forming at the other end. It was ridiculous how long it would take....BUT things definitely picked up the past few times I visited. Please keep it up. If you've never been to Salata, it's a similar style to Chipotle where you build your salad or wrap with various vegetables, nuts, proteins and more. I'm one of those annoying folks that gets almost every veggie item thrown in there but if I'm paying $11 bucks for a salad, I'm getting my money's worth! There's a small or large option for salad with a difference of $1. If you opt for meat, it's an additional $3-4 bucks on top of that. When choosing your salad dressing, start with how much you want (half scoop, full scoop, etc) or risk getting a whole ladle poured on.....I speak from experience. FYI: street parking is slim, park in the garage for free and get your steps in. read more

Salata was one of the best salads I've had in a long time. They offer fresh salads and salad wraps, giving you the choice of lettuce, veggies, cheeses etc... try one of their signature dressings. Salad is $8 with chicken add $2 with seafood add $3. Salad wraps are $7 with an extra dollar for chicken an extra $2 for seafood. They also offer various soups and the normal assortment of the pictures. I chose to have a salad mix with baby spinach and romaine lettuce, with sundried tomatoes and raisins and grapes and feta cheese with a lovely balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Decided to try it today and see what all the buzz was about. Just today, since its opening, salads and wraps were only $5 which is really Awesome. Just wish they would do specials like that from now on. Since I'm on a strict diet, I decided on a wheat wrap w grilled chicken and veggies and I couldn't pass on the toasted pita strips. Everything was delicious. Kinda chipotle experience elevated to healthy state.i felt like I ate but didn't sin on my diet or my trainer. Portions were excellent and enough for me. Time I thought was great, it only took me 5 minutes in and out or less. Great way to start off. Next time maybe ill try the salmon wrap or a salad with the fat free dressing I had today, it should be a perfect combo. read more

I have been to this Salata location maybe 4x over the last 5 years and have never left satisfied. They never give you a full serving of toppings and make you feel awkward for asking for more than the 5 grapes their serving spoon can hold. They do not shred lettuce (every other location has for me). I only went to this location tonight (close to where I live compared to the one near my work) to use my $12 birthday coupon they emailed me. When I got to the register not a single employee knew how to use the discount and told me "only the manager can do this". I asked when the manager would be back and was told "today". I went at 6:45 PM.......I do not think the manger is coming....... Regardless I am done trying to make this location worthy of visiting. I would rather drive the 12 miles to the Addison location with better service. read more

I found out about Salata only a couple of weeks ago, and now I go there twice a week. Currently living alone, I find that I can get a fantastic deal full of fresh ingredients for just $10 (not picking the premium items), enough to for 3 days of loaded salads without doing any chopping, not to mention single-item shopping. The store associates are very courteous and patient (I select just about all items from the salad bar). The other day, I was helped by Colt in Mesquite. His service was top notch. As a student of nutrition, I can highly recommend Salata for nourishing, tasty meals. Quick-salad restaurants should be everywhere. I'm a fan. read more

