This location never disappoints. The food is always really good, the portion sizes are appropriate and the people are always very nice. I always get the combination of lamb and chicken which is always really good here. The location is right off of Washington Avenue which makes it a super busy spot, so be prepared to wait. I really like the vibes, very large but still the small restaurant style feel. From now on this will definitely be my go to location. read more

If you like Chipotle and want something different yet fresh, savory and Mediterranean, stop on by. Dropped by during the week for friend's lunch and got there in time to avoid the rush. Located on a corner of shopping strip on Washington, parking is shared with other businesses. Once inside, it's simple and clean. Plenty of seating available, unless you come during the week for lunch, it gets busy. Service was quick and friendly. Opted for the build my own, with garlicky chicken shawarma bowl and was not disappointed. Chicken was well seasoned and tender. Like Chipotle, I added the additional toppings to my liking and taste. Highly recommend the red pepper hummus. Or you can follow their pre-curated bowls and modify from there. Thanked my friend for recommending we lunch here and look forward to returning. Mediterranean chipotle is a great description of this place. A great spot to build your own / mix and match greens and protein with an assortment of toppings. So you could make your bowl as healthy or as flavorful as you can. I usually go with a custom bowl of greens/rice and combo meats (tried out the lamb/steak combo this time around) It's a good price point for $15 which is very filling and flavorful. Good quality/portion balance Location is fairly convenient, has its own parking lot and also within walking distance from a few other stables of Washington, service is fairly efficient. Overall I think it's a solid fast-casual spot with quality ingredients. Very customizable and can meet your dietary restrictions. Definitely be back again soon. read more

Love that you can order two proteins in a bowl. Food was fresh and delicious. Not sure why some people get 2 pitas and others get 1, but pita was ok. Lentil option instead of rice was great! Server gave me suggestions for the sauces which were spot on: skhug and garlic combo! When I got my drink and went to find a table, both spaces could have used cleaning. Most tables had remnants from previous patrons and we never saw someone cleaning the tables. read more

Healthy chipotle is literally what the food here is basically ya make sorta of a salad and add what ever ya want just don't add the meat because it's definitely not cooked all the way and it tastes like food poisoning. The pita bread here is pretty good just wish it came out fresh and warm . The prices here are decent not the best but it's food at least . The staff here if ya don't want a certain food item and ask em to remove it they won't listen to you . Overall if ya can somehow eat this food good for you but I would suggest to go to chipotle. read more

The first Cava landed in Houston several years ago and it feels like their reputation has taken over by storm. Some have called it the Greek version of Chipotle, but that name doesn't quite cut it. The number of customizable options are far more massive. Tons of greens, grains, dips, sauces, protein, and more to choose from; despite the variety, it's hard to find a bad combo. For $10-12, I get to splurge on a delicious blend of Mediterranean ingredients without any of the guilt around nutrition. I've made a habit of just adding on all the free toppings (e.g. pita crisps, Persian cucumbers, feta cheese, etc.) without thinking twice. If Cava dropped their fast food design and upcharged their food to $20 in a candlelit Greek restaurant, let's just say that I'd be none the wiser. Despite being a chain restaurant, Cava's standards feel elevated. Maybe it's the ingredients, maybe it's the cleanliness (compared to a similar restaurant, which I don't even feel I need to specify at this point). Either way, for the price you're paying, there's rarely a meal that this place isn't right for. read more

I wish they had a CAVA in MN!! My new obsession... When I visited Houston, I got this four times because I liked it so much. It is so simple, but everything tastes so good. Everytime I go there is usually a line but it goes by fast. It is a Mediterranean fast restaurant and you can't go wrong with a good Mediterranean bowl. There is plenty of seating and lots of parking! The staff and service is great! You can add pita bread but be sure to add pita chips and garlic sauce (there's plenty of sauces to choose from). That's what brings everything in together... I'm waiting for the day they open one in MN so, I don't have to travel to get this all the time. read more

Clean food, friendly service, and they make it look easy! I've been to Cava locations all over the city, but had yet to visit this one. As previous reviewers have stated, this is basically Mediterranean Chipotle. They have so many delicious options and its all pretty clean, so you don't have much guilt after eating here. We live in the Galleria area, but this location in the heights was the closest to us. It was a Friday night, and the place was popping with people coming in and out of the restaurant. Clearly everyone was getting that healthy eating on a Friday night (most folk looked like they walked in straight from the gym for a post-workout meal). They have wraps and bowls that are prepaid which you can chose from, but we opted to do a build-your own bowl. I picked falafel (my weakness) with some salad, basmati rice, avocado, and plenty of great veggies to chose from. My girl, got hers with lamb. Each bowl came with the option of a small piece of pita bread. It's not cheap (total was about 40 bucks), but it doesn't break the bank either. We ate inside, and there were plenty of neat fountain drinks to chose from, there was a lavender lemonade, and mint limeade that put a refreshing smile on our faces. Staff was very friendly, and they knew how to whip out fast service, despite the long line. Cava is indeed a must. read more

