Neutral: Seating is somewhat limited compared to other Salata locations. Thumbs Down: Pick-up orders do not seem to receive the same level of attention as in-person orders. Thumbs Down: It is very difficult to get the dressing properly mixed into the salad, like in-person orders, which results in uneven distribution of both the dressing and toppings. This happens even when specifically requested in the online order. Also, it was not remotely busy each time I ordered here. Thumbs Down: The portions for toppings can be surprisingly small. Depending on who prepares the order, you may receive very little cheese, only a couple onion pieces, or a sparse amount of lettuce. Neutral: If the salads were mixed thoroughly as requested, the cost-cutting would likely be much less noticeable. Fantastic! This little build-your-own-salad bar is right below the hotel I'm staying in this weekend for a conference. Stopped off during a quick lunch hour because I am a big fan of a massive loaded salad. You can choose between a small (which is a generous portion) or a regular (which is massive), pick your greens of which there are 6 options, then all the toppings. Like, literally ALL the toppings you can imagine. There are no limitations. Yes, you do have to pay extra for protein, but they plop on a decent amount. The bacon is free and pretty sure I got like half a pound in my salad. No complaints! Many dressing options and they toss it for you or put the dressing on the side. First time here and it definitely changed my stereotype of the definition of salad. So many choices of toppings, and all the things added to the salad made every bite a surprise -- I really love the sun-dried tomato sauce (partially because of the low calories) which has refreshing and healthy taste with just the right amount of sourness. Took off one star: the seafood mix ($4) was mostly just "crab sticks" that's definitely not from crab. Only one shrimp and few tiny pieces of tuna were found. This is the newest addition to food options in the medical center. I was excited to see this place open up. They started and finished construction relatively fast. I have been eating out less lately because I just plain got bored of my eating options. This place is like the burrito places (chipotle, freebirds, etc) meets salads. You first choose either a salad or a wrap (salad in a tortilla). Then you pick one of four different base salads. Then you have about 20 different salad toppings to choose from, top it off from 9 different salad dressings, and then add in 4 different types of chicken, salmon, mixed seafood, or shrimp. They mix it up and serve it to you. In my case I had the wrap version so I had another 4 different types of tortilla to use. A very cool concept...but just way too pricey. I had a wrap with chicken and it cost me 8 dollars. I could make a similar salad at Methodist's salad bar for about half the cost. The ingredients did seem very fresh so if you have the money, which most of the people here do, then it is a nice healthier option. There are no seats inside so everything is to-go. read more

I work in the Med center so I order my salad ahead of time because I have limited time to eat lunch. The last 5 times I have ordered ahead, my order has been wrong. Twice my salmon was left off (even though it was on the receipt and I paid extra for it). Once I requested spinach base and they gave me kale. Today, I requested spinach base and cabbage. There was no spinach. It was ALL cabbage for my lettuce base. Due to my limited lunch time, I don't have an opportunity to walk back across the street to have it corrected. So a coworker & I placed an order online for convenience, got there and my food was not ready for the pickup time... the people working there was standing around talking, no one greeted me, no customer service skills at all.. asked about my pick up order and a girl was immediately rude and told me I HAD to wait, my order wasn't ready yet despite it being past the pickup time. Got back to the office all to find out we had been bamboozled out of $14 dollars a piece because there was literally 6 black beans, two microscopic pieces of egg, 3 diced size pieces of strawberry, 5 mushrooms and 3 slices of avocado on my salad and my pita bread was dumped out in the bag. My coworker managed to find two pieces of egg, 3 broccoli, 3 tiny pieces of tomato and a crumb of bacon and her olives, mushrooms & jalapeños was still at Salata. A total rip off! Went here for a lunch break since it was close to work. I got their bbq chicken salad. It was tasty. I like that they let you try whatever ingredient you want. The service is also very good. They also don't limit the amount of food you can get - to an extent. Their ingredients seem fresh. There's no seating inside so it's to-go only, which was sort of inconvenient. Will be back again. Best not to read the previous comments before Harvey hit. It's a Salata, if you've ever been to one it's pretty much standard fare. However, the new location is quite a ways better than the old one. Clean, fresh, and depending on who is in front of you, fast. The only real downsides to eating here are that there is no seating, so you'll have to be a bit inventive and the price. But you'll definitely be full if you get the large salad. And if you want to save time, definitely recommend using the app to get your order, especially during lunch hour. Sometimes the line can extend outside of the building. read more

While attending grad school at TWU, I stumbled across this place (you can only eat at Chipolte, and Cliffs so many times). It's like a big bar full of wonderfully delicious choices. Yes, they are a bit pricey - between $8-11 for a salad but it's a large enough portion to split like we did. This place is probably one of the healthier choices if you're staying in the Houston Medical District. It is located in a very quiet street right next to subway, which I would consider a strict competitor. However, they stand on their own because most of their items appear to be fresh. I did not order a salad from this place, but I got several side items and their soup. Food items, I like getting a combination of their pesto chicken and quinoa. The savory taste of the pesto balances the bland taste of the quinoa. What better than going healthy! I highly recommend their Tomato Basil Soup. It's not the world's best tomato soup, but it is higher up in the ranks compared to other fast food joints in the area. One of my favorite things to snack on are falafels. Here, I do not recommend it! I ordered it once and it tasted stale. The service here is great. The lady who works behind the counter is very patient and polite. In the area, Chipotle, Starbucks, Go Fish, and Subway...the servers are rude. Overall, their prices are very reasonable, I typically get the items I want for only $10 or less.