Wow this place is subway on steroids, I love it! So much to choose from to add to your salad, it's unbelievable. I did not know you could put so many things on lettuce or should I say this crunchy green stuff--as!my daughter would say. For those who are not familiar with Salata it is long for "salads" or short for "a lot of salad" I am guessing that's what it means. The entire staff was rude and wouldn't even engage in small talk. The portions were extremely skimpy too, almost like the food being served was coming out of the employees pockets. I've been to other Salata's before and have NEVER been scoffed at for asking for more veggies or fruit past the obligatory one scoop. Very very poorly ran. We ate there and the place was dirty. They weren't busy at ALL and you would think one of them would decide to at least walk out to the dining room to see if any of the tables needed wiped down...because they did. I am very picky when it comes to take out salads, usually it's the dressing selection or quality of meat that ruins it for me, but Salata gets a win in both categories! The options are great - so many toppings and dressings to choose from. They offer spinach, mixed greens, romaine or spring mix as your lettuce options. Balsamic, Caesar, tomato vinaigrette, lemon vinaigrette, etc. etc. the list goes on for dressings. They also offer atons of "crouton" variations - which you don't see often! I've been here several times and the ingredients always look (and taste) fresh. Though this place can get busy for lunch rush, the line always seems to keep moving because they have a pretty good strategy in place. Easy, convenient location right off the highway, distant enough from the crowd heading into West Village, and with a free lot behind the store front. First, the parking wasn't awful - plenty of street parking, and a garage nearby. It was 6:00PM on a Sunday, so was likely slower than usual. Once I walked in I was kind of taken aback. This location is dated. It certainly appears as though it used to be a Moe's Southwest Grill or something. When I walked up there were no workers in sight. I looker and looked. Nothing. Finally, a lady walked out. I ordered my lettuce and made an e-coli joke. She said "What is that?" I gave her a brief breakdown. She said, "oh, wow. What does it look like?" The salad bar where she was getting the products was all mixed up. The toppings were falling into each other. The salad was pretty good. I really haven't complaints on it. This place is pretty unique in salad making. This is a "make it yourself" salad joint. You pick everything you want in the salad and someone makes it for you- like a chipotle for salads if you will. I loved that this place had a variety of toppings, anywhere for chickpeas to corn. The restaurant was very clean and I appreciated that everything was labeled in each section. I did not like that the workers were not organized with the customers order in line. She started with me and then halfway through said hold on and started the other girls order then came back and then went back to her. Not a fan of the process. I chose the small salad btw. The soup- I got the tomato basil- was AMAZING to say the least. One of the best I have tried. They also give a piece of bread for no additional cost. Lastly, I chose to get the prickly pear limeade. Interesting favor, i liked it. The grand total was $13.00, which is not horrible but when you think about what you are really buying- overpriced lettuce- it's a little steep. Salata is an awesome salad place in Uptown by West Village. Their concept is to customize you a salad based on toppings and desired size. It's literally a Chipotle for salad, which honestly is one of my favorite ideas ever. I ordered a large salad, which came in a huge silver mixing bowl with all the toppings I wanted sans meat for $8 including tax! I got tomatoes, boiled egg, banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, croutons, and more. I got chipotle ranch as a dressing, which I thought was delish, but those who are not a fan of spicy food should BEWARE because it has an incredible kick to it. The dressing alone had my nose running long before my meal was finished lol. I finished my salad, but only because I was starving: it could easily be split into two meals. I love Salata and have been to their other locations, this rating is strictly for my customer service experience. I ordered three entrees to take home to my fiancé and a friend and the woman assisting me was very impatient with my selections. She didn't smile at all. After my purchase I went back in line to order some drinks and asked if I could have bread to go with the salads I had just purchased. After throwing some bread into a bag she lifted her arms up and rudely stated "Ok, that's it right? No more?" I just laughed it off and smiled but I have never had such an unpleasant experience just picking up food to take home. I was very disappointed with this experience. Opted for a healthy lunch, and overall I thought it was a pretty good salad but very overpriced. They have a variety of toppings, and dressings to choose from, so it doesn't have to be a bland salad. They have options like falafel which I thought was interesting. The small bowl salad is still a big portion in my opinion but it was $7, which wasn't bad, but then to add any type of meat/protein it's another $3! They offer a grain to add like : pita chips, croutons, bread, and etc. A little confusing for my first time, especially since the staff wasn't helpful in guiding us through the line. A "large" with chicken and a spoon of artichoke was $12.99. It was dinner time and the restaurant was empty which didn't surprise me as I left. The customer service was one star. For my to go order I assumed a napkin, fork and knife would be included in my bag but at the register I saw the forks, noticed they were plastic (great plastic fork but the to go container made my meal smell like plastic) and took one. There wasn't a napkin in my bag. I asked the cashier to repeater herself three times about the price, 12.99, because she was probably inarticulate and a high price. I paid cash and did not get a receipt. She mumbled some other things but I have no clue what she said about chicken and didn't bother bothering her to repeat herself. This size salad is under $11 at central market. I die waiting for central market to move to uptown but until then I will drive to Lovers lane. I used to be very loyal to Salata in Houston and OKC. This location has ruined that for me. I have written emails to management and corporate, but I have seen no change. Ordered online and they did not prepare my salad correctly. If I'm going to get charged for double chicken, it needs to be double.

