Just wanted something not far from home so I took a ride to LaGrange and decided to go to GP italiano ! From start to finish, this food was delicious! Everything made fresh from the pasta to the sauce... I will definitely be eating at this restaurant again... You are missing out if you are in The area and don't stop in for a bite !

We found a lovely spot in La Grange called GP Italiano. We sat at the bar chatting Emily who was warm and welcoming! She is also co-owner along with her husband, Chef Joe. After some wonderful recommendations from Emily, we ordered a few dishes and enjoyed each one more than the next. And you absolutely have to order one of their delicious pizzas, cooked in their beautiful brick-oven pizza. We're thrilled we found this gem of a spot and highly recommend you visit asap!

Pre-meal: Reservations are through website though place not crowded on an early Sunday night. Room: Clean and modern. Nice light fixtures and green wall. Pretty bar area but it's set up for eating. AC was very cold. Picture-taking: A bit dark but doable. Beverages: Didn't look. Menu: Contemporary Italian. Apps, a few salads, a large number of pastas, wood-fired pizza, some entrees. I didn't look at desserts. It's not your "traditional" Italian spot. Food: The beet salad was great. Caesar salad sported an ice-cold, fresh tasting combo of chopped romaine and baby arugula, delicious dressing and lots of parmigiana. All very good except the croutons were stale and I had to pull them out. The carbonara seemed fairly legit but the guanciale was strangely bland. The radiatori pasta with Nduja, shrimp and tomatoes was also not nearly sauced enough. We did not have dessert. Service: Fine. Price: Moderate. Value: Could be better. Summary: The devil is in the details.

Joined the GP staff for Valentine's Day this year and was not disappointed! Upon entry, the restaurant has a modern, fresh look to it. Every table was practically taken which was a great sign. We started off with the fried calamari which were good, but seemed to have been sitting for a little. The texture ate a little soggy, but overall, the pairings of the dipping sauces were great. All pastas are made fresh for the day and you can tell! For the entree, I ordered the lasagnette which was excellent. The portion was hefty too, definitely good for a hungry soul or a take home baggy for leftovers. I definitely recommend ordering any of their pastas; they all looked divine when placed on my neighboring tables. My boyfriend ordered the n'duja and ricotta pizza which was good too! Wood-oven pizza cooked in a proper oven, you can tell the dough sits longer than most pizza places. The dough ate light and fluffy, and very easy to go down. We finished off with a special black forest cake (valentines day special) which was good, but a little sweeter than anticipated. We'd like the try the olive cake or the pistachio pie next time. Overall, we enjoyed our meal! Worth the trip for a really good pasta dish; make the trip in and enjoy dinner here.

My boyfriend and I came in later on a Friday and they still sat us. Great server and great food! We especially loved the honey butter with the bread and the pasta. Fresh basil is always a must on pasta and they made it sooo good. Ambiance is romantic and lovely

Decided to try somewhere new for our anniversary and could not rave about GP Italiano more! Not only was the food amazing and fresh tasting, our cocktails had just the right punch and service was impeccable. The restaurant itself is photo worthy, clean, and a great atmosphere for a special occasion or simple date night out. We were delighted to see a mix of couples, families, and friends gathering. Truly one of our new neighborhood go to's!

We loved the server Jorge c And the dessert drinks were awesome affogato and lemon prosecco float with the garlic bread is sooo delicious. Also had a tortellini the sauce is great and frutti di mare.

My husband and I drive past often, and have been meaning to give it a try! Tonight was the night. We are always skeptical when trying new Italian restaurants because we have our tried and true staples. I must say, we were delighted with GP's selection and quality of food. We ordered the bread service, meatballs, and grilled calamari for appetizers. The calamari had a yummy risotto in the middle! The meatballs were yummy, but it was not our favorite vodka sauce. For our entrees we had the agnolotti and the gnocchi, and they were both so flavorful. Our whole order came to about $110, and I feel that is a fair price for the quality and quantity of food. We will certainly be back, and we hope to dine inside next time. When I went to pick up our food, the inside of the restaurant looked so beautiful! If you have driven past like us and thought about going, this is your sign to give it a try!

Lemon Chicken.... risotto was amazing. Nice lemon flavor.

