    Sweet potato and ricotta
    Sky L.

Finally got to try LUCA after hearing recommendations for a while, and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. Every single thing we had tasted fresh, thoughtfully made, and packed with flavor. You can really tell they care about quality here, especially with the homemade pasta. The noodles had that perfect fresh texture that's hard to find, and the sauces were rich without being heavy. The focaccia came out warm with a beautifully crisp exterior and soft center, the whipped ricotta sweet potato dish was unexpectedly incredible, and the appetizers were just as strong as the entrées. Even the salad felt elevated with fresh parmesan piled high over crisp greens. Dessert was simple and refreshing and ended the meal perfectly. The only reason this is a 4/5 instead of a perfect score is the service. Unfortunately, our sangria was forgotten not once, not twice, but three separate times and didn't arrive until long after everyone else had their drinks. We were also dining on a lunch break with a party of four, and two of us ordered the three-course lunch menu. While our friends received their appetizers, ours never came. After waiting about 20 minutes, we finally flagged down our server, who admitted the order had never been put in. What should have been a smooth paced lunch turned into an hour and a half meal that made everyone late getting back to work. To make up for it, all three courses were brought out at once with no pacing between them, so we had to rush through the experience and box most of it to go. That said, the kitchen deserves serious praise because the food itself was genuinely excellent from start to finish. If the front-of-house experience matched the quality coming out of the kitchen, this would easily be a 5-star spot.

This restaurant is in a great location and very cute looking. The food is good, but not great. Service was good, but not great. Went during happy hour and got half price round pizza and wine. I had the chef special and a margarita pizza. Pizza does take a while to cook but it's made known on the menu. Got a salad to split with a friend and it was a good size for the price. Good place to go for friends or date night.

What a Catch - Perfect Date Night Spot Birmingham, AL, what a catch. This place gives off full "mamma mia, let's go to Italy" vibes. From the moment you walk in, everything just feels right. It's an awesome date night spot. Beautiful outdoor scenery, with cute little bar areas that make it feel lively but still intimate. Inside, the atmosphere is just as good we really enjoyed ourselves. We ordered a chef's board along with two pasta dishes, and everything was incredible. Honestly felt more like art than just food. Our server was great too: funny, kind, and made the whole experience even better. This is one of those places where you know you're going to spend a little money, but you also know it's going to impress. Overall: Easy 5/5 perfect date spot.

    Just Bread....is soooo good!

Yes, it's a little expensive, but so worth it. The pizza has the fantastic punch from Parmesan and the creaminess of fresh mozzarella. The bread has a light and airy bite with so much flavor from the rosemary and large salt crystals. I could live on this bread.

Luca was amazing, not only did I love the food but the atmosphere as well. I went to grab a cocktail with my friend and we fell in love with their signature "Luca Fries". The crisp, the cheese and the sauce all to die for!! I also ordered the Collard Green Caesar salad and even though this was a first I loved the extra "umph" the collard greens gave the salad. It added more flavor for sure! I also ordered the Campanelle which reminded me of a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. It gave that concept but the flavoring was slightly different. You could easily tell it had fresh ingredients. Last but certainly not least the staff was very accommodating and checked in on us very often! I will definitely consider this one of my new a regular spots. I am eager to try wine and Pizza on my next visit!

Here's my quick breakdown: Ambiance 5/5, Service 5/5, Food 4.5/5, and Drinks 5/5 We started out with a sangria and an old fashioned, both of which were delicious! For appetizers, we got the arancini and the fried mozzarella. The arancini are a MUST have, but the fried mozzarella were nothing special. My partner got the papardelle which has a unique flavor profile and is worth trying if you want something off the beaten path! It was still yummy! I got the NY strip with the golden potatoes which was phenomenal!! The space is beautiful and our service was great from the moment we stepped in the building! 100% worth checking out!

Host was friendly. Server was also friendly. Meatballs were good, forgot to take a picture. Chicken pizza was just ok, chicken was too dry, crust was not as crispy as I would've liked. Steak had too much char but overall had a great flavor. Would return and try other items.