My salad was fine, however, this location was not enforcing social distancing at all. People are lined back to back in the line to have their salad made. There are markers on the floor indicating where to stand, but when the staff behind the line is telling you to pick your toppings, your being asked to scoot forward to see what the options are. If you want to maintain social distancing, I suggest placing the order online and picking up. read more

First off I was denied service for not wearing a mask even though I'm vaccinated. What happened to following the CDC guidelines throughout the pandemic and then all of the sudden when the guidelines change for vaccinated people your establishment isn't willing to follow? I shouldn't have to wear a mask. The person offered me instead a paper towel to put over my mouth! Yes a paper towel will some how protect everyone from a vaccinated individual. Common sense doesn't exist anymore. I've told everyone not to come to this place. Also the salads here are subpar I'm not even sure why I walked in to begin with. When I first saw the construction taking place at this location and saw the green and purple decor with "Salata" on the sign, I was so excited to see a Salata coming into the neighborhood, that I couldn't help myself. I used to eat at the Salata in Plano all the time and always wished that there was one in uptown. Well, the wait is over! Today, the Salata in uptown opened and it was better than ever. As you walk into the super clean restaurant, you will quickly see why this place is so good. They have so many different ingredients to go within your four different types of salad, and it tastes just as fresh as it all looks. I love that their fat free tomato dressing doesn't taste fat free. It is so delicious and totally compliments all of the great wonders I like to put in my salad. Just to name some of the unlimited ingredients I like to partake in: spinach, mixed greens, peas, corn, beets, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, black beans, bean sprouts, grapes, apples, strawberries (by far the best berries I've ever had anywhere), pita chips, bowtie pasta, and the list goes on and on. For your protein, there are so many options to choose from: four kinds of chicken (pesto chicken being my favorite), shrimp, crab, and salmon. Thank you thank you for coming to uptown! I am definitely going to have many meals from here! *By the way, if you dine here on Thurs, April 18th 2013, the salads are only $5. (The salads are regular $8; they are $10 if chicken is added). I am only giving two stars to this location of Salata. I go to the Salata in my hometown, The Woodlands, and they do a far better job. IF I AM PAYING $13 FOR A SALAD CAN YOU PLEASE ADD MORE THEN 3 CARROTS IN MY SALAD. This makes me so mad. The customer service is terrible. You ask for ingredients and you are given not even a handful. Not even kidding, I had to ask for extra eggs three times and they still don't give you enough. On top of that, when you ask them for more they make it seem like you are inconveniencing them. I love the meat you can get and the fresh herb vinaigrette is something I take home to have when i'm making my own meals. The manager really needs to talk to the employees about portion sizes and what your paying customers deserve. read more

salata. how I wanted to *continue to* love thee... let's start by mentioning the poor experiences have been specific to the Blackburn location. whether it's the owners obvious preference to having a total non English speaking staff, or the lack of customer service-- no, perhaps it's when you ask for tomatoes they give you FOUR-- and then you ask for more, they pick two more out.. whatev it is, overall, the issue lies with the owner. what is the problem with giving the customer a salad worth the $11 they pay for?? you can't possibly be instructing your servers to skimp on the toppings (is it really that big of a deal for me to expect the scooper for the onions to be actually full of onions before it returns to my bowl??)-- and if you are, for what??? the droves of people who are waiting in like behind me and taking up all of the sitting space?? what's that you say? I'm sorry I expected to have a mix of seafood in my seafood mix. so then the lady at the register and her have an exchange of words, most of which I understood, to where the server says "I gave her a shrimp the first time! she had a shrimp in there at first!" so, I just laugh and share that I won't be back, charge as she feels. Okay I went again like two days later after the lunch rush and I had a much better experience. There was literally no one in there. Just me. The lady who helped me.was very nice and asked me if it was my first time and was very patient and attentive as I put together my salad. I settled on a small Salata mix with my choice of toppings. I got the exact same thing I got the first time. I love that they have alfalfa sprouts. I mentioned the shrimp looked good and asked if she'd had it before and she offered me a sample, it was tasty. I would definitely try that as my protein next time. I think the thing that I like about Salata is the flat rate you pay for you to make your salad how you want. I am sure there are certain things you may have to pay extra for though like extra protein....I don't know for sure. I also like the pita chips as an option for your bread. I like that they are not like the store bought ones. They seem homemade or locally made. They are dark brown with salt flakes. I also like that they offer flavored teas and lemonade that are brewed and made fresh. It's not like Lipton or Nestea out of the machine, you know. And to top it all off, she threw a caramel from Dallas Caramel Company in my bag. I'm not a big caramel fan but this one was so good and soft that I Google the company. I ordered a wrap and added chicken which she gave me 5 small pieces that I counted and I said can you make it a serving and she said you have to pay extra. Three words: Fresh. Herb. Vinaigrette. I feel like Salata is often overlooked because it's sort of hidden in the deep crevices of Uptown. But this place is a freakin' salad goldmine. The freshest ingredients, including PESTO MARINATED CHICKEN? OKAY. And the fresh herb vinaigrette is probably the cure for cancer. You can also get a wrap, i.e. carbs are not the enemy here.