Needs more workers, it's a very busy location and the workers were trying the best they could to keep up. The food was less fresh because of this too, compared to the location in Marietta, GA I had. This place is much better than chipotle, management needs to hire more people read more

This place smells like sewage. I thought it was just me when I came months ago but the stinch still remains. Not the best sensation when you're in a restaurant where you're about to ingest their food. I've had a headache since I've left. The smell of sewage alone comes from gases of waste materials when catbon dioxide, methane and ammonia are released. So im not surprised in my headache. I honestly dont think this place should be allowed to operate at its current condition. I feel bad for the employees. I wont be coming back to this location. There's no way the health department has passed this...the management should be embarrassed. read more

This place is pretty consistently bad. I order a lamb salad bowl, and the last time, the lamb came cold and swimming in solidified lamb fat gel. I could not eat it. There were only a few pieces of lettuce, despite the fact that it was supposed to be a salad, and they were wilted. When it first opened, the food was better. Bring back quality control please. read more

My first time here and actually my first time hearing about it. Some friends mentioned it and spoke highly of it. I decided to give it a try as I was in the area. Walking it I honestly thought I was at the other place that looks just like it, exactly like it lol. They even have the same tortilla press but they use it for pittas. The staff was friendly and took the time to explain the menu and options. They have preset options or you can build your own bowl/pitta. Choose a base of rice or greens, then a protein and finally your toppings. The options are healthy, fresh and very delicious. Obviously the end result is based on what you choose. I will be coming back here and trying different variations. read more

I'm ALWAYS down for fresh, tasty, customizable salad bowls, so I guess my review will be a bit biased/boring. Cava is another healthy bowl fast food restaurant, like Sweetgreen and Just Salad, that is doing well and keeping up with the freshness, consistency, and speedy service that is required for a successful business like this. It is (and hopefully it will stay like this) fairly priced for what you get. They have a nice rewards program and offer a $5 discount when you sign up for their rewards. read more

what is going on here?? I went for lunch the other day. The guy missed my third sauce order. Only gave me two. When the final toppings guy came around, he just looked at me with a blank stare when i said my order. Finally, the lady at the check out looked at me and told me i had to put my own lid on my bowl. The customer service experience was horrible. Cava is overpriced. You are better off going to Dimassi's in Houston than Cava. read more

Cava is my substitute for Mezeh and Roots since neither of the two are available in Houston. Ingredients are fresh even if portions are minimal. For the price point, I expect a bit more than a teaspoon of protein whenever I order. Nevertheless, it's a reliable lunch option. read more

It was my first time trying Cava after hearing everyone rave about it on Facebook. I tried the honey chicken which was WAY too spicy. Luckily for me, the lady behind the counter allowed me to exchange it for something else for no extra charge! She really made my day and I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. The food here is great. So many options for flavors and combinations of Mediterranean-style foods. You can create your own bowl and make endless combinations of flavors - Very similar to chipotle, but better. The dining room itself was decent, a bit cold, but plenty of space and clean. The service is what got me. The man making the bowls at the front was friendly enough, but the girl at the register literally didn't say any words except for the total amount owed. No pleasantries or even "will that be it?" Or "would you like a drink with that?" I was dumbfounded because she just stared at me while I waited for her to say something. It was quite uncomfortable. On the whole the flavors and food will bring us back, but I'm hoping to have better service next time! read more

I really enjoyed my first ever visit to Cava this past week. Although I felt a bit thrown off by the Chipotle-style service operation, it's not really that big of a deal. I would describe Cava as minimally Mediterranean since there are no Mediterranean basics like couscous, baba ghanouj, tabouli or skordalia. I might be wrong, but quinoa seemed to be conspicuously absent (Haha). However, I did enjoy my Greek pita. I love hummus, though, so I was kind of surprised when the guy who made the pita placed two tiny scoops of hummus and tzatziki sauce on the pita and then proceeded to mix everything together. Say what!? (Hahaha) Even so, I enjoyed the pita, which was full of delicious ingredients and a wonderful vinaigrette. The highlight of my meal was actually the lemonade. It's sooo good! I look forward to trying other offerings on the menu. read more