Okay, this is a very, very small sample size as all we got was their bread with olive oil to go.....but, as small a sample as it may have been, it was really really good! So now we will for sure be back to give the rest of their food a try. Will update the review then!

Luca does a lot of things right: bold flavors, good portion sizes, tasty cocktails, and a sophisticated ambiance. We had their meatballs, Luca fries, Caesar salad, and the campanelle pasta. Their meatballs were sweet and savory, their fries were cooked and seasoned well with a tangy sauce, and the pasta dish was on point: rich, creamy, and nicely cooked. While we only had one cocktail, a Hugo Spritz, it was excellent (granted, they're hard to mess up). However, their Caesar salad was unbalanced, with olive oil overpowering the tang and umami. Service started off slow, but once our drink orders were in, the service picked up. With this in mind, Luca does earn an imperfect score from us for this visit; nonetheless, we can certainly recommend it.

    Sweet okra?
    Iseo Y.

I was there for lunch today, I ordered Red Snapper with tomatoes, zucchini and yellow squash and okra, the zucchini and yellow squash were cut so little that you can't hardly taste it, it was overwhelming with cherry tomatoes makes the sauce so souring a bit. The roasted okra with whipped ricotta is so sweet like a dessert. Service is good, server is sweet and the ambience is beautifu!

Seated immediately and ready to take your order as soon as you decide. The Standard Burger (Lettuce. tomato, onion, pickles, horsey sauce & american cheese) is really good. Fries are cooked just right. Previously I got a mix of the Fries and Onion Rings. Onion Rings are great too! I have had The Three Hander sandwich (Niman ranch corned beef, fries, tomato, jalapenos, creamy slaw, dijonaise, mozzarella on sourdough) from their original location which is great too. I should probably try other things as well but the lunch deal is hard to pass up. Since it is not too far from my office, will definitely continue to be a part of my regular lunch rotation. Only downside for me is the parking. There are limited spots on the street out front. Adjacent to the building there is a lot that is part of the apartment complex behind it but not really enough spaces for the 2 restaurants.

We also had the southerner and it was tasty. They had a happy hour where I got a wine and husband got a frozen drink. Then round 2 I opted for the daily drink, daiquiri. Each day there is a different drink as a special. I enjoyed the music and the vibe. Would come back to this place when I'm in Birmingham again.

I got an automated message that said to leave a message and my call would be returned as soon as possible. I thought maybe the bar was busy and they didn't have time to answer, no big deal. Upon my arrival I noticed a very low selection of liquor, draft beer, or customers. The only customers I saw in the bar were two people playing pool. I asked the bartender about tequila. He asked me if I wanted a shot without telling me what was available or if that's what i wanted, which makes me think there is not much of a selection. Before I could ask what type of tequila there was to drink or ask what type of mixers the bar had, which I don't think there was much mixers to choose from by how empty the bar looked, the bartender then proceeded to ask me if I was "messed up". I drink rarely and take no medication. At this moment I hadn't had a drink in short of a week. He then proceeded to tell me that I was slurring my words, although that was definitely not true. He refused to serve me. I've been to bars all across the United States and this is the first time I've ever been refused to be served, especially before my first drink. He didn't ask how I was doing, if I was meeting friends, if i was planning on driving home, or getting a ride from someone. The bartender decided I was "messed up" within 30 seconds of me being in the bar. If a bartender can't tell the difference between someone who is 110% sober and "messed up", while making that decision within 30 seconds of a customer entering the bar, then that bartender should be looking for a new profession. I'm not quite sure if he was insinuating that I had been drinking, taking to much medication,or using recreational drugs, but none was the case. Maybe this is the type of bar where people often arrive to inebriated to get served or the bartender prefers locals and refuses service to others.I'm not certain this is the situation, but regardless it's extremely unprofessional and the bartender was absolutely wrong and unjustified. I will never be returning to this establishment and would recommend avoiding this bar. The next time I'm in this town I'll be sure to go elsewhere. I wouldn't return to this bar if it was the only one in town!

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!
