We went on a test drive, and I instantly fell in love with the vehicle a short, while later, I was negotiating the purchase of said vehicle. I would definitely come back to purchase another car in the future and I would recommend anyone looking for a jeep Chrysler, or dodge to give them a try. DO NOT GET A CAR FROM HERE! The brakes failed on our brand new jeep less than 6 months after getting it. Salerno took 3 weeks to "fix" the issue and was incredibly rude on the phone despite me almost getting into a terrible accident because of the faulty brakes. First time driving the car after receiving it back, the brake light came back on and the car can't be driven. Bought a 2018 compass about 3 years ago, since then its needed a new battery, tire alignment, new starter, and battery sensor. I very rarely drive the car long distance. Don't be fooled by their service department that the diagnostic test is included and covered, that is only if you repair your car with them. Otherwise it will cost you $325. It took 2 full days to get a diagnostic test report back even with an appointment, for something that should take a couple hours. I was left with a very hefty bill and 6 different things wrong with it. I had to call and call to get answers, since I never received a phone call. Today is September 9 2023, the last two days have been so hot many schools closed early and many events are canceled. My daughter is at this minute driving home from work in her new Jeep, STILL WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING. They said the parts are in and they just have to give her an appointment, but no one returns calls to set one up. She will need a loaner car because this job could take a week to complete and they have NO LOANER CARS. Have you ever heard of a car dealership with no loaner cars? He was quick to help me get set up with a service number and directed me to the waiting room and the coffee station! Caitlyn was our service advisor and she was truly outstanding! Caitlyn is incredibly attentive, helpful, and understanding about a warranty issue that I was having with my Jeep. My Jeep was taken in quickly and Caitlyn continued to check in on with me and provide updates on the Jeep's status. Terrible, disorganized....zero customer service. I went to Pa. to buy a Dodge Ram truck because this dealership in my own town was awful. Fast forward to Covid19 and I am not driving to Pennsylvania for service........I understand people are out sick, but an oil change and recall service should be easy....but no. Gave me someone else's keys.....never had my appt online....kept my truck for 2 days.....no bill, no call. Did they do the work? In the end, yes they did the work, but what kind of operation is this? They kept my car 24 hours and then told me they don't have the part for the recall so they couldn't fix it. I had to make a 2nd appointment for when they had the part. They told me the part was in so I brought my car back. Again, they kept the car 24 hours and then called me and told me they couldn't fix the recall because they didn't have the part, even though they scheduled my appointment and told me it was in. After the third appointment, they fixed the recall but they broke my passenger window, the heat stopped working and they scratched up my dashboard and gear shift. They are telling me it's my problem and they won't fix what they broke. They've now had my car for 6 days and not given me any updates. I'm still waiting for the manager, Paul, to call me back. This is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with in my life! Poor salespeople, poor customer service, and most importantly didn't do their job! When we traded our car in it took them 1.5 months to pay off our car. Since it took them that long I had no choice but to pay for my payments on the car on top of payments for my new car, so my credit wouldn't be effected. Also when we were there the financial dept. made us wait forever so the manager said go to lunch and we will pay for it. We have yet to see a reimbursement check for lunch and no one returns my calls for reimbursement on the payments I made to my car that I traded in to them. I will have to start taking legal action. I have been waiting for the dealership to reimburse the $1300.00 they charged me for a "free" one year package. They promised to pay down my car loan by $1300.00. I have spoken to finance twice and Sal has no interest in breaking down the charges on my sales receipt nor speaking to me about the refund. I have sent quite a few emails asking for someone to assist me and explain why they have not refunded/paid down by car loan by the $1300 overcharge. Emails are unanswered. Short version: They charged me a higher price for the used car than I agreed upon with the salesman. The justification was a "NJ preparation fee" that for some odd reason isn't itemized, rather it is lumped into the price of the vehicle. Clearly I was up charged so the dealership could claw back the lower price I negotiated on the vehicle. Long version: The price I discussed with the salesman was not the price reflected on the sales contract. Missing this very important detail, prior to signing everything, is 100% my fault. I am, however, of the mind that this was done deliberately by the finance manager, Joseph. It's possible that my salesman, Henry, is culpable. In any event, this mistake is one I will not repeat. Beyond this unfortunate mishap, I agree, the service at this dealership is a cut above the rest. They get you in an out about as quickly as one can expect, and they take their time to show you the vehicle and such. *Update* The salesman tells me the inflated price is due to a "NJ preparation fee" that is incorporated into the price of the vehicle. Coincidentally this fee completely offsets the lower price I thought we agreed upon during the bargaining phase of the used car purchase. That seems awfully convenient, especially since this fee is not broken out and itemized. I reached out to Michael the store's general manager. I was met with no empathy as I dropped my vehicle off for repairs Friday April 1st 2022. I had to inform the service department I had an extended warranty for my Jeep be cause they "DIDN'T KNOW". I was denied any help getting a rental that was covered in my warranty I was denied shuttle service to get home because I resided outside of the 10 mile radius, I was 17 miles. The lack of customer service in the service department is alarming. I will be taking my vehicle elsewhere where my hard earned dollar is wanted and most of all respected. read more