Came here with four girlfriends. Was a Wednesday night. Wasn't very busy. Service was good. Food was great! We had the ricotta, beet salad, and prosciutto pizza to start. Then we each got a main course. I had the lasagnette. Was fantastic! I also tried all the other dishes and all were delish. Posted pics of each. Also was nice as it's half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays!

The smell of fresh garlic, tomatoes, and herbs in the air made us even more excited for the food. Our waitress was super friendly and made us feel welcome the whole time. I ordered the Fettuccine with Bolognese sauce, and added a meatball. We also ordered the Penne Alfredo with sausage so we could try both. When the plates came out, the first thing I noticed was the gigantic meatball. The fettuccine portion was generous, and the Bolognese had a rich tomato flavor. It was bold from the first bite, but for me the sauce became a little overpowering, and after a while it left a slightly metallic aftertaste. It was really good, but It was just a little too intense for my taste. The meatball was tender and flavorful, but I don't think one single meatball was worth the extra $5. The Penne Alfredo with sausage, though... that was the star of the meal. The Alfredo sauce was rich, creamy, and coated every piece of pasta perfectly, while the sausage added the perfect savory bite. I honestly wish I had ordered that instead. If I came back, that's exactly what I'd order.

For your consideration: Disappointing - and I wanted to reach out versus putting this on OT / Yelp. $307.82 including tip for the following: Made a 5:30 rsvp, even though my entire party wanted 7, but I didn't want to be rushed and have a nice table, not to mention avoiding the issues below. Checked in early, seated right away in the back room, next to a spare chair and highchair. Room was warm with one other table in it, and bright. Noted "21st birthday" on rsvp, so maybe this table was set aside thinking it was a bunch of college kids. Server, Mariam, overall was fine. Drinks were priced by city standards. "Brooklyn" was watered down and not really cold. Glass wines weren't cold. Decided to skip apps and go right to entrees because we had other birthday stops to make. Nothing we ordered should have more than a :15 minute ticket time, especially fired at 5:45. We waited 30+ minutes for entrees, which were delivered in stages - 4 entrees, then 5 minutes later, the final 2 by the same guy. Only one food runner on a Saturday night? Marsala potato side delivered 5 mins after that. The food was marginal at best. All the pasta was overcooked and really not very presentable. Sauces were breaking. Portions were smaller than last visit. We had 3 baskets of bread to make up for it. No manager check on entrees, although we did see one turning down the AC. When did table visits become optional in our business? Very good tiramisu with a candle. The 3.5% service fee is a Covid-era tactic that shouldn't exist after 5 years... We have three more summer birthdays and the group unanimously said "let's try somewhere else." But, Lucca's may have had an off night, and I believe in giving objective feedback and trying it again. Thanks for listening.

Their restaurant week deal is $45 per person for dinner and every adult in the party is required to participate. We tried the following: 1) Pork belly with a brown butter sweet potato mash and apple slaw - This was a delicious and refreshing appetizer. The fat isn't excessive and there is a good sear with the pork belly. I think it was different in a sense that it didn't exactly go with the Italian theme. 2) Arancini with chicken, parmesan, mozzarella, and marinara. This is the standard fare and you can't go wrong with this selection. 3) Faroe Island salmon with squash puree and Brussel sprout slaw. The salmon was well executed and I loved how it was paired with the slaw. 4) Arrabbiata with squid ink linguini and jumbo shrimp. This was the star of the night and what drew our attention when we first reviewed the restaurant week menu. It is rare to find squid ink linguini in the city and neighboring suburbs. The portion was huge and the flavors were absolutely delicious. We are already planning a return to order this again. 5) Tiramisu was the standard fare and once again, the portion was huge. We demolished it though. 6) Cookie skillet had a square of chocolate chip cookie topped with candied pretzels, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. We did not get to try it because our girls just took it to town. So needless to say, it was thoroughly enjoyed. We also ordered the kids' an eight inch pepperoni pizza. It was more than enough for our two girls to share.

It took about 10 minutes before anyone came over to seat us, another 10-15 minutes before someone took our order, and when our Snap Into It salad arrived (for a party of three), it only came with two pieces of bread, so we had to ask for a third.