Came in on a weekend right around lunch time. It was decently busy, but the line moved pretty fast. Staff was polite even when answering questions. There's not a ton of seating inside, so space was a little limited when I went to find a seat. They were quick to clean tables when people left, so the place I ended up sitting was clean but the floors were a little sticky. Food was good. I've had Cava before and this location was on par with others I had visited previously. My favorite toppings to get are the red pepper hummus and garlic dressing. read more

I am so happy there is a Cava in Houston! I'm a fan of fresh, casual, and Mediterranean food. Located off Washington Ave, there was plenty of parking as they have their own lot. I ordered the balsamic date chicken bowl. It was very filling and nutrient dense. My friend ordered an avocado harissa bowl. Both equally delicious. We sat inside, there is an abundance of natural light and plenty of seating. Definitely coming back for more bowls! read more

Another wonderful Cava location. Went in right as they opened for lunch and there was already a group of 5-6 people waiting for to go orders. No one was inline so was able to quickly get my lunch and sit down. Staff was super friendly and all scoops were reasonable portions to fill the bowl. Everything tastes so fresh, definitely a great lunch option in the Washington area. If you haven't tried a Cava yet, you're missing out. read more

August 14 & 15, 2023: I decided to give this place another shot. It's so convenient to work and I love salads, so I needed another look into the buzz here. I enjoyed my lunch so much yesterday, I went back again today! The first time I tried it, they had only been open a few days. Maybe they needed to work out the kinks and get a fuller menu going. I think I found my item. I get the salad bowl with rice and regular grilled chicken. The serving are very large and pretty good. You get up to 3 choices of hummus scoops and all the extra toppings you want (avocado is extra). The service is great and they have a large selection of drinks available, including flavored tea. I'm a fan now. I guess I was butt hurt about Zoe's leaving and Cava had a rough start on my first visit, but all is good now. Walls are still bare and atmosphere could use some sprucing up, but I take mine to go anyway, so not a huge deal. June 20, 2022: I was sad to find out Zoe's Kitchen was taken over. I loved Zoe's! I decided to give CAVA a try. I like the Town & Country area for convenience to home and work. I was hoping CAVA would be a welcomed change. Meh. CAVA is like a mediterranean Chipotle, but low on the mediterranean flavor (throwing Kalamata olives in doesn't make it mediterranean). The portions are decent, the proteins are good, the hummus is excellent (actually my favorite of all their food items) and the topping are fair. I don't think they were ready for the opening. The fountain drink machine was out of order, the decor was very blah, no salt and pepper, no sweetener for the tea, no lemons and the credit card machine didn't work (my meal was "on the house" because of this issue - yay me!). I had the build your own salad bowl. They have four different types of lettuce, several proteins, various toppings and basic dressings. I chose the grilled chicken for my protein and also requested to try a spicy lamb meatball. Both were very good, but that's pretty much it for the ingredients. I didn't feel the toppings were anything to write home about. I can't see myself craving a lunch or dinner from CAVA. They have a rewards program and app to track. $88.00 must be spent before reaching the first tier of rewards. No welcome bonus.The customer service is very good, so they have that going for them. Typically when I try a new place, if I am thrilled about it, I am planning in my head the next time I want to come back to try other items. I also think about family or friends who might enjoy it. I didn't feel thrilled about returning nor did I have anyone in my circle to recommend CAVA to. Just wasn't excited about this place at all. I so wanted to be, but it just didn't work out that way. I can completely understand the transition time and that they may not have been ready for an opening. That is all excusable. The lack of flavor is not. I will most likely not be returning as their food will probably not change. They have been open for one week (today is June 20, 2022) and I am the 3rd person to review this establishment. (I miss Zoe's ) read more

The Kofta Kabob had a complexity of flavor to it; so many spices that blended together really well. I will say that the post-meal burps of these spices were...smellier than usual. The Chicken Kabob was also flavorful and had a nice smokiness to it from the grill. I liked the slight crunch provided by the char along the edges. If I knew how to make chicken like this, it would be my daily meal prep! The Fried Cauliflower had a nice sear to it with lots of flavor. The Tabouli Salad and Hummus were comparable to those I've had at other Mediterranean places. The Muhammara was my favorite of the sides! It is a dip like hummus but also incorporates tomatoes, red bell peppers, and onions, among other spices; there was so much flavor to it and I could snack on this all day. The included pita bread was large, fluffy, and piping hot - perfect for dipping between the two side dips we got. Service was quick and friendly. The employee taking our order behind the counter was friendly and gave us the recommendation for the Muhammara - great rec.