Parts department has some of the most miserable employees I've ever experienced. My shop has been ordering parts from Salerno Duane Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler for the past 20 years. The old parts manager Jeff was always helpful and pleasant to deal with. The new crop of low-information parts recruits are unpleasant to put it nicely. They are excruciatingly slow, fudge up orders, and have no social skills whatsoever. The one female parts counter person has such a lack of manners that all of my employees made it a priority not to deal with her and rightfully so. I went for oil change service and tired rotation, i got a phone call telling my car needed to have air filter change and front and rear differential fluid change. The guy said it will cost 1k and i told him I just need oil change and tire rotation. I got a phone call saying is done and for my surprise, tire rotation, oil change and air filter were changed plus some extra that i don't understand.... I had to pay $500 parts $170 and labor was $280. I asked why and the guy gave me some weird explanation. First and last time I come to this dealer. read more

My original review is 5 stars, old, and on their ford building which has its own yelp page for whatever reason. This is an update based on the experience I've had since purchasing a brand new vehicle in March. I would like to title this post " NO HUMAN BEING SHOULD HAVE TO SAY THEY DO NOT WANT TO PHYSICALLY TOUCH OR BE TOUCHED BY A PERSON THREE TIMES, SEAN AT SALERNO DUANE." Note: when I was purchasing my car, one of the salesmen (who was fired of course like everyone else that works there) TEXTED ME FOR MY SOCIAL SECURITY # TO RUN MY CREDIT. Unfortunately, after being extremely loyal and thinking highly of this dealer, I bought my first brand new vehicle from them. In that time, I have seen the service manager replaced, two new GMs for ford, several sales people including the one I worked with have disappeared. I received an automated (their words, their excuse) happy birthday email on the wrong day from the sales guy who doesn't even work there. I also asked to speak to a manager due to some very frustrating manufacturing issues about my car (I have the brand new eco sport) which I thought would behoove them to know since the sales people literally don't even know their own trims. (I came in and said I want AWD and fog lights. Sales guy older than my dad asked "What are fog lights?") The experience was disgusting. Danny, a very large, bald, young man, tried to take it upon himself to be a "big guy" and address me directly and in secret, outside, after I excused myself due to my fury while waiting for what I thought was them calling the manager. I will skip most of the awful details and just get to the main points that have disgusted me and honestly I don't think my opinion can be changed. To give you an idea, listening to Danny I thought "if I don't record this they'll never believe it" but the moment I took my phone out he IMMEDIATELY withdrew, went back inside, and told me I am not welcome in the showroom. WHERE IS THE MANAGER?????? Then I go to the larger showroom, that features other vehicles than Ford they sell. An absolutely horrid and incomprehensibly unprofessional human being named Shawn/Sean. I approached 2 sales guys that included this disgusting man because they were not with customers. I said, where is the manager? Simple. I have no idea why so many salesmen can not comprehend this very simple sentence. I refused a hand shake and said I do not want to touch you THREE TIMES and he REFUSED to help me until I shook his hand because he is "being a gentleman." NO HUMAN BEING SHOULD HAVE TO SAY THEY DO NOT WANT TO PHYSICALLY TOUCH OR BE TOUCHED BY A PERSON THREE TIMES. I finally gave up and said forget it and he said "ok you can help yourself then." Obviously, because you're so obsessed with your handshake you are useless for what I am here for. The next guy over pointed and said "over there" when I asked "Where is the manager?" Was it that hard? Why is this company hiring so many arrogant and extremely rude young men? Sean continued to shock and impress with his arrogance and lack of boundaries. It's not over yet. I'm speaking with 2 managers (who basically had a hornets nest at their desk now) which was about 20ft from where Sean sits. While speaking to the managers, I realize, THIS MAN HAS ACTUALLY WALKED UP AND BEEN STANDING RIGHT BEHIND ME, LISTENING. I turned around and said what are you DOING here are you STALKING me for a handshake now? He gave the dumbest reply, which his managers thank god acknowledged, and said they heard the entire handshake fiasco (why didn't they intercept then.....? ) this guy actually says well I had something to talk to them about. No you didn't, you have extremely inappropriate timing, are now lying, have a massive lack of boundaries and clear lack of common sense. I am so disgusted by this behavior that I feel the entire world should be aware of this gross human being and the impossibility of getting help after you spend over 20 thousand dollars on a vehicle you've learned is defective and the dealership can't do anything. At this point, I wish I never bought a car from them, and I feel so stupid for giving them their nice survey to Ford they begged for. The managers claim they have some solution in mind but the GM has to approve it. Quite frankly, I don't care what solution they have if it isn't removing this disgusting man from their place of business and immediately addressing and revising how they handle upset customers who ask for a manager. In the end, two weeks passed. I called them. Michael Bender was the only "manager left" because they fired Andreas already for unrelated reasons. Michael(who looked me in the eye and made promises) passed the blame to service(awesome), and to Andreas(fires) then said he suspended his (COMMISSION BASED AKA GAVE A VACATION TO) salespeople. Absolutely the worst dealer service department one could imagine! They charged me over a thousand dollars to screw up my timing and make other really bad mechanical repairs. Then once they fouled up my car they kept charging and working on it. It got so bad I had to call the Chrysler Motor consumer hot-line in Detroit. Chrysler sent me a check from Detroit and refunded me all the repair, and I took the car to Neilsen Chrysler on Route 10 in East Hanover. Neilsen did a great job. Went there to get my truck serviced under the extended warranty I purchased. I explained all my issue with the service advisor and was hoping for a loaner vehicle so I can get back to work. They only found one issue out of the many that explained. I do not feel the vehicle was property triaged, diagnosed and thoroughly looked at. After I left there, I took it to an ASE certified mechanic and he found all the issues in 15 min. Unfortunately my FCA warranty can only be used at a dodge dealership They had my truck for several hours and only found one issues possibly because I documented it myself. I feel unsafe driving my truck at times. The service advisors were nice but I feel like the technicians lack the training that they need to solve the issues thatI'm expressing to them that the issues are. read more

I went in about 2 weeks simply to get my car appraised and see what my options were (got screwed on my initial deal buying my car out west). Walked from the door all the way through the building to the last showroom where there was a little refrigerator filled with beers with nobody asking if I needed any help. I recently attempted to get my Jeep serviced at Salerno Duane Jeep in Summit, NJ. I say "attempted" because their Service Department is a Seinfeldian trip into an alternate reality where appointments are anything but what one would expect them to be. The problems really started the night before my scheduled appointment, when the service department called to advise me to call them before I came over in the morning, just to make sure that they had a courtesy car for me...the courtesy car, which I had previously made a reservation for. I guess his definition of a "reservation" isn't exactly the same as mine. Essentially, until the very morning of the appointment, I didn't know if I was heading in to work at my normal time that day or going to run late as I dropped off my Jeep for service. Luckily, I have a very understanding boss. I imagine many of their customers don't share the same good fortune as I. I dropped off my Jeep for an oil change, 5-tire rotation and a replacement pump on recall. I hopped in my courtesy car and made an immediate stop at the gas station, as my loaner was on 'E'. Towards the end of the day I left work a little early so I could get back to pick up my Jeep by closing time, as the service department isn't open on Saturdays and I didn't want to be without my Jeep for four days over an oil change. I got there just in time... . . ...to discover that they hadn't even touched my Jeep. They had my Jeep for 11.5 hours to complete what was maybe 2 hours of work...and did NOTHING. Then, whoever's Brother Fredo they've got working the counter starts spouting the biggest bag of nonsense I've ever heard. He tells me the reason they have courtesy cars is in case they don't get to the work that day. I felt as though I was in that Seinfeld episode with the rental car agent. I tried explaining that the reason for the courtesy car is so I can leave my Jeep with them all day to do the work that I had made an appointment for. I literally tried to explain to this joker what an "appointment" was. As in: Anyone can take an appointment, but it's the keeping of the appointment that matters. No dice. It was like talking to a wall...a really, really stupid wall that could give a rat's ass about customer service or, well...common sense. So, my search for a competent Jeep dealer to service both my and my wife's Jeeps goes on. In the meantime, she will continue to have Joey at the car wash service her Jeep. He's reliable and treats her like a valued customer (despite the most expensive thing we ever bought from him being a 10-pack of car washes). read more

When I called for an appointment I explained that my Jeep Check engine light was on and that I would like to arrange for a loaner car while they service mine. That is when the woman in service advised me that if I did not buy the car from them they will NOT give me a loaner even for warranty work. Went to this place to have my radio looked at because it would turn off at random times. Which was under warranty. They couldn't fix that but told me I needed brakes and rotors that would cost over $1K. Why would they even look at my brakes when I was having electrical issues??? Of course I declined because that's an outrageous price. My dad (a mechanic 1,000 miles away) bought the brakes and rotors for $214 at autozone. I was due for a trip down there and waited. He took the brakes off and they were completely fine. No replacement needed! I'm a 20 y/o college student living in my own in a dorm with a PT job and am poor. I had to pay for an Uber back and forth because they kept my car for a few days. This place saw a young kid coming in and tried to take advantage of me. Oil service took a full day. I called 4 times to inquire. I was warned that before Thanksgiving, the service would close at 5pm. By 4pm, I still did not hear fro my service advisor. I went there simply and saw my car done and engine cold. When I dropped the car, I saw the attendant spin off with it and spin my wheels. Small dealers with a total lack of service are destined to disappear in favor of giants or high service boutique shops. It's my last time there. read more

Arranging a time to test drive it and even submitted credit application and drive there after being lured in with a $100 gift card. Upon arrival the vehicle was allegedly sold a mere 15 minutes before my arrival. I really hate having my time wasted and being lured with a bait and switch and will never recommend anyone to do business with these an snakes. I regret falling for your scam which wasted valuable time I couldn't afford and any vehicle I purchase will never come from Salerno Duane.
